Always heard good things about this place and was finally able to try it. At first I thought it would be a BBQ place. Turns out it's more southern style. I love a good friend chicken sandwich especially with pickles on it. This restaurant has a delicious one! I had mine with a side of cole slaw. Chicken was nice and crispy, the bun was fresh. They also have really good shoestring fries! I had to sneak a few from my friend! The decor is cute, service is nice. Would love to come back and try more things on the menu.

Oh where do I begin!!! Went there while on vacation and it was so fabulous, we went back again! The SERVICE is like no other. Sean and Levi at the bar know their stuff! They know the area, they make stellar drinks and they love what they do and where they are. We had the short ribs, shrimp and grits, steak....then went back next day and had different things. This place is known for the MENU. The eclectic decor is charming. Michaela is icing on the cupcake!

Delicious southern style place. Finally made the trip in for lunch with friends. The service was great and the place was homey and cute. Most of us ordered the fried chicken sandwich with fries. The bun was puffy and soft, the chicken was extra crispy and juicy,,it had a nice alio sauce, and pickles on the sandwich. They use boneless thighs which are much more flavorful, then breast. The fries were thin. and crispy and had a light smokey taste. Another friend has the pulled pork with slaw that she enjoyed. The nighttime menu has a wider selection, looking forward to trying dinner sometime.

We are from out of town and I always like a restaurant with a funny name. I noticed they had good reviews so we decided to stop in. The staff was very nice. The restaurant is full of fun and is very lively. The table that we sat at is very old and is handmade and we really appreciate the decor. For dinner I had a ribeye steak with a salad and it was delicious. My husband and son enjoyed some beef short ribs and they were pretty good as well. We really enjoyed this restaurant unfortunately we didn't have time to stay for Dessert but maybe next time we will. By the way, they have the best macaroni and cheese I've ever had in my entire life!

Attended a pre wedding festivity here for my cousin's son and soon to be wife. My cousin and her husband selected this place and ai have to say what a great choice. the food was delicious and the service was excellent. We were in a side room separate from the main restaurant. From what I could tell they worked really well with what the groom's parents wanted to do. There was a large charcuterie table with savory and sweet bites. A variety of vegetables, fresh fruit, cheeses, and meats. Beautifully displayed. Dinner was chicken, short rib I believe, mashed potato's and a salad. Their cocktails were beautifully presented and well balanced. Would definitely visit if in the area again to enjoy the regular food just because of how impressive they were in accommodating the special event.

Over all a nice night. We were greeted and sat quickly. Our server was "on it." And made the experience better. The food was good though the burger was dry. The Tri tip sando was solid. The pork special with the gnocchi was stellar as was the cioppino. No photo dinner sorry. Yums.

Great location right up the street from the beach in Oceanside, CA. A local favorite with great service and delicious food. Went there about 1:30pm on a Monday afternoon and the place was pretty dead. Super quiet, had maybe 2 more people come in while my friend and I were there. I ordered the Rockfish sando with shoestring truffle fries. My friend ordered the fried chicken sando with slaw. Both of our sandwiches were DELICIOUS! Fish was cooked SO PERFECT. SUPER FLAKY, super fresh. Shoe string truffle fries were just the right amount of truffle flavor with a solid CRUNCH on them. *chefs kiss* The fried chicken sandwich was basically 2 chicken tenders in a sandwich. Nice crispy on the tenders. Crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Great seasoning on it with a nice fresh and soft bun. The server was super friendly, attentive and gave us great suggestions on the food. Definitely would be back the next time I'm in town.

