Great service, clean restaurant with a nice outdoor patio in the back. This was our first time eating Burmese food and it was all really yummy, fresh, and tasty. The crispy pork belly was perfectly crisped and yummy with the sauce. The wings with the fries were also really good
We came here for lunch on a week day and it was pretty busy. It was our first time here. The place is cutely decorated and we were seated at the table booth closest to the door. I ordered a drink and it was good. I thought the presentation was so cute. We ordered a bunch of dishes a few that I remembered is the crab fried, pad thai, beef dish, shrimp dish and green beans. Everything came out in a row and it was so good! Loved everything we ordered and would go back to try out more of the menu. It was a bit pricy but at least the food was good and we had some to bring home for leftovers.
Wow... didn't realize how good the food is here.. I'm glad I came.. the samosas were very good with the sauce - the spicy shrimp was spicy... I liked everything.. service was very fast - easy parking and easy in and out. I walk with a cane now and it's easy for me to get around here . They have a cute patron seating for outdoor seating ... it's a great place to eat . Nice people and great food
I love this place. I usually do take out. Dining inside was great. My party of two ordered a variety from the menu. I highly recommend the Tea Leaf Salad. I did love the Chilean Sea Bass and Coconut Salmon. New also order some Samosas for appetizer (not pictured). It was very yummy! Service was quick and everyone was super courteous. They asked right away if we had any food allergies. There's also an optional seating outside. We opted to eat inside. We will definitely come back again.
I love the honey beef and the salt and pepper chicken here, definitely two of my go-to comfort foods. I always order ahead and pick it up. Their lassi and lemonades are good too.
Reviewing this restaurant after having dinner here twice. Once last weekend and the first time back in November of last year. Our first visit in November was excellent. Everything we ordered was fantastic and the service was great. We raved about the restaurant to family members that lived nearby and even purchased a gift card for them. Our second visit last weekend wasn't as great, but it was still enjoyable. We had Lychee Sake on the back patio while we waited for out party to arrive. Our server was good although he seemed a bit irritable and in a rush. The food was excellent although the portions seemed a bit on the small side. Highly disappointed in the Garlic Noodles with chicken that barely tasted like garlic and only had a few tiny scraps of chicken in it. Wouldn't recommend that dish but everything else was great. The restaurant itself is on the small side and would probably feel a bit claustrophobic during busy shifts but they have a nicely decorated back patio with plenty of tables. Parking can be a bit tough on busy nights since it's mostly street parking and downtown can get pretty busy.

