This was the first time I had food from Mangi e Bevi as " take out". It was just as delicious as when we dine at the restaurant. Prepared and packaged with love. It was also my first pizza from them. I ordered the Salsiccia pizza which has a sweet fennel sausage on it. The sausage tasted homemade. Perfectly seasoned. We got several pasta dishes which were perfectly served al dente. Called in an order of tortellini because I remember I enjoyed it time ago when we dined here. We haven't returned all this time because the chicken ravioli was so gross it turned both our stomachs to remember it. Incredibly gritty and had hard pieces of something in it that we had to spit out. The ravioli pasta was good, the stuff in it was truly disgusting. Again so bad all this time we've chosen other places to dine because of that one dish and whatever hard things were in it along with that gritty finely grounded chicken. So anyways the rating now is for my experience now. The above is just why it took me so long to try this place again. Service was great! Over the phone so nice and in person welcoming and friendly. Great staff here. Blonde is who helped me. Another dark haired lady even asked if I'd been helped and even with her serving was willing to help if I hadn't yet been helped but I had been helped so no need. Super great two ladies. Wonderful! The bag of my food was so light I looked inside because seemed nothing was in it. But it has my to go food in it so off I went. We live super close and got home, opened it but it was just warm. Not hot. Odd but well I was able to eat it right away. The sauce was oily butter tasting. The cheese on it tasted like plastic and the dish was missing the prosciutto sadly. Inside the pasta and the pasta itself was yummy! Sad the sauce was oily butter, no other flavor but oily. The pasta was smaller than before, still only 5 pieces of pasta, at $30+ for this ouch! Even after my discount $20+ was still not worth it. Bummer. The other time I had this dish it was all so good, the sauce and prosciutto etc. I am not saying we won't ever return, service is great. Looked over reviews, yes it's cramped inside and you are on top of others unless you get the booth, so I recommend the booth. We enjoyed our dine in experience time ago, only the chicken ravioli was gross, the soup was just ok but the rest was great. After today's experience I won't be repeating the tortellini. The restaurant was able to accommodate vegan options for my family. Service was really friendly and our server spoke fluent Italian. Hubby and I ordered and shared a pizza and a pasta dish with the help of our server. The fresh pasta, unfortunately contained eggs so we were only able to consume the bronze cut pasta. Our pasta dish HD eggplant but it was surprisingly very good. For our girls, we were able to work with the restaurant and essentially make a vegan cheese pizza (we brought in our own unopened pack of vegan cheese). Hubby and I ordered a glass of wine while the girls enjoying some sparkling water. The girls even had a sorbet for dessert which they devoured. Everything was tasty and we enjoyed dinner outside, under a shaded table. There's a nice little water fountain outside in between the two restaurants. We found Mangia e Bevi on inKind and decided to try it for lunch. The Lunch Specials called out to us, especially the Amatriciana (5/5 $18 Lunch). Although many associate Amatriciana with trattorias and restaurants in Rome, Amatriciana originated in Amatrice, a small town near Rieti in central Italy. The Amatriciana here is authentic ... and I believe the best I've ever eaten. It was a generous portion served in a bowl. The pasta (buccatini) was cooked perfectly al dente, tossed in a rich Amatriciana sauce made with peeled tomatoes, guanciale (cured pork cheek), and chili pepper, toped with Pecorino Romano cheese. We sat outside on the patio, which was delightful on this warm afternoon. Seating inside is a tad tight. Our server, Massimo, was great -- cordial, attentive, and informative. I'm glad we tried Mangia e Bevi today. We have to come back to have their pizza -- what we saw looked terrific. read more

Update: Returned, this time with s party of 4, anxious to try their Neapolitan style pizza. We've had several memorable pizzas in Naples and we're skeptical that a restaurant here could compete. Bullseye! They did it! Mangia e Bevi's pizze scored a hit with all 4 of us, including my celiac DIL who must eat gluten free. My pistachio pesto pizza with mortadella and arugula was the real deal. It transported me back to Naples with the first bite. We appreciate the special measures they take for those with celiac by cleaning the pizza oven thoroughly to remove any traces of gluten before baking the GF pizza. The GF pasta is cooked in separate water from the regular in order to prevent cross contamination. I sampled her GF Margherita pizza, and found it delicious. A crispy exterior on the crust cradling a soft, pillowy interior contrasted beautifully with the fresh tomato sauce and cheese on the pie. One person went rogue by ordering a pasta with bolognese. Yummy. Mangia e Bevi's is an especially rich, meaty version of the sauce. Quite delicious. read more

