    Tom Kha Soup
    Glenn L.

Back to our local Thai place. We had the Tom Kha Soup, the fish cake appetizer, the pumpkin curry with chicken and some rice. The soup was great and we appreciated the waiter saying a small would work for two of use. The fish cake appetizer is more of a salad and really good. The curry was great - I love how their curries are more broth based. Overall, a solid Thai restaurant.

Tha Lai Thong... Seafood stir fry... Very flavorful with a hint of spice.

I enjoy their homemade juices... $7 for small and $10 large. These are sold separately from the menu. They are refreshing. I tried their Tom Yum Soup. Soup was flavorful with lots of chicken and mushroom. I lacked of a tangy, lime flavor. And, they do not offer Asian soup spoons. I don't like using metal spoons for my soup. My husband's favorite dish is the Durnken Noodles or Pad Kee Mao. Thick noodles with basil sauce. We also enjoy their yellow curry. Overall, the restaurant is consistent and priced reasonably compared to other restaurants. Support your local business and visit this restaurant if you're in the area.

Love this place, amazing Thai food and a super friendly staff. We always get the BBQ platter and the Pineapple Fried rice. A family favorite for years.

    Chicken satay and cucumber salad

There are plenty of Thai restaurants in this area and I am excited to try all of them! This is the first in the area I am trying. I was craving Pad see eww with beef and chicken satay. I did not have a menu with me and ordering as I was driving, darn if I knew they had stuffed chicken wings I would have ordered that too! Not many places have the stuffed angel wings and when you can get them, you should try them! Not everyone does it well either, so you just have to try it! The pad see eww did not have the hint of sweetness I often have with other pad see eww. This was more using the dark soy sauce (which has a distinct taste) so more salty dry kind. I skipped the eggs which I personally do not like in my pad see eww. This was bland other than the salty taste-good with broccoli in it and carrots. I suspect a bit too much dark soy sauce was put into the dish per the taste. It was still good enough to satisfy my craving though. Chicken satay was dried out-because it is thinly cut, it can dry out faster when cooked so a fine balancing act. The peanut sauce was good but very thick and gloppy(is that a word-lol? Like gelatinous like.) and not a creamy smooth texture that I usually like or make. Cucumber salad served as an accompaniment was good and refreshing. Overall it was okay-it will do,but not the best, just okay. I might come back after trying all the Thai restaurants in the area just to try the stuffed wings!

I have been frequenting this spot ever since discovering it a few years ago. A true hidden gem! The food is consistently fresh and tasty. My favorites include the fresh spring rolls and pad thai. I usually come here to get the lunch special, the portion size is pretty large and reasonably priced. The service is usually pretty fast even on busier days. This may be my favorite thai spot in the East Bay! It's hard to find a place that keeps the quality of their food consistent and Mai Thai does just that!

Roti with curry sauce, 100/10 rec

This is the type of hole in the wall you want to write about, while you're still enjoying your meal BECAUSE every bite just tastes soo good and consistency with every flavor. I moved here last year, but I've been in the area for 3+ years now. I could not even try another Thai place out here cause the one I love (thought I couldn't replace is in SF!) so we were super hesitant about bringing me here and I was hopeful without reading reviews, cause he was craving pad see ew! I put him on since that was the only thing he ate. This place gives you so much flavor in their entrees. The plates come out so full, smells sooooo good and tastes so fresh. I'm drooling over every bite I had. I loved it in here so much. I was enjoying my food and not once did they rush us, the place was getting packed, but everyone that served us, and the manager (possibly) always asked if we're okay and needed anything. They had people offering to-go, coming in to get seated, and waiting outside. A true hole in the wall but such a diamond in the rough. Absolutely loved their customer service, everyone had a smile and was always patient and helped with ordering if needed. Anyway, the food we ordered 10/10 The appetizer platter (2 of almost everything) They put two of their best on the plate. $13~ 10/10 Roti with curry sauce $10 Nice and crispy, soft and chewy on the inside. Sauce was another level of taste, so good. I added it on my chicken 10/10 BBQ chicken Happy it came out chopped up, I thought it would be on skewers. Nice, soft chicken and tender! Tastey! 100/10 Pad See Ew So much flavor, rice noodles the perfect texture, beef soft and tender, veggies nice crunchy and so much flavor Loved the area. Straight to the point, little decorations here, comfy seating for the most part. My son slept with pillows. lol 100/10 come in and enjoy. I've never been to Thailand so I will not say what tastes authentic and what doesn't, but I will say, this def has the same consistency as King of Thai in the city (if not, 3xs better!)

