Definitely check this local restaurant out! The staff was friendly and service was great. Plenty of seats on a weekday night. I think there are some menu items that are better than others. Ginger Chilean Sea Bass - this is a premium menu item but I don't think it's worth it in my opinion. It's a bit small and doesn't stand out in terms of flavor. Garlic Noodle - it was good, portion is a bit small but I would recommend if you have a smaller appetite Tea Leaf Salad was delicious, fresh, and tasty. This place is fire! First time trying this place out. They have a big Burmese menu and everything looks interesting. Since our experience was so good, we will definitely be back to try different entrees. We started with the tea leaf salad and I recommend doing half cabbage and half lettuce. The roasted peanuts in the salad were super tasty and added great texture. For entrees, we had the traditional shrimp curry and the lemongrass chicken with house fried rice. Everything was flavorful and well balanced. Service was on point and super friendly the entire time. We will be back to try their cocktails next time. Tips: Great place for a date night. Both the food and service were really good. When we arrived at about 7:15pm on a Saturday night, there were two people waiting for take out and the restaurant was packed. They cleared a table and sat us down which was the last available table. The lady waiting for take out recommended the Samosas, Sesame Chicken, and Mango Chicken. We started with the Samosas and a Tea Leaf Salad with both cabbage and lettuce. I loved the salad and my family enjoyed the samosas. For entrees, we had the Chicken Fried Rice, Mango Chicken mild, Spicy Noodles with the high spicy level, and the Burmese Beef with the high spicy level. The spicy noodles were a touch too spicy but we ate the whole dish because it was still very yummy. The Burmese Beef had a nice level of heat which we cut with the fried rice and sake. My son liked the Mango Chicken. The servers came to check on us a few times and cleared plates as we ate. The ambiance is casual but nice with white table cloths. My first time here and food, service, and ambiance is 5/5. I have nothing but good to say about this place. I think I've had Burmese food twice before but it has been awhile. As you walk in you are greeted by one of their staff and we are seated right away. It not a huge restaurant but it's not small one either. You can smell the food as you walk in and it smells so good it makes you hungry even more. The decor is beautiful. It has a glimpse of their culture shown in paintings. I loved looking at them. The place also looks clean and tidy. For the food we ordered a couple of appetizers and main dishes to share. Love, loved the salt and pepper tofu. It's a good starter, but don't forget the sauce. We also ordered samosa's which had good flavor inside and crispy on the outside. For the main dishes we had: Spicy noodle with shrimp, Traditional Red Curry Chicken, and MayLika's Fiery with tofu and beef. All these dishes had wonderful flavors and they did not skimp on the protein. Last but not least we shared a dessert. The Dubai Dessert Palatha. I've never had anything like it. Love the palatha and ice cream combination. We have to have that ice cream. Note: the chicken in the Red curry was so tender and not dry (as chicken in curry's tend to be dry at times). Prompt service and friendly waitstaff are my initial impressions of this always busy restaurant in downtown Benicia. We ordered a bottle of Hugel Gewertztraminer for its light bodied drinkability and floral notes. I also ordered a strawberry puree cocktail called Love Bomb which was strawberry puree with prosecco and a side of sake - sweet like a dessert but still charming with the little dried flowers. Overall I rounded up only due to the portion sizes. Came here for lunch on a Wednesday it wasn't crowded. We were sat on the patio which was pretty cute. Nice instagrammable area. Our server was attentive but didn't really offer any recommendations. I ordered the following items: crispy chicken (which I thought were going to be wings) they were strips. I rate them 3 out of 5. The strips were pretty hard and the chicken was dry. The sauce was delicious. Burmese Crispy Pork Belly- 5 out of 5. Really tasty, sauce was the perfect compliment and the pork was seasoned and really good. Shrimp noodles -3 out of 5, I'm not a fan of the flat egg noodles yet these were good when you covered them in the sauce. If you didn't have the sauce they were dry and sticky. (Running theme here is the sauce is FIRE) Crab fried rice with real crab meat 5 out of 5! This was my favorite it has been so long since I've had crab fried rice that you can actually see the crab meat! (No sauce needed for this one folks) Overall for the heft price tag of $100 (included tip) it's not a spot I'd frequent often. It was two people and while we ate this family style it would not be enough food for a third which is a bummer at that price point. Street parking, the bar next door has a parking lot but all the signs say "bar parking only" if you're in the area and want to try something new.. definitely give it a go. read more

