One of the worst meals I've had in a long time. Took my mother and father here for birthday dinner for dad. Him and I each got the shrimp cocktail to start, it was fine. Hard to mess up this item. Mom got coconut shrimp appetizer and crab cake. Her crab cake came out ice cold so they had to remake it. Dad and I got the lobster tail for dinner. Half pound (they claim), seasonal vegetables, rice pilaf. The rice was by far the best part. At least it had flavor. Veggies were clearly frozen out of a bag and boiled. No salt. No flavor. Worst of all: the lobster. Nowhere near 1/2 pound as the menu says. No flavor. Poorly cooked and chewy. My lobster tail had black char marks on it from where they burnt it. Horrible experience. Location, location, location. Sit on the patio and catch the ocean breeze while you're watching boats sail in and out of the harbor. Could you ask for a nicer location when it's warm inland? We prefer lunch here over dinner. The food is always good here, certainly we wouldn't consider it to be the best, but definitely always good. We had family visiting from the U.K. and they were staying in Oceanside and suggested this restaurant. This was such a great place for our party of 7! We made reservations and arrived during the last 30 mins of Happy Hour. We ordered a few appetizers (calamari, crab cakes, and wings). It's awesome that they offer HH prices at the tables and not just at the bar! Everyone ordered various entrees (salmon, pasta, steak, while I had the 1/2 French Dip and clam chowder). Food was delicious, no complaints. Service was excellent and we didn't experience any issues. I would definitely recommend Oceanside Broiler if you find yourself in the neighborhood. My husband, mother in law and I had a lovely dinner here on the patio. We opted for the front small patio by the front door because our dog was with us. We got the poke nachos to share to start and then each ordered entrées. I love a fish entrée so I went with that. My husband went all out with the fish and chips that also came with fried shrimp too. We also did the shrimp scampi which we did with pasta compared to the other preparation. They were also super nice and go our pup some grilled chicken and veggies for him to enjoy too and they were generous portions. I love being able to dine on the water and have easy parking. Came to the Oceanside Broiler to celebrate my friend's bday. What a lovely afternoon. Service was top notch, food was great. They have an all day type happy hour menu. Food was very poor. No flavor! It was a disappointing but expensive meal. The clam chowder was watery. The rice and mixed veggies had zero flavor and without emptying the salt shaker were beyond redemption. Then biggest heart break. The 1/2lbs lobster was drastically undersized and very tough. Ever since 5 years ago when I first visited Oceanside and walked this marina, I've always wanted to try this charming looking seafood dig with a nice patio. This past Sunday, I brought my family and parents to hope that one meal can be salvaged as being enjoyable from our very forgetful and disastrous 2-day meal journey in this city. We packed up from our hotel and getting ready to go back to the valley this was our farewell early dinner. Was pleased to see not only a few spots parking available, but that the restaurant was around 30% full. Then the paranoia set in (why is it only 30% full?) Asked and got a perfect seat in the back patio, shaded and overlooking marina. Our server Roman was great so I will give that...but take everything else. When you receive your entire order in less that 8 minutes after ordering in a seafood restaurant, its generally not a good sign. And after looking at and tasting the dishes, it was sadly evident that most of the food here is pre-cooked and quick heated or my guess, microwaved. The rundown: 1 order of a dozen oysters...fortunately these cannot be nuked, so they were delish (A+) But...it ends there. The fish and chips: Pretty good (B) not great, had a good fries and coleslaw but all downhill from there. Shrimp Scampi (moms order) beyond abysmal (F-) zero garlic on the shrimp, huge and tasteless 100% farm-raised shrimp, and a beyond pathetic reheated half ass toasted garlic bread that 7-Eleven would serve much better. This was an epic fail, A to Z zero resemblance of a scampi. Swordfish steak (my dish) clearly not cooked to order, it was nuked, along with the sides of veggies and rice. (C-) The dishes literally looked like hospital food and the sides tasted like them; the rice and veggies on my dish and my wife's which was the... Snapper and Shrimp combo....panko crusted wording on the menu reeled us in, but it was covered in a very odd and crappy creamy sauce, another easy fail and again...clearly reheated or nuked to order. (D-) The clam chowders are nice thickness wise but can't be more obvious they are canned. I like any clam chowder but in terms of made from scratch or freshness, it's an F. Taste wise I'd say a B-. So this meal just about confirmed for our family that this city is nothing but an overpriced tourist trap high-ends or low. I think next time visiting here will just stick to in and out, del taco and bagels near our hotel, period. With all due respect, truly surreal how people rate this place anything above a 3* MAX, unless you grew up eating Filet-o-Fish sandwiches at McDonalds. read more