Well, a friend also recommend it as they live in town. Small town, most places do close pretty early. I think they closed around 8pm when we arrived. They were able to accommodate my group last minute. It was Thursday, the farmers market was going on out front and the place was pretty mellow. Inside, it was mellow but once you were in the back patio, it was pretty lively. It's where they seated us. First time also trying Burmese food. Menu did have a lot of dishes that are pretty much similar to the other southeast asian dishes. Pretty much the seasonings varies here and there. Service was great from start to finish as everyone was very sweet and friendly. Constantly checking in on us to make sure that everything was taken care of. Food wise, we started off with some of their starter. Burmese chicken wings and added fries. The seasoning was quite nice and tasty. Tossed with fries, onions, bell peppers and garlic bits. Quite tasty. Shrimp basket, classic fried shrimp in rice paper. Just like an egg roll. They were quite nice and tasty. Crispy pork belly, marinated pork belly served with a tamarind sauce. The nice crunch and sweet sauce were all great together. Entrees, a mixture of everything to share. The spicy noodles which were pretty much similar to pad Thai. Stir fry noodles with bell peppers, onions, green onions, mushrooms, scrambled eggs, peanuts and adorned with shredded cabbage. Perry much their version of pad Thai. It was good but a little too sweet for my liking. Burmese style chicken biryani, slow cooked chicken thighs and drumsticks marinated in butter, yogurt, masala, ginger and served with biryani rice. That was a meal in its own. Tasty with the sauce and the chicken literally fell off the bone. Basil chili beef was quite nice. The flavors were really good and the beef was tender. Fiery pork was a recommendation from the waiter which was also a nice dish. Stir fry tofu with pork, red onion, bell peppers, string beans, garlic and a house special soy sauce. Tasty dish as well. Lastly the chicken red curry. Slow cooked with potatoes, onions, Marsala, paprika in a rich sauce. Served with steamed rice. It was good but the other dishes outshine it. We did like the food. Very similar to a lot of other Asian dishes but their version and take on it. Pretty much similar but change it up with the spices. Service was great and the place was nice. Glad we got a table on the patio versus inside.
Definitely check this local restaurant out! The staff was friendly and service was great. Plenty of seats on a weekday night. I think there are some menu items that are better than others. Ginger Chilean Sea Bass - this is a premium menu item but I don't think it's worth it in my opinion. It's a bit small and doesn't stand out in terms of flavor. Garlic Noodle - it was good, portion is a bit small but I would recommend if you have a smaller appetite Tea Leaf Salad was delicious, fresh, and tasty. Coconut Chicken Noodle Soup was the star of the show! Creamy and flavorful broth with lots of toppings and textures. I would order this one again. Fried banana and mango sago-- can't go wrong with either of them!
This place is fire! First time trying this place out. They have a big Burmese menu and everything looks interesting. Since our experience was so good, we will definitely be back to try different entrees. We started with the tea leaf salad and I recommend doing half cabbage and half lettuce. The roasted peanuts in the salad were super tasty and added great texture. For entrees, we had the traditional shrimp curry and the lemongrass chicken with house fried rice. Everything was flavorful and well balanced. Service was on point and super friendly the entire time. We will be back to try their cocktails next time. Tips: Great place for a date night. There are ice cream spots like Double Rainbow within walking distance, which makes it a nice dinner and dessert combo. Authentic Burmese food with excellent customer service? Say less. This restaurant has so many positive reviews that I just had to try it! And of course, it did not disappoint. Their BBQ pork fried rice was flavorful. Chicken crisp had great texture. Crispy, saucy, but not soggy. Golden noodle salad was labeled as a "salad" but definitely felt more of a noodle dish. What I really like about this dish is the umami flavor as well as the combination of crunchy and soft textures with every bite. And my favorite - the tea leaf salad! I've mentioned crunchy crispy texture throughout the other dishes, BUT this tea leaf salad had the most satisfying bites. Love the food, the experience, and definitely would recommend!
We met my wife's nephew & his lovely good family friend here. Unfortunately we ate back several months ago & I had been quite busy to write a review right away. The Burmese food was however excellent & service was friendly & not overly imposing. At the end of our perfect delicious tasty meal with the best company my wife went outside to observe the outdoor patio. It appeared quite cute & covered from the sun. My wife thought why didn't we eat outside??? Aw next time. Side note: this restaurant is across the street from that haunted Union hotel. My wife ordered the following: tea leaf salad, curry beef, mango chicken, veggie dish, lettuce wrap chicken, shrimp & crispy pork belly. One of our surprisingly faves was the crispy pork belly! Aw quite tasty!!! We would love to return back down the line to try the skillet shrimp & black pepper beef & even take to go! It's funny how we were all fighting over paying for the bill but bc it was my wife's bday month her nephew had taken care of the bill from the beginning. Thank you Aaron! Went with a party of 7 people and traveled a long way to try the food which we were told was really good. The food was tasty however the portions vs the prices did not equate. The noodles were served in a small bowl. Not everyone could try them. I had a spoonful of the garlic noodles and none of the spicy (which was what I wanted to taste most). I even asked before hand if the amount of food ordered was enough for everyone to taste and the waitress said, assuredly, yes! Again the food tasted great but the serving sizes were not close to expectations. One other critique is that we were charged, (see receipt), a "surcharge"! No one mentioned it to us beforehand and it should've been. When the check arrived, on the underside of the bill it said 20% surcharge for parties of 5 or more. That's not advanced communication. It was close to 30.00!!!!!!! Had we known that 2 of us would've sat separately. Do better and don't deceive. It cost you a much larger tip than you required us to pay. And left a bad taste in my mouth.
Excellent service & exceptional fresh food with lots of flavor. My favorite Burmese restaurant in Benicia. Outdoor ambiance is also refreshing and relaxing. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Highly recommend this place.

