stopped by for a quick dinner before seeing the odyssey in imax 70mm at the theatre nearby! excellent selection of burmese dishes to choose from (so much in fact, that we experienced a bit of choice overload LOL) the service was also extremely fast which we appreciated. the tea leaf salad was more limey than i've had at other establishments, but it was still delightful to pair with the curry and noodles. we were blown away by how tender and juicy the chicken was, wow. the noodles had the perfect Q as well. and i love curry. This was my third time dining at Burma Burma, and they continue to impress every time. We decided to try a couple of new dishes this time, a fish dish and a beef dish with sauces I hadn't tried here before. Both were delicious and a nice change from some of our usual favorites. The tea leaf salad was definitely the star of the meal. It was so fresh and light, and the flavors paired really well with the heavier main dishes. I also really appreciate that they ask how spicy you want your food. That's such a nice touch, especially when you don't necessarily want your meal to come out at the standard spice level. The jasmine rice was fluffy and made a great complement to the main dishes. Everything came out hot and surprisingly quickly, even though the restaurant was busy. The staff is always super friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. A pretty good Burmese place! My only complaint too much soy and fish sauce in "lemongrass chicken"! We have went there as a family, there were four of us! The okra and egg curry was very good, there were two eggs each halved and okras. I like okra, if I have to be bit critique, I would say some pieces of okras are bit dry!! Now the lemongrass chicken was very good but the only problem is the amount of soy and fish sauce there! It's drenched! The other dishes are very good as well! The rice pudding with "mango" ice cream was delicious. The reason the "mango" was in quotes as it was not mango. A peach maybe, but definitely not mango! Chicken, beef, and lamb are halal here, which is great for those with dietary restrictions. I ordered the basil chili beef, which was extremely tender and flavorful. I was surprised to see how quickly the food is served, my plate of steaming hot and fresh food was on my plate within 10 minutes of the order. The parking is a little bit tight in the parking lot, and the service was relatively fast and easy. Overall, I would recommend the basil chili beef, and I also tried what others on my table had ordered and their food was also delicious. Tried the tea leaf salad and Burmese lamb curry. The tea leaf salad was unique and tasted pretty good, but $18 felt expensive for what it was. The lamb curry had a surprisingly generous amount of meat, probably around 15 pieces, so the portion was good for $23. The lamb was tender, but it didn't have much flavor inside and had a slightly powdery texture. The potatoes were also not fully soft. It felt like the lamb, potatoes, and curry sauce were prepared separately instead of being slowly cooked together. Overall, the food was interesting and portions were decent, but the cooking was inconsistent. I'm glad I tried it, but I don't think it fully justified the price. 3 stars. read more

Never have to wave someone down to ask for anything. They are very attentive. Now the food, AMAZING! Tea Leaf Salad: Light to my stomach, but so much flavor with the tea leaves and the crunch of the nuts Moh-Hin-Gha (pureed catfish chowder): We love this one! The chunks of fish with the soft noodles. Yum. I just wish it came with more. Sesame Chicken: My friend gets this each time. He likes it a lot. I think it is okayyy. A bit too sweet for me. We did not get it this time, but I prefer the burmese style chicken curry. Put this over rice, and bomb! Burme String Beans: Lovely crunch with enough garlic and soy sauce. Came here on Super Bowl Sunday for dinner at 6:30pm with my bestie. There were plenty of tables. We stayed there until they close at 9pm and they were about 1/3-1/2 full. Came here to meet up with a friend and her family and we had 4 babies/young toddlers. The food was great and I really liked how they had notations on what could be made vegan and vegetarian. The waitress was really helpful and they even gave really cute vehicle plastic plates for the kids. We all enjoyed ourselves very much. Parking is free out front. We tried the tea leaf salad which comes mixed already and was tasty, less tea than I've had before. I also go the yellow tofu which didn't seem completely chickpea. Enjoyed a casual Friday lunch with my brother here. He's just moved into the area and we're exploring local restaurants. Pretty crowded at lunchtime so parking can be a bit tricky. We ordered Nan gyi dok, black pepper beef, the village catfish, Burmese iced tea and rice. My favorite item was the black pepper beef. The sauce for the catfish was very well done but the bones made it hard to eat, and the serving size was a bit skimpy. We bravely tried a new dish for us today: Spicy Mint and Jalapeño Chicken. It was delicious! The reason I said "bravely" is because we have our standard order that we just LOVE, and are a bit afraid that something else wouldn't be quite as good. Our standard order for the two of us is their Tea Leaf Salad (made with cabbage), Basil & Dried Chili Beef (made spicy), and Coconut Rice. There is enough to take home for another slightly smaller meal for the two of us. We have had Helen as our server for our last couple of visits, and she is fantastic! She is very friendly, efficient, and even boxes up our leftovers for us. It was her recommendation to try the Spicy Mint & Jalapeno Chicken after she discovered our appreciation for spicy food. We meet up with my wife's cousins and they introduced us to Burma Burma. Decent amount of parking in this strip mall. Ambience: A good sized restaurant able to accommodate a few large groups. Nicely decorated and modern furnishings. Food: Tea Leaf Salad: A mix