Mid cut of the not so "New York"
    Monica L.

Let me start with the 2 stars goes to our server because she was just the messenger and a very sweet messenger at that (0 from the kitchen and maybe 1 * from the bar after the first lemon drop was sent back then redeemed), what came out of the kitchen had nothing to do with her. Our $68 "New York" was unlike any New York I've ever had elsewhere because there was now way it was a New York and they tried to pass it off as a New York and is a HARD NO! You decide for yourself...if you know what a New York should look and taste like. This was the greatest displeasure as we are just lovers of good food. The place was not busy at all for a Monday night, later in the evening, but still took almost 2 hours. When we arrived around 7:30 we immediately ordered a kids pizza for our granddaughter (we saw the wood fire pizza area and thought, WOW, should be an elevated experience) and it still didn't come out til almost 9pm and was nothing more than what looked and tasted like a heated frozen pizza. Our server took it off the bill because it was so delayed for our 3 year old girl. We ordered the chicken as well and it was delicious itself. Didn't really need the green paste on top but the chicken was juicy and spoke for itself. Would give this place another shot if in the area again but only after some major changes.

Great food, great atmosphere, aesthetically amazing. However the service could be better. Celebrating a birthday and no one said anything or even offered something at the end. What to avoid - the Steak a bit tough on some areas, the calamari don't get it was hard and chewy and the special parmigiana with truffle which they ran out of penne and only had spaghetti was not worth 48 dollars.

Wow! What a location, it's gorgeous! The decor is so tasteful with a touch of Tuscany! We began with a few starters which would pretty darn good. The meatballs were full of flavor, and the texture was perfect! The fried calamari was good, but the batter was a bit on the heavy side. I had the Gnocchetti Di Patate which was so light and fluffy, the sauce was elegante. My husband had the Tagliata Di Manzo, which he said was delicious and cooked perfectly. Generous portions and priced well. Our server Lucas was extremely efficient, friendly and made our dinner an outstanding experience. The entire staff was wonderful. We can't wait to go back and try new things.

One of the best Italian spots around. Incredible food, great vibe, and top‑notch service. I can't stress enough how friendly and knowledgeable the manager and waiters are about their products. I'll definitely be back, a true Italian gem.

A beautiful new addition to Carlsbad I had the pleasure of dining at VERISE Italian restaurant yesterday at the Newley remodeled SOLEA Hotel and I had the most fantastic dinner ever we walked right in. It was Sunday evening seems like it was a slow day, which I loved because we almost had the entire property to ourselves no complaints here I love a private dining experience. Anyhow, we started off with an old-fashioned and an espresso martini, which were both done very well. Our appetizers consisted of a Crudo di Mare, the Burrata with beats and bread with prosciutto di Parma, which was out of this world and I'm talking about the prosciutto. The bread was good too. The crudo Di mare was pretty good but that prosciutto unreal. I also went for a limonchello spritz which was so refreshing and really paired well with my Meal for our main entrées, Of course we had to try a pasta because they make it fresh daily. I love a good gnocchi and that's really hard to find made out of potatoes, but they have executed it perfectly. That was very delicious. The Bronzino though was my favorite oh my goodness it came with these olives, capers, and cannellini beans. It was so delicious. I literally cannot wait to go back there again and let's not forget about the most top-tier service that we received from Annie you guys. She was just so amazing. I mean, she smiled. She was happy. She knew her menu. She gave us some really good recommendations all in all she was lovely. The place was beautiful. Can't wait to go back there again.

Jeesica (no, that spelling isn't a typo!) was a knowledgeable and sweet waitress. My family and I had a great time. We ordered the Verise Benedict, Panino De Pollo and Verise burger. The Benedict was my favorite! I usually don't like hollandaise sauce, but this one had a delicious cilantro twist that was amazing. My second favorite was the burger, thanks to the pickled onions inside, and the chicken sandwich was great as well. We also loved the fries that came with both sandwiches! My family and I look forward to returning, we loved our outdoor table with a view of a pretty little olive grove

Extremely salty and the "cheese" crumpled like cottage cheese very strange!! Never experienced this before!

