Wow! I don't know if it's just because I haven't had sushi in 9 months or if the second pictured roll was that good. The fish in general was very fresh and delicious. I could have eaten 17 rolls. I forgot the name but it had yellowtail, crunchy onions and cilantro. De-lish. We were sat right away as it was not crowded because we came at an off peak day and time. Super convenient sushi spot near the Seattle center! Came in on a weekday, and it was fairly empty. The inside is quite dark, and there was a super strong smoky smell throughout, which was.. interesting. But fine. I ordered the yuzu halibut and the nigiri combo. The halibut was really delicious. Fish was fresh, and I loved the yuzu sauce and bits of yuzu jam on top. It complemented the fish really well. My gripe is that they give 6 thin slices of fish for almost $30 so felt kinda ripped off.. Nigiri combo was really good as well. All the fish was super fresh, and I loved the little added toppings for some of the nigiri pieces. The rice here is pretty tangy, compared to other sushi places, but I actually enjoyed that. We started with Miiso Clam Soup, which was very flavorful but mine had 3 shells and no clams, and husbands had 4 shells and 5 clams. We were excited to have Octopus Carpaccio, and there were really good flavors. But our first 2 bites were very chewy and couldn't be swallowed. My husband and I came here around 6:15p without a reservation, and waited about 15-20 min when they called us for a table. The restaurant was really busy, and as a result, very loud inside. It's located next to the the Climate Pledge Arena, so seems like a lot of people come here to eat before an event. While it seems like people enjoy the rolls here, none really stood out to me, so I got the nigiri combination. The plating looked nice, but I thought the food was just OK. Service wasn't particularly friendly as it seems like they were trying to clear tables as quickly as possible to make space for people waiting for tables, which I understand. How times have changed since my last time staying in the Lower Queen Anne area while trying to figure out where to eat on my first night. Not only did they have the rare negi maki entree they also had green beans & salmon sashimi over rice. My favorite was the salmon! My wife was thrilled they had the negi maki too!!! Moon Tree is definitely one of my favorite sushi spots in Seattle. The quality of the fish, the freshness, the taste and speed of service is fantastic. The Fancy Seattle Roll is my absolute favorite, the sear on the salmon is perfect. I also love their crispy rice with tuna. Karaage, crispy cauliflower and gyoza are some of my favorite apps. The mango lychee martini is outstanding. It's not a huge spot but the ambiance is nice and since service is fast the wait times aren't too bad, can also make reservations. Phenomenal! I've been wanting to try this place for a while now, and now I know why. we stopped in here for dinner before Cirque du Soleil and were pleased that there was no wait. The price appears to be more expensive and portions are smaller, but the quality and cuts were good, and the fish was very fresh. Nice place for sushi. When I am traveling to the West coast, I always try and find a good local sushi restaurant hoping that they offer a selection of items that are not available on the East coast. This restaurant was just a 10 minute walk from my hotel and the pictures on Yelp looked great. When I arrived at 5pm, the restaurant was about 10% full. Since I was alone, I sat at the sushi bar. The chef was friendly and he explained what fish was in the case. It was a nice selection, with only a few West coast items. I ordered the omakase for $75 which came with an appetizer of pickled cucumber and shrimp, soup and 12 pieces chef's choice. I was kinda surprised when the 12 pieces were served all at once. It was very well prepared and very fresh. For dessert, I ordered an Aji sashimi, one of my favorites, that is had to find where I live. It was also very good. The service was very good as my glass was never empty. The beer was nice and cold. There were several other items that I viewed that looked very good. The place was 70% full when I left. Moon Tree Sushi And Tapas is probably the biggest thing I miss about Seattle. An absolutely solid sushi restaurant, I still miss their Asari Miso Soup with a passion. Moon Tree does all their rolls right, with high quality fresh ingredients 100% of the time and their tapas are mouthwateringly delicious. Seating is a bit tight and they're often very busy, but Moon Tree was our go-to after a long day and I highly recommend them both for their outstanding service and food.
