Oceanside spot that has changed hands a couple times. Atmosphere-Large space. Unusual neon glo. Not warm & cozy feeling. We came during Happy Hr. drink prices are only $5 for draft beers & mixed drinks. Appetizers are all $10. Had the brisket nachos & Lettuce wraps neither of which were really good. Friend had the burger/draft beer plate for $20. Burgers looked good. Wouldn't rush back.

Came here to meet a friend. Worst decision made. The customer service is horrible. We were seated almost right away. There was 1other table occupied in the section. Waitress came by within 5 mins and took our drink order, I also ordered brisket wontons because they sounded good. I honestly didn't know what I wanted and I was kinda waiting on the appetizer but 20 mins in and still nothing. I decided on a sandwich, I'm then informed they don't have that sandwich today, shouldn't you inform people if your restaurant is out of a menu item? Asked about appetizer again, informed "it's still coming". At this point have no clue what I wanted, still waiting on my appetizer. At this point I'm just over this place. We waited about 45 mins, no refills, no food. I got up and found my waitress asked her to cancel my order she apologized and asked for me to just give her a free minutes to find out what is happening. I sit back down and she comes about 5 mins later to say the kitchen lost the ticket and they are getting a manager to come speak with me. Waited another 10 mins, no manager but they brought out the wontons.....an hour after ordering, no thanks. I didn't eat them, left them on the table and walked out. Horrible service. Will never return again. By the time we left half the other tables were filled and they had their food but not our table. Oh but they did bring the complimentary bread when they brought the drinks so I guess a star for minimal effort

I watched the World Cup game and had so much fun! Found out they do bottomless mimosas on Sundays and they have a DJ so decided to do that for my birthday weekend. Sunday morning wasn't that busy, our server was amazing. She was checking in on us regularly. The music wasn't too loud that we couldn't hear each so I appreciated that very much. It was a very humid day and we sat next to the open window and the breeze coming in was perfect! They have an additional brunch menu and we got the chorizo hash and chilaquiles. The chorizo hash was ok and enough for one person. The chilaquiles was a way bigger plate and I think two people can share it. Overall great experience! I'll definitely come back

Very different vibe than when this was heritage. It was like being at a Mexico bar/restaurant. The music was loud with some awesome songs chosen by the dj- yes, there was a live dj! Even on a Saturday they had happy hour deals so we got drinks and food for an amazing price. Servers were all fast and friendly. I'm excited to go back for a fun brunch next time.

Finally got to try Hill Street Brewing and I have to say I was very impressed by their food. My mom and I happened to stop by during their Wing Wednesday special of 75 cent wings. We tried the buffalo, bbq, ND dry rub and really enjoyed all 3. I noticed the couple next to us ordered nachos which looked phenomenal as well. Service was good. They were a bit short staff and it did take a while to place our orders in initially but then the service improved as dinner went on. Will I return? Absolutely! They have great food. Great ambience. Food specials. And parking!

Said I wouldn't come here again due to inconsistent experiences but my mother in law wanted to and this really solidified that. I checked out the yelp page first and was kinda surprised the overall 4.5 rating has turned to 3.5 but not anymore Just to start while fresh in my mind: service was terrible. They were "short staffed" ok so that can explain the hour wait for our food. I'm not upset about that. What was upsetting is the attitude we received. Syrup was asked for. Didn't come. When we told our waitress she said "well you didn't ask me for it" with an unnecessary rude tone. Then the manager came over and asked if everything was good, was told nachos came with no chiles and she also had an attitude about it. No one was really apologetic about the time or experience as you would think someone proud of their restaurant would not try to blame the customer for the shortcomings of the meal. Now about the meal: again, issues with consistency. The wings that I love and were great twice were completely different. They were super saucy and less crispy. Basically became the same wings you can get most places. Also didn't seem to be the juicy big meat ones as before. I got the pulled pork sandwich which was really dry. The nachos were very sad. Most of the chips had literally nothing on them. I get nachos won't always be completely loaded on each chip anywhere you go but each chip should at least have a DROP of cheese. Never seen nachos this lame even at a movie theater. They were also out of fish, prime rib, chilaquiles (not sure exactly what part of the dish as pulled pork or another meat could be subbed for carnitas and they obviously weren't out of chips) at 1pm on a Sunday. It was busy but based off the declining reviews (many 4/5 stars changed to 2/3) and the history of this location I really don't see it lasting much longer

This place has been here a while in a few different names but they have the food figured out. The barbecue is amazing, large TVs and a full bar. We had the Waygu brisket (one of the best briskets I have had) and the charro beans (has some meat, jalapeños and charro beans - really good!). We will be back for sure!!

We've seen a few restaurants take a chance at this location on the corner of the 101 Hwy and Vista Way in Oceanside, but we hope Hill Street Brewing is here to stay. They have a very cool vibe, nice decor, comfortable and plenty of seating inside and outside. There's parking on-site, but it can be filled up quickly on busy days. Overall, the space is inviting and great for friendly gatherings. We've come a couple times for their Wednesday Wings special and it has been a great deal. Eight wings for under a buck each; hard to beat that. The wings were flavorful and cooked to perfection. The service has also been great. Our servers have cheerful, attentive, and made us feel at home. Hill Stree has definitely brought a positive change to this spot and we'll keep coming back.