Oh my goodness!! Where do I start? I wish I could give more than 5 stars. We stumbled upon Flying Pig during our most recent spring visit to Oside, and I can guarantee we won't miss eating here during any future visits. I would say the 5 star review started with the initial phone call to check availability. There is not one person we interacted with that was not genuinely upbeat and enthusiastic about what they were doing. We were seated right away and everyone was happy we were there. Shawn, Dennis & Eddie totally added to our experience. Super positive!! The place is really cute, inside and out. The decor is clever and makes you feel comfortable. It's very inviting. There is a lot of seating and a bar area. You could come alone or with a large family. We ordered some standard drinks and then moved on to the menu. I am the deviled egg queen in my home and circle. This is the first time I have had deviled eggs where I immediately wanted to change something about my own recipe. The fried chicken thighs were perfectly made and every detail of each plate was well thought out. Mashed potatoes and gravy are one of my many weaknesses. They nailed it. We made sure to order the banana pudding for dessert. Do what ever you need to do to make sure you have room for dessert. A-May-zing!! Flying Pig is doing everything right. Make sure you take time to come by for a meal. This place is fantastic and will take care of you!

The service from Jordan outshined the food, which is saying something because all our dishes were amazing! The grits that come with the country fried pork are some of the best I've ever had. It's a fun vibe, too. The benignes were as good or better than any you could get in NOLA. Burger was loaded with flavor. We will definitely be back! Cheers!

Flying Pig cooks up some hearty southern style soul food -- fried chicken, bbq, blackened fish. We stopped by on a weekend for lunch and were seated right away. Parking in Oceanside is relatively easy, free for 2 hours with lots of parallel spots available, although you may have to drive around the block once or twice to find an open one. They have a small patio out front of the restaurant, as well as dining room seating and bar seating. I got the BBQ Pork Patty Melt (pork patty, pulled pork, white cheddar, pickled onions, BBQ sauce) with fries. Everyone else at the table got the Fried Chicken Sando, which comes topped with arugula, beer pickles and mustard aioli. The food was delicious, and the shoe string fries were super crispy. Overall, it definitely hit the spot.

I only have great things to say about Flying Pig. It was our first time here and I was so impressed with the food and service. We were greeted and seated immediately upon walking in. Servers were super friendly from the start. They have a huge beer and drink selection. Their food menu is small but plentiful. I tried the Brandt Short Ribs. I was so impressed by how delicious and balanced this dish was. Everything on the plate was on point. It felt like an elevated, elegant dish. Though this is a pub, it fees a bit classier and elevated than your standard pub. You can definitely see this in the food. Also tried the truffle fries and they were pure perfection. Inside of the restaurant is cozy with a nice dimmer light ambiance. It was perfect. The candle and flowers on the tables added a nice touch. They also had plenty of outdoor seating. Everything was perfect from start to finish.

Good drinks, delicious food, and good service! We sat at the bar and enjoyed an IPA , fish protein bowl, abs steak/fires. Would definite come back and great bar selection!

When we first arrived, there is no sign saying "please wait to be seated" and no one greeted us, so we just stood there waiting to see what happens. Finally, my partner asked the bartender if we seat ourselves, but nope, we were waiting for someone to help us. As we waited a little bit longer, someone did mention they'll be right with us as she went outside to take someone's order. Were they shortstaffed? Then the bartender noticed we were still standing there and she showed us to our table. The family behind us even asked if we were waiting for a table (or just standing in the way). With no host, assigned employee or not, it's awkward to stand in the doorway as workers go in/out. The bathrooms were also messy. The toilet paper AND paper towel rolls were not in its dispenser. Mind you, we arrived around 1 pm on a Saturday. Luckily there was hand soap. I ordered the pear salad, my partner ordered the pulled pork sandwich, and my family ordered the Brandt backyard burger and Mac n cheese. We all agreed the shoestring fries were fresh and crispy, but needed salt. The Mac n cheese also needed salt, but good cheese. There is no s&p on the table. My partner and I thought the pear salad was really good; my kind of salad because I love fruit and funky cheese (blue cheese) in my salads. My family enjoyed their burger with their ranch the most (upon request). The pulled pork is Carolina style (vinegar based sauce). We felt the service was more attentive during our lunch. This is a good spot for locals and tourists to try out because their lunch menu has a variety of things that may hit for different folks. As a veggie eater, I'm glad they had a few items without bacon in it, but I'm personally not going to suggest this place if we go out to eat. If we come back, we're coming because my mom wants to try it.

