Garlic Shrimp and Eggplant

This is my second time trying Burmese cuisine. My cousin made reservations here for our family to gather and eat. I am from Southern California, and had really enjoyed my first time eating Burmese food in Orange County, so I was looking forward to trying the Burmese food in Northern California. We had to of course, order the tea, leaf salad, because that's a staple. The restaurant was spaced out well, good lighting and decor. The food was flavorful and tasty. Although I prefer the Burmese restaurant that I ate at in Orange County, I would surely come eat here again the next time I'm in the Bay Area.

Burma burma is your neighborhood friendly Burmese go to. The prices in this economy are still decent. We went as a group of 3 and our bill was around $100. 10/10 recommend the dishes below 1. Tea leaf salad 2. Basil and dried chilli beef 3. Coconut rice Service is freaky fast Tea leaf salad and samosa were on our table in less than 3 mins after ordering. If you live in east Bay, make this your staple and go to.

We came here without reservations on a Monday night to celebrate my daughter and my birthdays and the space is spacious and friendly, good for big parties. We had a party of six and we ordered food to share which included tea leaf salad, samosas, curry chicken, fried rice, salt and pepper fried shrimp, garlic noodles, palapala, Burma Burma noodles. The food was tasty and I enjoyed the salt and pepper fried shrimp and tea leaf salad the most. The most delightful was the sparkling candles on the birthday mango desserts we were given for my daughter and my birthdays, what a yummy treat!

We walked in Sunday around 1pm. It wasn't that busy and we were seated right away. We ordered the Nan gyi dok and mohinga. Both weren't bad. The Nan gyi dok was creamier than normal. Wished there's more fish pieces and broth was thicker. Service was quick. Wished Burmese food wasn't expensive here since these are considered cheap dishes in Burma. So lame. Parking lot shared with other businesses.

This was my third time dining at Burma Burma, and they continue to impress every time. We decided to try a couple of new dishes this time, a fish dish and a beef dish with sauces I hadn't tried here before. Both were delicious and a nice change from some of our usual favorites. The tea leaf salad was definitely the star of the meal. It was so fresh and light, and the flavors paired really well with the heavier main dishes. I also really appreciate that they ask how spicy you want your food. That's such a nice touch, especially when you don't necessarily want your meal to come out at the standard spice level. The jasmine rice was fluffy and made a great complement to the main dishes. Everything came out hot and surprisingly quickly, even though the restaurant was busy. The staff is always super friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. They do tend to get busy, so I definitely recommend making a reservation if you're planning to dine here.

A pretty good Burmese place! My only complaint too much soy and fish sauce in "lemongrass chicken"! We have went there as a family, there were four of us! The okra and egg curry was very good, there were two eggs each halved and okras. I like okra, if I have to be bit critique, I would say some pieces of okras are bit dry!! Now the lemongrass chicken was very good but the only problem is the amount of soy and fish sauce there! It's drenched! The other dishes are very good as well! The rice pudding with "mango" ice cream was delicious. The reason the "mango" was in quotes as it was not mango. A peach maybe, but definitely not mango! Overall pretty good, I like Burmese food in general! Will visit again!

I will say in like the food- the staff is nice and this place is busy- I can see why- they are efficient and friendly .. the tea leaf salad. Samosa - lemongrass chicken and the tea... happy happy birthday to me.. it's in a strip mall. Plenty of parking and we sat in a booth - comfortable for me . There are plenty of tables and they will put them together for big parties - there were a few there that night .. I will be back

stopped by for a quick dinner before seeing the odyssey in imax 70mm at the theatre nearby! excellent selection of burmese dishes to choose from (so much in fact, that we experienced a bit of choice overload LOL) the service was also extremely fast which we appreciated. the tea leaf salad was more limey than i've had at other establishments, but it was still delightful to pair with the curry and noodles. we were blown away by how tender and juicy the chicken was, wow. the noodles had the perfect Q as well. and i love curry. 'nuff said. if i'm in dublin again another time, i'll definitely be back to tackle more of this extensive menu!

Best Burmese food in town and always reliable whether dining or to go. Recently had the tea leaf salad and the super yummy basil and dried chilli lamb and thoroughly enjoyed it. Cheers for many more orders!

Basil Chili Beef

Chicken, beef, and lamb are halal here, which is great for those with dietary restrictions. I ordered the basil chili beef, which was extremely tender and flavorful. I was surprised to see how quickly the food is served, my plate of steaming hot and fresh food was on my plate within 10 minutes of the order. The parking is a little bit tight in the parking lot, and the service was relatively fast and easy. Overall, I would recommend the basil chili beef, and I also tried what others on my table had ordered and their food was also delicious. They ordered the chicken pad Thai, the lamb curry, and the palata appetizer and you can't go wrong with either of those either. Check this place out for yourself!

Burmese Style Lamb Curry
Levin Z.

