Stopped by this little fish spot on the harbor in Oceanside and had such a great experience. The atmosphere was relaxing and perfect for enjoying seafood near the water. The servers were incredibly friendly and patient, especially when I was trying to decide whether or not to order the calamari. They were helpful with recommendations and made us feel really welcomed. The fish baskets were HUGE and definitely worth it -- plenty of food and everything tasted fresh and crispy. The clam chowder was absolutely perfect too, creamy and full of flavor. It really hit the spot by the harbor breeze. Between the great customer service, generous portions, and delicious seafood, this ended up being one of our favorite stops in Oceanside. Man, such a disappointment. Health code violations at the end. FOOD - meh. Maybe a 3 star at best for food quality and taste. The harbor burrito was fine but nothing special. Berry Crunch French Toast, same thing. Our friends ate the Stratford Scramble and it was just 3/5 as well. PRICE - considering the food is nothing special, I wondered why we are paying a higher price for it. Definitely overpriced unless you really care about eating at the harbor, looking at the water through some dirty glass. SERVICE - their current set up is to take your order, take your money, and give you a number. That would fine and dandy except that the girl who was taking orders ALSO had to play bartender. The line seems to be so long and take forever because she'll take your order, then spend 5 minutes making drinks or doing something else before taking the next person's order. Maybe this is their way to handle the traffic because tables are full and maybe they are down staff members. Either way, I was disappointed at the speed/organization. HEALTH CODE VIOLATION - the cherry on top to all of this happened since I had so much time in line to observe. The girl taking orders would take an order, process payment by touching the POS system, then scoop ice into a glass for the drink she was making (this time was a Bloody Mary), handle bottles of alcohol, and FINALLY, touch the bacon and garnishes for the Bloody Mary all without washing her hands. No doubt there have been many hands that have touched all of those things and contaminated them, all for her to touch food at the end without washing her hands. We went early on a Friday morning. They were quite busy and seemed to be under staffed. Staff was friendly. You walk up to a counter to order food. The cashier is also responsible for making coffee orders, so she has to balance her time between the two making the line longer than necessary. At one point, they also stopped the line from ordering because they had to roll silverware and catch up with coffee orders. Once the food arrived, both the corned beef hash and cinnamon pancakes were tasty. The corned beef had large chunks of red onion, I could have done without that. The pancakes were sweet but fluffy and well made. Coffee cake was just ok. A little dry. We sat outside and the view of the marina was great. Parking can be difficult so allot some time for this, found some nearby after waiting for some people to leave. The location is great, we sat outside & had a nice view of the harbor & people watched. Stopped in Oceanside for brunch and landed upon this lovely finding right by the pier. Ordered a lobster Benedict for such a good deal, and chilaquiles Jalisco with chicken AND poached eggs and guacamole AND sourdough bread AND hashbrowns! Reading the other reviews, I think they're confusing it for the place that came before (sit down diner, was a local favorite). What is here now: you grab a menu and hop in line. The line can be long, there can be a bit of a wait. Oftentimes the cashier is pulling double duty as barista, and they make your coffee when you order it. Prices have seem to have gone up (as the have everywhere), and of course since they are at the harbor it is tourist priced. Pricing is more akin to a sit down service establishment, but menus can be viewed online so you can prepare. In all fairness, reviews talking about dirty tables aren't far off. Since there's no waitstaff, the tables don't generally get bussed until folks leave (could be handy to have a bus tub for folks to drop off their own plates, so that tables get turned over faster). It is a nice view, they have a wide variety, and the coffee bar is handy. I've ordered basic breakfasts and avocado toast in previous visits. Food is not over seasoned so be prepared to add salt and pepper, or sour cream, salsas, guacamole, or pico as desired (you can make some of the people happy some of the time, but you can't make all of the people happy all of the time). This go around ordered a mini buffet: tasty breakfast burrito with bacon extra crispy (), berry crepes, yogurt with fresh fruit and grains, very very tasty chicken chilaquiles, and tri-tip and lobster. Flavor of the lobster mixed with the hash browns and sauce were pretty tasty...the tri-tip wasn't memorable, thinner strip as opposed to diced would have maybe had a better flavor, might have been more tender. But overall, everything was pretty tasty. If you can find parking, it is worth a visit. read more

It was early enough that we were able to get a seat inside. It's pretty small inside but super cozy, they also have sitting outside so you can enjoy the view. We arrived around 8:30 a.m. on a Sunday and sat outside under the heating lamps with our pup, it's a cozy little slice of harbor life but make it vacation. You order at the counter, and before you know it, the food arrives hot. The home fries? A dream which is crisp on the outside, soft and buttery inside. My son's humongous hot chocolate (with marshmallows, of course) could make anyone's morning brighter. The service here was really good. All of the staff were really pleasant and friendly. I got a green smoothie exit I think had spinach, mango and kale. It tasted really fresh. The Mahi tacos gets a thumbs down. The Mahi tasted like it was made from a frozen filet and the taco fillings seemed randomly constructed with cheddar cheese, avocado and cabbage. I must say Stratford at the Harbor got me hooked. I've been there a couple of times and my