Updated the review to a 1 star. The worst and rudest service I have ever experienced. I very rarely give 1 star. I've done over 300 reviews and only given out 13 reviews with 1 star. I'm an easy person to please, I'm not some demanding Karen...but this place definitely deserves a big fat thumbs down. We are regulars here, and when we have out of town visitors, this is one of the places we take them to. Today family was visiting for Thanksgiving, so we took them here, 11/26/2025 at 6:30pm. Only 1 table was dining in, but had a handful of to-go orders. Dirty dishes were piled on every table. No acknowledgement, even after waiting 15 mins. I wanted to leave, but the rest decided to stay. We cleared and wiped down our own table, sat ourselves. 7:00pm- Server finally comes to take our order. He is extremely rude. Sighs, rolling his eyes, angry tone, major attitude. The final straw was when we requested if he could read the order back to us, and he said "NO!" and stomped away. It felt like we were on some prank show, but sadly it wasn't. We decided to leave. We told him that he was rude, but he didn't care. The place was empty when we left, we were the only customers, so they definitely weren't busy. I guess he wanted to go home early. Suffice to say, I can cross off this place from my list. We ended up going right down the street to Saneh Bangkok, where we had an amazing meal, with great service. Seems like we weren't alone in our poor experience. There is a 2 star review posted today from someone else with a similar experience- this is a different party, I don't know them. I guess its comforting to know they give angry service to everyone, not just us! read more

Came in after church with my parents. We've been here before, so just doing a quick update. Surprised I've never reviewed before w/ 3 check-ins. Inside is nice and clean. The cushion on the chairs is a nice touch. Service was great. While it was just us and another table, food was fast and my water was always filled. WITH ICE TOO. Superb. Food is delicious, and very on par with good Thai food. Standard base dishes that can be mixed with different proteins. Pad Kee Mow and the Eggplant were delicious and fresh. The Papaya Salad, while tasty, I'm a little disappointed in because they use the hand shredder. I think it's ok for high volume output, but my respect factor goes WAY up when they hand cut the salad. Overall a good Thai spot should the craving arise, but not my first choice for Thai food in Contra Costa County. read more

My wife and I were craving good Thai and remember reading about this place in a local FB group. We stopped by and Som, one of the owners greeted us and checked to see if we had any questions. We ordered the Spice Thai Basil (ordered it mild, but should have gone for medium) along with the Drunken Noodles. There aren't very many Thai places around me, so I ventured out to Martinez to check this spot out. I am in love with their table condiments. A Spicy dry seasoning imported from Thailand, a house made chili oil, and a siracha style sauce. All of them were so delicious. For my meal I ordered fried chicken over rice and shrimp pad Thai. The fried chicken over rice was so good! Great flavor on the rice and the chicken had great crunch to it. Pad Thai was also good and even better with the dry spicy seasoning. I just landed in the Bay for the holidays and was excited to try this spot since Thai is my family's favorite. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the moment we walked in. We were greeted with attitude and a short-tempered male staff member who acted like taking our order was an inconvenience. When we asked about the lunch special, he literally slapped the menu to show us instead of simply handing it over or pointing it out respectfully. Completely unnecessary. If you're in customer service, basic courtesy should not be optional. Needless to say we won't be returning, and I'll be letting my family know not to patronize this business either. I had a very special lunch here with a friend. The decor is inviting and the hostess sat us immediately with a huge smile. Our food was out to us in a timely fashion, and thankfully I ordered mine with no spice but asked for the spice jars to be brought to the table. We decided to try it after seeing several Yelp reviews praising it as "authentic" and "the best Thai in the East Bay." Being our first time, we ordered a few classics: Pumpkin Curry, Pad See Ew, and their specialty dish, Crispy Pork Belly. * Pumpkin Curry - very thin and watery, lacking flavor, and served in a small portion. * Pad See Ew - overly greasy, far too salty, and again a small portion. * Crispy Pork Belly - the biggest letdown. It was chewy rather than crispy with most bites having the texture of jerky, extremely salty, and the serving size was tiny. And not to nitpick, but we not once had our water refilled. Unfortunately, the food quality and portions didn't match the reputation. We won't be returning. read more