February 2026 Review Update : Hill Street Brewing continues to expand its presence into the Oceanside community and they are very popular and have gained many patrons in the process. Most popular is their Happy Hour, which is EVERY DAY (including the weekends). It runs from 3:00pm to 5:30pm and grants that extra 30 minutes for those who leave work at 5pm. During Happy Hour, you can get $5 wells, beers & wines; but even better, you can get their appetizers for $10... and some of them are huge! The portions are generous with their Wagyu brisket nachos & fries. It also feels like every chip & nacho is individually seasoned (see my pictures). I love that they have monthly specials too. January they had 2-for-1 drink specials. February they have that Kids Eat Free. With special deals, generous portions, good service, being dog-friendly and kid-friendly, this locally-owned bbq destination really shines in Oceanside.

Went to Hill Street for the first time last week and really love what they have done with the place. It's got a fun hip vibe and I would consider hanging out with friends there. They also have great happy hour and January 2 for 1 drink specials. The food was really good and had unique flavors. There were also SO MANY gluten free options which I was thrilled to see. Most of their menu is marked gf which makes ordering so much easier for me. My only complaint would be the time it took to get our food. We put in an appetizer and waited at least 25 min before our server asked the kitchen to find out they were out of queso and it wasn't coming. I would think once the order was placed, the kitchen would notify her they were out immediately. It also took a very long time for our entrees to come out. If you can work on your kitchen/server communication and kitchen speed I will be a very loyal customer!

    June drink special

The cornbread bites are delicious and the wagyu brisket is very well made. They charge a 3% credit card fee. Service is very slow even with half or fewer tables filled.

These are the 2 beef ribs. Again tasty but not worth 59.00.

Service was really good. My complaint is the Dino ribs are 2 beef ribs for 59.00 way too much and sides not included. They were very tasty but not worth the cost. I thoought it would be big ribs. Go with the hamburger or brisket even french dip looked great.

Hadn't been here since the newest turnover to "HillStreet Brewing". It was formerly Heritage and several other restaurants preceding this new business. I want to say the very first time I came to this location it was the Whiskey Bank. They renovated and nicely ramped up the place with their new brand decor. Hope this new ownership and restaurant have success in lasting here! Fun decor colors. I like the black contrasting with the pink, purple, fuchsia neon colors throughout! Glad that we finally planned our visit! We were greeted by a young hostess and she asked our preference for seating. We opted for the left side where they have the half benches/table seating. The High Tops are closer to the bar and tv viewing. Amaya was our server. She was a delight with her friendly demeanor and contagious smile. She was perfectly attentive to our needs. We came for Wing Wednesday as they are only .75c per wing. Eight for 6 bucks so we ordered two rounds. One BBQ and the second batch was a Dry Rub. I was insistent on the first round "please no sesame seeds" and it came with no sesame seeds. Tho the dry rub came with the seeds. Oops it didn't get specified for the kitchen staff to omit it. I let our waitress know and told her that I'd just wipe them off. It's only a preference not an allergy. I would have had it remade if it was stuck to the wet bbq sauced wings. She apologized and we all stayed lighthearted about the mistake. I got the One Tree Huckleberry Cider. It was pretty good. And a side Caesar Salad to complement my wings. This particular night it wasn't too loud. I guess some people requested for the music to be lowered before we even arrived. I learned this when I complimented that I liked that, where we chose to sit, it was quieter. I also mentioned that I liked that I could still hear the fun (90's hip hop style tunes) just enough to groove to while having our meal. Because who likes to have an induced post visit headache experience. No one ~~ even the staffers. *Note the closer you get to the weekend this place is very happening...ie more club like vibes on the weekend. Overall we were satisfied with our visit. We came hungry and left adequately full! We're already planning on coming back and meeting up with some friends here!

My husband and I stopped in to Frankie's on a recent Saturday at 5pm. Our kiddo had a performance down the street at 6pm so we had a little time to kill beforehand. The neighboring spots looked busy so we decided to go with Frankie's, seeing as they were less inundated at the time and we had a time constraint. Another allure was the sandwich board at the front door advertising discounted cocktails - sold!! Inside there were a handful of patrons at the bar, another table with two additional patrons and maybe a couple on the patio so it was fairly quiet and slow, so it looked promising. We headed up to the bar and hung out behind two empty barstools, the single female bartender greeted us and said she'd be right with us, but then continued chatting up the seated patrons, serving them and their friends that had just joined (AFTER we'd arrived). We moved a little further down to the handoff area where she was making drinks to save her having to come back to us again, and stood there for probably 10 minutes while she took orders and made all the drinks. We commented that she looked like she could definitely use a hand, and she said they were still adjusting into summer hours and determining whether more coverage was needed at this time - I figured 5pm on a Saturday should be primetime, so I'm not sure in what universe having a single bartender makes any sense. Finally we placed our cocktail orders, waited while they were made, and then put our card down for the tab. After we'd paid, I noticed the cocktails were more expensive than advertised on the sandwich board out front - I couldn't find a disclaimer anywhere that said only certain cocktails were included, so while it was a bummer I wasn't about to wait another 10-15 minutes to catch her attention and ask for clarification. Just a heads up to beware of whatever is advertised that might summon you in from the sidewalk, and make sure you ask before you make your selection. Drinks were very subpar, nothing special to write home about. While I can appreciate the Gatsby-esque vibe they're trying to uphold at Frankie's, they really should increase their staffing especially during prime weekend and evening hours, and be more transparent about their specials and what's included and what's not. Hindsight is 20/20, and the low volume of patrons when everything else around it was going off was probably a sign, so we'll skip Frankie's our next go around.