This food is phenomenal. Pasta is the only recreation that matches what we had in Italy. Menu isn't too overwhelming with options, but there's definitely something to fit whatever taste you're craving at the moment. Their specials looked great, but I didn't come hungry enough to try more. Service was very attentive without being overbearing. I think their little bar up front was cute (but very few seats there). Outdoor seating is perfect for sunny coastal days. The thing to be prepared for is the prices. They are definitely higher than some other franchise spots and their portions are smaller. It's a long drive but it's worth it. We came here to try their food based on the reviews. It's a decent size restaurant with patio seating. It was empty when we arrived at 6:30 but it filled up quickly. The service throughout our meal was ok, nothing exceptional. We ordered burrata for appetizer. It was very good and the sauce was tasty (not very acidic which it's how I liked it). I got two orders of toasted baguette to go with it (one down side is that this restaurant doesn't offer complimentary bread, which is rare). We also ordered squid ink linguine with clam (the best one out of all the ones we ordered), lasagna and pasta with bolognese. Overall, we all enjoyed our dishes. I love this place. It's small, intimate, delightful. The food is perfection. There were some choices that were out of stock, but that happens. Sometimes the communication doesn't get to the staff, but no big deal. Very responsive service, no wait time. We had an arugula salad, meatballs, and a pasta with pink sauce. Turns out I didn't post my review the first time I came here, so this time I am just making sure they receive the flowers that they deserve. Both the food and service were outstanding. We're trying to eat smaller meals (for dinner) lately for health reasons so when we can, we try to order 1 entree and 1 appetizer to share instead of 2 entrees. With that, we ended up with Caponata and Paccheri alla Norcina. Both were amazing!!! The pasta sauce was exceptional and the pasta itself was al dente. This is a gem of a find! Located in a spot in a shopping area it is a really nice spot. I was on a work trip and the guy that was driving me around brought me here. What a great location. The atmosphere was really nice, the server was outstanding, the decor was elegant and the food was BANGING! Man the pizza here was outstanding!! Belle was an attentive and friendly server! She didn't rush us while we were looking over the menu, but she stayed nearby in case we indicated we were ready to order. I came here for a work dinner. They were pretty busy so service took a little longer but their food is so good that it was worth the wait! I had the funghi pizza bianca. I learned that the owner is on the US pizza team from this yelp page so that's a cool fact. This pizza was delicious, absolutely loved the sauce and the mushrooms and the fresh greens on top. I didn't wind up finishing it. I ate maybe 1/3 of the pizza. Probably because I filled up on their delicious appetizers beforehand. The dough was very good, nice leopard print, and cooked across the pizza without being burnt. That means good control of the temperature in the wood oven pizza. Let me begin by saying the pizza was excellent, no problems here. So why three stars? We ordered calamari fritti, and they were rubbery and not tender. Also, the flour coating easily fell off (which does not happen when the calamari are fresh, floured on the spot, and then cooked - though we don't know the reason, the fact remains that our calamari fritti were not tender and all the coating all separated and crumbled off which is unusual and shouldn't happen). Secondly, the prices of the wine bottles seemed high, the least expensive being $55 or more (for a red wine). While there is no problem offering some higher priced wines for those of higher quality, there is no reason an Italian restaurant cannot offer a wine that is reasonably good quality (e.g., a "house wine") in the $30-40 range, as most other restaurants of this type offer (especially if you mainly go for pizza). Having said this, the pizzas were truly excellent, and we hope the restaurant will consider the other points. read more

I arrived with a big appetite and was disappointed with the food and service. I waited for 10 minutes and made eye contact with two employees before the hostess noticed me. I waited another 15-20 minutes for my food (No complimentary bread is offered). I received a paltry sized serving of lasagna. The marinara sauce tasted like Prego and the ground beef was lacking. This place was so good! Decided to try it when I was looking for a father's day reservation for lunch. We tried so much of the menu and I wish we tried more because it was so good. For starters we had the truffle fries, bruschetta, and focaccia. The focaccia was recommended by the server and it was literally the best thing. Hot and fresh and addictive! The bruschetta came with 3 versions: typical tomato, pesto, and a sweet lemon, honey, strawberry version. The sweet one was amazing, very complex flavors. The truffle fries were not too oily and the taste was more subtle which I really enjoyed. My sister is not a big fan of truffle and she actually loved these. I had the spring salad as my main course and the best part was the fried artichokes on the side which again were not oily