Great service! I swear I had been here a couple years ago and the menu was just a front and back piece of paper with maybe 20-ish items. This time around we decided a 6 page booklet with desserts, entrees, appetizers, etc. went for lunch and had a couple items on their seperate chef's specialties and lunch menu. We are family style and still had left overs for a table of 4. Salt & Pepper fish- yummmmm and great size portion for our table. Complex flavors that were more sophisticated from what you would find at a Chinese restaurant. I love salt & pepper fish and this one was well seasoned. Sautéed eggplant- I don't typically like eggplant cooked this way but I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. Chicken kebat- really good and went well with our crab fried rice. We had it made mild which went down well with all 4 of us. Crab fried rice- I wasn't a fan of the Tobiko because I felt like it took way from the fried rice. There were such huge chunks of crab visible in the dish but it was majorly overpowered by the chucnks. Mango sago- Delicious. I have to say I've never had mango sago like this with the blended mango and without coco de nato. read more

Food was so yummy but service could be a little better. When the server did come to our table he was nice and helpful but barely came to us. I would say it might have been due to my friend ordering a drink not realizing what she ordered and when brought to the table she set back instantly. I don't blame him, though he never showed his frustration, he came to the table maybe twice and we had to ask for our check through someone else. We decided to sit outside, close to edge of patio, beware their pits are behind the fences and ashes fly over fence. I had to cover my drink. We ordered: Burmese Chicken Wings 10/10- so worth the price even though you get like 4-5 wings. Garlic Noodles 10/10 - a perfect balance of garlic and flavor. The sauce gives more flavor Black Peeper Beef- 10/10 I love the meat was sliced thin and full of flavor. Honey Walnut Shrimp- 7/10 huge shrimp, I rate 7 because I am not a fan of seafood so probably much higher rating who eats seafood like that. A perfect sweetness and crunch from the walnuts. The server was great to offer to bring me hot sauce on the side since my friend was not a fan of spicy and if you ask for the hot sauce it is hot, say take in moderation to fit your spice level. I would definitely be back to try different things on the menu since it all looked so yummy. read more

My first time here and food, service, and ambiance is 5/5. I have nothing but good to say about this place. I think I've had Burmese food twice before but it has been awhile. As you walk in you are greeted by one of their staff and we are seated right away. It not a huge restaurant but it's not small one either. You can smell the food as you walk in and it smells so good it makes you hungry even more. The decor is beautiful. It has a glimpse of their culture shown in paintings. I loved looking at them. The place also looks clean and tidy. For the food we ordered a couple of appetizers and main dishes to share. Love, loved the salt and pepper tofu. It's a good starter, but don't forget the sauce. We also ordered samosa's which had good flavor inside and crispy on the outside. For the main dishes we had: Spicy noodle with shrimp, Traditional Red Curry Chicken, and MayLika's Fiery with tofu and beef. All these dishes had wonderful flavors and they did not skimp on the protein. Last but not least we shared a dessert. The Dubai Dessert Palatha. I've never had anything like it. Love the palatha and ice cream combination. We have to have that ice cream. Note: the chicken in the Red curry was so tender and not dry (as chicken in curry's tend to be dry at times). The service was awesome. They kept our water cup filled. And we stayed to chat for a while after we ate and they didn't rush us out. read more

Workers were very kind and food came out super fast. I tried some of my friends Honey Walnut Shrimp and it was so good. However, I feel like my Lemongrass Chicken was somewhat bland, maybe needed more salt. Overall, not bad. read more
I'm surprised to know that after all these years of experiencing this place's food and service that I have not written a review for it. I have tried different entrees in their menu and i feel like the best ones are the coconut noodle soup and their red curry. I brought my wife here as I highly recommend it and she liked the coconut noodle soup herself! oh, and give the crispy pork belly a try! service is always great too! not too much of a wait time to get your food served! We had the dogs with us, so we needed a place with outdoor seating. The review is mainly for the extra effort that the staff made to accommodate all of us. They moved around the tables to make sure we were in the shade. The waiter even brought out a container of water for my dogs. He later brought out a extra container of water. I'm not sure if they go through this much effort for everyone, but I really appreciate the effort. The food was good also. I got the poutine off the specials. It was great read more

