Industry dive bar that serves classic cocktails. They update their menu every so often, their latest drink is called the beta test and I was surprised how much I liked it. It was vodka, carrot juice, lemon, and ginger syrup. My go to drink here is their jungle bird or lions tail bc I love allspice dram. The bartenders here really know their stuff and can whip you up a drink if you don't see something on the menu you're interested in. They do have DJs playing some nights. read more

Came here with a group of about 10 people for a chill surprise bachelorette party. I didn't plan it, but apparently the staff are really accommodating and happy to host, even let us decorate the upstairs area if we wanted to. We made it for happy hour and enjoyed the dark lighting and chill vibes that made for a very relaxed hangout with friends. It didn't seem all that busy and the bartender was really friendly and thoughtful with our drinks. I enjoyed the Mai Tai and the Dark and Stormy. No food here. My friend and I came here on a Tuesday evening. It wasn't super busy, so we were able to sit at the bar and order our drinks immediately. Our main bartender was Mavis(?) who was super friendly and very knowledgeable. The drinks I had were well made and tailored to my tastes perfectly. Another bartender, Kevin, helped Mavis on our side at times. He was also pretty friendly. My friend and I had a pretty good time here and would definitely recommend this bar for a good drink. read more

This bar is my go to for a Greyhound. They are made with gin instead of vodka and somehow that just elevates the drink. Happy hour specials are great and last until 8pm. I paid $26 for FOUR cocktails the other evening which is almost unheard of nowadays in Oakland. There is also free herb popcorn. The atmosphere is intimate and cozy. Nice mood lighting adds a little romance. The bonus is how easy it is to find parking here after 5:00. read more

I really dig Bar 355! It's a classY bar with a very classIC feel, if you know what I mean ;). The style of the bar presents a very modern day retro feel. The drinks here are pretty amaze balls! I had a Margarita and their specialty Valencia Cosmo cocktail the last time I was here. The Valencia Cosmo was delicious and they even garnished it with a fresh cranberry! Yummy! The price points are very fair here and can range anywhere from $8-$12 but mostly on the lower side. I haven't yet been during happy hour, but I've heard that it's really good! This place has a very chill vibe and casual ambiance. The bartenders are super friendly and the other patrons that I have socialized with here are really cool. The bar is a bit on the smaller side and it gets busy on Friday and Saturday nights, so it can turn into a shoulder to shoulder situation at times. There are a few tables with booth seating in the back near the restrooms to accommodate groups, but not really ideal for large parties. Bar 355 is definitely more on the intimate side. There is no food or TV's here, but this place is great for a get together with friends or for a nice drink with your significant other. It can get a little loud here, but nothing insane. There are a few parking lots around that are free after 6 that usually have many spaces available. If you are into a low key bar for socializing, add Bar 355 to your list! read more

I came across Bar Three Fifty-Five while wandering through downtown Oakland, looking for a little spot to meet up with someone for a cocktail. The bar drew me in right away. I told my friend, this is my kind of place. Small, intimate, old fashioned classy feeling to it. They even have a small stage for events and such. This place reminds me of the speakeasy type places popping up all over. The bar was pretty busy, but it wasn't very packed or loud - both bonuses. I ordered a "19th Street Manhattan" off their custom drink menu. It was as pretty as it was delicious, but packed that Man-hat-tan kick to it. I only had one, but enjoyed it very much. You know, considering how Bar Three Fifty Five wasn't even our intended destination, I'd say our experience here was a pleasant surprise. Not that I ever thought the place would be bad. I love visiting bars in Oakland! I think I write that whenever I review an Oakland bar... but it's true. Anyways, Bar Three Fifty-Five is relatively close to the BART station, so my friend and I chose this place to meet up one day for happy hour. It opens at 5:00 PM, and I got there a few minutes early, but the sweet bartender let me in. The dim, sexy lighting of this place is fun. I sat at the bar while waiting for my friend and ordered a cocktail. I can't remember the name, but I believe they rotate their drinks every so often anyways. It was the kind of drink that tastes dangerously innocent up front, then the alcohol sinks in. Yikes! I had a few more cocktails after that, once my friend showed up and our conversation extended into the night. What kept us there longer was the fact that we could order food from Parlour next door. Cool! The bartender said they'll eventually have a system where they can place orders from Bar Three Fifty-Five so customers wouldn't have to walk back and forth between the two buildings. In short, the food from Parlour was excellent. You'll have to see my review for that place. Overall I'd love to come to Bar Three Fifty-Five again. They have good happy hour specials, but more than that, the lively vibe and the friendly service make this a great place to hang out and be social for a few hours. read more

