I have been here a few times and really enjoyed the food. Today my fiancé and I had a little dilemma ordering through a 3rd party. Our food was lost when the 3rd party came to pick it up. Both parties went above and beyond to make sure that we received our food. We ordered the appetizers sampler, fried tofu, pad see ew, pad Thai, and mango sticky rice. Won't Disappoint This was my first visit to Karchai Thai Kitchen and the food and service were great. On this visit I was with a small group. However, we were seated immediately, our menus were given to us promptly, and our drinks were served quickly. All the dish's that we ordered were flavorful and well-spiced. This is the best place I know in Phoenix to get coconut curry. I love pretty much all the food, the shrimp fry rice, tempura shrimp, their sticky rice desserts. Also had all the currys. I've had so many different dishes in this place I just can't list them all. Now the reason I can only gave them 2 stars is i never go there to eat much more then a few times a year. It's because they look at their customers as just money. You can tell when you enter their is never anyone even in the restaurant. All the food pricing are way to high for the type of restaurant. They do things like $2.50 for a side of white or brown rice. Winch is a little over a cup. But now if you want to substitute the white rice that comes with your food to brown its $2.00 fee. There menu is setup to milk the money out of you. I bet if this place had cheaper pricing they would be a line out the door almost every night. read more

I was visiting a friend out of town, and we were both craving Thai food, so we looked up a place that was nearby and decided to check out this place since the photos looked like it had tasty food and a comfy atmosphere. TASTE: I get Thai food occasionally where I am from, and it tends to be okay, so I was expecting the usual. For our meal, my friend and I both had green curry. My friend also ordered a Thai tea, while I had a sweet sticky rice dessert (forgot which). Our food came out and I was surprised at how much vegetables were included in the dish, since I am used to having Thai curry with just the protein and a small helping of veggies. Taste overall was flavorful and had a nice kick, and my friend enjoyed his green curry and Thai tea also. My sweet sticky rice dessert came by and it was very delicious and just a good amount of sweet. I liked how the dessert had a nice texture and enjoyed it as a warm dessert, since I thought it was going to be a cold one. Definitely will order the same thing when I am in town again. SERVICE: Staff was absolutely wonderful. Very friendly, and they were not shy at helping us on what was good and attending to our needs. We were helped out by several including May, who was very kind and made sure that we had a great dinner. I was also impressed at how they were helping out another customer within earshot who was not familiar with Thai food, and made sure to explain in detailed on what was good and was the dishes were. VALUE: Meal ended up costing $17 split both ways between us, which was a great dinner value. Looks like they have a pretty decent lunch special too. ATMOSPHERE: Cozy atmosphere that was surprisingly empty, but we did arrive for an early dinner. Even though we were the only ones there, we saw a bunch of people come in and out, a mix of regular carryout orders and delivery drivers. It was comforting to see that they had a healthy traffic of carryout orders, which probably meant that the menu had a decent selection of tasty entrees. VERDICT: Definite recommend if you're craving Thai comfort food. As a visitor from out of the area I didn't know what to expect here but decided to visit based on a quick Yelp search. The service was not great and a little bit awkward, I'm pretty sure the guy that took our order and the other lady are not fluent in English so the communication was not the best. Amazing Thai food, we order delivery here at least monthly. I ordered the yellow curry last time and it was amazing. The flavor the spice everything was a perfect blend of delicious meat and vegetables in a soup of deliciousness. We also always make sure to order the sweet sticky rice, there's a couple options, mango, banana etc, you can't go wrong-I've tried, but it's always delicious. The food gets here quickly and that speaks volumes about their quick service. I need to eat in one of these time to experience the ambiance, but even just delivery I would highly recommend eating here read more

