I am always on the search for different Thai restaurants. While looking for places to have dinner I came across and "new" spot which happened to be a Thai resto in the Concord area. Walking in, I noticed the place looked a lot familiar to a Thai restaurant that used to take its place. From the looks of it, it looks like a whole new management and restaurant took over. **PROs: New ownership and a slight revamping of the interior. Menu with lots of pictures and new Thai dishes I have never tried before. **CONs: A little slow in service, but this can certainly improve with time and more experience. I usually love this place so I don't want to knock down their rating just for today's bad experience so I'm giving them 4 stars based on their service and usual food quality. I often get the Curry Noodle dish, which I ordered today and was super disappointed. They gave me a different noodle than usual and they were SUPER mushy and inedible, there was also barely any veggies, I think I got 2 mushroom slices and 2 baby corn pieces. For the price, this was incredibly disappointing. I probably won't return for awhile, hopefully they'll bring back the non-mushy noodles and be less stingy with ingredients because their food and service are usually great. read more

Had an early dinner here last week while traveling. Ordered the green curry with chicken and rice (which was extra for $2.50, which is why I am only giving four stars). The curry was sublime and perfect. One of the best I have had in a while. Parking was easy and the staff was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend. read more

Too lazy to stop by my favorite Thai restaurant in Berkeley, my bf and I got takeout at this place down the street by his place. I'm glad we bought a Pad See Ew to share because I couldn't have finished it myself, not portion-wise but the amount of sodium in these noodles. No wonder the noodles were so dark. I still do not understand the raving reviews for this place. My bf says it's because they don't have many Thai places in Concord, so people don't have much to compare it to. Maybe they accidentally spilled too much soy sauce or maybe they have better options, but I will not visit this place ever again just for the possibility of stumbling upon something better. We ordered delivery using Grubhub and total time for cooking and delivery was 1.5 hours, considereing I ordered 11 items and live 5 miles away. We got the pad Thai, fried tofu appetizer, fish cakes, pad see ew, duck curry, pumpkin pork curry, chicken satay skewers and papaya salad. The duck curry was my favorite, which we got medium spicy. I thought the spiciness was modest for medium, if you like spicy I suggest going with hot or Above. The pumpkin pork curry was also good though it seemed like the curry used was very similar or the same to the duck curry. Next time, I'll likely go for a green curry if I get a second curry dish. The papaya salad was also good, though a bit spicy even though the dish has no spiciness level. I'm a fan of spicy food so I thought it was fantastic, but some other people who didn't eat spicy food definitely felt the heat. The pad Thai and pad see ew were also good and came in generous portion. We had 6 hungry people eat and we had leftovers of every thing we ordered. I would certainly order from this place again. Ordered yellow curry, basil fried rice, and eggplant stir-fry. Each dish was packed with tons of flavor. The yellow-curry has the perfect mix of sweet and savory. I ordered the fried rice and eggplant dish both in mild, however it was still very hot. For those that like spicy food, this place will def not disappoint. I came here because Mai Tai 2 was closed to be completely honest. I was hesitant because I'm really picky about my Thai food... but I was really happy I tried this place. I came during lunch time on MLK day. I ordered a rice dish, pad kee mao, and a Panang curry with a Thai Tea. Everything was pretty good except the pad kee mao. Could use more flavor. The Thai tea was good too. Not too sweet but creamy. For all my girls out there... bring your husband here because the portions are bigger. Significantly bigger than Mai Tai 2. I had lunch with a girlfriend here and I had enough leftovers to bring home. Enough for me to enjoy it at home and write this review. I have now ordered Koon Thai Kitchen for delivery tti even through UberEats. My first order was missing the main course(Pad Thai) and the only parts of my Mango Sticky Rice dessert that showed up was the rice and ice cream. I was bummed but UberEats refunded me so I just got food elsewhere that night. Tonight, I figured I'd give it another go with KTK - and I'm super happy about it. My order arrived perfectly and they even gave me a complimentary Thai Iced Tea with a sweet note to make up for my previous experience. Excellent business practice and fantastic customer service. My first time here and it is AMAZING! Best Thai I have had in a very long time! Highly recommend!

