The Airbender (look at the arrow garnish!)

Recently found out that they are likely moving their location to piedmont in March. Came here for a large birthday party and that was friendly and accommodating. Even offered to do separate checks. All the food we got was fresh and tasty. But I was particularly happy with the green beans and tofu and the Airbender drink! The restaurant is nicely decorated.

Food was delicious~ Came here for a Valentine's Day date with my favorite person :) Space was plentiful on a Sunday lunch and we ordered the tea leaf salad, whole fried fish and the basil cumin chicken along with a coconut rice. Food is fresh and packed of flavor. Tea leaf salad is a 3/5 as I'm used to it havig more ingredients and varied flavor. Whole fried fish tasted quite plain without the sauce and the sauce was where it was all at. It was a bit too fried and the ratio of fried to flesh was a little imbalanced, 3/5 The basil cumin chicken was delicious and the best ~ It has a kick to it and went well with the coconut rice. 4/5 Overall, a delicious meal ~

Went here about two weeks ago with a bunch of friends for lunch on a Friday. I got lucky and found some free parking around the corner. The place looks absolutely fabulous inside. Modern, swanky decor, think of something from the Pottery Barn catalog. It was not very busy for lunch. Server was really nice, but there was only one, so we had to wait a bit. I ordered a lunch special salad with chicken. It was pretty good, except that the dressing was extremely salty. It seemed to be a fish sauce based. I probably would order something else next time or get the sauce on the side. I got a few items to go, which were better, IMHO. The Pea Shoot Salad ($15) was a riff on the Tea Leaf Salad and it was great. The dressing is different on this one, sort of like a mild citrus vinaigrette, which worked better. The Coconut Bayleaf Shrimp ($25) was amazing! The flavors were really complex and worked well together. It was even better with the Coconut rice ($5). Highly recommended! Portion sizes were bit on the small side. But all the food was very high-quality. Should be even better once we figure out what to order. Has a lot of potential. Give it a try!

To be honest it want my favorite. The flavors were very different than the standard Burmese cuisine I've had over the years. It seemed like a mixture of Trinidadian mixed with Eritrean mixed with Indian to be honest! Great location and the service was good. The drinks were a little weak but bit bad.

Why don't I get over to the east bay more often? Teni Kitchen is just so good . It's been too long since I had those yummy spicy noodles with chicken and coconut curry. This time the pea sprout salad was perfectly dressed - very tender and delicious pea sprouts and a generous serving. We shared and we agreed -- delicious! Very spacious place and attentive waiter.

The food was good and as you can expect for Michelin guided with small portions but pricey. Service was alright and the setup up of the restaurant is to one side with the kitchen and bar on the other so it feels kinda small. Coconut rice is really good and curries were mild and good as well. Probably would not come back however nice to try burmese food

I've kept hearing people rave about this spot! I'm so Glad I finally got to try it tonight! The servers were so sweet and attentive. Everything was absolutely delicious! There was no wait too which was so nice! I'd definitely come back and order the exact same things. Fried Whole Fish - so so fresh & the spicy sauce it came with was fire! Ten Spicy Noodles -- this wasn't spicy at all and is more on the curry side of flavors. Tea Tree Salad -- loved the use of kale in this! Flavor was delicious! This spot is WAY better than Burma Superstar!

Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand 2024! This is now my favorite Burmese restaurant. At 11:30AM on Saturday, my fiancé and I were the first customers. Immediately, we were warmly greeted. The friendly and efficient service lasted throughout our whole lunch. Our server made great recommendations on the menu as well. Here's what we ordered (spoiler alert: everything was delicious) -- Crispy Spicy Catfish: this was fire. My favorite dish of our meal. The spice comes on the side so you can adjust your spice level according to your preferences. The fish was perfectly fried, so crispy on the outside but still juicy on the inside! A 10/10 from me. -- Chicken Cardamom Curry: deliciously warm and filling. The chicken pieces are generous and juicy. We ordered rice on the side to pair with the curry. -- Tea Leaf Kale Salad: excellent flavors! I recommend starting with this. Tastes savory and crunchy. -- Roti with Dip: the roti is veryyy buttery but still good. Warm and easily pulled apart. Paired great with the curry we ordered This area of Oakland seemed pretty walkable and nice (ish). Street parking may be harder to find on a busier day. The interior of the restaurant is really clean with natural lighting, so lunch here was a pleasant experience. I will be back!