On a whim I took my family to this restaurant. They were kind enough to take a reservation over the phone and we were promptly seated when we arrived. It wasn't a particularly busy Saturday night but the service was slow. Like most places, they were desperate to hire workers and, tonight, the owner was cooking. This was both good and bad. Good: she's cooking! Bad: She was by herself and dishes were coming out slow. They were also doing quite a bit of take-out, so that further slowed things down. It took 40mins for our dishes to arrive. I should have ordered a quick appetizer. :) We ordered several dishes. Chicken Pad Thai, Crab Noodles, Krachai pineapple fried rice, and Green curry with chicken. Everything was delicious! In their haste to get the dishes out they forgot to put pineapples in the Krachai pineapple fried rice. While it didn't totally ruin the dish, it did take away from our enjoyment. The Crab Noodle used REAL crab and the flavor exploded in my mouth. The Chicken Pad Thai had the right amount of sweetness and I kicked it around with a squeeze of lime. The curry had the right amount of kick for everyone on the table. Including two Thai Teas our bill was around $56. They gave me a 5% discount for paying cash so I walked out paying $65 including tip. Very reasonable! I will definitely be coming back. Next time I think I will opt to add more meat in a few dishes. I'd like a few more shrimp in the fried rice (one per guest) and more crab in the Crab noodle. We were a party of 5 and we love our protein! Oh, and the Tom Yum. Went to this place for dinner with my boyfriend. We entered this place, picked our table and then the waitress gave us the menu. I already know what I wanted to order so I was just waiting for my boyfriend until he's ready. Finally the waitress came to us. My boyfriend ordered their Cashew something with MILD spicy level, I don't remember the exact name. The food came to our table pretty quick. I then scooped my first bite into my mouth and I choked myself because it was TOO DAMN spicy for medium level. Like for real. I've been to a few Thai restaurants and I always order my Pad Thai with medium spicy level but it was never this spicy! And my boyfriend's food didn't have any spicy whatsoever. I didn't want to be an annoying customer but I honestly couldn't eat because it was too spicy, I kept drinking the water and it got worse. My boyfriend talked to the waitress and told her that my food is too spicy, is it possible to make me a new one or do something to my food to make it less spicy. I looked at her and she looked confused but she went to the kitchen anyway and asked them about it. She came to our table and asked me "a new one?" I said "I'm really sorry, I usually order medium spicy level at other places but it's never this spicy" and then she said "umm yea, so more like Asian spicy level?" What was that even supposed to mean? There is no Asian spicy level, I simply asked for medium spicy level for my Pad Thai. That's it. While waiting for my food, there was a woman behind our table called the waitress and complained about her food. She either asked for "no spice at all please" or her food has "no spice at all" So, I know I wasn't the only one who has the spicy thingy problem if another table was also complaining about that. My boyfriend said, apparently this place doesn't know what mild and medium spicy level is. I've been wanting to try this place for a long time now so last night we did and we were not disappointed. We ordered the yellow curry (spice level 2) and the green curry (spice level 3). Both were delicious! As far as spice/heat levels goes, 3 is decent if you like spicy. 4 would probably be good. I got a 2 because the waitress told me the 3 was pretty spicy but I like spicy but I ordered the 2 just to be on the safe side being my first time there. I've eaten the food from here many times, and enjoyed pretty much everything I've had. I had never tried the fresh vegetable spring rolls. If you've had spring rolls from any other place, I don't recommend ordering them from here. They are just a thick hunk of lettuce, wrapped in rice paper with a few carrots and cabbage slices added to the outside. That's it. Just biting into a solid chunk of lettuce. Very disappointing. I was looking for a good Thai restaurant/hole in the wall with decent lunch special pricing since I was in the area, and had narrowed it down to a few places. I ended up deciding on this place based on the reviews. First - it is in a strip mall where it looks like everything around it has been closed. But hey, usually if a business can thrive in a location like this, they have to be doing something right. Service - took about 5 minutes for someone to acknowledge I had walked in...I had to walk in to the dining area of the restaurant before someone asked me if I was there to dine... Sat down, server was attentive. But she couldn't understand a word that I was saying or questions that I asked. I had to point to everything on the menu, as it is not very clear with the lunch menu description that it does come with both the spring roll AND wontons (it read like an 'or' choice). The spice tray that was brought out had been kept in the fridge. And you could tell it had been refrigerated to try and preserve it, so it had taken on the oh so lovely fridge smell. But the fact that they had a good variety spice tray, I gave it another star. Lastly, I had ordered the cashew tofu lunch special 4 hearts (they do hearts instead of stars, cute :)) with 5 being the hottest. The dish came out and it was drowning in a very sweet gravy. So sweet, I had to use a ton of dried chili powder and Thai chili's to try and give it some heat. But the amount of gravy on it was so owerpowering, that it felt more like I was drinking sweet gravy than eating any substance. I've enjoyed better Thai and service and would go somewhere else before coming back here. read more

3.5 Stars This restaurant is small but with a nice decor and is clean at the time of this review. A grade "A" Maricopa Health Inspection Sign is posted in the window. We started with the fresh vegetable rolls that came out quickly with two tasty dipping sauces. The rolls were very crisp and very fresh and were stuffed with crisp iceberg lettuce salad and a basil leaf. I had the stir fried eggplant with chicken. My plate had a nice selection of crisp fresh vegetables and moist chicken but the sauce was on the salty side and was a little more heat and salt than other flavors. I did order the heat level four out of five and I do have to say the number four is on the fiery side so most people will want to go lower than four on the heat scale. My husband had the phad kaprow with beef. I tasted one piece of beef and it was tender and overall good but lacked enough basil. Service was speedy. 3.5 stars I plan to try them again and pick different dishes that might be the specialties. read more

Forwarned vegans.....I've ordered here a few times asking for things to be made vegan....etc...this time the waitress told me everything has fish sauce....and many things couldn't be made without it.
