Came in for an early dinner and to try this place out. Have heard many things via social media. For starters, we got complimentary chips & salsa. The salsa was good IMO, though the rest of the table thought it was too spicy. For drinks we chose a Mexican Candy ($15) and Hibiscus Margarita ($14). They were okay. I think not really worth the price (barely any buzz). I'll probably stick with a beer next time but that's okay. For food, we ordered the Chile Relleno & Cheese Enchilada ($20), Queso Birria Taco Plate ($18) and for me, the Fajita Mixta ($26). Everyone liked their food. For me, I've had better fajitas elsewhere (Mariscos Hualtulco is my fav) but these were still good (except no green bell pepper for some reason). I noticed the *new* menu price for the fajitas was $29 (Mixta), but on the bill it was still $26 (old menu price). So be aware, the new price is coming obviously. I want to try the Molcajete but $38 is a stretch! Atmosphere was okay. It was a Saturday and although it was early, I expected a more vibrant feel, but maybe that comes later in the night. There was plenty of seating. Parking was okay, but the lot was oddly packed however even though the restaurant was not. I would come back to try something else on the menu, but with so many great Mexican options in our area, they need that extra something to attract more patrons. Highly recommend the quesabirria tacos, those were so good. The Cali burrito was also really good. Molcajete was alright, it was a fun thing to get for the whole table, it's a bit spicy. This past weekend, my partner and I checked out a little Mexican spot in a shopping plaza. From the outside, it might not look like much -- but don't judge a book by its cover. My girlfriend found this place. Came here with her parents. Everything that came out looked and tasted delicious! Chips were house made and came out hot. Good size portions. What a great find!! While on the hunt for a place to eat, we stumbled on this place and my goodness... we were so lucky to have found it. Food was amazing!!! From the chips and salsa to all of the various dishes our party had.... Food was Authentic and the flavors were spot on. They were very accommodating for our large party of ten and quickly sat us. I waited a while to get service or acknowledge. Meanwhile some man I later learned was the owner was talking up the girls, recommending food, bringing them drinks with his back towards me. When looking for someplace new to celebrate a family member's birthday, I stumbled upon Evaga Lounge on Yelp and proposed it to the group and everyone was excited to try someplace new (to us). We called ahead and made a reservation just to be sure we'd get a table quickly seeing as it was a Friday night, and whoever answered the phone was friendly and assured us we were set for that evening. Upon arrival we were seated right away, menus brought to the table and drink orders taken. We ordered a variety of beers and house margaritas, all of which were well-crafted. We ordered a kid's meal right away (because if you've ever met a hangry toddler, you get it...) and took a little while to choose the rest of our entrees. I ordered tacos, my daughter had a quesadilla with beans and guacamole, and everyone else ordered different kinds of burritos. I failed to take any photos of the food from this visit but the consensus from the whole table was that Evaga will surely be a staple dining location for our family going forward. We visited again a couple weeks ago and the poor owner (I believe) was the only one working on the floor at that time of day. Fortunately he knows what he's doing and he was serving all his tables quickly and efficiently so no one was having to wait long at all. We again had a variety of different dishes and everyone was satisfied with their food. I will say the tacos this time around were just okay - we had ordered a carne asada, a pollo and an al pastor and they were a little lacking in flavor and toppings, but we still enjoyed them regardless. Came to eat here with my parents and they were super friendly about everything - even when they were a little slow with the menu. Super fast with the food!!! When they didn't have a diet soda my mom wanted they gave the whole story on why they currently don't have it and gave their apologies which wasn't even necessary but made me feel amazing about them. For me, I got chupasedos and I loved it. It's a thin layer of rice with cucumbers and orange slices with tajin on it. The shrimp is wonderfully seasoned and cooked. My half star docked was for the freshness of the shrimps. It's was not the absolute freshest. My first shrimp burrito that I had the very first time had already set that standard for me. It was definitely good though. I cleared it off the plate. Overall, it has improved from my last visit. But is still not as wonderful as my very first visit!! Kudos to our bartender for the evening. To start, this is a Mexican restaurant not a lounge. It's a bit small - one room with a few high and several low tables and chairs and a bar. It unfortunately faces west in the evening and gets the sun blazing and blindingly coming through the restaurant length windows. The menu is fairly simple Mexican fare but with a rather generous list of seafood choices, including octopus. The waiter was a bit overworked but friendly and accurate taking the orders. The $12 margaritas were served in low whiskey glasses not margarita glasses and with all the ice in there weren't worth the price, but tasty. The $20 asada fajitas were a real winner and the side onions and red/yellow/green peppers were buttery and done to perfection. My wife really enjoyed the bidia (birria), but it looked a little greasy to me. A couple can get two drinks each, dinner, and chips&salsa for $80-$90 before tax and tip. All in all, a 3.5 on the 1 to 5 scale. The food beat the atmosphere and drinks. read more
