    Cinnamon Roll
    Amy P.

We were referred to Don's Country Kitchen by a local, and it definitely lived up to the recommendation. From the moment we arrived, the staff gave off a warm, family vibe that made the experience feel welcoming. Cinnamon Roll ($6): Cinnamon roll served warm with a thick slab of butter and icing. Soft, fluffy, and really satisfying. Country Stuffed Hash Browns ($19.95): Crispy hash browns layered and stuffed with bacon, sausage, grilled onions, cheese, and country gravy topped with two over-easy eggs. Comes with toast or a biscuit. Very filling and flavorful. Meat Lovers Omelette ($19.95): A three-egg omelette packed with bacon, ham, sausage, and cheese, served with a side of home fries or hash browns and toast or a biscuit. I chose the home fries stir-fried with peppers and onions and upgraded to biscuits and gravy for $2.50. The omelette was solid overall, though the biscuit leaned a bit dry. Parking is limited to a small lot with about 8 spots but street parking is also available in the surrounding area.

It's no secret I absolutely love Dons, and you should too. Every friend we have it town- Dons is a must visit. Four of us came on our latest visit, in the weekend downpour. They cleared a section under the tents for us and others to wait out the rain while our table was getting set up. The Cinnamon Roll was a table favorite and the stuffed hash browns were incredible. They do extra crispy bacon perfectly, the servers are super nice, and I'll just keep coming back!

We ordered to-go and it was good even though the food got cold so I bet it's even better when it's piping hot! The to go containers were paper, and after 20 minutes they felt flimsy. So I don't think the food can survive any longer than 30 minutes before melting through the box. Loved the food though, and it didn't make us feel heavy or bloated after. The gravy was amazing and complimented all the food we got. I wish we had more gravy so we could dip our hash browns in it! Definitely recommend!

Don's really knows what they're doing and the reviews don't exaggerate! Although parking is extremely tight - only a couple of spots or street parking, the food is worth it! The customer service is fast, workers are kind, very accommodating, and food comes out quickly! The portions are HUGE, the quality is AMAZING and for the price, it is such a steal! I enjoy coming here every time and the consistency is something I always look forward to. I highly recommend trying their biscuits (they make in house) and the Bea stuffed hashbrowns (what they're known for)!

Arrived on a Wednesday morning & maybe 10people, that's including the workers, but not long after, people started to come in. We are from outta town & just looked up on Yelp for a breakfast spot, found this gem with 2 others & we were definitely glad, we decided to go here, because not only the staff was super friendly, the food Did Not Disappoint We will for sure be back to this place, if we are ever in town, just to try more of the goodies on the menu. Parking doesn't seem like much, but there's places on the street or near by to park.

My first visit to this restaurant for brunch last weekend. We had a party of 6 so we had to wait 40 minutes to be seated on a Saturday morning for brunch. There is indoor and outdoor seating, we were seated inside. We had a great server (I didn't catch his name), but he was very attentive and professional. Inside was nice, nothing too special to me, just a standard restaurant. I don't like the small parking lot/limited parking situation. We had to park down the road and walk awhile to get to the restaurant, so heads up on the poor parking situation. The food was amazing! They have a huge menu with a lot of cool items, a hot White Russian?! I've never seen that before, it was so good though! I highly recommend it; if this is your thing. I really liked my son's big omelette, it had cheese, avocado and bacon and it was a huge portion. My hazelnut latte with oat milk was super good too. The portions here are consistent and very large, everyone I sat with had a huge plate of food and we all prefer different menu items. I highly recommend this place; if you haven't had the chance to visit yet, make the time it will be worth it.

The service was super great. Wait times on Sundays are 20-30 (some outside seating off the parking lot) but it's worth the wait for the uniqueness of this place. It has porch dining and the decor doesn't disappoint. The food, depending on what you get is plentiful and delicious. Worth your dollars.

Don's was suggested by an acquaintance I spotted while walking South Oside who advised us to go here instead of Beach Break since the crowds there were out of control. We are glad that we made this choice. It's a very cozy place whose outdoor eating is very relaxing due to their setup of being in a covered tent. They also offer special Friday fish options which score a lot of points for us as practicing Catholics. We ended up getting omelettes and the food was hot and served to us in under 10 minutes. The parking here is not ideal, as it's a very small lot and you're left to deal with typical Coast Highway traffic and summertime Zonies. Also, our table was not fully wiped down by the host who sat us, but he seemed to be trying to manage the crowd first versus other priorities. Hopefully this is just a one off experience. Our server Barbara was very considerate and made sure my coffee was always refilled as needed.

Biscuits and Gravy and Country Stuffed Hash Browns!

Super delicious, the stuff hashbrowns were so impossibly crispy! The service was also fantastic and the coffee was great!

