    Rockfish Sandwich
    Sarah H.

I tried the salmon dip and the rockfish bahn mi. The chips were warm and crispy, the salmon dip was such a great appetizer. The rockfish was cooked perfectly and I enjoyed the toppings and sauce on the sandwich. We sat at the bar so it was cool to be so up close to the food being cooked and the preparation. The presentation of everything was also so impressive. We went on a Saturday for an early dinner and we didn't have to wait for a spot to open up. Overall, I enjoyed that their menu wasn't too expansive but still had a variety. I will definitely be coming back to introduce friends to the place!

POV: you just got out of the Fremont Flea Market(s) (both, mind you) after a morning of browsing through so many antique goodies that your head is spinning. The wind is howling. Your fingers are getting numb. Hunger blurs your vision. And then your trusty friend says, "I know a place for food." After a quick drive and gentle uphill walk, you arrive at none other than Local Tide. There's a line out the door. Your stomach gurgles. "It's worth the wait, I think," your friend proclaims nervously. You all choose to wait. When you get inside, you find that the crab roll you'd been salivating over is sold out. Devastating, but no matter-- you'd already chosen the salmon sandwich as your backup. Your friends also order the shrimp toast and smoked salmon belly dip to share. The sweet cashier thanks you all, offers you a seat quickly and says your food will be right out. The smoked salmon belly dip comes first. DELECTABLE. You're already starving at this point, but the staff notified you that there would be a slight delay with the other food, so you begin to ration the chips and dip. Fifteen minutes pass. Twenty. Once it's nearing 35 minutes, you're getting antsy. You're supposed to be at Pac-Sci by now, and it's already 3:15. Will you make it in by 5? Your friends are getting hangry. Tensions are high. Maybe you should just eat the cost of the sandwich and go... Just when you think all hope is lost, the waft of oil, mayo, and fried goodness hits your nose. It's here. The glorious shrimp toast and salmon sandwich arrive to the table, along with the cod, another salmon sandwich, and the rockfish bowl. The waiter serves you all an apologetic look and all of the previous heat melts away. Everyone digs in immediately, and for 10 minutes, the table is silent save for vigorous chewing and occasional "this is so good"s. You finish your meal. The sky is clear. You make it to Pac Sci in time. Would come back for that smoked salmon dip. Thank you, Will, for the rec.

Seattle did NOT disappoint when it came to the food options! I spent my birthday weekend in Seattle and my godsister recommended this spot. It is counter service and a line was already forming, always a good sign. The menu is small but still has so many choices at the same time, so we ended up ordering almost everything. When I say everything was sooooo delicious and fresh, I mean I still think about that food to this day. Truly phenomenal. The place itself is really cute but there is not a lot of seating. Luckily we were able to sit, wait, and eat next door at the wine bar. The staff was friendly and very helpful. 10 out of 10 birthday stop!

This is a nice spot to grab a casual lunch or dinner. I appreciate that they had a lot of healthy options. I got the salmon teriyaki bowl which was really good and fresh but overpriced at 24$. My mom loved the rockfish. I've heard good things about the shrimp toast here as well but we didn't try that. Also the employees are very friendly here.

Tried Local tied the other day after the gym. I loved the healthier fare they offer, it felt like I can enjoy a night out without feeling terrible about my waistline. I had the salmon teriyaki bowl and it was really good! The rice was really tasty and the salmon was very tender and not dry! My favorite was the salmon belly dip. I almost bought one to go because it was so delicious, will definitely be back just for that. Sort of a weird set up when you dine there. You order first + pay then they point to a random table for you to sit at and then when you're done eating you can just leave. It was a bit tight and there's not a ton of seating so be prepared for that. Otherwise it was a great experience.

