Their Chai latte is home made and the Coffee Latte both with coconut milk = amazing. Special shout out to Lizzy her service was exemplary: very engaging friendly, accommodating, and efficient. We stayed at the Mission Pacific Beach Resort so we had breakfast here twice. We sat outside, with beautiful views of the ocean. Service was very good. The Sea and Schmear (smoked salmon bagel) was delicious. Really good tasting everything bagel and house made schmear, though I would have liked the bagel toasted, it ended up being too bready. The Pier View (quiche) was ok. It was not what I was hoping for when I ordered quiche. It was less egg and more cheese, but the cheese was too creamy/soft. The tomatoes on there were refreshing. The Animal (barbacoa burrito) was delicious. Very flavorful. We ordered that both days. The Loco Moco was also good. We substituted the spam for a sausage. The Pier Dog was a giant hot dog and tasted delicious. The only thing that was not good was the coffee. It tasted like hot water. I sent it back twice and then gave up. "The Cafe" is a convenient breakfast option if you're in the Oceanside coast area with a nice view. Lots of umbrellas, but the ocean breeze can get chilly, so bring a layer -- some seats have heat lamps though. Loco moco ($20) - One of the better versions we've had in Oside, though nothing worth writing much about. Poke chips ($18) - Ahi poke, avocado, and chips. The portion is small, and there's a slight kick, so heads up if you can't do spicy. Coffee - They serve Equator coffee, and the flat white was strong and hit the spot. Kids menu ($13) - Simple format: pick a main, a side, and a drink. My kids got pancakes (which came as a stack of two), a hashbrown (triangle), and a drink. The portion is on the small side for bigger eaters. It'd be great if they had a pancake-and-eggs combo option. Dog menu. Nice touch that they offer one for pups. There are four options to choose from. Service was friendly and attentive throughout. Really not great experience unfortunately. I came here many times when it was high/low and loved it but recently came to try the revamp for my birthday brunch and almost everyone at the table was disappointed. To start, our reservation was for 10 people and rather than there being 1 large table (idk if the tables can't be moved but there was no explanation) they gave us 2 tables of 8 so 2 people were left out. The menu is quite expensive for the quality/portion sizes. The quiche (tiny & cold, $16) and French toast (1 thick slice of burnt tasting French toast, $18) were the biggest bummers but the strawberry waffle was pretty lacking for the price as well. Only brought 1 tiny syrup for the 3 plates that would need it but no one really wanted it anyway considering it tasted like generic pancake syrup- would hope for real maple at a place like this?) The animal burger & double O were both decent flavor wise but again quite small portions for the price. The star of the show was the sea & schmear (generous smoked salmon portion but it is a $23 bagel sandwich) Everyone was quite happy with their coffee's so I would maybe go back for another honey latte! Also, not sure if this is typical but the reservation did ask if we were celebrating where we noted it was my birthday, and it was also very obvious considering the several gifts, flowers and balloons at the table- but it was not ever acknowledged whatsoever by the staff (I don't need a whole song or anything but something to note if you like that kind of thing). After an apocalyptic nightmare the night before at Mission Pacific Rooftop, was hoping for a good brunch at the base of the hotel on a Sunday bringing the family. Seated right away and would've had a decent view of the beach if not black-out with fence coverings end to end from what was either construction of another stupid concert. Ethan was our server and I liked him, but we simply couldn't communicate to the cooks that we wanted sunny side eggs to be minimally runny. It was sent back 2 times and after the 3rd we just gave up. In all, the food was 3.5 stars, (it was all over the place) and whenever there's a bullshit "service" charge, that's an auto star down (6%) hence the 2-star rating. The Grub: (Giant) Pier Dog: (A-) It was quite good, large enough to split for 2 people. the side chips, spiced potato chips were really good too. The Animal: my sons order, a shredded beef with a heavy cooking sauce was massive but quite tasty. (B+) if anything too much meat; toppings like lettuce/tomato/sour cream would've been nice to offset the heavy hot meat/balance out a bit but tasty. Asked for light beans, it came zero beans. Square Fish Sando (A) It was a nicely fried fish patty with a terrific coleslaw, probably best item we tried. Flower Power (Quesadilla) this was abysmal (F-) flavorless cheese, squash blossom looked and tasted like it had been run over by a truck...twice (poor Mom, again.) Nice cafe across from the pier. Beautiful outdoor patio and a smaller indoor space make this a great place for a meal. We were here for breakfast - One simple eggs and spam and also the popular Loco Moco. Everything came out quickly and hot. The eggs/spam/hash browns/ toast breakfast was tasty. The LocoMoco was a little sweeter than most, still delicious. Coffee was served generously, though you had to ask for it frequently as they don't go around filling up cups. Service is friendly and helpful, however not as frequent as one would hope. Still a great experience and would come back again. Enjoy!! read more

I had a really delicious & amazing experience here a month ago. I ordered the Sea & Smear, the Dock Fries, and the Grom Burger for lunch. The Sea & Smear was probably my favorite. The smoked salmon, avocado, pickled onion, and everything else on the bagel worked really well together and tasted really fresh. The Dock Fries were crispy and had a really good salty, tangy flavor from the malt vinegar aioli. The Grom Burger was the perfect size for my daughter. The service was also excellent. Hanna our waitress was wonderful and made the whole experience feel really easy and welcoming. She was attentive, without being excessive, and gave us all the time we wanted. She made sure we had everything we needed. It's always nice when the food is delicious, but having great service makes the experience that much better. Sitting with a front row view of the Oceanside Pier and the ocean, right next to the iconic Top Gun House, the atmosphere alone is worth the visit. What was horrible was the food quality on both restaurants we dined in: Dinner at Piper and breakfast at The Cafe. Subpar food all around unfortunately! At The Cafe, we ordered the deconstructed omelette and it looked like an excuse for somebody who doesn't know how to make a basic omelette. Didn't taste horrible but presentation was a mess. Also ordered the french toast, and not only did the burn the top, but when we complained about it they just scraped off the blackened crust! And forget about the taste or quality, that thing seemed like it was sitting for a couple days with how stale it was. We barely ate it, just finished drinking coffee and checked out. We visited The Cafe while on vacation. The food was surprisingly great! The spicy edamame is one of the best I've had! Everyone fully enjoyed their meals. The fries were perfection. The homemade ranch was so tasty! The kids loved the tenders. The spicy chicken and square fish sandwiches had a thin crispy batter that was so good. Everything was fresh. We love the spot so much. We also had breakfast here and lunch two more times. I'm so shocked that they only had three stars. The staff were super friendly as well. There were a few mix ups with our orders. When I ordered takeout, they had forgotten to include the fruit I paid for and I noticed it once I got back to the hotel. I called back and they told me they would give me a refund or I could also come back to pick it up. I would just suggest double checking your order but other than that, everyone was super friendly and great. For breakfast, we tried the guava banana pancakes, which were so good.