Drove up to Oceanside specifically for this breakfast and we were all happy that we did so. The flavors are great, the portions are large, and the prices are fair. Parking can be a bit tricky because they have a very small parking lot attached in front but only for about four or five cars. Otherwise it will be free street parking. We arrived around 10AM for Saturday brunch and had to wait about 25 minutes to be seated for a party of three. We felt the wait was worth it though. The food items arrived quickly after we ordered and our waitress was very polite. Inside is pretty large and they have indoor and outdoor seating options. For my first visit, I chose my favorite breakfast dish, which is Eggs Benedict and decided to order their Chorizo Benedict. It honestly had some great flavors and was almost spicy but in the perfect way. I really enjoyed it and ate every bit of it and would highly recommend it. I already want to come back and try some more dishes and would definitely consider this one of the better breakfast options in Oceanside.

Good place for breakfast. Parking was packed and limited so we parked on side street. Food was good but a bit pricey. Coffee was good. At least it's dog friendly at patio and has shade.

I have been wanting to try this place for a while now but it's always packed. We were able to get there at about 10 am and surprisingly there was no line! Anywho, girls and I had breakfast, 1 of them had the kids pancakes the other kids French toast. I had the Oklahoma special and it sounded amazing but it was just meh. I can say the best part was the gravy. My biscuit was really dry and the sausage patties were as well. The potatoes weren't bad just needed salt. Girls both liked their food. Over all unsure we would come back. The staff was really nice and attentive so no complaints there. They do have plenty of tables inside and out and there's heating lamps throughout the outside. Once we were leaving the line was definitely growing, so go early!

Great spot to hang out for a nice breakfast. Not your typical stale chain restaurant. Great ambiance and relaxed feeling. Wife and I stopped by on a road trip based on the YELP rating. Glad we did. We shared a breakfast email and definitely enjoyed the food and service. Would highly recommend this place for breakfast. Great menu options.

I was soooo excited about the Philly connection, as I'm very familiar with cheesesteaks having lived near Philly in a past life. Well, I was sorely disappointed. We were told that the bread is flown in daily from Philly. Well, I don't know where it's coming from because it's definitely not the same bread as what they normally use there. The sandwich and meat were dry and flavorless. Totally underwhelming unfortunately. So then we saw that they made key lime pie there too! Again, I was SUPER excited because key lime pie is my favorite dessert of all time. And again...disappointment. I took one glance and saw that it was light green in color and knew I was gonna be mad. Yall, Key lime pie is yellow. You should NEVER add food coloring. That's just gross and inaccurate. The texture and flavor were also off. Texturally it was way too thick and dense, which would have been fine if it actually tasted like key lime. But it was severely lacking in that tart key lime flavor that it's known for. I'd definitely go back because of the service and vibe. But I'll maybe try a burger and the cheesecake instead.

3/7/26: Daddy Daughter Day!…read more A lovely Saturday morning. Sun is out. Rocking out to some Matt & Kim. Why am I running errands? At the very least, I have my baby girl to keep me company! She's off to a farther college soon, so I will take any & all the time that I can w/ my princess! We decided to drive home down the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) for a scenic detour, but our stomachs decided to intervene on that idea. Should not have skipped breakfast. D'oh. Hello Le Papagayo! And thank you stomach! The place seemed busy, but not packed. Thankfully, we were seated rather quickly. Choose the outdoor seating, if you like people watching. Some interesting folks walking about. Say hi! It's San Diego. We will smile & say "Hello!" back. My feisty first born went right for the sweet spot, literally! The Skillet Cinnamon Roll Pancakes were a bold choice. I think I got cavities just looking at this ode to confectionary excess! As if it was not sweet enough, here's some candied pecans! The house vanilla cream cheese glaze gave the pancake some panache. I could never, but was no match for her appetite. Did I mention the breakfast sandwich? Basically Breakfast Between Brioche Buns! (say that 5x fast). Kids. Stomachs of steel! Yes, chilaquiles. It's brunch. And I am on a mission to try them all everywhere! Like Pokemon, but instead Chilaquilemon! The beef birria addition for additional protein (costs extra) is most definitely worth it. The jalapeño cilantro crema made my dish stand up & speak it's name! THIS IS CHILAQUILES!! We only had an espresso & water to drink. Nothing fancy on that end. Another great day with my little girl. A huge shout-out to the hostess, who deserves massive props for her friendliness and hospitality; she made us feel welcome the moment we walked in. The three of us (my wife, our pup, and me) were initially a little bummed to find out only the Happy Hour menu was available, but that feeling didn't last long. We ended up ordering quite a spread: the Smash Burger with Truffle Fries, Mahi Mahi Tacos, Carne Asada Tacos, Calamari, and the Short Rib Birria Nachos with Guacamole. They even looked after our service dog with a dog patty and rice! Everything was delicious. I also really enjoyed trying a local IPA, the Burgeon Treevana, which was excellent. We were incredibly impressed with the quality of the food and the top-notch service. While we came for the dinner menu, the Happy Hour completely won us over. We will definitely be back next time we're in Carlsbad to try that dinner menu, we have no doubt it'll be just as satisfying!