A girlfriend and I wanted to catch up over Thai food and decided to try Koon Thai because it's so close to her house. It was completely empty when we arrived around 7:30 pm which was a bit concerning at first but it was a Tues evening. We got our normal- fried egg rolls, chicken green curry, veggie Thai fried rice and shrimp pad Thai. Egg rolls were like warm in the middle which produced a slight mushy texture, so perhaps not fried long enough? Green curry was flavorful and not too spicy. Pad Thai was okay- didn't blow me away. I asked for the Thai fried rice to be prepared with brown rice and they accommodated! All in all, I wasn't blown away but would go back. read more

Everything had a faint tint of fish smell. They missed one item on pick up order which was the item for our kid. I should have checked... but it looked pretty organized when I got there. Food was bland and fishy. Pad Thai was average and that shined. Lumpia was like a hot dog in an egg roll. The pineapple fried rice was ok but had only a couple pieces in the rice. I usually enjoy Koon Thai. One of my favorite dishes used to be the Basil Chicken and the Curry Noodles. My daughter and I received our order through delivery, and I have to say that the Basil Chicken lacked the usual medium spice kick, sauce, and just overall flavoring. As soon as I laid eyes on it, I knew it was different. Now the Curry Noodles weren't good at all! I don't know why you guys changed to the ramen noodles. They absorb all the curry sauce and make the noodles mushy. Again, I asked for medium spice, and I tasted no spice. I think you guys should go back to the wide egg noodle or at least give customers the option to choose that type of noodle. read more

My favorite Thai spot in Concord! Friendly staff, crazy good food, great covid protocols... couldn't ask for more! I am out of town, displaced by the Caldor fire, so I am reviewing a restaurant outside my normal range. My brother recommended Koon Thai. It was phenomenal. We frequent three Thai restaurants in SLT and it was, to me, better than any of them. We had Basil Noodles Beef, Cashew Nut Pork, Shrimp with Glass Noodles, and Fried Rice Pork. I've had Basil Noodles before, but not like this. The fresh basil almost whacked you in the head, but in a most excellent way. Pungent, strong... delicious! Shrimp with Glass Noodles was excellent! Very similar to what I've we've had elsewhere, slightly sweeter and heavier on Soy. It was an excellent combination that worked very well. Cashew Nut Pork was great! Hot, but great. We ordered it "medium", and I would quantify it as a bit hotter than what we ordered. My wife did not appreciate it, but others in the room did. Finally, we ordered Fried Rice Pork. It was excellent. My only ding on this restaurant might be that the fried rice was the same price as the entrees. Typically, it would be a bit less. It the authorities refuse to let me go home I definitely want to try some more of their offerings. read more

Went in for lunch randomly because I saw it had good reviews . When I got my food the beef was warm and dry. Almost like it was reheated in a microwave. Possibly leftovers or at least seemed like it was. I'm good with paying for pricey food when it's good but definitely wasn't worth it. My first cup of water I received was also warm with out ice. Then the refill I got was from a pitcher that had ice. Confused about that. The dipping sauce was good. I asked for extra sauce and the sauce came out really cold like it was from the fridge. For my husband's birthday we went to this Thai Restaurant, so glad we did! Everything from Start to finish was wonderful. The owners, husband and wife truly made it a very memorable experience for us! They played the Happy birthday song loud on the speaks then they brought the birthday treat, yummy fried as bananas with icecream and as good dise serving of sticky sweet rice with fresh mangos! We ordered lots of diff food and they were all good but I really loved the Curry noodles with shrimp...they are very generous with the amount of shrimp in all our dishes. Boyfriend and I came here a couple weeks ago because it was hot and new business on yelp. It was formerly Kamrai, which we really enjoy their food (sadly that they're gone). So we came here during lunch time to give it a try. I got the Chicken Pad Thai, and based on the yelp reviews, it seems like most folks enjoyed it. I didn't like it at all. The flavor didn't stand out, and It was missing something. The flavor wasn't the typical pad thai that I had at other authentic thai places. The salad that came on the side did not go well with the pad thai. Who puts Honey Mustard dressing on the salad with Pad Thai? It was not a good mix. They should've put something sweet and tarty, that would go well with the pad thai. Boyfriend had the Pad Krapow, and also, flavor didn't stand out as much. Laab Chicken, not the typical authentic thai style. It seems more of short cut way. Grounding the chicken instead of mincing it, it defeats the texture of laab. Flavor wise, as other dishes, it was lacking flavor. This place lacks authentic thai flavors (maybe focusing and targeting the lighter flavor side), and to compare it to Kamrai and other great thai restaurant in the area, we're not coming back. read more

Delicious new Thai restaurant where Kamrai used to be! I had their pad thai and thai tea and I actually prefer their pad thai over Kamrai's. I came very early for dinner and was the only customer there for awhile - the waitress was very attentive and friendly. The pad thai and thai tea were both perfect! Pad thai was a bit on the sweeter side and I would've preferred a slice of lime to add to it but next time I'll just request that. I'll definitely come back! read more

We ordered two appetizers, the calamari and fried tofu in peanut sauce. Both were good - we finished both plates. Then we ordered our Thai staple dishes - Pad Thai and chicken in yellow curry. Pad Thai was very good and the chicken in yellow curry was tasty too, especially on top of white rice. With tax, it was $47 for both of us. It was a good start.
