I got the Blue Hawaiian, a yummy classic, and it did not disappoint. Despite the cold front over the Bay Area this weekend, I instantly felt as if I'd teleported to Hawai'i. Came here on a random Wednesday night and though it wasn't as busy as a weekend would be, our friends and I still had a good time. Bartender was chill and the place is quite spacious - there is seating indoors and a whole outdoor patio with chairs/booths and games like corn hole, connect 4, and giant jenga. The patio area is nice because there are space heaters on the side and it's so pretty with the hanging lights. The drink prices aren't too bad, but I like that they had good flavors for the high noons. Definitely a good spot to check out for a chill night out. read more

I finally made it to this bar after hearing about it for years. This is a nice spacious neighborhood bar with good cocktails. I really like their outside area, it's build around redwood trees and feels super cozy. There's covered seating out there so that you can sit and chat with your friend group, and then there's uncovered seating closer to the trees. Quite a nice find, that's for sure. Jamie W. and I were walking on Telegraph intent on downing a mangonada slushie at the Telegraph Beer Garden (review: https://yelp.to/CQT7tqXoZI). However, it was jam-packed with rowdy drinkers who had trouble setting their volume controls. So I developed a case of small-mouth, so we took an about-face and decided to stop here for the first time. Beyond thirst obviously, what motivated us was my recollection from their Yelp listing that they make a Pimms Cup. I've been surprised how relatively few carry a bottle of Pimms in their inventory, so I was happy with my $12 Pimms Cup. They mixed it with strawberry-infused gin, cucumber, ginger, lemon, and soda, and the effect was quite refreshing (photo: https://yelp.to/iqp443RzbH). Came here for the Christmas decor as part of Miracle on Telegraph and loved my drink! My party of 4 came on a Sunday night around 6 pm and it wasn't too crowded. They have a lot of Christmas decorations up right now, so I had been wanting to come and check it out for a while. Both the indoor area and the outdoor patio were decked out. Lots of lights everywhere and walls inside were plastered with wrapping paper. Loved the festive vibes! They have a special Christmas cocktail menu right now, with prices ranging from $14 to $18. I got the Christmas Cricket ($16), which has tequila, vanilla liqueur, minty amaro, coco pandan, cream, and mole bitters. This drink was SO good if you like a minty, chocolate-y drink. Highly recommend! I assume it's a riff of the grasshopper cocktail, which is another one of my favorites. The only disappointment was that it wasn't served in a cute Christmas-themed glass. My other friends got the Krampus ($18), which is a strong drink with both tequila and mezcal, among other alcohol, and they really liked it. Again, the choice of cup was a bit questionable though... This place is aso dog-friendly( saw plenty of dogs at the terrace) and have plenty of TVs to watch games. If you open your tab, there is a minimum charge. A friend found this place in her search for holiday cocktails, so we had to try it out. We found holiday cocktails and then some. There were plenty of people here on a Wednesday night dressed in festive costumes or bike shorts (no in between). It took a while to reach the front but eventually placed our orders for 3 holiday cocktails: Hot Buttered Rum, Jingle Balls Nog, and Christmas Cricket. The drinks came in the cutest mugs which were for sale and they held our credit card until we finished our drinks and returned them. The drinks were tasty and although on the pricier side, it was worth it for the Christmas cheer and vibes. All the drinks were pretty typical for the holiday season except the Christmas Cricket which we liked the least (tequila didn't go super well with all the other ingredients). Been coming here for more than 4years as I love the ambience and usually the bartenders are great with their drinks until last night. I was using the bathroom using the stall when a worker who was off the clock accused me of using drugs in the stall. Felt very disrespected and was baffled that I was accused for absolutely no reason. I was upset and went for a drink to cool off. I was next for my drink and the guy working the bar noticed me upset. Turns out this is the owner(or person in charge). I brought up the situation because I felt VERY disrespected as I am a casual at this bar. First thing they said was "if the shoe fits wear it" . After that I told him I'm very upset and disappointed that this is how they treat their regulars. He says " you wanna keep bitching and moaning or do you want a drink" . I said I'm good and they will never get my business or any of my friends business again. Very saddened about the fact that this is how they treat their LONG TIME customer. Not sure if they had food when I was there, but we were able to bring in boxes of pizza to eat while we hung out in the patio. There was a pop-up hot dog cart with a lady cooking German hotdogs & vegan hot dogs. She had lots of topping to add on them too. There are lots of tables and benches in the patio and some games to play. We played on these Giant Jenga and connect four setups. Its a great and place to chill with friends. Haven't been here in a while but so glad to be back! I went for the East Bay Beer Running group on a Tuesday so I was there for the beer. But they had super cute holiday cocktails on their menu that I have to go back to try! They have both indoors and outdoor space and both were super cute, we sat outside. The servers were really nice and going as fast as they could while still making sure each patron got their full attention. I spontaneously went here with a friend during a Saturday evening and surprisingly, there was not a lot of people. They have a big outdoor seating area which was nicely decorated. My friend and I had a great time catching up. I looked into their Yelp before making this review and I saw a menu of their holiday cocktails and I could just imagine how nicely decorated this place would be during the holidays! I had to come here for Miracle on Telegraph, a Christmas themed pop up. Boy, this place has really transformed into a Gift Wrapped, Grinchy Christmas at the north pole! I love the lights and the abundance of Christmas decor. Even the staff is super dressed up! What I got: - Christmas Cricket: My favorite drink! This has a pandan minty flavor with notes of chocolate. I recommend this for people who like milky, dairy filled drinks. - Grandma Got Run Over by a