Thai Iced Tea (Large) get this!
    Kate C.

Had a nice lunch at Mai Thai. Service was quick. The appetizer combo was good(3/5), the padseeew (3/5) was lacking flavor so we mixed the peanut sauce from the appetizer combo and it was so much better. The star of the meal and the reason we will be back is the Pumpkin curry! WOW! (10/10). Thai iced tea we ordered the large (5/5)

I met my friends Sarah and David for dinner here on 11/04/2025. We walked in at 5:30pm and were immediately greeted by the lone female server, who seated us at a table towards to back of the restaurant. The interior was very clean, and lighting was soft and warm. The giant restaurant logos on the walls were prominently displayed. Their menu featured a wide array of appetizers, soups, bibimbaps, cold and hot noodles, meat dishes, etc. We opted against their signature kalbijjim and instead got three entrée combos (L.A. galbi, spicy pork, and bulgogi). Each entrée came with our choice of tofu soup. Half a dozen banchans were brought to us before the arrival of the entrées. The buchu (chives) and baechu (Napa cabbage) kimchi were excellent. Our food took about 15 minutes to arrive. Portion wise, the tofu soups were of decent size, but the meat entrées were kind of stingy (they were served in small round skillets). I had the seafood tofu soup and it was very good. It was loaded clams, shrimp, and squid. We shared the entrées, and they all tasted great. The only gripe I had was a couple pieces of the galbi had very little meat on them. Service we received was great. Our server was friendly, helpful, and efficient. The total was somewhere around $130 (with a bottle of soju, a tangerine slushy, and a soda). Overall, we all thought the food was good. Return trip very likely. 4 stars. I've heard of Yi Ji Chang Fen but only tried it today. I've eaten so much dim sum in my lifetime, so my standard for dim sum may be higher. We came around 5PM on a Saturday and there wasn't anyone really there. It could be because dim sum feels more like a morning or lunch thing, or it could just be because we were there for a very early dinner. Between our party, we shared: - Marinated Chicken and Mushroom Rice Roll - Stuffed Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf - Steamed Chicken Feet w/ Black Bean Sauce - Black Gold Egg Custard Buns - Chicken Feet with Herbs - Dry Style Beef Chow Fun And one Honey Lemon Tea for me. The honey lemon tea was a comfort for the cold day. Maybe a bit too much honey, but still good for the throat during the dry season. The chow fun came first and surprisingly it was not bad. There was a bit of 'wok hey' there and it stands out as one of the better dishes we had. As for the rice roll - I wanted to try something less conventional and I've never seen chicken in rice rolls, so I thought it would be interesting to try. It was quite disappointing though. Their rice roll was bigger than normal in width so with rice rolls being a struggle to pick up already, the bigger size made it an even bigger struggle. Everything just slipped out of the rice roll and it wasn't evenly wrapped. There were some bunched up layers on the edges. I think the chicken just didn't pair that well either and it was lacking in ingredients. Maybe the more conventional rice rolls would be better. For the two types of chicken feet, I normally like the one in herbal soup. If made well, the chicken feet has a nice flavor to it. For Yi Fen's herbal chicken feet, their portion was pretty good, but flavor was less prominent. I enjoyed the chicken feet in black bean sauce more because the flavor was better. Lastly, for the stuffed sticky rice and black gold egg custard buns, I suspect that these are not made in-house, but rather store-bought. The sticky rice lacked ingredients and the rice was a little harder than if made fresh. And the perfectly shaped black buns with a golden brush stroke on top (which I've seen all over the internet) seemed too elevated-looking compared to everything else. I'm not the biggest fan of molten lava buns, but they came out nicely. I didn't have any, but the molten lava custard was pretty runny. All in all, an okay experience. Service was a bit lacking. I don't recommend the dim sum dishes, but if I happen to want congee, I may give this place another go. Apart from the dim sum and rice rolls, the noodles I glimpsed from other customers looked not bad. I wonder if other locations are better.
