Came on a Saturday night with a party of 3 around 6pm. We waited 5-10 minutes or so. Service was good and we got all of our food within 10 minutes! The food itself was good, but could be better. I'd want to try other dishes when I return. The palata was a 5/5 - it was on the thicker side so it had a bit of a chew to it plus the curry sauce it came with had a good amount of chicken in it. As for the other dishes: Tea leaf salad: (4/5) came out mixed already, which made it easy to eat. There was a good mixture of salty, tangy, spicy, and a little bit sweet from the tomato. The peanuts gave a good crunch and nuttiness. Burmese Chicken Curry: (4/5) very tender pieces of chicken thigh. You could separate it with a fork. The curry was good as well. Wish it was a tad more flavorful. Garlic noodle: (3.5/5) after mixing the sauce, it did get a little bit soggy. By itself, the dish didn't feel complete especially as the pork is very thinly sliced pieces. The overall dish wasn't very garlicky as well. When I used to live in Dublin, Burma Burma was a regular spot for me to grab dinner to-go, or even take friends out who are visiting the area, but I haven't been going since leaving the Tri-Valley. But, over the weekend, I had the opportunity to visit again after 2 years. I kept hyping it up to my boyfriend, and luckily, it tasted just as good as I remembered and it lived up to his expectations! We dined on a Saturday evening where they had live music! It was packed, but it wasn't a crazy wait as we were seated immediately. I think we came at just the right time! The energy was vibrant, but not too loud, and doesn't take away from the dining experience. I was still able to speak to my boyfriend and hear the waiter so that is a huge plus! The service was great; they checked up on us pretty often! For starters, we ordered the Palata with Coconut Chicken Curry and the Tea Leaf Salad. The Palata had the right level of crispiness and flakiness, and the dipping curry sauce was amazing! Burma Burma's tea leaf salad is probably the best tea leaf salad in the Bay Area. I tried other tea leaf salads all over the bay, but nothing can compete this one. For our main, we got the pad thai and the mango chicken. The pad thai is similar to your typical Thai, Pad Thai, but it has a sweeter taste to it, which I actually really liked. The winner of the night was the mango chicken for me, with a mild kick. I love that combination of sweet and spice. It wasn't too sweet and too spicy--everything was at the right level. My boyfriend enjoyed it so much that he said, "everything is putting a smile to my face," and he "won't stop thinking about this food for awhile." We thought arriving at 7:15 was early, but the place was already packed. We were quoted a 20-30 minute wait, but to our surprise, we were seated in less than 10 minutes! The restaurant was clean, the ambiance was inviting, and everything ran smoothly. Service was efficient--our order was taken quickly, and the food arrived soon after. We started with the Palata with coconut chicken curry as an appetizer--flaky, rich, and packed with flavor. For mains, we had the Burmese Garlic Noodles, chicken & tofu, along with brown rice and coconut rice on the side. Every bite was incredible! It's been ages since my last visit, lastly I have been craving for anything curry. So this place came up. Anytime at a Burmese restaurant Tea leave Salad is a must so this is an automatic. Next is finding a curry dish among the many dishes, dry or not; vegetable only, meat only, or combination of the two. I had asked the wait person on the difference between the dry curry and non dry curry then quickly ordered the Burmese style curry chicken without exploring other options. The food came quickly. First the tea leave salad and shortly afterwards the chicken curry. The TEs leave with the abundance of peanuts and assorted shredded cabbage and tea leaves was alright. Although I had an expectation for the curry chicken, little did I know the curry wasn't as intensive as other ethnic curries or thickness of the sauce/gravy that accompany the dish. I believe I made a bad choice. As specified it was mildly spiced and as such it was on the blander side of the scale and lighter. This dish had chicken and potato pieces. The initial bites were nice and soon became less interesting. So on my next visit I would hopefully pick a more complex curry dish. The service was attentive and cordial. read more

7.15.2024 - Post Pilates Dinner I never get sick of their tea leaf salad and their garlic chili eggplant. The most fragrant and flavorful tea leaf salad always gets me excited. It's healthy, it's tasty and I'm always in the mood for it. Something about getting their eggplant extra, extra spicy with no sugar with a chopstick full of rice gets me feeling warm and fuzzy. It's like my comfort food. I've tried this dish with and without meat, and I'd have to say, it's delicious all on its own. No protein needed. It's a great place if you're craving Burmese food. I've been here multiple times, and this place is consistent with each time. They are located in a plaza with a huge parking lot. You won't have trouble finding parking. Tea leaf salad is a must-order, but they no longer mix it at the table. The last few times I went, they brought out the salad premixed. I've tried their jalapeno chicken and basil and chili sauce beef. Both dishes are flavorful. The basil and chili sauce beef tastes like Mongolian beef. WOW! A huge new fan of this place. Tucked in an unobtrusive shopping center in Dublin. This place was hoping on a Sunday afternoon in between services for dine in and take out. Gluten free. $15 Samosa soup - had pieces of samosa and falafel, potatoes, chickpeas, red onions, paprika, cabbage, bay leaf, tamarind, Marsala, tumeric, dried chili. $13 Burmese Pad Thai- this to me tastes like a regular thai pad Thai! Has the rice noodles, red bell peppers, cabbage, onion, egg, peanuts, tamarind, sprouts, paprika, fish sauce, tofu and we added shrimp for the protein. $17 Black pepper shrimp- this has red and green bell peppers, onions, carrots, ginger, garlic, scallions, black bean sauce, black and white pepper, soy sauce and white wine. Turns out they never put in the ticket for our order and so we had to wait another 15 minutes for it to be made. This is the second time I'm eating at this restaurant. The first time was for lunch. It was on a week day and wasn't very busy. This time, I'm here for dinner on a Saturday night. It was busy, but we were seated in a booth a little after we walked in. There are the normal table and chairs setup, too. However, both times we were given a booth. I had the tea leaf salad the first time and couldn't wait to reorder it for dinner. As expected, it remains my top dish at the restaurant. It is a crunchy salad as it has nuts in the salad. The salad dressing has a unique flavor and is delicious. I really like their palata which is a flaky layered flat bread. It is thicker and chewy, not like the paper-thin ones served at many other restaurants. We choose the coconut chicken curry (very tender) which comes with the bread. The other choices were vegetarian or lamb curry. I wasn't impressed with their pineapple fried rice. The pineapples were set aside from the fried rice, and the rice was so so. Their nan gyi dok noodle dish didn't look appetizing and didn't taste that great. Our Burmese style chicken curry was tender and delicious. Surprisingly, it didn't taste the same as the coconut chicken curry which came with our palata. Our last dish was a beef tofu dish. I liked the dish except for the tofu. It had the texture of a Japanese fish cake which I don't like. Overall, the service was good. All of the food was served in a timely fashion. They refilled our water cups without our having to ask them to. Payment was done at the table and went smoothly. Both times (day time and night time) we came to this restaurant, we were able to find a parking space without any issues. I would definitely return to this restaurant, order my tea leaf salad and palata with coconut chicken curry, and then try some of their other dishes. read more