Tried the tea leaf salad and Burmese lamb curry. The tea leaf salad was unique and tasted pretty good, but $18 felt expensive for what it was. The lamb curry had a surprisingly generous amount of meat, probably around 15 pieces, so the portion was good for $23. The lamb was tender, but it didn't have much flavor inside and had a slightly powdery texture. The potatoes were also not fully soft. It felt like the lamb, potatoes, and curry sauce were prepared separately instead of being slowly cooked together. Overall, the food was interesting and portions were decent, but the cooking was inconsistent. I'm glad I tried it, but I don't think it fully justified the price. 3 stars.

Moh-Hin-Gha (Pureed Catfish Chowder) - I LOVE THIS!

I've been here several times throughout the years. I am surprised I never reviewed it yet! A group of us came for lunch on Saturday to celebrate my birthday! The service is always super pleasant. Staff very friendly. Food comes out very quickly each time! Granted, there was not as many parties when we came right at 11am. But even the other times when I come for dinner, I never feel like I am waiting forever for our food. There is a server walking around refilling our waters constantly! Never have to wave someone down to ask for anything. They are very attentive. Now the food, AMAZING! Tea Leaf Salad: Light to my stomach, but so much flavor with the tea leaves and the crunch of the nuts Moh-Hin-Gha (pureed catfish chowder): We love this one! The chunks of fish with the soft noodles. Yum. I just wish it came with more. Sesame Chicken: My friend gets this each time. He likes it a lot. I think it is okayyy. A bit too sweet for me. We did not get it this time, but I prefer the burmese style chicken curry. Put this over rice, and bomb! Burme String Beans: Lovely crunch with enough garlic and soy sauce. Black pepper Beef: Love all the black pepper to this. Nice and saucy and had good beef to veggie ratio. Burmese Garlic Noodles with duck: You gotta get it with the duck. The duck here taste delightful! Dessert: They gave me mango ice cream with a huge flare and had the entire restaurant singing happy birthday to me. We also got the Burmese Semolina Cake which had that nice rich coconut flavor. Moist and yummy. With some ice cream with it. Perfect!!!

Tea leaves salad is special, but the rest of dishes is just OK. Heavy seasoning to cover baking soda ''tenderized" meats. Services are fine.

Ask the Community - Burma Burma

Does the pet allow for the outdoor area?

I don't think they allow pets.

What Vegan options are there?

most of their dishes don't use dairy products and animal products, however please call them to check ahead. We are strict vegetarians and we never had any issues with animal products, just remind them multiple times about eggs and what you cannot…

Are all meat dishes halal?

Our beef, lamb, and chicken is halal.

Is outdoor seating still available?

They have outdoor patio but it's not always set up or in use

My friend does not enjoy spicy food. Do you have a good selection of dishes without a lot of chili that will be ok for her?

Most of our items you choose the spice level you want if there is any spice in the dish.

Is the meat still halal? No signs on menu or windows?

Yes the meat is still Halal and it is posted on our website menu and takeout menus togo, as well as when you dine in.

Is the shrimp fried rice sweet?

Sweet only with the shrimp, no sugars added

How is it halal when you still serve pork?

I'm not Islamic so I can't speak to the label as it relates to being served in the same proximity of pork products but my understanding of the "Halal" certification is specific to the type of meat it is, and the method of slaughter.…

Is the food served here halal?

Yes. All beef, lamb and chicken items halal

I'd like to try the garlic noodle. Would I be able to order it during lunch time?

I think so! if you go to the YELP page, there is take out function to pre-order. Very pack during lunch time, come early or make reservation.

Are you and Burma Burma in san Ramon sister restaurants?

I do not know of a Burma Burma restaurant actually in the city of San Ramon. This restaurant is in Dublin, but on San Ramon Road - maybe that is confusing the issue?

Is there a free parking lot? Thankyou!

Yes, there is.

Is it safe to eat here when you have peanut and shrimp allergies?

Hi Alisa L ,This is Steven from Burma Burma, I would like to answer your question now. Yes, it is safe...you just let us know about your allergy food when you order. Then we can do everything for you.

Are there options that are vegan/vegetarian friendly without fish sauce/chicken broth?

Yes! They have a vegetarian menu and my favorite tea leaf salad can be made vegan- just let the person taking your order know.

The restaurant is located within Downtown Pleansaton, which had a decent amount of free parking that was walking distance from the restaurant. We especially liked the Tea Leaf salad, which was unlike anything we had tried before. Everything also felt reasonable priced from what I could recall as well, and there were a lot of other decent options on the menu that I'd be willing to try at a later time. Overall a pleasant experience, especially since it was our first time trying Burmese food. I'd be more than happy to return again.

The chicken could have been more flavorful (e.g. marinated in curry longer or different cut of chicken to soak up the soup better). Chicken Satay (11.99) the flavor is there but not traditional, over the charcoal taste but that's hard to find in the U.S. It's a very large portion of chicken so makes up for the price. The staff were SO nice and offered to set up a table for us in their back room. They were so kind and accomodating, which we were grateful for because we were starving and the food looked delicious! We ordered a tea leaf salad, Burmese shrimp and beef, and the Nan Gyi Thoke noodles. The food arrived soon after ordering and we were treated to a proper Burmese feast! I loved the crunchy textures of the tea leaf salad, and the shrimp and beef were deliciously spicy. The noodles were also great - the boiled egg was cooked perfectly.
