Every time I head home from Davis, I would spot this business and think I need to remember to try it next time I'm in the area. The day finally arrived when I remembered to stop here. I tried the following: Tea Leaf Salad, Burmese Chicken Curry Potatoes, and Coconut Chicken Noodle Soup, with a side order of Coconut Rice. I loved the salad, but the other dishes were average, not super flavorful, and won't be memorable to me. I will return for the Tea Leaf Salad. It's one of my most favorite things I've eaten.
Service was great, we were greeted and our waitress was attentive. We ordered the fiery tofu with vegetables and pineapple fried rice. Both were perfect, we can't recommend the fiery tofu enough! Great atmosphere too. We hope to come back and try other dishes.
We finally were able to try this Burmese restaurant in Davis. First I must say I was hesitant to go here as parking in central Davis can be bad, not here as there is a big free parking lot behind the restaurant. This restaurant is located next to Mikuni, it is not easily seen from the street but it is there. We arrived before the dinner rush and were immediately seated. There is a good sized indoor dining room, big windows with lots of light. There is also a large patio area with outside seating. The wait staff was attentive, fast and knowledgeable. We ordered the chicken curry and patha was delicious and a great start! The curry here is sweeter and has many tropical flavors. The lemongrass pork was savory and a little spicy. The pumpkin chicken stew was creamy and sweet. I look forward to trying more dishes.
The front of the restaurant is visible from the street but has plenty of parking in the back parking lot. We arrived just before the dinner rush so there were very few customers inside. The ambience is casual and airy, with tall ceilings and plenty of space to move between the tables. We were greeted and seated quickly by the very friendly hostess. She took her time to explain the menu and gave us time to make our selections. We ordered appetizers, Samusas and Platha with Coconut chicken curry dip. The Samusas were large and perfectly cooked with a crispy exterior and very well seasoned potato filling and were delicious. They came with a sauce that was similar to sweet chili sauce but with a little something extra. Really nice addition. The Platha is like a variation of naan. The chicken was tender and the coconut sauce was smooth and creamy and pared really well. I really could come here just to order this, by itself! For our main course, we ordered the Pumpkin Salmon Curry with Basmati rice and The Lemon and Paprika Lamb, both with a side of basmati rice. The Pumpkin Salmon curry was incredible! There was so much salmon and the curry was thick and creamy with a really complex flavor profile. The lamb was so incredibly tender, I could cut the pieces with a spoon. I ordered it max spicy level and was pleased to see that the heat level was exactly what I ordered but did not overpower the flavors of the dish. It pared extremely well with the basmati rice. For dessert, we tried the Shwe Gyi Sanwin Makin (yeah, its a mouthful), with mango ice cream. This is a semolina cake made with coconut milk. Imagine if cornbread and coconut flan had a love-child and this is probably what would result. It worked really well with the mango ice cream. Overall, an excellent experience! The portions are generous, the service is fast and friendly and the flavors are top-notch! This one goes to the top of my Davis favorites list!
All time favorite restaurant in Davis! So wish this place had existed when I was a student here... Sat at the bar since it was a busy Saturday night at the restaurant. Ordered Lemongraass chicken that had tender pieces of chicken with crisp peas pods and red bell pepper in addition to Burmese eggplant curry. We also had a bowl of coconut rice and brown rice. Can't wait to return again soon! Thank you for continuing to serve up top notch food and fabulous meals.