Overall I rounded up only due to the portion sizes. Came here for lunch on a Wednesday it wasn't crowded. We were sat on the patio which was pretty cute. Nice instagrammable area. Our server was attentive but didn't really offer any recommendations. I ordered the following items: crispy chicken (which I thought were going to be wings) they were strips. I rate them 3 out of 5. The strips were pretty hard and the chicken was dry. The sauce was delicious. Burmese Crispy Pork Belly- 5 out of 5. Really tasty, sauce was the perfect compliment and the pork was seasoned and really good. Shrimp noodles -3 out of 5, I'm not a fan of the flat egg noodles yet these were good when you covered them in the sauce. If you didn't have the sauce they were dry and sticky. (Running theme here is the sauce is FIRE) Crab fried rice with real crab meat 5 out of 5! This was my favorite it has been so long since I've had crab fried rice that you can actually see the crab meat! (No sauce needed for this one folks) Overall for the heft price tag of $100 (included tip) it's not a spot I'd frequent often. It was two people and while we ate this family style it would not be enough food for a third which is a bummer at that price point. Street parking, the bar next door has a parking lot but all the signs say "bar parking only" if you're in the area and want to try something new.. definitely give it a go. read more

Def an underwhelming experience. Maybe we just got the wrong dishes but I've had better Burmese food (Burma superstar and another spot in the east bay). I did enjoy the Burmese milk tea and palatha with chicken curry! The tea leaf salad didn't taste like there was any tea leaf at all the chicken biryani was spicy but no flavor or salt and the chicken lettuce wrap appetizer was okay. Service was pretty good tho considering how busy it was on a Monday evening. read more
Both the food and service were really good. When we arrived at about 7:15pm on a Saturday night, there were two people waiting for take out and the restaurant was packed. They cleared a table and sat us down which was the last available table. The lady waiting for take out recommended the Samosas, Sesame Chicken, and Mango Chicken. We started with the Samosas and a Tea Leaf Salad with both cabbage and lettuce. I loved the salad and my family enjoyed the samosas. For entrees, we had the Chicken Fried Rice, Mango Chicken mild, Spicy Noodles with the high spicy level, and the Burmese Beef with the high spicy level. The spicy noodles were a touch too spicy but we ate the whole dish because it was still very yummy. The Burmese Beef had a nice level of heat which we cut with the fried rice and sake. My son liked the Mango Chicken. The servers came to check on us a few times and cleared plates as we ate. The ambiance is casual but nice with white table cloths. They take reservations which is probably a good idea because every time we walked by, no matter what time, they looked busy. read more

Prompt service and friendly waitstaff are my initial impressions of this always busy restaurant in downtown Benicia. We ordered a bottle of Hugel Gewertztraminer for its light bodied drinkability and floral notes. I also ordered a strawberry puree cocktail called Love Bomb which was strawberry puree with prosecco and a side of sake - sweet like a dessert but still charming with the little dried flowers. For dinner we had the tea leaf salad and eggplant and both were great. I crave the tea leaf salad and look forward to visiting Benicia to get this dish. 130 lunch.Samosas were nicely spiced by the sauce with a dense potato filling. Palatha with the lamb curry dip. Tiny little chunks of lamb were sauced in a surprisingly light curry. Chicken Kebat was enjoyable but the medium level of spice not as spicy as anticipated. The crispy fried tofu salad with cabbage was finely chopped and a delicate series of small chunks of discovery. Willing to revisit--food was generally good but not as delightful as depicted on social media. One downer is they have one restroom for all. I lost 20 minutes to standing in line to use it--made a friend tho . Service is slow but good environment. Would return to try other menu options. read more
Aung MayLiKa is a great Burmese spot right in the heart of downtown Benicia. The food is packed with flavor, and if you go, don't skip the Tea Leaf Salad or the garlic noodles. The service was friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. Definitely a place I'd come back to when I'm craving Burmese comfort food and I'm in the North Bay. read more

Great lunch spot in Benicia with dog friendly seating outdoor. They had a lot of different options on their menu so lots of to choose from. I ended up getting a glass of white wine and the spicy noodles, which was delicious! You can also choose your spice level. Friendly service and food came out quick read more
