Hibiscus Marg ($14) and Mexican Candy ($15)
    Erich C.

Came in for an early dinner and to try this place out. Have heard many things via social media. For starters, we got complimentary chips & salsa. The salsa was good IMO, though the rest of the table thought it was too spicy. For drinks we chose a Mexican Candy ($15) and Hibiscus Margarita ($14). They were okay. I think not really worth the price (barely any buzz). I'll probably stick with a beer next time but that's okay. For food, we ordered the Chile Relleno & Cheese Enchilada ($20), Queso Birria Taco Plate ($18) and for me, the Fajita Mixta ($26). Everyone liked their food. For me, I've had better fajitas elsewhere (Mariscos Hualtulco is my fav) but these were still good (except no green bell pepper for some reason). I noticed the *new* menu price for the fajitas was $29 (Mixta), but on the bill it was still $26 (old menu price). So be aware, the new price is coming obviously. I want to try the Molcajete but $38 is a stretch! Atmosphere was okay. It was a Saturday and although it was early, I expected a more vibrant feel, but maybe that comes later in the night. There was plenty of seating. Parking was okay, but the lot was oddly packed however even though the restaurant was not. I would come back to try something else on the menu, but with so many great Mexican options in our area, they need that extra something to attract more patrons. A happy hour with $10 margs for starters would be nice.

Evanga Lounge is what you can expect for your typical California local Mexican restaurant. Located in a strip mall close to the beach in Oceanside California. The service was good and they had a lot of things to choose from on their menu and bar. I thought their prices were average and the burrito was a good value. I wasn't blown away by the food but would stop by again if I was visiting

    Molcajete, Evaga Fries, Quesabirria tacos

Highly recommend the quesabirria tacos, those were so good. The Cali burrito was also really good. Molcajete was alright, it was a fun thing to get for the whole table, it's a bit spicy. Evaga fries were pretty good too, nothing too special but it does come with carne asada and shrimp so that was good. One of our friends got the chicken quesadilla but they said it wasn't good, but it is large in size for $13. Inside wasn't the most nice, the lighting was hard to look at, but service was decent everything came out pretty fast for our huge party of 7.

This past weekend, my partner and I checked out a little Mexican spot in a shopping plaza. From the outside, it might not look like much -- but don't judge a book by its cover. We had the loaded fries with steak and shrimp, and they nailed it: perfectly cooked, tender meat, juicy shrimp, crispy fries, and no skimping on the protein. I went for the Baja fish burrito, which was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. Both cocktails were spot-on( forgot the names) Prices are a bit on the higher side for a small plaza spot, but with food and service this good, it's absolutely worth it. We'll be back!

Wow! New favorite Mexican restaurant in Oceanside! Well north county! Food was incredible- loved the hand made tortillas. Jorge was great! Managing everything on his own but still created a welcoming and friendly environment. Got to hear his story and how the business got started. Will 100% be back!

We arrived and I guess they had a slow day and had just closed the kitchen early. The guy who I think was the owner said no problem we can make two more things. The surf and turf quesadilla was fabulous and I had enough left over for lunch the next day. Good chips and salsa too.

Best chile relleno and enchilada plate I ever had!!! They make their tortillas in house with fresh masa. Their salsa is bomb!! And the owner was super nice and personable. The beans are Peruvian and way healthier you guys will love it!!! Love that it's kid friendly. Great atmosphere overall. Great vibes.

Sometimes it may seem like Oceanside is lacking in establishments that offer some nightlife entertainment options. Introducing EVAGA LOUNGE. Opened in 2023, Evaga is Oceanside's premier tequila lounge that serves up some of the best quality Mexican dishes & tequila just east of the 5 Hwy. Located on Oceanside Blvd, just east of Frazier Farms and in the Dunkin Donuts parking lot, Evaga Lounge features live music & DJs, club-style lighting, a dance floor and some truly delicious food & drinks. Although many consider this area to be "sketchy", there have been more businesses opening up in this area and it is developing fast. There is also a huge apartment complex being built across the street, so there is a lot of money being poured into the area. Evaga Lounge offers spacious interior dining that is perfect for families & large groups. They have ample table-seating and there's also a full-size bar & lots televisions to watch sports & entertainment. When desired, they clear the tables from the center, revealing a giant dance-floor, turn on the disco-lighting, cue the DJ and they turn into a club that's perfect for celebrations & parties. What I really appreciate is that although this tequila bar specializes in margaritas, their skilled mixologists can craft any tasty concoction for you from their full bar of spirits. The owners, Mike & George, run a smooth ship. I can see them constantly making small improvements to operations. Evaga Lounge are famous for their Chicharrones Tacos that were showcased at THE O'SIDE FLAVOR 2023. But they also have delicious caldos, burritos, aguachiles, nachos & fries plates, birria ramen, mariscos, ceviche and a full array of tacos, all with handmade tortillas. Overall, I feel Evaga Lounge is a great addition to the Oceanside nightlife scene, with great drinks & really flavorful Mexican dishes and the perfect location. I recommend