We absolutely loved everything we ate and drank at Teni East. The flavors were spectacular! We had two servers, both were great, and there was a lovely low key sophistiated ambiance, it wasn't too crowded on a weekend evening. Parking in the neighborhood was easy.

I had the most INCREDIBLE experience here. It was our friend's birthday and a small group of us wanted to coordinate a surprise celebration. The staff was accommodating with our requests and assisted us with the arrangement. The inside has bar seating, tables, and half booths against the walls. It's lightly dim giving a perfect occasion for date nights, family dinners, celebrations, etc. Once everyone was seated, our server was attentive and gave out suggestions for drinks/food. Their special cocktail menus are studio Ghibli-themed! We ordered various of dishes as we were doing a family-styled meal. The food was superb and overall exceptional. The coconut rice was bomb - pairs well with every entree!! That side dish was a MUST with the curry. Thank you again to the staff that made our friend's day and this place is definitely worth visiting when you're in the Oakland area. :) **They have an excellent vegan/vegetarian and gluten free options as well** Roti with Dip - Fluffy and soft with such flavorful dip. There's a hint of spice but it was absolutely delicious. Chicken Cardamom Curry - My favorite of the night. The chicken was so tender that it easily breaks off once my fork touched it. The curry goes well with it and comes with a side of potatoes. Rich in FLAVOR and I'd recommend this dish!! Basil Cumin Chicken - Stir fried chicken with basil and onions. This one is on the savory and spicy side. Beef Curry - The quality was there and it gave out more of a stew type of dish. Crispy Skin Salmon - The salmon was cooked to perfection. I believe it's fried (?). Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This comes with a salad and cauliflower. Coconut Bay Leaf Shrimp - This curry was the same that comes with the Roti and Dip. Shrimp size was reasonable. Basic dish yet tasty and sweet!!

Take out order--beef curry, GARLIC GREEN BEANS W/TOFU, COCONUT RICE, TEA LEAF KALE SALAD (GF) vegan. Everything amazing!
    Catt M.

Oh my goodness! This place was amazing! If we lived closer we would eat here all the time! Everything we ordered was so flavorful from the green beans with tofu to the tea leaf salad to the coconut rice. What I was especially impressed by was their tea leaf salad...I didn't expect a kale based salad but it was AMAZING and I was surprised to find that I even prefer it this way. Highly recommend!

Tallboy's martini menu is well-executed. While I didn't personally try one of the slushies, a friend ordered the espresso martini version and gave it a solid thumbs-up. Unfortunately, the experience falls apart when it comes to food and service. Waiting 30+ minutes for two hot dogs (after paying) is hard to justify. When I checked in with a server, she was curt and dismissive. She was quick to explain there was only one person in the kitchen, with no effort to offer a solution, timeline, or even basic courtesy. I understand staffing issues happen. However, customer service is a close second to concept. How an issue is communicated and addressed is what separates good service from bad. What's more frustrating is that these aren't customer problems to absorb. If the kitchen is understaffed, if tables aren't being cleared in a timely manner at a seat-yourself spot, those are management problems. Guests should not have to choose to leave without the food we paid for. There's a lot of competition out there, and concepts alone aren't enough to bring people back. I genuinely wanted that hot dog. That's probably the most disappointing part of the whole experience. Great drinks, solid ambiance, but the service needs serious attention.

Your whole party has to get the Restaurant Week Menu. So we all got their: Aperitif Cocktail - Tomato Beef or Purely Passion (Non Alcoholic) I got the Purely Passion. Good, nothing to write home about. Umami Tots This was really good! Very Crispy. Chili Cucumbers This one was actually really good. Szechuan Salt and Pepper Wings Good, but maybe too crispy? Wings are always good but this one didn't stand out for me. Mango Sorbet (They changed this from the Apple Sorbet that day) My favorite of the whole night. I usually don't like sorbet but this one was soft and easy to eat and has like a creamy like texture? Trying this made me want to try their other dessert item. We also ordered 2 add ons - the Hojicha Miso Tiramisu and the Korean Mapo Tofu. Hojicha Miso Tiramisu was OK. It contained too much alcohol for all of us and was bitter. Disappointing. I liked the Mapo Tofu! I liked that it was Crispy and that it came with rice. Drinks wise, my friends also got to try the Tomato Beef and White Rabbit. I don't really drink alcohol so I just sipped a bit. Tomato Beef was too alcoholic for me, couldn't really taste the tomato or the beef, but I could see what White Rabbit was going for.
