The service is fast and friendly, and the prices are very affordable. The only thing to keep in mind is parking, which can be a bit tricky depending on the time of day. Overall, definitely a spot I'd come back to! If you prefer to sit inside, that's always an option, but if the weather is nice and sunny, I highly recommend sitting outside for some fresh air. Came here with my family for a recent graduation and the food did not disappoint. We started with the Platha & Dip, which came out hot and flaky with a rich curry dip that I could honestly have eaten on its own. The Burmese Samusas were crisp and golden, perfect with the sweet chili sauce on the side. But the standout for me was the Lotus Root Chips. They were light, crunchy, and came with a creamy dip that kept me reaching for more. Everything was fresh and full of flavor, and you can tell they put real care into each dish. The service was excellent too. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made great recommendations without ever rushing us. It really added to the whole experience. A couple of small things to note. The space is a little cramped, so it can feel tight when it is busy. And the price is on the higher side, so just go in knowing that. Those are the only reasons I am holding back from five stars. The food was flavorful and super good. My favorite was the Ohn No Khauk Swe soup and the salad. The presentation was cool too and they also would mix the food in front of you. I will say that after a few hours, my friend did get sick. I also had stomach pain but figured it was because I ate too much. I sat outside and the waiter was friendly and efficient and made sure to offer to turn on the heat lamp for us once it got cold. I'm vegan and Burma has really good vegan options with a clearly labeled menu for what is vegan or can be modified to be vegan. The main con is this place is pricey for their portions in my opinion. I arrived very early to meet a friend on a Tuesday evening. The restaurant was not too busy around 5:00. There was also tons of outdoor (covered and heated) seating. The staff were super accommodating when I let them know my friend wouldn't there for maybe 30-40 minutes. Our server was awesome. The outdoor seating was cozy even as the sun went down. He occasionally checked in to see if the temperature was still okay. I don't remember the gentleman's name, but our server was great. He bought out the Golden Hour Menu (M-F, 3-6pm). The drink specials were amazing. Cocktails for 50% off! Most, if not all were about $8 and yummy. We tried a number of them. The cucumber water was refreshing. The ginger lemon drop had just enough of each flavor component to hit the spot. I ordered the chicken samusas ($7), salt and pepper chicken ($8) and the calamari ($9) all from the Golden Hour menu. Portion sizes were hearty. Our server was kind enough to let me order before my friend arrived and waited until she arrived to serve us. It was plenty of food for two people. The only minor note is that the bathroom is down a somewhat small walkway past where take out and dishes are stored. Some of the tables inside looked very compact, especially if a party of two orders more than two dishes. Outside table for the win! We had such a great experience. I was having a tough Sunday morning and overall weekend but the service, drinks, and food here revived my spirit! Chris the bartender is such a sweet chill guy, and made me a great thai tea and offered me to try the Mango Lassi-- it was sooo good and genuinely made my day. The quality of the ingredients were the same. Portions are huge came home with so many leftovers which I know, I will enjoy later. I absolutely love burma superstar. I have visited the Oakland location several times in the past decade and the Alameda one a handful of times. The food never misses here ! We arrived Saturday evening for dinner and had a short wait. There was a huge crowd already queuing up for tables. We were seated inside and ordered the eggplant with chicken, nan gyi dok, tea leaf salad and lamb curry along with a few bowls of coconut rice. Finally got the chance to come here after hearing about it for years. I've been to some of the sister locations, but never this one. The food and experience was quite nice. We were seated outside, but there was an awning and heat lamps to keep warm. It was a bit pricey, but the flavors of the dishes were great. Some of the memorable dishes were the tea leaf salad and the beef curry, paired with the coconut rice it was quite delicious. Even though this restaurant is a bit pricey, I would say the portions are great, so still felt like I was getting a value for the money as I was able to take a good portion of it home. Open 7 days a week from 11:30am to 9pm. Service - 5 stars. They normally do not seat you unless your entire party is here. We drove 3 cars and my wife got here first. She was the very first customer. They decided to let her have her table. As my wife had spa/beauty appointments after lunch, she ordered (family style) for everyone early while the rest of us looked for parking. The waiter recommended us great dishes . We ordered the Nan Gyi Dok & Wok Style Chili Beef and a side of coconut rice. The Nan Gyi Dok is noodles with curry chicken. Honestly, we've liked everything we've tried on the menu. The service is quick- it's very bustling inside. The tight corridor to the back of the restaurant where the bathrooms are means doing an awkward side shuffle dance with servers and cooks. It makes me feel a little anxious. They are so popular (which is a good problem to have!) but wish they could expand their footprint for better customer comfort. The inside of the restaurant is very cramped, so the outside parklet is preferred for me. There's a weekday happy hour where drinks are 50% off which makes splurging on alcohol much more reasonable. The OG of Burmese restaurants - eating at one of their three Bay Area locations is a treat. I met a former colleague here for lunch today, and we sat outdoors as there was no space indoors. There was noisy construction on Park Street but we managed to converse without yelling. I ordered a Burmese milk tea and the pork curry lunch special, he got the mango chicken with garlic noodles. The food arrived in about 15 minutes - the salad served with my curry was delightfully crunchy, and the coconut rice was perfectly cooked. The curry was flavorful without being overpowering, and had a couple of pieces of potato in addition to the pork, which were a pleasant surprise. My colleague enjoyed his food as well, polishing it off well before I did. Service was friendly and attentive. There was only one unisex bathroom but it was clean.