of fermented tea leaves tossed with fried garlic, yellow beans, peanuts, Sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, tomatoes, jalapenos, lemon and your choice of greens (3.5/5). We went with the romaine lettuce. I was surprised when it arrived, it was already mixed together. I've been to other restaurants where it comes united, and they mix it tableside or they serve it at the table or you mix it yourself. This salad, I missed the different level of textures and crunchiness that others have, but still was tasty. Black Pepper Sauce with Beef: Marinated beef with onions, red and green bell peppers, celery, carrots, ginger, garlic, scallions, white wine, black bean sauce, soy sauce, black and white pepper (4/5). They offer a level of spiciness on this dish. We went with mild. The sauce was pretty good. Some of the beef slices were tender and some were a little chewy. Overall, a good dish. Sesame Chicken: Hand-cut strips of chicken lightly fried in soy sauce, vinegar, honey topped with sesame seeds (4/5). The fry on the chicken pieces had a nice crunch to it coupled with the sweet flavorful sauce. This is a kid friendly dish! Haha and my favorite out of all the dishes were ordered. Burmese Pad Thai with Chicken: Thin-flat rice noodles tossed in wok with red bell pepper, onions, scallions, beansprouts, egg, paprika, turmeric, fish sauce and topped with peanut and cabbage (3.5/5). They also offer a level of spiciness on this dish also. We got it not spicy as two in our party cannot eat spicy. Service: Our waiter was friendly, patient, & attentive. We came in with a reservation this time but we came relatively early prior to the lunch rush. The place was already well staffed to handle the opening preparations and early diners. Once we were seated, we perused the menu and gave our recommendations to our guests and also asked for more tasty favorites from the staff. Our server had a personal favorite and we ended up getting that too. Again, we made sure to order everything without spice to accommodate the kids. Samosa - 4 pieces per order but additional pieces can be added on for additional cost. These decently sized vegan finger snacks are packed with potatoes, onions, and spices. They taste phenomenal with the spicy dipping sauce and the crispiness makes them fun poppers to crunch into before digging into the main dishes. Tea leaf salad - as good as ever! Crunchy peanuts and mung beans give great texture and bursts of flavor with every bite. Loaded with veggies, this is a healthy one! Basil chili beef - tender slices of marinated beef sautéed with sweet onions. Delicious by itself but elevated when paired with a side of coconut rice. Mango shrimp - tangy coat of mango sauce smothering large pieces of shrimp with strings of mango makes this dish a pleasant one to eat and it's very kid friendly. The colors are vibrant and again, pairs extremely well with a side of rice. Lemongrass chicken - delicious and generous portion of chicken but I wish there was more lemongrass flavor infused into this dish. Coconut rice - the foundation for enjoying all their dishes! The slight sweetness of the rice allows the other flavors shine. The service was just as great as last time - it seems to be a constant. Despite the peak lunch rush towards the end of our meal, the team was still very hospitable. They offered to pack our food and bag it up as we were preparing to leave. Overall, Burma Burma should be a legitimate consideration for all folks who are looking for a relatively healthy meal with a complex mix of flavors, ingredients, and textures. The staff are well trained and will provide a pleasant dining experience regardless of the time of day. The price point is fair for the quality and portion of food. For those of us in the east bay, it may be a bit of a drive out but if you're coming in between your trip to the Livermore outlets or other errands in the Dublin/Pleasanton area, this is an easy stop and definitely worth it! The tea leaf salad was just ok for me. I've had better elsewhere. If you've never had it before, then it's always good but it didn't stand out compared to others I've had. I felt the same with the eggplant & garlic dish. The Burmese garlic noodles with duck was disappointing. You can really taste the spices and freshness in everything. One thing that keeps us coming back is how kid-friendly they are. The staff is always so kind and accommodating to our little ones. They go out of their way to bring a cute plate and a cup with a straw for the kids, which makes them feel so special and taken care of. It's such a small detail, but it means so much as a parent. The food was all shareable family style which allowed us to try many items. The tea leaf salad was a standout for me - not too oily/salty as some other places with a light citrus freshness to it. The tofu curry in red tomato base was okay (not much to my taste) however others in our group enjoyed it. The pineapple rice was good and noodles were okay. I came here for a dinner night with my sister. We were seated fairly quickly with reservations but it does get crazy on the weekends, come early to secure parking. Naturally, we like to do everything family style so we ordered a few dishes and had a little bit of everything. We ordered paratha, tea, leaf salad, basil chicken, coconut rice, and noodles. Update from my last review... Dined in for party of 4 at Burma Burma this past weekend. Cindy was our waitress, she is a long time staff member and was very knowledgeable. We asked her so many questions, she calmly and patiently answered them all! My family doesn't eat beef or pork, my mom doesn't eat eggs, I'm gluten free. Cindy clarified that the samosas are not fried in oil that is shared with meat items, she was hyper aware of cross contamination issues, and tended to us all til very end of our meal. I typically order to go, sometimes there are issues with takeout, but the dine in experience is great! Definitely returning and would definitely recommend.
