First, a positive comment. This place does have a pleasant ambiance. For a beer, it seems like a nice place. However, my experience with the food wasn't good at all. I ordered two fish and chips, gave my telephone number and waited. And waited. Finally, after 40 minutes, I stood in line and asked where my order was. The guy behind the counter said, "I texted you." I said, "I didn't receive any text." He then repeated my number and it turns out he got the first digit of my area code wrong. I asked how long the fish and chips were waiting there in a bag on the counter. He couldn't answer. I said, if you couldn't reach me via text, I was sitting right outside and you could have gotten me. No empathy, no effort from the staff. Soggy fish and chips for dinner. Took the train down here to visit my partner that's been here for work. We randomly came across this spot and we're really glad we did. We ordered a shrimp taco, fish taco, and poatoe taco. As well as a spicy fish sandwich and Crab Mac salad. Honestly the food was great, simple and really tasteful. Glad it wasn't one of those places that just look good on social media and then let's you down when you get you're order. Seating is plentiful both in and out side. The rest of the business is more of a tasting room and they have a lot of local craft you can buy to go. Solid spot if you're looking for a quick poke fix. Honestly, we only found this place because we had inKind credits to use, otherwise it might have flown under the radar. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but that's to be expected when eating raw fish. We tried the poke bowl, three tacos, and a fish burger. * Poke - Fresh and flavorful, gone in just a few minutes. * Tacos - Decent, but nothing that stood out. * Fish Burger - The most interesting dish of the bunch. I've only ever had a McDonald's Filet-O-Fish, so this was a whole new experience -- much better quality, and thoroughly enjoyed the burger. The overall vibe is what makes it worth checking out: tucked inside a brewery with some cute shops around the block. My fiancée was craving poke and tacos, and we were originally planning to hit up two different spots -- until we found Shoots Fish & Beer. So glad we did! Not only did they have both, but the vibe here was amazing. Total win. The environment is super fun and relaxed. The staff were friendly, accommodating, and even gave us some solid recommendations. Everything we tried was good -- the poke was decent, though I wish it had a bit more flavor. The spicy fish burger (one of their recommendations) was surprisingly delicious and a definite standout. Only downside (and reason for the star off) was finding a hair in my shrimp taco. It happens, but still kind of a buzzkill. That said, I'd definitely come back if I'm ever in the area again. Stopped by here for lunch. Seemed lively and clean. 4.5 stars overall. Loved the seating options that are outdoor on a patio, outdoor in between other shops like Pop Pie Co and Stella Jeans, or indoors by the bar. Vibes were great and looked clean. The server was super friendly and let me try a taste of different drafts. Got a pineapple lemon kombucha, three taco combo, the tuna crunch wrap, and poke combo. If we lived nearby we would come here a lot more because it was an enjoyable eating experience. The tacos were smaller than expected but very flavorful. The shrimp taco was so fresh 5/5. The fish taco was okay. The pork taco was great. Poke was fresh but $26 was a bit steep but still glad we got it. Kombucha draft was really yummy. The tuna crunch wrap was new for me. Really yummy 3 taco combo: I had 2 fish tacos and one shrimp all super yummy. My gringo palate even loved the warm burn of the sauces! Hubs had the combo too but he tried the pulled pork, fish and shrimp. He ate them all before I finished and said he wished they had chips and salsa. Cool spot for a quick bite to eat and some good beers from BottleCraft! It is a casual counter service style restaurant. They have poke bowls, tacos, and some speciality items. We tried the Cheyne's OG poke bowl, the elote corn, the pescaderos taco, and musubi. The poke bowl came with a good amount of poke. It was flavorful and fresh. The pescadero taco had yellowtail since that was the catch of the day. The taco was not very flavorful and not something I would get again. The elote corn was a fun side dish to try, but also not a menu item that I would need to have again. The musubi was flavorful and tasted like a sushi roll without sushi. If I were to return, I would get the poke bowl again. This location of Shoots Fish & Beer has a large outdoor area for seating. Delicious. Priced accordingly. I'm from Hawaii, so my Poke standards are pretty high amongst other people, and this lived up to the rave very nicely. Had the Cheynes OG Poke Bowl and Ceviche Tostada. Both were vibrant with flavor. Beer was tasty. Had a white rascal for a taste of colorado and then a There Does Not Exist IPA. Best IPA i've had in quite a while. I stopped by Shoots Fish & Beer with a friend on a Saturday afternoon. We ordered and paid at the register, were assigned a number, and chose our own seating outside. The ambiance was friendly, and the bar area seemed to get more busy and lively as we were wrapping up our meal. FOOD: I had initially wanted to get poke, but was a little taken aback by the steep price yet small looking portions. Fishwich (4/5) - A pretty pricey but decently sized, yummy fish sandwich. The fish patty was nicely seasoned and you'll definitely taste the hints of dill. I loved the addition of the pickled red onions. Musubi (4/5) - An interesting, unique take on the classic spam musubi. This is the first time I've seen spam musubi in a roll form, so points for creativity. Potato Taco (4.5/5) - I did not try this personally, so this is my friend's rating. Definitely a little pricy for a street sized taco, but according to my friend, it's super yummy and one of her go-tos. SERVICE: My interactions with the staff were quite limited, so I feel no need to give that a rating. I only encountered staff when I ordered and when food was brought out to