I came for dinner and it was quite busy. You order at the front before sitting down, which can be confusing if you didn't know. I ordered the chowder and my friends ordered the Rockfish Banh Mi and Fried Oysters. Overall, the food was good but a tad expensive for the amount of food, specifically the Fried Oysters. I'd try the Shrimp Toast next time and maybe the Dover & Fries.

was pretty excited for this - as I'd heard really nice things about the restaurant itself, along with the crab roll especially the crab roll seems to be quite popular - as it seems like it often sells out on weekends starting off, this buttery brioche bun is magical. it's so soft yet so well toasted on the outside, and yet astoundingly fluffy on the inside the exterior has just the right amount of butter where it's a complimentary flavor rather than taking over the entire bun the level of toasting achieved on this bun is highly impressive - there's not a single part that isn't perfect might be the best roll i've ever had the roll is pretty stuffed with crab meat i don't think i'm a huge crab lover - I do like it - but it seems relatively flavorless compared to other meats however, there are a few things i loved about the crab in this bun first, obviously, you can eat it with the roll, which just makes everything better second, the seasoning on the meat was absolutely fantastic - there was a mayo-based sauce, there was lemon juice giving it a slightly acidic taste, and there was a sprinkle of seasoning that made everything really could while I don't know if the meat itself had great flavor - I loved the fact that the restaurant did everything it could to impart that flavor onto the dish huge props for that I also really liked the amount of crab placed in this roll - it was pretty stuffed with the meat - even coming pretty significantly out of the hole in the split top so, the food was really good, but i do have an issue for the really expensive price point ($30 for a single roll) this was not filling at all i recognize that crab is expensive - and the amount of crab placed in here was pretty impressive - but for 30 dollars this needs to come with some sort of a filling side whether it can be clam chowder, fries, or anything - no matter how good the food is, when you pay that amount for a meal, the meal needs to leave you satisfied I understand that you can't just place an infinite amount of crab, but increasing the size of the roll, or adding another side are ways to increase the portion size of this meal

Delicious and fresh seafood! We ordered the Dover & Fries which is like Fish & Chips but cooked in an asian salt & pepper style. The dover is very thin and crispy and PIPING hot. I liked their clam chowder, you can really taste the clam-umami. it's not your typical cream-based chowder, rather more clam-broth based with a hint of cream instead! We also ordered the crab roll - I'm more biased towards hot rolls so it wasn't my thing but if you like a cold crab salad type roll it's worth trying. You get seated after you order at the counter and service was great.

My brother and I visited on a random Tuesday for a late lunch, and thankfully there was no line. I've heard the lines can get pretty long here, so what a relief! We ordered the tuna melt special, shrimp toast, and clam chowder to share. I was expecting the clam chowder to be creamy, but the broth was more thin and runny than thick and creamy. It was decent, but nothing mind blowing. I enjoyed the shrimp toast the most; it was flavorful, crispy, and made for yummy bites with the sauces provided. The tuna melt special was $24 and tiny for the price in my opinion. They should split this sandwich into two instead of having it be one gigantic mess to eat. It was pretty good, but again nothing to rave about. We spent about $37 each and I still left hungry afterwards which is not ideal. The ambience is cozy and warm, and service is standard. I do think it's quite overpriced and overrated so probably wouldn't go back, but I'm glad I got to try Local Tide!

    Rock Fish Banh Mi
    Thomas N.

I got the rockfish banh mi. So good. All the flavors and ingredients pair together really well. It definitely is a messy sandwich and a bit difficult to hold together while you eat but the taste more than makes up for it. Really solid spot and I definitely will be back to try the rest of the menu!

Glad I was able to pop in, line out the door on a Thursday night at 7pm. Line moves fairly quickly, concept/order then be seated works well. Service is super friendly and interior is very cute and clean. We ordered the smoked salmon dip to share, the rockfish banh mi and the fried fish sandwich. The dip was super salty and the chips were heavily salted (really good and crispy). The rockfish banh mi had good flavor and amount of chilis helped improve the fried fish since it was very bland...like no seasoning and the fish was over fried to the point where it was just hard. Unfortunately, we weren't fans but can see the appeal for sure.

