Update: Returned, this time with s party of 4, anxious to try their Neapolitan style pizza. We've had several memorable pizzas in Naples and we're skeptical that a restaurant here could compete. Bullseye! They did it! Mangia e Bevi's pizze scored a hit with all 4 of us, including my celiac DIL who must eat gluten free. My pistachio pesto pizza with mortadella and arugula was the real deal. It transported me back to Naples with the first bite. We appreciate the special measures they take for those with celiac by cleaning the pizza oven thoroughly to remove any traces of gluten before baking the GF pizza. The GF pasta is cooked in separate water from the regular in order to prevent cross contamination. I sampled her GF Margherita pizza, and found it delicious. A crispy exterior on the crust cradling a soft, pillowy interior contrasted beautifully with the fresh tomato sauce and cheese on the pie. One person went rogue by ordering a pasta with bolognese. Yummy. Mangia e Bevi's is an especially rich, meaty version of the sauce. Quite delicious.

We found Mangia e Bevi on inKind and decided to try it for lunch. The Lunch Specials called out to us, especially the Amatriciana (5/5 $18 Lunch). Although many associate Amatriciana with trattorias and restaurants in Rome, Amatriciana originated in Amatrice, a small town near Rieti in central Italy. The Amatriciana here is authentic ... and I believe the best I've ever eaten. It was a generous portion served in a bowl. The pasta (buccatini) was cooked perfectly al dente, tossed in a rich Amatriciana sauce made with peeled tomatoes, guanciale (cured pork cheek), and chili pepper, toped with Pecorino Romano cheese. We sat outside on the patio, which was delightful on this warm afternoon. Seating inside is a tad tight. Our server, Massimo, was great -- cordial, attentive, and informative. I'm glad we tried Mangia e Bevi today. We have to come back to have their pizza -- what we saw looked terrific.

This food is phenomenal. Pasta is the only recreation that matches what we had in Italy. Menu isn't too overwhelming with options, but there's definitely something to fit whatever taste you're craving at the moment. Their specials looked great, but I didn't come hungry enough to try more. Service was very attentive without being overbearing. I think their little bar up front was cute (but very few seats there). Outdoor seating is perfect for sunny coastal days. The thing to be prepared for is the prices. They are definitely higher than some other franchise spots and their portions are smaller. But you're getting more quality food, which I definitely can appreciate. Hopefully I can make it back soon to try their pizza too.

    Burrata salad

So, I have ordered to go food from Here multiple times. At least maybe once every 3 months. Some stuff is really yummy. My issue is that many things come not as described. For example- my $25 burrata tomato salad. Heirloom tomato's. Instead, I had really bad mushy chopped up Roma tomatoes that weren't even edible. I've had many instances of this, ingredients subbed etc. If im paying $19 for 5 broccolini, that's a little excessive.

It's a long drive but it's worth it. We came here to try their food based on the reviews. It's a decent size restaurant with patio seating. It was empty when we arrived at 6:30 but it filled up quickly. The service throughout our meal was ok, nothing exceptional. We ordered burrata for appetizer. It was very good and the sauce was tasty (not very acidic which it's how I liked it). I got two orders of toasted baguette to go with it (one down side is that this restaurant doesn't offer complimentary bread, which is rare). We also ordered squid ink linguine with clam (the best one out of all the ones we ordered), lasagna and pasta with bolognese. Overall, we all enjoyed our dishes. Regrettably i didn't get to try tiramisu. Hopefully next time

Still our favorite date night spot in Oceanside. Service is excellent. We sat outside for the first time last Saturday evening and the vibes were excellent. To start, we ordered the bruschette which I highly recommend. My fiance ordered the Fiorentina which was very flavorful. It was slightly overcooked but still full of flavor. I ordered the truffle tortellini which is now a vegetarian option because they removed the guanciale but you can ask to add it back. Overall still our fave spot.

We return for another relaxing time and the food quality is still just as good! Consistency is checked!

This is a gem of a find! Located in a spot in a shopping area it is a really nice spot. I was on a work trip and the guy that was driving me around brought me here. What a great location. The atmosphere was really nice, the server was outstanding, the decor was elegant and the food was BANGING! Man the pizza here was outstanding!! Tons of selections for toppings, the curst was perfect, and the sauce was a flavor bomb! (What I couldn't finish I took back to the hotel and ate it cold for breakfast!) I'm telling you this is how pizza is supposed to be done! If you have not tried this location don't think about it... do it! You will not be disappointed. I liked it so much I ate here 3 times in the week that I was in town. I'd go back right now if I could! I'm telling you the pizza here was a true masterpiece! And needs to be tried to truly understand just how good it is!

