Outdoor seating for people watching (and motorcycle engines) or indoor for the classic swamis wood and green decor. We were able to get a table right away for early Sunday lunch. Upon walking up to the café, I was immediately drawn in by the doors being open and hearing hay, upbeat music. Signage near the entrance directed café customers to look at the menu, place their order at the counter then take a seat. As I looked at the menu, I appreciated the clear designation between vegetarian and vegan menu items. Vegan food choices includes a clearly marked tofu stir fry with vegetables and although they offer a Impossible Burger with vegan cheese, it is list as vegetarian since it is on a brioche bun which probably contains egg and/dairy. After looking at the paper menu as well as the digital board inside the restaurant, I decided to get a specialty item of Vegan Fysh Tacos an a side order of yam/sweet potato fries. When my vegan fysh tacos arrived, I was impressed by the food presentation. While the tacos were delicious and flavorful, the brown rice and black beans that accompanied the tacos were bland, The yam/sweet potato fries were the perfect combination of sweet and crunchy. I had the Greek Omelette, which was very good - fresh, perfectly cooked vegetables were loaded inside of the omelette making it a hearty meal. I also shared the special Cinnamon Roll Pancakes, which were also very good...it really had the flavor of cinnamon rolls in the form of a pancake...it was topped with a cream cheese frosting syrup that was perfectly sweet and tart. The space is big enough to accommodate a good amount of people. I was here on a Monday morning and we didn't have to wait at all, but I'd imagine a wait on a Saturday or Sunday morning. This is such a cozy weekend go-to for us. They've got something for everyone, mimosa flights for me, a giant chocolate chip pancake for my kiddo, and lighter options when I'm trying to behave. The corned beef hash is a fave, and I usually stick to the Benedict because it never lets me down (the beef special I tried was a little chewy). I was skeptical in ordering grilled mahi tacos as anywhere else I order usually comes pretty dry, but I have to say I was impressed and the fish was soft and had a lot of flavor! Negative: Lobster Benedict: made of imitation crab, :(there are pieces of asparagus in between the poached egg and 'lobster' not digestible. - full of coarse fiber. This is the first Swami's I've been to where you order before you sit down. There was a long line to order when I came here with a few girlfriends on a Saturday. After ordering we grabbed a table that was sticky and needed to be cleaned. My steak rancheros arrived first when I was the last in the group to order. The first person in our group who ordered pancakes got hers so late I was pretty much done with my food by the time she got it. The steak rancheros dish was okay. I figured since I ordered first and it was only pancakes at 10am I would get my order first. Well this didn't happen. My friends who ordered after me and ordered stakes got their food before I did. Everyone was eating except me. By the time I got my pancakes everyone was done with their meal. I regretted leaving them a tip when I ordered and paid for horrible service. Family and I were visiting Oceanside one beautiful, sunny Sunday. Asked a local about a good breakfast brunch spot. He recommended Swami's so we decided to give it a try. While you wait in line outside, you can see the ocean view from where you're standing. It was busy, but the line seemed to go fast. Be prepared by grabbing a menu and deciding what you want before hand so you can order at the front and then grab a table. The music was cool.. classic 70's music. Place is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. Bathrooms are clean. You have the option of sitting outdoors which is probably nice, but it was super windy that day so we stayed indoors. Staff is on the quieter, reserved side. My Uncle ordered the breakfast burrito(Potato Scramble I think it's called). My Aunt had the Veggie Omelette. They both enjoyed it and said the side potatoes were scrumptious. I ordered the cheeseburger because that's what I do. And because I am a cheeseburger connoisseur, I can honestly say that it was one of the best burgers I've ever had. Good size too! Don't judge my picture of it, I prefer it without the lettuce, tomatoes and onions.. it takes away from the true star(the burger patty). Fries were crispy and on point as well. Fountain drinks and few other beverages are available, though we stuck to water, along with all the usual breakfast hot sauces. We are steak people so we had to get two steak dishes. Steak Benedict (8/10): I love me a benedict and the hollandaise was delicious, not too runny. The steak was perfectly cooked and tender. You unfortunately dont get as much steak as you would probably prefer but they do add bell peppers to fill the plate. Swami's in Oceanside is pretty big, suitable for large brunch parties. We did not wait long in line to order, nor did we wait long for our food. If it's your first time at Swami's, make sure you look at the menu and know what you're ordering when you head to the cash register - because you order and pay first, then grab a seat :) Arriving for a late lunch last Sunday, I ordered my burger medium rare. Why would someone order a burger medium rare?! I know, I know -- I should know better. A moment of low blood sugar induced poor judgement caused me to say "medium rare" for how I'd like my burger cooked. (Note: This is coming from a girl who loves her steaks rare. We can go into a whole discussion why it's not typically advisable for a burger to be ordered less than medium (food borne illness, namely, E. coli) involving meat quality, facility practices, trust in the facility, etc. Totally digressing here.) Circling back to the burger, which we ordered with a side of sweet potato fries, and a regular caesar salad to share. Salad was okay, nothing notable. Sweet potato fries were sweet potato fries. Now, the boiga. Upon the first bite, I noticed it was surprisingly cold, but attributed it to us dining outside. But after closer inspection at my husband's half, and then my burger half... we realized that our burger was rarer than medium rare. Bordering on rare. Crossing the border of rare and breakdancing on the raw side. At this time, our other dining party already finished with her meal, and we needed to leave. There was no point in flagging down a staff member to ask for the burgers to be thrown back on the grill for another 4-6 minutes.
