I arrived around 6:10 p.m. on Monday, June 29, and the restaurant didn't close until 7:00 p.m., so I didn't think arriving then would be an issue. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the moment I walked in. There was a woman and a younger gentleman working behind the counter, and both seemed visibly annoyed by my presence. The woman looked at me, let out a loud sigh, slammed the microwave door shut, and turned her back to me. The younger man said something to her in Spanish, she glanced back at me, and then turned away again. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable ordering. I understand everyone has bad days, but no customer should feel like they're inconveniencing the staff simply by walking in during business hours. I left feeling embarrassed, with my family waiting in the car for dinner, and we ended up going to Panda Express instead. Customer service can make or break a dining experience. Never would I have thought that tucked away in an unsuspecting little kiosk at the Carlsbad Premium Outlets, there would be a spot churning out above average Mexican food that would put much more popular & expensive Mexican joints to shame, yet here we are... Tacos Oasis is quite literally and figuratively a little oasis for your Mexican food cravings and then some. The carne asada tacos & their fried bananas are better than average all while being quite affordable. Not to mention great customer service and efficiency. This little stand at the Carlsbad outlets has some fantastic tacos and tamales too! After seeing the reviews on Yelp we had to give it a try and were impressed. There is a limited menu of items but we got the tacos and a tamale and it was really super tasty and a reasonable price. As you can see in my photos, you get plenty of meat and also the guacamole on top was not skimpy. There's a sauce bar and a few places to sit next to the stand. The service was really nice and food came out very quickly. I could eat so many of these! ----TL;DR---- PROS: location is convenient right in the middle of the outlet mall. 10/21 - Came to Carlsbad/Encinitas for a weekend getaway. Stop by the outlets to do some shopping so decided to have a taco for lunch. Still as good as before. The flavor is good and made to order.