my table. (Great for introverts!) All interactions were pleasant and nothing out of the ordinary though. You'll be able to find and obtain condiments, napkins, and utensils on your own. TLDR// Shoots is a really nice place with an interesting menu. Everything I had was delicious and I would be open to eating here again. Always a go to for me! They have unique options on the daily menu. The swordfish sandwich was good, but I think the spicy tuna one is way better when that's available. They recently had tator tots with caviar and that was 10/10. Will definitely continue to go here and introduce more friends to it. Also love that you can get a beer or other craft drinks here. Wow!!!! What a difference in experience! This is my 1st time eating at the restaurant. The first time I had this was at a wedding and they catered the event. (Not the best experience) I decided to come inside and try it myself to see what all the hype was about and to see what the owner Jaiden was talking about. I went to the Oceanside location. A little hard to find the 1st time. I drove past it and had to go back around in a circle. Not much parking. Very cute Ambiance. You order and then they bring it to you. On the other side you can order beer or wine. Behind that they have a little store where you can purchase beer and wine. I came with a group and we ordered a little bit of everything! Always a good options on a nice day! We frequent here often and their fish is so fresh. My boyfriend always gets the fish wings and says they are great. We also got a Kahlúa pork taco, white fish tostada, tuna sashimi, and spam musubi. All were great and we left full. We ordered the spam musubi and the fish wings (crispy fish collar that had spicy Korean wing sauce). They have a good beer selection and an area where you can buy single bottles, cans, or wine. Was happy to see some Russian River bottles(Pliney is the best double IPA you will EVER have) in the fridge. Grabbed a Pizza Port Chronic Ale (under $3) and there was a $1.50 corkage fee which I still believe was cheaper than most of the beers on tap. Bartenders were so nice and let me try a sample of a yuzu sour that was on draft. They even poured my beer into a glass which was appreciated. Lots of young parents with their kids hang out here and I understand why. The musubi was excellent and unlike any other musubi I've had before. It was similar to a sushi roll. The wings are a cool idea, but kinda difficult to eat. I want to check out the Carlsbad location which has some different menu items. read more

Originally, we were here for Bottlecraft (attached beer bar) and decided to pair or beer with some light bites. Service was incredibly friendly and they answered any and all questions. They have a pretty straight forward menu with a side menu for any weekly and catch of the day specials. Their menu offers poke, tacos, hand rolls, and whatever their specials menu has: burgers, salads, desserts (so def take a look at that specials menu). We placed an order and they gave us a number to leave on our table. Food came out pretty quickly but our order was wrong. I think it was just a matter or miscommunication and they didn't place the order correctly, but they were really nice about it and once we let them know what we meant, they quickly came back with the missing items. Everything came out hot and fresh. Portions were small but still good for sharing if you order a bit of everything or if you're just looking for a light bite. I truly hate leaving negative reviews, but this experience was too concerning not to share. We were celebrating a birthday and the manager asked the chef to lend us a knife to cut our cake. While cutting it, the knife accidentally broke. Instead of handling it professionally, the chef came out and immediately began arguing with us, insisting he didn't believe our explanation. What should have been a simple conversation escalated quickly. The manager tried her best to de-escalate the situation, which I appreciate truly, but the chef and several of his friends became increasingly confrontational and were getting in our faces over the incident. It was uncomfortable and unnecessary. The friends were clearly very intoxicated and just looking for a fight. The most alarming part was when our group decided to leave to avoid further conflict -- the chef and his friends positioned themselves at multiple exits as if to continue the confrontation. At that point, it felt less like a misunderstanding and more like an attempt to intimidate us. A broken knife is unfortunate, and we would have gladly resolved it calmly. What isn't acceptable is the lack of professionalism and the escalation that followed. A birthday celebration should never end with guests feeling unsafe. I hope management takes this seriously and ensures no other customers have a similar experience. read more

The spam Musubi is rolled like sushi and topped with different toppings each week - in our case a delicious spicy tuna blend. It was so good, we ended up ordering another one soon after. We also enjoyed the San Miguel Fish Taco. It was breaded and drizzled with a delicious crema sauce. The taste had a good kick without being overly spicy. What a great little place! Little because it's tucked inside Bottlecraft brewing company on Tremont St. It's either a Japanese-influenced taco place, or a taco-influenced Japanese place. Either way, I had a good (but small) fish taco with an order of sliced Musubi, dusted with furikake. Both were very tasty. Shoots is a great place to go if you are looking to try some fresh poke! The blue fin ahi tuna poke is very fresh and you can taste it in every bite. I love the spicy albacore poke, make with cucumbers and rice with furikake and sesame salad! It's so good and the fish tastes very fresh. My hubby enjoyed the Kailua pork taco. Awesome food & vibes but be prepared for super small portions (smaller than kids portions). I was shocked to see it. For example, one of the items is a 3-piece taco and it's the smallest taco I've ever seen. Also the poke bowl isn't even close to a traditional size. It's like half of an appetizer.
