The adorable girl who helped us was SO sweet and friendly! We weren't sure what to order, so she helped us pick some of their more popular dishes and promised we wouldn't be disappointed. She was right! I got the Stratford Scramble and a mocha latte with oat milk. The scramble was a HUGE portion and delicious. Did it completely wow me? No, but I definitely enjoyed it! The mocha latte was SO good. Nuzz got the Chilaquiles Jalisco and his first ever nitro cold brew. He loved both! The chilaquiles weren't too spicy, and he said the nitro was different from any cold brew he's had before and almost creamy. But the COFFEE CAKE!! When they asked if we wanted toast or coffee cake, we both chose coffee cake and thank goodness we did Soft, sweet, icing drizzled on top and SO good. That is something I would 100% come back for! HARBOR VIEWS & BRUNCH! Two things that mix very well, and deserve the social media attention. I had Stratford pop-up on Instagram and I was so shocked that I hadn't tried this spot. Oceanside is a part of my childhood, how could I miss it? Especially since the bites are awe-inspiring. Lemon pancakes are the moment, they're slightly zesty and mildly sweet. Perfect for sunny days and oh-so-photogenic. If you're a scrambles and omelette boy like me, you have another reason to love this place. I highly recommend the coffee and small treats too. Drinks are refillable and seating is readily available. Both indoor and outdoor spaces are accessible. The ambience is chill, location is relaxing and leaves you compelled to go next door and book a whale-watching tour. The menu options offer a good variety. We went early on a Friday morning. They were quite busy and seemed to be under staffed. Staff was friendly. You walk up to a counter to order food. The cashier is also responsible for making coffee orders, so she has to balance her time between the two making the line longer than necessary. At one point, they also stopped the line from ordering because they had to roll silverware and catch up with coffee orders. Once the food arrived, both the corned beef hash and cinnamon pancakes were tasty. The corned beef had large chunks of red onion, I could have done without that. The pancakes were sweet but fluffy and well made. Coffee cake was just ok. A little dry. We sat outside and the view of the marina was great. We were searching Yelp for places to eat at the Harbor in Oceanside and came across this gem. We walked over a mile to get here, and it was absolutely worth it. Sitting outside enjoying a delicious breakfast while overlooking the harbor was amazing. You order at the counter, and we were helped by a very friendly staff member. The chilaquiles were a 7/10 Pancakes 8/10, and the avocado toast 8/10 We got the mimosa flight and that was a 9/10 Also got an orange juice but it was questionable 3/10. It's an order on the counter and seat yourself kind of service, but we did have someone come by often to check on us and our food. Restroom was clean and everyone was friendly! The service here was really good. All of the staff were really pleasant and friendly. I got a green smoothie exit I think had spinach, mango and kale. It tasted really fresh. The Mahi tacos gets a thumbs down. The Mahi tasted like it was made from a frozen filet and the taco fillings seemed randomly constructed with cheddar cheese, avocado and cabbage. Man, such a disappointment. Health code violations at the end. FOOD - meh. Maybe a 3 star at best for food quality and taste. The harbor burrito was fine but nothing special. Berry Crunch French Toast, same thing. Our friends ate the Stratford Scramble and it was just 3/5 as well. PRICE - considering the food is nothing special, I wondered why we are paying a higher price for it. Definitely overpriced unless you really care about eating at the harbor, looking at the water through some dirty glass. SERVICE - their current set up is to take your order, take your money, and give you a number. That would fine and dandy except that the girl who was taking orders ALSO had to play bartender. The line seems to be so long and take forever because she'll take your order, then spend 5 minutes making drinks or doing something else before taking the next person's order. Maybe this is their way to handle the traffic because tables are full and maybe they are down staff members. Either way, I was disappointed at the speed/organization. HEALTH CODE VIOLATION - the cherry on top to all of this happened since I had so much time in line to observe. The girl taking orders would take an order, process payment by touching the POS system, then scoop ice into a glass for the drink she was making (this time was a Bloody Mary), handle bottles of alcohol, and FINALLY, touch the bacon and garnishes for the Bloody Mary all without washing her hands. No doubt there have been many hands that have touched all of those things and contaminated them, all for her to touch food at the end without washing her hands. The POS system is also about 10 feet away from the bathroom so all of this adds up to something that seems risky and needs to be fixed. read more

Food was terrible and it was very expensive. Corned beef hash was mostly potato and very little meat. The lobster roll was fishy.

