This is a small but fun spot if you're looking for a drink with a great ocean view. The space itself is pretty small and limited, so it can fill up quickly, but that also gives it a cozy laid-back vibe. You check in by showing your ID first and then walk upstairs to the bar. The bartender was really friendly and the drinks were actually really good and well made. I didn't try any of the food this time, but the drinks alone made it worth stopping by. Overall it's a cool little spot to grab a drink and enjoy the view.

Stopped in for a drink and it's a party! Located on the fourth floor, it has some really cool views. We were able to sit with a drink and see the ocean. They also serve brunch! This would be a great place for a girls brunch or a bachelorette party place to stop by. There was a live DJ and it was so cutely decorated

Vibrant rooftop restaurant and bar serving tropical drinks and their version of Carribean/Hawaaiian food. We had a group of 10 people reservation for our friend's birthday. Although the restaurant confirmed they can seat 10 people they had to find extra seats for all of us while 7 people crowded into a booth that probably only seats 6 people comfortably. Our waitress was very nice, always checked on us and made sure our experience was great. I ordered the Carribe Welcome cocktail which came in a real coconut. For food I ordered the Hulu Hulu half chicken bc with coconut rice and veggies. All of my food tasted great. Some other people did not feel this way about their food. Some though their chicken sandwich was very dry and needed a lot of sauce to make it taste good. Surf and turf tacos for $18 for 2 small tacos that did not fill them and pork nachos that were very salty. I'd probably come mostly for drinks than the food.

Love the rooftop view!!! The atmosphere, the people, the plants everywhere are incredible! It was such a nice day. The restaurant is in a building mixed with other restaurants of the floor so that was pretty cool too. We were luckily able to squeeze in without reservation but sounds having a reservation is a good idea. The menu we got was for breakfast and we were super excited. It was more Hawaiian than Caribbean. I don't think there was any Caribbean dishes on the menu we got. But we got loco moco which tasted more like Indian curry to us but still good. The chicken and waffles were amazing !! Crispy skin! Potatoes were soft and flavorful. Waffles soft, it had some flavor spices to it but I couldn't pin point the flavor but it was so so good. I don't know what I was tasting but pretty great. We were just expecting more Caribbean food so we were a bit surprised seeing the menu. But overall super great love it!

I had gone to Stone brewery first. I was told to take the elevator and go to the very top floor. Upon asking somebody where the elevator was. She directed it to me and then stated that's OK. I don't take the stairs either. I informed her that I am currently healing from a broken leg so stairs are not good for me right now. That comment still has not sit well with me. Besides, I wasn't even told that there were stairs available all I was told by a stone brewery employee was to take the elevator. Went up the elevator, was greeted by the bartender who was very sweet. Sat down at a booth. I ordered the espresso martini. It did take a while to get. Well, I ordered a breakfast burrito. I got the breakfast burrito before I got the espresso martini. As I am relaxing, enjoying my first rooftop experience. I asked for a box to go. As I start boxing up my food I pick up with my fork, a piece of egg and a hair popped out of it. I told the server I hate to be that type of person, but I believe there's a hair in my food. Thankfully, she said, the manager said that they can remake it. But I was told that things happen that the wind blows things into items. I didn't have the courage to tell her that the hair was mixed in the egg. I ordered a food item to go. Waited for both the food item to go in my new burrito so I could just leave. I use the inKind web base pay system. As first time rooftop bar experience goes this was not great. Only thing good about it was the espresso martini the bartender who made it, And my waitress.

Really aesthetic rooftop spot in the downtown area. They really lean into the disco and Hawaiian themes. Service was friendly but unfortunately they made the chilaquiles incorrectly twice for my friend- seems that there is not pineapple salsa and just pico and a standard verde (might be to be in line with the theme). The burger on the loco moco was a bit charred but the gravy saved it. Serving sizes were enough to fill us and drinks were tasty!

I absolutely loved this place! The decor makes you feel like you are in Hawaii. Our bartender was great, I think his name was Brent and he made our drinks swiftly and they were so good. I really loved the Mai Tai it had the perfect balance of sweet, tart and liquor. We also got the salt and pepper wings which was perfectly seasoned and the right amount of spiciness!

The view here is amazing, we wanted a view of the water and it was so perfect. The restaurant was themed, a tropical hawaiin so most of the dishes had sweet pork in it, but I had no complaints. The drinks were really good. The food came out in a decent time frame. This is a great place for dinner. Service was great. Nachos were literally huge so definitely share it with 1 or 2 other ppl.

Our drinks were good--except the Bloody Mary. They didn't serve the steak burrito --which a few of us wanted so we ordered a couple of basic items on the menu. Service was really good and the view from the rooftop was super pretty! We saw a little bit of sun but a tad overcast and chilly for November

We took one of my friends here for her birthday celebration and it did not disappoint! The food was fresh and delicious! The service was inviting and we loved the decor on the rooftop. I will admit it gets hot up there so be aware. But overall great experience!

We came here on our adventure to try out the different rooftop restaurants in SD. You walk up a flight of stairs from the hotel lobby and are transported into a tropical paradise. The staff were very accommodating to us because of our early reservation. We ordered a combination of food and drinks and had a great time to end the week.

Fun spot on a warm sunny afternoon. Loud DJ but good music. Good drinks and food. No real view of ocean, just partial view because hotel is only 3-4 stories. I'd return.

I came here for birthday celebration. The hostesses were very rude. There were many open tables, but we were not able to be seated quickly due to a lack of servers. I had to check several times on the status of the table. We ended up sitting at the bar. Our bartender was phenomenal. The pomegranate margarita was divine. However, the food was extremely spicy. The tacos were so spicy that I couldn't even eat them and ended up eating a side of refried beans as my meal overall, the view from the rooftop was so pretty at sunset, but did not make up for the poor service and the mediocre food.

Ask the Community - Cococabana

Are kids allowed?

Yes, but after dark it's more of an adult only environment.

How is parking?

It's Downtown Oceanside, so it's street parking. You can usually find parking within a block walk though. It's not bad.

Is it pet friendly?

Yes, but after dark it gets pretty packed, so I wouldn't recommend having a dog up there then. Q&A downstairs has a nice back patio for pets in evening.

Do they have tvs?

No they don't

What's the difference between standard & high top seating?

Standard seating is what I imagine to be like a normal chair. High top seating is like a bar stool.

Immigrant food of all kinds is some of the tastiest, most satisfying food anywhere…read more Immigrants often walk the thin line between adjusting to their new environment while longing to the flavors from back home. Caribbean taste hits on many such points. The food seems to be taken directly from the Caribbean shores from which they came. With strong nods to African foods, the menu includes oxtail, curry goat and of course jerk chicken. My dish, oxtail with plantains, veggies (cabbage, corn, peas and green beans), rice 'n' beans was flavorful, with each component perfectly made. My request for "very soft" oxtail, was answered with "it's very soft" (and indeed it was fall of the bone, soft), and all ingredients came together to create a plate which would feel right at home on a sandy beach shack. I'll have to come back to try the jerk chicken and curry goat! The interior is in dire need of a make-up. Mismatched chairs and older tables hint at a clientele that doesn't sit and eat here often. The kitchen walls and the Covid era barriers all need a touch of paint, and would someone please fix the crooked gate leading to the kitchen? I would've loved to see the same dedication and pride and attention to detail that are obvious in the food, in the interior of the restaurant. Those details aside, if you want a REAL taste of the Caribbean, come here!