Ambience/decor 5 stars. Hostess/servers need more inservice training. Attentiveness is lacking, service is slow and the customer service needs work. Unfortunately, as much as it hurts to write this review the establishment needs to know what patrons are experiencing while dining in. You would think they would serve quality foods but can't get a simple margarita pizza right?!!? I can't imagine what else is going wrong. The pizza was terrible extremely salty and the "cheese"crumpled as if were small curds of cottage cheese. I'm not sure why they would add a beautiful oven for them to not perfect something so simple... I have no idea what they used for cheese but it certainly wasn't good and certainly wasn't cheesy.... Awful!

Just discovered Verise at Hotel Solea and it's such a hidden gem. The Italian wines are wonderful, the food is fresh and delicious, and the setting is beautiful--overlooking the pool with a clear ocean view in the distance. Relaxed, elevated, and definitely worth a visit.

Wow, this restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. Food is also excellent! We had the meatballs, octopus, beets and burrata, seafood pasta, bucatini with spicy red sauce, and kid's pasta and they were all perfect. Josh, our server, was also great. They also do complimentary valet for the restaurant. Highly recommend!

    Spicy margarita

My bff and I decided to have lunch after visiting the Carlsbad Flower Fields. Verise is located inside the gorgeous Hotel Solea Hotel. The service was great, ambiance A+, drinks and food were delicious. We had the SPAGHETTI AL POMODORO and BURRATA CON BIETOLE (beet salad) with a spicy margarita. Highly recommend! Will come back at night as the outdoor area looks like it will be amazing with the lighting going through the trees on the patio. Complimentary valet too.

My husband and I had lunch here today and first of all the ambience is so therapeutic Earthy vibe with extremely kind staff. Was a sunny day so we ate on the terrace. The food was delicious:) I ordered the burger and my husband ordered the chicken sandwich (can't remember the actual name of it) Will definitely be back!

Blake was our server and him and the whole restaurant staff were absolutely incredible that evening. Very cohesive, nothing messed up, phenomenal service, and I could go on! I am the only vegetarian here, and asked if their pasta was normally cooked in chicken broth. Blake checked and let me know all pasta is cooked in olive oil and definitely vegetarian friendly! I had about 2 to 4 cocktails and all of them were delicious. Everyone in my party enjoyed their food, half of the table was doing family style eating. We ordered a lot of food. It's a solid neighborhood restaurant, but it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. We ordered two pizzas: a gluten-free Margherita and a regular Margherita. One thing that immediately stood out was how similar the two crusts tasted. Both had a comparable level of chewiness, which was surprising given that one was gluten-free. The gluten-free crust lacked some of the wheaty, earthy flavor you'd expect from a traditional dough, but overall I was genuinely impressed by its texture and quality. It's one of the better gluten-free pizza crusts I've had. The pizzas are Neapolitan-style and generally enjoyable. The dough itself is well made, though I would have preferred a bit more chew and structure to take it to the next level. My biggest criticisms are the sauce and cheese. The sauce was applied too sparingly, leaving the pizza without enough moisture or cohesion to tie the different components together. More importantly, the flavor felt one-dimensional--mostly salty, without the rich tomato sweetness, depth, and complexity that make a great Neapolitan pizza memorable. But I want to be fair. Judging from the photos posted by other Yelpers, some of the pizzas shown have a good amount of pizza sauce. I need to try the food again and update my review. As for the cheese, the fresh mozzarella on the Margherita didn't quite meet expectations. The slices had a firmer texture than I typically associate with fresh mozzarella and lacked some of the soft, creamy moisture that helps create that signature melt. The flavor was also milder than expected; instead of delivering a pronounced milky richness, it tasted somewhat diluted. This may be a minor criticism, but on a simple pizza like a Margherita, where every ingredient is on display, these details become much more noticeable. Overall, Buona Forchetta serves a respectable Neapolitan-style pizza, and its gluten-free option is particularly impressive. However, the underwhelming sauce and mozzarella kept the pizzas from reaching the level I was expecting given the enthusiastic recommendations.