This is an old school establishment in the harbor with pretty views and seating inside and out. When you walk in, you can tell it's frequented by locals. People swear by the happy hour. I have been here a few times. Once pre covid for a breakfast buffet and the other times for happy hours. I have always enjoyed what I ordered. They have specials by the day and they send email specials if you subscribe. 3 of us came for dinner on this occasion. They had a $10 off salmon coupon and I just ordered happy hour specials. To drink, we ordered a glass of chardonnay and a bloody mary. My bloody mary was spicy and had a good kick! To eat, we tried the calamari, fried zucchini, the wedge salad and the ahi poke nachos. The calamari were big, plump strips of calamari battered and deep fried. They were fresh and tasty. The zucchini was fresh and had a panko-ish breading and also deep fried. The wedge salad was just the right size for a small entree (after having fried food) and the poke was delicious as well. My only complaint was the pickled ginger on the poke, not a fan. It was around 11:30 and we had been driving for almost 3 hours We had stopped by and asked a couple friendly 'natives' on what was a good restaurant to eat at. Both suggested this restaurant, and one thought that the Happy Hour is very close. We saw the sign and it said that Happy Hour was .... 11am - 6pm! Wow! We went in and was seated right away. I ordered Fried Calamari and it was great and delicious. What was unusual was that it felt more 'solid' and meatier than any other calamari we've ever eaten! Yummy! My wife ordered one of her favorites - Chicken Wings and that was also great. The only minor thing was that the server initially didn't seem overly friendly and a bit abrupt. This was my second visit with my last being two years ago. I had a blueberry vodka lemonade. It had a good amount of liquor. We ordered spinach dip but since we didn't specify, it came with our food. I had the shrimp quesadilla. It was very good. I like that the shrimp were chopped. My husband ordered the linguini with clam sauce. He wasn't really happy with his choice. The pasta was overcooked. The happy hour Pinot Gratio was pretty good, better than some of the other happy hour wines I've had. I also ordered a crab cake, it didn't have as much crab as I thought it should have for $11 each, but the flavors were good and I enjoyed the salsa on top. Luckily we were outside and in between lunch and dinner time so we had the space. The wine was awful - both the Chardonnay and the Sauvignon blanc - but the food was decent. Had to order extra cheese because luckily our server was honest with us and told us it doesn't come with much, and I'm sure glad I did because even with the "extra" cheese it still wasn't very much. This place wasn't the best place we ate at during our trip, but they were accommodating and friendly and for that, I have to give them credit. My wife and I are on a short vacation in Oceanside, CA. Tonight, we visited the Oceanside Broiler for dinner. We began by ordering a Raspberry Lemon Drop, and a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. Both were excellent. The next item was a wedge salad, which we shared. Large hunks of bleu cheese, and a lot of bacon made this a delight. For the main course, we shared an entree of pacific swordfish steak, which came with vegetables and rice pilaf. Th swordfish came garnished with tropical fruit salsa, and was oh so good. Our server, Leia, was outstanding, always checking on us, and making sure we had everything we needed. Oh, and one last thing: the view of Oceanside Harbor is something to behold. Food was average at best. I'm always looking for some good steamers (clams) not enough garlic and too much white wine. Caesar's salad didn't taste like Caesar's salad at all. Jumbo prawns not cooked thoroughly. Very small piece of cod amongst a tremendous amount of batter on the fish and chips plate. After driving for one hour to get there, I was hoping to be amazed! My parents are moving to Oceanside and we were told that there were some nice restaurants overlooking the harbor. Our meal started out great with some really good appetizers. E shared the shrimp cocktail, mussels, and fried calamari. The calamari was especially good, large strips with tempura batter. So, I was a bit disappointed with my entree. It was overheated and overcooked. I got the snapper, but I could hardly taste the fish. Maybe next time I will try something grilled. Anyways, so mixed, but worth another try.