Reading the other reviews, I think they're confusing it for the place that came before (sit down diner, was a local favorite). What is here now: you grab a menu and hop in line. The line can be long, there can be a bit of a wait. Oftentimes the cashier is pulling double duty as barista, and they make your coffee when you order it. Prices have seem to have gone up (as the have everywhere), and of course since they are at the harbor it is tourist priced. Pricing is more akin to a sit down service establishment, but menus can be viewed online so you can prepare. In all fairness, reviews talking about dirty tables aren't far off. Since there's no waitstaff, the tables don't generally get bussed until folks leave (could be handy to have a bus tub for folks to drop off their own plates, so that tables get turned over faster). It is a nice view, they have a wide variety, and the coffee bar is handy. I've ordered basic breakfasts and avocado toast in previous visits. Food is not over seasoned so be prepared to add salt and pepper, or sour cream, salsas, guacamole, or pico as desired (you can make some of the people happy some of the time, but you can't make all of the people happy all of the time). This go around ordered a mini buffet: tasty breakfast burrito with bacon extra crispy (), berry crepes, yogurt with fresh fruit and grains, very very tasty chicken chilaquiles, and tri-tip and lobster. Flavor of the lobster mixed with the hash browns and sauce were pretty tasty...the tri-tip wasn't memorable, thinner strip as opposed to diced would have maybe had a better flavor, might have been more tender. But overall, everything was pretty tasty. If you can find parking, it is worth a visit. read more

For lunch I ordered the tri-tip tacos with homemade chips. The two tacos were super tasty and served on corn tortillas with guac, pico and cheese. Three smaller tacos might have been better because of the plentiful ingredients or the tortillas should have been a little crispy. The heaping portion of chips definitely stole the show. They were crispy on the edges and soft-ish in the middle, and served with an excellent semi-spicy sauce. Good indoor and semi-outdoor seating, and super clean. Order first, then grab a seat. I'm such a potato fan and it was disappointing when the home fries weren't roasted through. I love the huge chunks for the scramble- but, there was no justice. Hubby got the croissant breakfast sandwich with home fries as well. His looked more promising than mine because they were very seasoned. I got the lobster Benedict and my daughter had the chilaquiles-to be honest the chilaquiles were tastier than my Benedict. If you do not like self-service, then you should probably not choose to eat here-as you self-order at the counter inside and serve yourself with the drinks (unless it's a not something at the soda bar). We dined at Stratford on my birthday in April. It had been a long while since I was last there. It was midweek. We grabbed a seat and placed an order at the front. Someone drops the food off at your table. Between the three of us we ordered the breakfast burrito, coconut stuffed French toast with a side of hash browns and cinnamon bacon pancakes. Everything was delicious. The coconut stuffed French toast was very chewy because of the coconut. I enjoy coconut but this was hard to eat. The hash browns hit the spot. My daughter was getting married in Oceanside, and my granddaughters ( sons daughters) were ushers. Since we didn't have to report for hair and makeup until noon, we decided to go to breakfast at Stratford at the Harbor. We were lucky because there were only 3-4 people ahead of us when we arrived, but shortly thereafter the line was stretching out the door. It was easy to see why once we started eating-- the food was amazing! I had the corn beef hash, which was super yummy. The poached eggs were cooked just right, and the coffee cake that accompanied it was so delicious--not overly sweet. One granddaughter had the coconut French toast, the other had Cuban omelet, and hubby had the breakfast sandwich. Everything was delicious and with generous portions, we all had enough for breakfast the following morning. An added bonus is you can eat on the patio or inside. Either way you're right on the water.