T-Rex: I got this because I wanted the T-Rex cup, it is so fun and adorable. The drink itself is vodka based and strong, but it's nothing special. I recommend getting more specialized drink that you can't get elsewhere. Stumbled across this little jewel right here on Yelp. I was looking for a bar that was open after 10 and Yelp recommended The Double Standard. I've lived in Oakland the majority of my life and I never knew this place existed. That's the power of Yelp. Now, I walked in and was greeted at the door by Security. Very nice gentleman who checked our IDs and called someone to escort us back to a table. We were asked to sanitize our hands, given a choice off which table we wanted to sit at and instruction on how to use the QR code-- a new favorite of mine. We ordered our drinks and they were brought to our table in less than 5 minutes. The drinks were sooooo good and strong that we ordered two more rounds. I didn't order any food this time, but I definitely plan to return to try the menu. I think we paid $10 for the House Margaritas and $12 for the Henny Sidecars. Great prices. The ambiance was dope. There is a huge oak tree in the middle of patio that they've set up tables, benches and lights around. I thought that was so dope. There is also a TV for the game and heat lamps near some of the tables. It was a little cold last night but I know on a warm Summer light this is definitely the place to be. Good drinks. So idk why I didn't know about this place pre-Covid. It's absolutely cute and love the environment. From the outside it just looks like a hole in a wall spot or an abandoned building. It's an entrance to go to the outside patio area with tables and heating lamps. They had menus available with QR code's on the walls near your tables. You order everything online which was nice and easy. So if you're with a group everyone can just order and pay for their own items easily. I rarely go out, so it was nice to find somewhere that reminded me of the happy times pre-Covid. I have to say I was a bit concerned from across the street. Could it be shuttered from Covid? Maybe inflation made their operating costs cut too much into their bottom line? A possible crime scene? Well this is in Oakland I think, or Emeryville as I don't know the city boundaries too well. Cut to the chase, the place was open and actually pretty vibrant for a Saturday and a bit of day drinking! In short, you must come here for a cocktail. Simply order your drink from the very nice bartender and proceed to the back of the establishment and enjoy the surroundings! I'll stop there so you can enjoy the surprise if it's your first time going to this establishment: a hidden gem, a candle in the wind, a beacon of light! I don't know how this places changes for the late crowd, but from 3 to 5 it was the perfect place to hang the hat for a while and decide where to go for dinner or more cocktails. Since moving to Oakland in May, this place has become our go-to for cocktails. We've only been during the day but it has a nice large patio with dogs allowed and the cocktails themselves taste like a upscale cocktail bar, without the hefty price. We'll be back many more times! read more

So I was day drinking with family and by the time we got here I was ready for some water and a chill pill. But the bartender said she could make a me a really good mocktail. I took her offer and was so happy. It was sweet and citrusy and delicious. I can't remember exactly what was in it but it had guava, grapefruit, ginger beer and I think pineapple juice with a sprig of mint. Then of course we went outside to their back garden. This is a great bar! The music is good, the outside ambiance is beautiful, and I had an amazing time. I came here at the beginning on February when things started to open back. There was a wait of about 20 minutes the night I came. There was also a time limit on the table of 90 minutes to ensure they were accommodating all customers. All transactions were made via phone and then the order would get delivered to the table. The menu was also provided via QR code. I got a Paloma and carne asada fries. Both were really good. The Paloma had a kick to it and i really enjoyed it. The carne asada fries were really good too. They were well seasoned and packed with good flavor. The only thing I had a problem with is the fact that I was seated in a far corner away from everything. It was away from the heaters they had out around the main seated area. The table was also a wobbly plastic bench table which sucked. While i understand the accommodations required due to COVID, if that corner area wasn't going to be provided with the same amenities as the other areas, it shouldn't have been there. This is also why this review didn't get 5 stars because being seated in that corner was not enjoyable. Though this was the case, I would give this place another try. My constant favorite cocktail bar in Oakland. You feel at home. Security will greet and tease you like an old friend if you're a local or regular. The bartenders are usually quite busy but still take the time to chat with you and crafting the drinks that aren't on tap. The DS is great for all occasions: to watch a Warriors game (watch parties were VERY fun and rowdy on the patio), take a date for drinks under the romantic redwood tree, gather with friends on one of the larger picnic tables, and even dancing when they bring in a DJ. It is a bit frustrating when they charge a cover on First Fridays, but you are always assured of a good time at the DS. I've been coming here for years, but recently went to the Miracle/holiday-themed pop-up. I was skeptical, but the drinks were still fantastic and inventive - albeit pricier for the novelty of the mugs and theme. I was so impressed with how they handled my large running group (I think there were 50+ people from our club alone). I like that they have a dedicated beer and wine line that makes it more efficient dividing between the cocktail drinkers and the rest of the bar. Another patron got a little snappy at one of the bartenders who was doing literally the best of juggling so many orders, and the bartender was the height of professional and courteous even so. If you want to go to a bar to just be ignored by all three bartenders and not get served one drink in the span of 45 minutes when it is NOT busy, then this is the place I guess. I Literally always tip good when I go and I am beyond respectful to bartenders but for some reason they kept ignoring my friends, I, and certain groups of people behind us as well. It was so obvious they were choosing who they wanted to serve drinks to - so humiliating.