As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the host (I forgot his name, but it starts with a V?). Super friendly and helped all of us feel at home; Would occasionally check-in to make sure our needs were taken care of too. Sometimes you walk into bars and deal with judgy/pretentious people or service workers and we didn't get that impression at all from any of the staff here. My girlies and I ended up sitting in the outside area, which honestly was a great choice due to the humid weather AND we got a great view of the beach sunset. It's a bit stuffy (when it's hot), but still nice inside the establishment. We also ordered some drinks and tiramisu to make the most of our time there. Overall, Sound By The Sea is a great spot to catch-up and unwind during one of those longer summer nights (cue the Summer Nights song by Lil Rob lol). This was my second time here, and I love everything about this place. First of all, kudos to the bartender--I forgot her name, but she was incredibly generous and kind. She accidentally forgot my drink and kept apologizing, but I told her it was totally fine since we had a large party. To make up for it, she gave me two shots instead of one and even added a big discount. The ambiance of this place is unique and very artsy. If you're looking for a cool, one-of-a-kind spot to hang out, this is it. There's so much attention to detail throughout--even the restroom door is thoughtfully designed with a modern, creative touch. My friend ordered a variety of cocktails, and everyone enjoyed them. The food was great as well. I ordered the hummus plate, and it was the best I've ever had--so fresh and served in a generous portion. My friends tried the pizza and a few other items from the menu, and everything got a thumbs up. If you're in the area looking for a cool place to hang out or planning a party, this is the spot. I'll definitely be back again soon.

My husband and I stopped in to Frankie's on a recent Saturday at 5pm. Our kiddo had a performance down the street at 6pm so we had a little time to kill beforehand. The neighboring spots looked busy so we decided to go with Frankie's, seeing as they were less inundated at the time and we had a time constraint. Another allure was the sandwich board at the front door advertising discounted cocktails - sold!! Inside there were a handful of patrons at the bar, another table with two additional patrons and maybe a couple on the patio so it was fairly quiet and slow, so it looked promising. We headed up to the bar and hung out behind two empty barstools, the single female bartender greeted us and said she'd be right with us, but then continued chatting up the seated patrons, serving them and their friends that had just joined (AFTER we'd arrived). We moved a little further down to the handoff area where she was making drinks to save her having to come back to us again, and stood there for probably 10 minutes while she took orders and made all the drinks. We commented that she looked like she could definitely use a hand, and she said they were still adjusting into summer hours and determining whether more coverage was needed at this time - I figured 5pm on a Saturday should be primetime, so I'm not sure in what universe having a single bartender makes any sense. Finally we placed our cocktail orders, waited while they were made, and then put our card down for the tab. After we'd paid, I noticed the cocktails were more expensive than advertised on the sandwich board out front - I couldn't find a disclaimer anywhere that said only certain cocktails were included, so while it was a bummer I wasn't about to wait another 10-15 minutes to catch her attention and ask for clarification. Just a heads up to beware of whatever is advertised that might summon you in from the sidewalk, and make sure you ask before you make your selection. Drinks were very subpar, nothing special to write home about. While I can appreciate the Gatsby-esque vibe they're trying to uphold at Frankie's, they really should increase their staffing especially during prime weekend and evening hours, and be more transparent about their specials and what's included and what's not. Hindsight is 20/20, and the low volume of patrons when everything else around it was going off was probably a sign, so we'll skip Frankie's our next go around.

Even though I somehow manage to lose almost every time I visit (the players always seem to beat me! ), I've always had a good time overall. The atmosphere is usually fun, the staff has generally been friendly, and I have to give credit where it's due--the house chow mein is phenomenal and honestly one of my favorite things to order whenever I'm there. Unfortunately, my experience on August 4th between approximately 7:30 and 8:00 PM completely changed the tone of the evening. The dealer working Table 19, Matt, was incredibly rude and came across as if he didn't want to be there. It wasn't just directed at me either--it seemed like everyone at the table noticed his attitude. You could tell by the reactions from the other players that they were just as surprised by how he was interacting with guests. As a General Manager of a restaurant, I understand better than most that customer service isn't always easy. We all have stressful days, difficult guests, and moments where we'd rather be anywhere else. Hospitality can be exhausting. But at the end of the day, whether you're serving food or dealing cards, you're still in the hospitality industry. Guests are choosing to spend their money at your business, and your attitude can completely shape their experience. I'm not expecting someone to be overly energetic or fake, but a smile, some professionalism, and basic courtesy go a long way--especially in a position where tips are part of the job. I would encourage management to review the camera footage from Table 19 during that time frame. It should give a clear picture of the interactions that took place. If possible, speaking with some of the players who were at that table may also provide valuable feedback, as it definitely didn't seem like I was the only one who felt uncomfortable with the experience. This review isn't meant to attack the casino as a whole because I've genuinely had many enjoyable visits here. It's simply disappointing when one employee's attitude overshadows what has otherwise been a place I've enjoyed coming back to. I'm giving 2 stars because I still like Ocean's Eleven overall, the food is excellent, and I've had plenty of great experiences in the past. I just hope management addresses situations like this so future guests receive the welcoming experience that keeps people coming back.