This is by far the best Thai we've had in East bay. We were very happy to learn that all their curries can be made vegan or vegetarian since they do not have shrimp paste in their curry paste. Five stars for food, service and ambiance. My friend selected yellow curry from the lunch menu with pot stickers as the appetizer. I had a Thai food craving, and I'm always down to check out new places. I noticed this place because I go to taekwondo in the area, and I've seen this place as I leave after taekwondo finishes. I just didn't feel like cooking one evening, so I came by and ordered a chicken satay and shrimp pad Thai to-go. The satay was really good, and the peanut sauce was really rich and savory, which is how I like my food. However, when I started eating the pad Thai, I noticed that my pad Thai had chicken instead of shrimp. I quickly called the place back and told them. After they verified with their receipts that I had ordered shrimp, they asked if I could come back with the pad Thai they gave me. I went back, and after the employee made sure that my order had chicken, he went back to the chef and got the right order. As an apology, the employee also comped the chicken pad Thai. Both pad Thai dishes were good, but I noticed the shrimp was kind of watery, so that told me they kinda hastily cleaned the shrimp without drying it before cooking. Also, the food was kinda oily and greasy on the bottom, so while the service is a 5/5, the food is 4.2/5. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE! For starters, the staff are so kind and welcoming. They provide such great service it really makes you feel at home just walking through the doors! They are so on top of getting the food out, checking up on customers, and just everything! The inside is SO SO SO pretty :D every time i walk in i'm amazed by how nice it looks inside. It isn't a very big restaurant but it feels like you're walking into a whole new world in there! There are lights all around, and flowers that decorate the walls. They even redecorate the front desk around holidays too! The food is amazing in flavor and portions! I usually get a lao style papaya salad which is super tasty! I really like getting appetizers too to share with friends but it also looks super cute! The pad thai, pad see ew, and red curry chicken are also really great dishes to try! My sister and I were heading home from Davis. My sister had mentioned Home Thai Cafe and I love a great Thai Restaurant. The whole family came out to dinner. We arrived at Home Thai Cafe and the inside was super cute. Everyone that worked there was super friendly and helpful. Our waiter was super sweet and checked up on us to make sure we had everything we needed. My mom and I ordered hot tea. Our waiter brought our tea cups filled with hot water. He then brought a wooden box and inside was plethora of teas. I chose Early grey but not sure what my mom chose. My sister and her boyfriend ordered Thai ice tea. My mom and my dad shared the appetizer Home Thai Combo and the Grilled Pork Salad. The Home Thai Combo had Chicken Satay, veggie roll, Crab Rangoon, Crispy Tofu and fish cakes. I tried the veggie rolls and they were delicious. My sister ordered the Pad Thai with Chicken. My sister's boyfriend ordered the Pad Thai with Shrimp I ordered the See You with chicken. This was very good! The portions are pretty big. My sister, her boyfriend and I both took our food home. I can't wait to have it for lunch tomorrow. All the food was great! It was our first time visiting this restaurant. We ordered the chicken wings I'm pretty sure that anyone who ordered and received these wings would have thought they were being pranked. Like what are these even? Fried bones?! There was 3 drumettes (one missing from picture because it fell out after I flipped the lid all the way open) These were not fresh, my guess is they were cooked the day before and reheated. Not to mention these were $15. Not acceptable whatsoever. I have never ever ordered wings from anywhere before and have them look like this. Home Thai Cafe has been our new favorite Thai restaurant near my home. We ordered Crispy Pork Belly with Chinese Broccoli, Eggplant with bell peppers, basil, and we added ground pork, and the grilled pork salad. All three plates were delicious. We usually like our spice level as medium, however, our server warned us their medium spice level is a bit spicy, but we ordered it anyways. I was sweating, but my mouth wasn't really burning. Went here with my mom. A good restaurant (cafe), not knowing why not much people coming over :( Foods are really delicious, not too salty like any other Thai restaurants. The spicy level is just perfect. Tom Kha soup is very tasty and lot of ingredients. We ordered the curry and basil beef lunch special, a Thai coffee(a bit sweeter than expected). Prices are reasonable. Service is great, the young gentleman is very friendly and always confirm everything on our tables are okay. Really decent work lunch option in Martinez. They have lunch specials which are $12-15 depending on the chosen protein. I really liked the fact that you can split checks so you don't have the awkward payment issue. I ordered the Pad thai lunch special with chicken which came with salad and potstickers. For $12, it was a great portion. Plenty of parking and seating inside. For a Friday lunch, it was pretty empty inside. The guy said it wasn't a mistake and some other words that didn't make sense to me, but I paid anyway and left with my soup. When I got home and started eating, there were not any shrimps, not even 1. So I paid $22 for something that should have been $16. Also was not spicy at all, but that may be on me for not saying I wanted it spicy, wasn't asked either though. Anyway, I like Thai food and so was wondering why I don't eat there more often.