Inside view from the bar side of the restaurant, really cute! They have tables to the right (out of the pic b/c people were seated at them)

    Do they take reservations?

Yes, I emailed them and they responded pretty quickly.

The last time I was there, the restroom was gross! Has it improved in cleanliness? Deb H.

Absolutely... I was there recently...and the toliet was very clean...

    Are you dog friendly?

Yes they are. There was a table near us that had a dog lying under the table.

    Do they take reservations?

    No they do not!

    Where is closest parking?

Hi there, there’s street parking all around the restaurant. On busier days I always find parking on side streets with no issues. In particular, Surfrider always has parking which is located behind our building to the south. Hope this helps!

What time is your happy hour?

    Tuesdays-Fridays 2:30-5:30PM! (as of Dec 2025)

Hoping for good non-alcoholic wine or cocktails. Do you offer?

Good morning! We have very skilled bartenders that make fresh cocktails to order. We’d be happy to accommodate your request. We do not carry any NA wine or beer at this time. Thank you for the inquiry.

What time is their happy hour?

Other than salad, are their any vegan options?

Not really. It would be great if they did, because they are masters at food and those of us that have vegan/vegetarian kids would be able to eat there as a family!

How is the outdoor seating right now? Did they add more?

I was there last week and felt they had a good amount of outdoor seating. It was extended to the parking lot next to the real estate office.

Do you sell Rum Drinks? I am not into beer but i do like a Good rum like JPB Rockin Rum. Do you sell it? It goes great with a meal.

    Yes sir

    Gluten free dinner options?

There was a person at the table next to me and they asked about gluten free options. I heard the waitress say yes and they stayed so they must have found options that worked for them.

So my friend Nanci and I turned to Yelp for help. She had been to this location before and I frequent the Vista tavern and grill (mainly when Jimmy Paton is playing) with my family. Knowing that this one wasn't a restaurant we looked up on their calendar and excitedly saw that the Oishi sushi fusion pop up would be here. I've had them elsewhere several times and am a fan of them! AND we also saw that they have live music on Friday nights too! Oh yeah! This day the music was by Kimmi Bitter duo with Willis Farnsworth. I love the 60/70's vibe that they've got going on! Definitely a fun FriYay night out with our favorite of things ie Grub, drink AND what felt like a VIP live music show! I loved the open floor plan especially because after that fun workout prior I was able to cool down with the fresh air. Cuz I was one sweaty Betty, Ha! We noticed that they have BINGO on Thursdays and so the pre-planning of my 50th birthday spinning wheels in my head began! How perfect that my actual birthday fell on the same day as a bingo night. Spinning Meats Mediterranean pop up would be there. Rain or Shine. You see it's usually very hard to plan an actual birthday event for my birthday because it's so close to the hustle bustle of the Holidays. It also likes to be a rainy day. We lucked out here! I called and spoke to Ashley (forgive if I got the name wrong but that's what this old brain remembers). about making reservations and she informed me that it really is a free-for-all/first come basis as far as the table seating goes. But she did reserve one high communal table for me, RSVP for a half an hour prior to the first BINGO game. That worked out perfectly as my event was more casual and my friends would be trickling in and out during the evening. Several of my guests that attended my event are fellow YELPers too and we are always recommending our favorite places with one another. The entire venue felt like it was my own as we befriended strangers and shared other tables, luv and laughs all around & even shared my cake with them too. I was having surgery just days after this event so I only had one seltzer drink and it was good. I love that it didn't have fake dye coloring in it. My friends loved the place, their brews, and I loved their presence! Thank you BBB~O'side crew. You were amazing! Tho a bit bummed that no one out of my group won a bingo game but one guy won twice!?! How!?! Scratches head. We had a great time and truly am looking forward to my/our next experience here!