This meal was a disappointment. i've enjoyed "Burmese Tea Leaf" salad at other Buremese restaurants and looked forward to this version. It was terrible. There were no visible tea leaves in the salad at all, certianly not fresh tea leaves. And what there was (sort of a few dried crumbled leaves) had no distinctive taste and certainly no fermentation. The rest of the salad was iceberg lettuce and cabbage, not terribly fresh. The crunch parts were alright - peanuts and peas - but hard to get that wrong. The shrimp had a fish taste that made me think it was not really fresh. I was able to eat only about half of it, and set aside the fishy shrim in disgust. Proably not worth a second visit. This clearly is a kitchen with very low standards of freshness and quality of ingredients and little skill or pride. read more

It was my first time trying Aung MayLika in Benicia and Burmese food in general, and I'm happy to say I was pleasantly surprised! The staff were very kind and considerate, making sure we don't have any food allergies and checked up on our table pretty often to make sure things were good. The entire ambiance was beautiful, and I'm glad we ended up choosing to sit outside at the patio because of how nicely decorated it was there. As for the food, I got the mango tofu plate with brown and it was delicious! I visited on a Friday afternoon with a friend. The location is great, lots of park nearby. The restaurant is situated right on the corner and the vibe is safe and welcoming. I was greeted as soon as I arrived and met with my friend who was already seated on the back patio. The restaurant is extremely clean and has a nice ambience. I used to really like this restaurant. The food is wonderful. Our experience last night, however, will be the last time we order from this place. Last night my husband and I walked downtown and ordered takeout. It was cold outside, so we asked if we could sit at a table in the corner and wait rather than stand outside. The table hadn't been cleaned and was dirty. I asked one of the servers if she'd mind cleaning it and the response was that, no she wasn't going to clean it since we weren't ordering food to eat in. We spend a lot of money on takeout from this place. In my opinion, it doesn't matter where we are eating the food, we spent money here, we were guests of this place, and it would have taken maybe two minutes to wipe the table down. So we continued to wait with our hands in our laps so that we wouldn't touch the food laying on the table. This is not the first time I've been treated rudely by staff. A while back, I ordered Salt and Pepper Swai Fish which was like rubber. When I called and spoke with the manager, she argued with me rather than apologizing and trying to make it right. It was my first time here, and it's such a cute place! Parking is pretty much street parking, but at least you don't have to pay. Heheh It's located in a cute small downtown like area with lots of small shops and restaurants. When you enter, you're greeted by the hostess and sat down. Our server was really nice. He checked up on us periodically. I went on a Tuesday and it was busier than I would have thought. Lots of people are coming in for their call in order, and a handful set inside and ate. (which shows a lot as far as the quality of food they make.) I got the chicken with biryani rice (and requested for a mild spice). The chicken was very tender and juicy, and the rice was nice and fluffy. I did request for mild spice, but the heat was intense. Also tried the tea salad, which was refreshing! They cook with a lot of flavor that really blends well together! I also tried their orange chicken, and their appetizer wrap. The orange chicken was cooked well but the only thing I could say about the appetizer wrap is that it was definitely deep-fried because when you bite into it, you can taste the oils coming out. Oh, then for desert we had a dish I don't recall the name of but it was a tapioca like substance with mango and coconut cream. A worthwhile indulgence! We've only been twice and both times we sat inside. The tables are closed to one another and it can get pretty loud when it is crowded. They do have a patio option, so maybe when the weather is warmer, that would be a more peaceful option. Still, the food is great and worth the noisy environment.