I came here for a work dinner. They were pretty busy so service took a little longer but their food is so good that it was worth the wait! I had the funghi pizza bianca. I learned that the owner is on the US pizza team from this yelp page so that's a cool fact. This pizza was delicious, absolutely loved the sauce and the mushrooms and the fresh greens on top. I didn't wind up finishing it. I ate maybe 1/3 of the pizza. Probably because I filled up on their delicious appetizers beforehand. I gave the rest to my boyfriend and he wound up eating the whole thing for lunch the next day. Absolutely delicious and would come back!

I ended up about three blocks away in a residential area on a busy Saturday night. The cozy atmosphere is warm and comfortable. The staff does a good job weaving among the six tables in the dining room and six on the patio. Conversations are tougher inside. This is a natural wine bar, so some classiciists might not like the styles. Little Victory has a jammed, two-sided wine list (red and white) in incredibly small type. Natural wines often look and taste distinct from conventional bottles. They are frequently unfiltered and unfined, leaving them slightly cloudy with sediment. Expect vibrant acidity and complex flavor profiles that lean toward the earthy, savory. Bottle variation is common. Off-flavors and aromes include mousiness, excess volatile acidity (vinegar notes), or Brettanomyces (wet cardboard). Our waitress was patient and let us taste five whites, which were too funky for most of us (not fruit-driven noses and palates like most California wines). I settled on the Austrian 2024 Wurzinger Grüner Veltliner Früg, $17 BTG. It was cloudy, with some lime, floral, and yeasty nose; tight acids; and a tart finish. We did enjoy a fruity, balanced 2021 Viticultor Goyo Garcia Viadero Joven de Viejas Viñas, Ribera del Duero ($72 bottle; $25 at retail); and a good Temecula red blend, 2023 Lost Ranch Winery Moonshadow (53% Nero d'Avola; 47% Syrah; $17 by the glass). For appetizers, the four of us shared the olives ($8), bread and butter plate ($9), cheese platter ($18), and beef tartare ($25). Other things we shared were the local catch, $33; roasted octopus, $31; and the peach and fennel salad, $22. The octopus drew the most raves. The catch was a bit dry. Service was friendly, very helpful and responsive to our questions about the wines and the different dishes on the menu. The food runners were timely in bringing out our different dishes. Little Victory should do well in this bustling foodie town.

I was pleasantly surprised by the chewy texture of the complimentary bread offered at Paon, and one bite took me back to the streets of Paris where I strolled along the Seine River munching on my baguette. Our waiter only offered one small piece each, so I had to ask for a second piece. If my meal were just the bread alone, this would have been a 5-star review. Unfortunately, my dining experience declined after the bread... I ordered the Organic Beet Salad, and it was a disappointing stack of 3 round pieces of beets, each 1/4 inch thick and 2 inches in diameter, topped with arugula and small pieces of pistachios sparsely scattered on the plate. My friend and I looked at each other and asked, "what happened to the rest of the salad?!" Seriously, $21 for 3 pieces of beets?? My friend ordered the French Onion Puree for $19 and got a regular sized serving so we continued to ponder what happened to my beet salad. It was the joke of the evening. This dish was an unconventional spin off the traditional French onion soup, and sadly, while it was a creative idea, it failed to deliver in taste. My favorite thing about French onion soup is the gooey gruyere cheese. There was a small dollop of melted brie on top and that was it. It was a disappointment, but not nearly as sad as my beet salad. For my entree, I ordered the Pan Seared Chilean Sea Bass $55. The fish was very tender, but the dish itself was extremely buttery and oily. I ordered this dish because I wanted something healthy, but it turned out to be a very heavy dish. The basil beurre blanc was just too overwhelmingly rich. My friend ordered the Seared Rare Hawaiian Yellowfin Tuna $52. The execution on this dish was better than mine. For dessert, we shared a Creme Brulee $18. We did not like this dessert because it was room temperature and tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. We like it chilled but with the hard sugary glaze. The top wasn't torched enough. Overall, while we enjoyed the ambiance, we did not really care for the food (except the amazing bread). Seeing how much we enjoyed the bread, it would've been nice had our waiter been more generous and offered us more bread. A good server would be more proactive and not wait to be asked.