brunch experience has always been positively consistent. It's my go-to spot when I have friends/family in town visiting. I sincerely apologize for the delay with this 5-star stellar review. Located in the lovely Oceanside harbor, the Yelp Community must go to get inspired by the captivating waterfront view, amazing food (especially known for their coffee cake) and awesome hospitality from staff. I was struggling to find a place to take my mom and aunt for lunch at the Harbor when I remembered Stratford at the Harbor. The ambience is great. It's right on the water so there's plenty to look at. Service is a self-service situation. You go up to the counter order, get a number and then pick up your order when it's ready. I had a hamburger that was delicious accompanied by French fries which are fried in tempura batter so they're extra crispy. My aunt had the California toast, which looked amazing and she said that it was tasty. My mom had a peach smoothie; we were all delighted with our menu choices. This is a great place in the harbor to stop by for a bite to eat for breakfast or lunch and also the perfect place for lunch with my mom and aunt. I'm so glad that I remembered it. I will be coming by more often since we spend a lot of time at the harbor. This is the sister restaurant to the location in Delmar so essentially it has the same menu and set up as that location. Gosh, this place is absolutely amazing. Ive been here a handful of times before and really enjoyed the environment and food. We came in today on a Thursday around 10:30 and had no issues finding a table. I asked for the heater to be turned off outside as it was getting warm outside, and they had no problem accommodating. I ordered the chilaquiles and coffee cake, with hash browns well done, and a matcha latte with a shot of espresso ( felt like treating myself today, lol). Tiffany was working the counter as well as checking up on us outside, and the customer service was exceptional great today because of her. For lunch I ordered the tri-tip tacos with homemade chips. The two tacos were super tasty and served on corn tortillas with guac, pico and cheese. Three smaller tacos might have been better because of the plentiful ingredients or the tortillas should have been a little crispy. The heaping portion of chips definitely stole the show. (Besides the view, of course Andy handsome hubby). Very soft and moist. I should have taken another piece back home! I'm such a potato fan and it was disappointing when the home fries weren't roasted through. I love the huge chunks for the scramble- but, there was no justice. Hubby got the croissant breakfast sandwich with home fries as well. His looked more promising than mine because they were very seasoned. As I took some nibbles of his potatoes- majority of them had the same issue. Not cooked thoroughly. So, I picked at my plate to eat some of the eggs, cheese and avocado. First time eater here, longtime resident of this area. It was so lovely to sit outside near the water. Breakfast was good, not the best but then again, this was our first time. I got the lobster Benedict and my daughter had the chilaquiles-to be honest the chilaquiles were tastier than my Benedict. If you do not like self-service, then you should probably not choose to eat here-as you self-order at the counter inside and serve yourself with the drinks (unless it's a not something at the soda bar). Customer service was great-very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu! All in all, I will come back and try more because the ambience is very nice and the prices aren't too bad! We dined at Stratford on my birthday in April. It had been a long while since I was last there. It was midweek. We grabbed a seat and placed an order at the front. Someone drops the food off at your table. Between the three of us we ordered the breakfast burrito, coconut stuffed French toast with a side of hash browns and cinnamon bacon pancakes. Everything was delicious. The coconut stuffed French toast was very chewy because of the coconut. I enjoy coconut but this was hard to eat. The hash browns hit the spot. Driving down to sea world and the kiddo said he was hungry, looked up what was close by and decided to make the stop (with no research)... and boy am I glad we stopped!!!! The Cuban omelette was also really good, the feta cheese in it seemed a bit weird when I saw it on the menu but it complimented the omelette very well. Kiddo got kids French toast (1 piece of bread=2 1/2s). If your food doesn't come with the coffee cake, splurge and get a slice. It's REALLY good. Luckily, we got 1 slice with each of our plates & my kiddo asked me for a bite so I ended up sharing one slice with him.... But the other slice is mine!!! lol Will we return? 100% yes. My daughter was getting married in Oceanside, and my granddaughters ( sons daughters) were ushers. Since we didn't have to report for hair and makeup until noon, we decided to go to breakfast at Stratford at the Harbor. We were lucky because there were only 3-4 people ahead of us when we arrived, but shortly thereafter the line was stretching out the door. It was easy to see why once we started eating-- the food was amazing! I had the corn beef hash, which was super yummy. The poached eggs were cooked just right, and the coffee cake that accompanied it was so delicious--not overly sweet. One granddaughter had the coconut French toast, the other had Cuban omelet, and hubby had the breakfast sandwich. Everything was delicious and with generous portions, we all had enough for breakfast the following morning. An added bonus is you can eat on the patio or inside. Either way you're right on the water. This location, for us, offers a very genuine California coastal ambiance. It's not super fancy . . no gleaming chandeliers. The setting is Oceanside harbor which remains both a fishing and excursion area. We love to kayak through the marina. Recently refitted with a new menu which shines, I would say many of the selections are terrific. Last visit I had the best avocado toast I have ever had, with an interesting mix of flavors. This restaurant is a great place for locals, which we are, but also for causal dining with guests.