TLDR: fresh and delicious seafood, must try spot I've come here a couple times at various times for lunch - there's usually a bit of line but moves pretty fast and you get seated right after ordering. Honestly you can't go wrong with any of their menu items - everything I've tried is super fresh and always has complex flavor notes. My favorite is the shrimp toast - paired with mayo and a chili sauce on the side, the buttery shrimp on toast is straight up comfort food. All of their fish, no matter what variation, tastes super fresh and flaky. All their sides are chosen to complement each type of fish making each dish have that perfect combo of salt, fat and acid.

    Crab roll (delicious)
    Buk O.

Your reliably delicious neighborhood quick eat seafood spot. The owners/front staff have always been really friendly to me. Yes, they get busy as they are high on tourist spots but if you can get there early, it's worth it. My go to order are the fish sandwich, crab roll (only available Friday to Sunday), and when I feel like red meat, the smash burger. Inside is clean, you can see the kitchen, no fuss vibes in terms of service since lots of people are waiting but you can sit and chat if you want.

We also also had the Wild Alaskan King Salmon and the Sablefish in Sake Kasu . The salmon was okay, but nothing noteworthy. The sablefish was delicious, and I would definitely recommend. If you are looking for a special meal - anniversary, birthday, etc. - and want great views of the water then I think Ray's is a good choice. While the food is pricey, there are some solid options on the menu. But if you are just looking for some great seafood, there are better tasting and better priced places around Seattle that would be better suited.

So when I woke up still craving shellfish, RockCreek was the call. It was the right one. A dozen oysters to start: Kumamoto and Shigoku. Clean -- no grit, no sand. Whatever they're doing back there, it's working. The brine was full and present in every shell, and the mignonette hit that rare sweet spot of light but actually seasoned. The Winter Old Fashioned? Get it. It was so delicious. Then came the crab Benedict. The side salad alone was worth writing home about -- big, buttery, peppery leaves draped in one of those feather-light vinaigrettes that sounds simple until you try to replicate it at home and realize you can't. But the real star of the entire plate was the potatoes. Crispy outside, genuinely fluffy inside, seasoned with conviction. A masterpiece is not too strong a word. Closed with a glass of pink wine. Was eyeing the bottle with the piglet on the label, but it was bottle-only -- a distinction I find increasingly arbitrary as a former server and bartender. One day that policy will be a relic. Not yet, apparently. Best brunch I've had in Seattle in two years. Highly recommend.

We ordered some of our go-tos -- hamachi crudo, tuna tartare, and calamari -- and everything was spot on. The vinegar dill fries are exceptional: thin, super crispy, and loaded with seasoning (honestly hard to stop eating). We also tried the loaded fish sandwich and the cornmeal-battered lingcod -- both solid choices. Spicy margarita lived up to its name with a nice kick. It was pretty dead when we arrived around 5pm, with only one other larger table seated, which made for a relaxed, easygoing happy hour. Always a dependable spot when you're craving seafood done right.