Order: Samusas Mango chicken x Jasmine rice Sesame chicken Nan Gyi Thok Dry chicken curry (or try with Swai) -- which I tried for the first time tonight. Coconut rice Everything comes out pretty fast. The Nan Gyi Thok I definitely recommend, it's my favorite on the menu. What a great experience. Met my sister here for dinner (one of her favorite spots, my first time) and we had an amazing meal. The ambiance is difficult to explain, but I'll try! It was fancy, trendy, calm but energizing, and comfortable. Staff were friendly and kept our waters full. Food came out very quick and everything was delicious. We tried quite a few items! Garlic noodles with pork, good but was not our favorite. Pad Thai with shrimp, good and a favorite for my sister, my fourth ranked item. Tea salad, this was amazing - the salad was a great start and likely would've also been a great end to your meal. I loved it and will get this again, but third on the list. Pineapple rice, this was delicious! Close to the tea salad but wins with this item pairing amazingly with my favorite dish we tried. Sesame chicken - this was super good. I wanted to take another to go, but can tell the crispy chicken would be better freshly fried. It's also worth coming back for. I'll be coming back, and also trying more of their menu. They've got a sesame beef that I definitely want to try next time also. Recommend.
tried the famous burmese tea leaf salad to-go and it was just okay. A lot of unique flavors but definitely not worth $20 for nuts and fermented tea leaf on lettuce. service was a little off putting but I didn't get a lot of time with the guy taking my order anyway. the ambiance is very nice and at a good location too.
Wonderful service. Our server was very attentive and amazing in general. Burmese Style Pad Thai w/ Shrimp - 8/10 Shrimp was beautifully cooked, the sauce coated the noodles very well, and the peanuts added a nice texture. The sauce seems to be tomato based. The cabbage was nicely cooked, soft with a nice crunch. The lemon wedge definitely elevated the dish. Wish there was more shrimp for the added $2 price.
You have to get the coconut rice! It's so addicting, I could probably just eat a bowl and be content. It's a nice flavor boost to pair with the curries and veggies. The table's group favorite was the Tea Leaf Salad and Chicken Curry. The Tea Leaf Salad was very refreshing since it was hot outside. The Chicken Curry was flavorful and cooked well.
For Our Eighth Anniversary, we headed to a garden nursery My Wife wanted to revisit. And while wandering down the Highway, we yelped to find a Burmese restaurant. With an excellent reviews from Yelp, we decided to try them out. Their food was excellent, the service from Dylan was even better!
My family and I came to My Burma after church for Father's Day lunch. When we walked in just before 12pm, there were no customers, so were greeted and seated right away. Our server promptly came over with the menus, take our drink orders and greeted me, "Happy Father's Day". Soon after our order was taken, the restaurant got busier and busier. They have a decent of amount of both indoor and outdoor seating. They were prepared and was staffed well. There was no hiccups in service and our food came out quickly. Food (5 stars): - Tea Leaf Salad: had lots of textures between the crunch of the salad, seeds, peanuts, crunchy garlic, etc. The fermented tea leaf dressing was delicious with a little saltiness, oils and maybe a hint of vinegar. - Mango Chicken: nice mango flavor with strips of mango. - Sesame Beef: good flavors, not overly salty or sweet like at other restaurants. - Burmese Eggplant Curry: thick and saucy, light curry flavor that is not overpowering, think cuts of eggplant, tasty over rice - Burmese Style Pad Thai: we got it with tofu, you can choose with chicken (+$1) or shrimp (+$2). Very similar to flavors to traditional Pad Thai at a Thai restaurant, maybe slightly drier. Service (5+ stars): I need to give our server (Heaven W.) props for excellent service! Not only did she come around frequently (even as the restaurant got busy) to check on us, she asked to refill our waters without us asking and even made an attempt for some small talk such as asking if were from Davis or out of town and asking what we were planning on doing after our meal. She did a great job serving all the other tables both inside and outside. It's been a while since I've encountered this level of service. Thank you Heaven W. for the "heavenly" service! If the owners are reading this review, she is a keeper! All the employees looked like they enjoy working there and working with each other. We will definitely return for more of their delicious food and hopefully more great service.
i was excited to try burmese food, and this restaurant in Davis is an elite spot overall you are greeted at reception by host, who will seat you / get your takeout. i ordered mango shrimps and mint chicken. both dishes were delicious and perfectly seasoned: flavors are present 100% this place represent burmese food very greatly, and makes you want to return, just for the great food, taste and flavors

Came to My Burma with my boyfriend and his family for an early lunch. We had our pups with us and we got to sit outside! Our waitress was very friendly and offered our dogs watered and after getting our food, came and checked up on us even though it started getting pretty busy and packed. We did family style and got a few things to try! 1. Salt and pepper calamari 2. Platha and coconut chicken curry dip 3. Garlic noodles with tofu 4. Combination fried rice 5. Burmese chicken curry potatoes 6. Burmese style pad thai with shrimp 7. Garlic and chili shrimp 8. Lemongrass salmon Everything was delicious! I would say the platha and coconut chicken curry dip, Burmese chicken curry potatoes, and the Burmese style pad Thai with shrimp were my favorite out of the bunch. I would come back again if I'm in Davis! read more

What a wonderful restaurant. My only other experience with Thai food was at a Burmese restaurant in Boise, so I was pleased to find this delightful place while traveling through Davis. We had Fiery Tofu with Chicken, Tea Leaf Salad, Burmese Style Pad Thai, and Coconut Rice. It was a terrific blend of tastes, textures, and aromas. The salad was tossed table-side by a very helpful server. We ate indoors but they had outdoor dining as well. I have become a big fan of this food (yes, I'm pretty late to the party) and My Burma is a great place to enjoy a meal with friends. read more