at all! So crispy and delicious! My son had the cup & char pizza which was a basic pepperoni but done well. The server was super accommodating and made great recommendations. She said she had just started working there but you could tell that she knew the menu well and she also was Italian. We sat on the patio which was very relaxing with a little fountain right down the way. While this place is in the middle of an office park, it does not feel like it while you are sitting outside near all the plants. I brought my 3 year old and while I found it to be very accommodating for him, there was no kid menu or coloring activities or anything. Still would bring him back. My boyfriend and I wanted a date night locally, and I saw this location is top rated, so we gave it a try! We were able to make last-minute reservations for a Saturday night no problem. For appetizers we had the bread service and polpette. The bread was just okay, but the polpette was amazing! For entrees, I had the carbonara and my boyfriend had the prosciutto pizza. The carbonara was excellent, but the prosciutto pizza wasn't good. Not a lot of flavor. My boyfriend had two (little) slices, and had enough. Unfortunately, it didn't seem of much concern to our waitress who just said "sorry about that" when we told her it wasn't good. Making him something else or offering a discount would've been appreciated. The service was also pretty slow. I would try here again, but my boyfriend doesn't want to. Unlike super traditional Italian, the food was plentiful but not too much. All dishes were flavorful and well presented. This feels like a mom and pop place but not sure. Again, it was run like my mom ran her restaurant. The chef even came out and asked about the meal. Definitely worth trying and possibly coming more than 2 x per month... maybe more. I've been wanting to try this spot for forever. Went last night and ordered the focaccia (if you check in you get free bread service!) and Polpo salad. My roommate got the Carbonara. The focaccia was so crispy on the outside and had wonderful flavor with WHOLE basil leaves inside??? Brilliant. Freshly baked as well. Absolutely loved it. Also, hands down, BY FAR, the BEST grilled octopus I have ever had in my life. So tender and buttery, it basically melted in my mouth. (I really couldn't shut up about how good it was during the meal). The octopus paired excellently with the sumac yogurt sauce (I wish there was more sauce!) I also loved the addition of the currants and pickled radish in the salad, (who knew!) Unfortunately, the salad was a little overdressed otherwise the dish was perfect. Tried my roommates carbonara and must say it was lacking in flavor BUT the bucatini was cooked to perfection and the guanciale was perfectly fatty and salty. An adorable hole in the wall, quaint Italian restaurant with excellent and friendly service. I will for sure be back!! Can't wait to try more pasta dishes and their pizzas. This restaurant is one of our favorites. We have been back multiple times since we moved here last Feb. It's a small cosy restaurant with seating available both inside and outside. Last night my hubby brought us there to celebrate my birthday. We were tended to immediately and got our seat immediately as well. We ordered calamari for starters and then a bottle of sauvignon blanc for drinks. They also brought iced water In a reusable pitcher. They also do offer bottled water if you prefer. Calamari was delicious. The batter was light and crispy and it came with marina sauce and another sauce. I loved eating with with both sauces. But loved it even more without any sauce They have a menu which is seasonal. And also specials daily. Last night, my hubby and I ordered off their specials. I ordered the rock fish with black rice and roasted shishito peppers. My hubby ordered fillet mignon medium rare and it came with creamy polenta. Unfortunately, the steak was not done the way he liked. It was burnt on the sides and well done. The host immediately noticed it when he had a look on his face which indicated he did not enjoy it. And immediately offered to cook him another one. And my hubby declined. My hubby ordered meatballs and spaghetti instead. This was fantastic. Meatballs were nice and juicy and the spaghetti was al dente - just the quality they always had It was a one off mistake with the steak and the took it off the bill. I would have liked dessert here as their tiramisu is fantastic. But unfortunately we were too filled from the delicious food. This is a fantastic place and will continue to be our go to place. I never knew Oceanside had real Italian food until we went to Mangia e Bevi...from the moment we walked in we were greeted by Barbie, I believe who was robust and fun, it was off the charts fantastic, the charcuterie board was insane, gorgeous and had everything on it including prosciutto, blue cheese, soft cheeses, nuts everything and was served on a real cutting board. Then came dinner, my eggplant was real Italian, their noodles were on handmade pasta and the birthday cannoli was the best I've ever had and complimentary complete with a candle for the birthday girl. Oceanside needed real Italian and this is it and did I mention Wednesday is Wine Wednesday, half of all wines. I'll be back but they also offer to go too.