The service was amazing, our server walked us through the dishes and helped us choose. Type of cuisine: "We never tire of talking to our guests about how we got our quirky name. Inspired by two British drinking terms, Brimmer & Heeltap seeks to celebrate the moments that exist between the first sip of one's libation and the last drops lingering at the bottom of the glass. Since late 2013 we've delighted in creating an environment that is inviting, lively, and comforting. A sense of playfulness is present in everything we do, from the inventive dishes our culinary team prepares, to the friendly, genuine hospitality we provide. We're a bistro that takes pride in being a neighborhood place - the kind you can escape to at day's end for a delicious meal shared among friends." Ambiance: "Located in the former Le Gourmand space in beautiful Ballard, Brimmer & Heeltap offers an intimate, cozy atmosphere complete with an open kitchen, full bar, and multiple sections to drink and dine in. Our garden patio is one of the best-kept secrets in the city, offering a dreamy place to dine outdoors during Seattle's spring and summer months. We also have a tucked-away back studio that offers the perfect setting for special, private gatherings year-round. Just how many pennies does it take to cover a floor? Just ask Brimmer & Heeltap's proprietress Jen who collected tens of thousands of them from family, friends, and the community to help execute the vision of a cool gathering placed dubbed, naturally, the "Penny Room." This dining room, beloved for both its wall of menus and its shining penny floor, is a favorite place to break bread with loved ones, and plays into the restaurant's blend of nostalgic and contemporary design. The restaurant was designed in collaboration with Sean Sifagaloa of KRFTWRK and local builder Mike Marian, owner of Marian Built. Light, texture, metal, wood, and floral elements are all at play here. This historic building possesses a playful, familiar charm that we wanted to preserve in its latest incarnation." What I ordered: Wishing to sample a little of everything, we were served, family style, two orders of Bread ($9 each) - buttered with salt and pepper; Fritto Misto ($12) - assorted, lightly fried and pickled vegetables with tarragon aioli; Smashed Burrata ($19) - snap peas, preserved lemon, mint, basil, sherry reduction; Carrot & Tahini Dip ($16) - caramelized garlic, feta, pistachio, crudite; two orders of Heirloom Tomatoes ($21 each) - melon, chevre, crispy quino, soft herbs; Crispy Potatoes ($16) - whipped feta, hot honey, mint; Mushroom Agnolotti ($34) - roasted maitakes, chanterelles, whipped ricotta, miso butter, thyme; Roast Chicken ($42) - chickpea, berbere yogurt, marinated cucumber, mint gremolata. To finish off our meals, we shared the Olive Oil Cake ($14) - basil yogurt cremeux, strawberry gel, and the Chocolate Tiramisu ($16) - mascarpone, rum, amaretto, candied hazelnuts. What I loved: Oh man, every dish was delightful. I found something to savor and repeat in each of the dishes we were served. From the sweetness of the heirloom tomatoes, to the creamy burrata, from the crispy potatoes, to the fresh peas and everything in between. Our least favorite, at the table was the mushroom Angnolotti, inconsistent from bite to bite. The presentation of the Carrot & Tahini dip was a bit haphazard compared to the rest of the dishes served, but the flavor was still lovely. Why I loved it: The service was unparalleled, comfortable yet professional and quick to offer recommendations for our larger party. The decorations and quaint spaces truly welcoming, and the food, excellent. Cost: High ($40+ per person)

We visited the Friday after Thanksgiving and arrived around 5 PM, hoping to beat the crowds--and luckily, we did. The restaurant was still fairly calm before the evening rush arrived. We had hoped to take advantage of Chinook's Happy Hour, but learned that the Happy Hour menu is only available at the bar, not at dining tables. Since we wanted an easy, relaxed conversation, we decided to stay seated at our table instead. Our server, Marilyn A, seemed a bit frazzled, likely because she had several tables to manage at once, but she was clearly trying her best to keep up and serve everyone promptly. We started with fresh Kumamoto and Totten Inlet oysters, which were delicious--clean, briny, and very fresh. For our entrées we ordered the wild salmon burger, salmon and chips, and the classic Caesar salad. All were enjoyable and satisfying choices, especially if you're in the mood for simple, well-prepared seafood. We skipped dessert since we had just returned from Leavenworth and had fresh sugar and gingerbread cookies waiting for us at home--a sweet ending we were already looking forward to. Overall, it was a pleasant early evening seafood dinner and a nice, relaxed way to wrap up the day.

We asked the oysters to arrive first and then the calamari, which were both before our main entrees. The server delivered exactly on the order and we really appreciated it. The ambiance easily is one of the most unique views in the city, I would say. Overlooking the rows of harbored boats, there does not exist many restaurants that can rival the ambiance here. Also, pretty much every seat in the house has the same view, so you really can't go wrong if you wanted to impress someone here. We went for lunch, but anytime of the day really works here. I've been here for a quick drinks at the bars too, which is also fun. All around the most well kept secret gem in all of Seattle!