Our son asked for a recommendation for a restaurant in Davis. Without hesitation, my husband and I both said "My Burma". It's absolutely amazing. I don't remember how we stumbled upon this restaurant, but we loved it right away. We had samusas, tea salad and sesame chicken. I don't think we would be able to pick a favorite item. Maybe the salad because it is so unique. The only other time we have had Burmese food was at Burma Superstar. We would not hesitate to eat here again. In fact, I'm dreaming about our next visit. We loved the cute interior, excellent service and delicious food. Easily one of the best restaurants in Davis. read more

Catered lunch for the office. Trays of salad, tofu lettuce wraps, samosas, and pre-packed containers of rice and either mango chicken, garlic chili shrimp, veggie curry or lemon paprika beef entrees. Everything was great! I tried the lettuce wraps, salad, samosa, and the mango chicken rice plate. The portions were hearty and not too spicy. It was so good, given the opportunity, I took a container to go for dinner too. Next time I'm in Davis I'll try to check it out in person, until then I hope My Burma stays on the lunch rotation. read more
My friends and I wanted to meet for lunch and try something new! We both wanted to try this place and it did not disappoint! The flavors of all the dishes were delicious! We ordered like 6-7 dishes to share between the 4 of us and had left overs. The tea leaf salad wasn't as tasty as other places I've tried but still good. My favorite was the garlic basil eggplant! It was so flavorful! I would recommend this place if you like bold and spicy flavors! We want to come back and try some other dishes next time! read more

Solid service. We came here for lunch and got seated right away. We ordered the orange chicken and mango chicken. Both were so yummy. The mango chicken was definitely something new, we enjoyed the fresh mango. The orange chicken was tasty as well. The white wine and mint mojito were a great pairing. The sweet sticky rice is a must try. Ambiance is lively and welcoming. Great dining experience. read more

I had a little dinner with friends at My Burma for the first time this week. The wait wasn't too long for a table outside and it felt much less colder out there than inside the restaurant. We were seated in the corner, which was nice at first. However, we quickly found out that the outside exit gate was right next to our table when another group was trying to leave. It was a bit awkward and confusing seeing people walk around our table to push on different areas of the gates surrounding the restaurant. There were also no lights outside where we sat, so it got pretty dark during our dinner. I was excited to try Burmese food for the first time and got the Mango Chicken. I thought it tasted great and had a nice subtle kick of spice to it. But my friend, who ordered the same thing, said it tasted bland. We did agree that for $19, it should've came with rice. This was also the first time I had a lavender martini that wasn't purple, which was interesting. Tasted great but would've been better without like half of it being crushed ice. My friend who ordered the caviar butter fried rice thought it was good too, but it began to taste too rich and buttery after a while. It also does not have real caviar! Instead of caviar (sturgeon eggs), they use what appears to be masago or tobiko (the tiny orange eggs), so that was a bit misleading. The pumpkin curry, however, tasted great and had no complaints at all! Other than that, the staff were all very kind and wait for food was not long. read more
After spending time in Myanmar, I am always excited to find Burmese food in the states. When I see tea leaf salad, I have to try it. This place did not let me down. The salad was everything I wanted it to be. The samusas were delightful. Crispy, and very flavorful. The dry curry chicken came highly recommended by the waiter, and it was good, but it wasn't something I would come back for. We came for lunch, sat outside, the patio is really nice. They were pretty busy and slightly short staffed, but what they lacked in resource, they made up for in personality. Our waiter was really kind and helpful. He forgot to ring a dish in, but once he realized it, he got it out quickly and was great about the whole thing. I would definitely go here and get that tea leaf salad all over again. read more

I've always had a good experience here. Solid food and a decent price. Service is always professional and friendly. Clean modern restaurant. The Dry Curry Swai is the must have item for me. The other items are good too but that's the dish that is most unique for me. read more
This is one of very few restaurants in Davis that has truly great food. We had previously mostly gotten our orders to go, but we dined in for the first time recently, and the staff was really nice The tea leaf salad is great and all the vegetarian curries are awesome. I have nothing but good things to say about this place and I hope it stays in business because Davis needs My Burma's good food. read more

Delicious Burmese cuisine in downtown Davis! Easy to find parking in the lot during the weekday. Just a short walk from the parking area to the restaurant. I've dined in twice for dinner with my fiance. Both times, the service has been friendly and prompt. It can get a little loud inside once the dinner rush hits and there's a ton of people, but it's not too bad. Clean bathroom in the back as well. This review covers what we ordered in our 2nd visit. * Burmese iced milk tea - refreshing and just the right amount of sweet. The sweetness didn't overpower the tea flavor. Just be careful though if you're sensitive to caffeine! It might be a little harder to fall asleep if you drink this with your dinner. * Tea leaf salad - light, flavorful, crunchy, refreshing, and large portion! We split most of it between us. * Chef special dry curry swai - I loved this! Yellow curry flavored battered and fried swai (or basa, if you know it by that name instead) with mixed vegetables. I would say it was mildly spicy. Although it says "dry" it was like a curry with most of the sauce removed. So it was still a little saucey and not completely dry. Big portion too so I took about half of it home. Reheated well for lunch the next day. * Lemongrass pork - tasted pretty good and the pork was tender, but both of us didn't really taste the lemongrass in this dish. Also took this home since it was a big portion. * Burmese fried rice - big portion and we took some home too. I liked the added crunchy texture from the chickpeas. A little oily for me, but not too bad that it was off putting. Overall, a solid dinner spot that I see myself going to again and again. My husband and I came here for dinner tonight and loved it! It was very busy with several people waiting for tables when we arrived. However, there were seats available at the bar so we sat there where we had a good view of the hard-working cooks.. We were greeted immediately with filled water glasses by a very friendly and attentive server! She impressed us the entire evening with her positive demeanor. She gave us the low-down on Burmese food in general and offered some suggestions on what to order. My husband and I started with Lettuce Wraps with tofu and ended up also sharing Burmese Style Pad Thai with shrimp and Burmese Pineapple Fried Rice. Everything came out quickly and all was fresh and hot. Our favorite of the three was the pineapple fried rice followed by the pad thai. The lettuce wraps were tasty but we have had better ones elsewhere. Overall, we had a great evening and plan to come back the next time we are in Davis! read more
Ambiance: A modern and bright Burmese restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating Service: the service was a bit slow. However the servers were friendly and visited us often with water refills. Food came out fast as well Food: We got the mango chicken, wok stirred spicy noodles, and Burmese beef curry with potatoes. The mango chicken was bright and sweet. The noodles had a nice kick and well assembled vegetables to compliment the flavor. The beef was a bit tough but had good flavor and the potatoes were cooked perfectly. read more

The curries don't have fish sauce, but it's always good to ask just to be sure! We've all been fooled before! 4. This place gets busy. Be prepared to wait 20-30 minutes for indoor seating. If you don't mind outdoor seating, they have portable heat lamps to keep you cozy in the colder nights. Lettuce Wrap (Grade C, $12.50) - you can choose tofu, chicken, or shrimp for $2 more. These were disappointingly bland, with a lack of seasoning. Even the lettuce leaves fail to impress - I'll keep going to PF Chang's to get my lettuce wrap fix. Tea Leaf Salad (Grade A, $16.95) - This is the best dish on the menu. It bursts with bold, vibrant flavors, featuring a tangy fermented tea leaf dressing that ties together the crisp lettuce or cabbage, juicy tomato, and zesty jalapeños. Crunchy toppings like peanuts, fried garlic, sunflower seeds, and chickpeas add texture, while sesame seeds and a squeeze of fresh lemon complete this irresistible dish. Pumpkin Curry with Vegetables (Grade C, $16.50) - This falls flat, with a muted sweetness and lack of seasoning that leaves the flavors feeling one-dimensional. Despite the variety of vegetables, the dish lacks the depth and richness typically expected from a curry. I guess I just prefer Thai Curries much more. Samusas (Grade B, $12.50) These are decent. The crispy exterior was much-appreciated. The curried potatoes were mildly spiced. While the house vegetarian sauce adds a nice touch, the overall flavor feels a bit underwhelming. Desserts / ordered the fried banana with vanilla ice cream and black sticky rice with mango ice cream. Once again, I didn't read the full description of the sticky rice. I automatically assumed it was fresh mangoes like you find a Thai restaurants. The dish was good, but it doesn't come close to having the fresh mango slices. I did enjoy the black sticky rice - it was hot and steamy. Of the two, I really preferred the fried banana with vanilla ice cream. Texture and flavor a la mode! I recommend this dish. Bottom line - come here for the tea leaf salad and the friendly staff. Memo to management - Heaven is the absolute best. Even though she was handling 12 tables, she made it a point to make it feel like our table of 4 were the only ones there. Thanks Heaven! read more

My Burma is one of my go to spots in Davis! Great food, service, and ambiance! I've tried a variety of their dishes in the past and recommend the tea leaf salad, any of their curries, and their preparations for chicken or veggies (the fiery tofu/chicken and the black pepper tofu/chicken are the ones I tend to t. Only aspect to be aware of is the acoustics on the inside (inside seating) make it harder to have conversations when the place is full (which is pretty often). You can compensate by speaking louder, or just get some of their outdoor seating, which is lovely! read more