An excellent place to watch games that doesn't appear to be impossible to get into like many other Oakland bars. It is pretty empty from 4-6 but fills up quickly at that point. They don't really have any food options but they will let you bring in food from outside, which is really nice. They do have a great selection of cocktails. They also have super generous happy hour that goes all the way until 8! The "TV" is really a projector but it seems to be a pretty good quality one but you can occasionally tell it's projected. There is just the one huge TV to watch that is at the very back of the bar and so everybody can pretty easily face it from no matter where you are sitting. It's one of those very dark dim places but not dingy and the ambience is nice. Overall a great Oakland bar and certainly worth checking out. read more

One of the coolest bars I've ever been in. I only gave it 3 stars because of the bartender. I don't recall her name, but she probably shouldn't be a bartender. She obviously doesn't like her job. My wife and I tried having a conversation with her since we were the only two people in there and she was just standing there. It was obvious she has no interest in talking to her customers. Bar Three Fifty-Five was such a fun spontaneous stop for us. We ended up here after the Yelp Halloween 2016 Event at the Overlook Lounge looking to continue the fun and once we walked in, we were immediately greeted by Halloween decorations galore. They even had a Halloween specific menu with fun concoctions for you to choose from. Apparently this cool little bar was having its very own Halloween party, and who doesn't love festivities?? We ordered a couple drinks here and were serviced quickly by the bartenders who were working at the bar. They made awesome drinks with a good punch of booze while being tasty and well-mixed. Too bad it is a little out of the way from where I live... But if I am in the area, this will definitely be on my list of bars to stop by! read more

Oh man. I barely ever write reviews, so you know this experience really had to stick out. I got super weird vibes from this bar. Fiancee and I came by on a Wednesday evening around 8pm. I was actually checking it out as a potential location for a work HH the next day, and I'm really glad I visited before deciding. After about 5 min she finally acknowledged us and remarked that she would be right with us and that it was after the happy hour time, so we couldn't use the menu. We were like, yeah totally fine, thanks. We wait another 3 minutes. Another staff person comes in and also doesn't greet us but takes the happy hour menu on the bar in front of us away. We saw the bartender greet two new people that came into the bar and serve them as well as another party while seemingly continuing to ignore us, so we ended up just walking out. A guy at the end of the bar was also staring at us the whole time? Afterwards fiancee and I did the whole 'was it what we were wearing? what did we do to be treated like that?' We're in our late 20s and two POC. We thought we were being respectful, but we still don't know why the vibes were so unwelcoming. read more

Last weekend there were 3 bar brawls at 3 separate bars all in 1 city...where you may ask?...downtown Walnut Creek!...just YouTube 'Shiro fight' if you find this hard to believe. Since we're not the type looking for a free front row seat for a Friday Night Smackdown, we decided to head out of the 'burbs in search of good drinks in a low-key setting free of Tool Academy wannabes. Never thought we would head out from Walnut Creek into uptown Oakland for drinks...but that's exactly what we did. And boy was it a great decision! This place has a great relaxed feel to it. Decor is classic but still chic. Bartenders are nice guys. Music was right up our alley. Crowd was super mellow...unexpected predominance of hipsters. Specialty cocktail menu is creative and more importantly tasty. At a reasonable $8/cocktail, we tried 5 different drinks during our Friday night chillaxing session. My personal fave was the Elderflower Caipirinha...excellente. If you want to avoid the drama of certain local bars, seriously head out to Oakland and check this spot out...we definitely will again! read more

I dig these digs. The ambiance is old school and completely out of place on this Oakland street, which only makes it more fun. The bartenders are attentive and incredibly talented. When I asked for a drink rec, Mr. Mustachio whipped up a phenomenal Vieux Carre - a cocktail born in New Orleans (he informed me) made with rye, cognac, vermouth, bitters, and my new favorite liquor, Benedictine. Delicious. The ambiance is fresh, funky, classic, and warm all at once. The lighting, the back-lit bar, the wallpaper, the high tables and booths in the back are all purrfect for a night out. It's a little too loud for me - I wanted to sock the screaming, give-me-attention drunk guy in the face, but somehow refrained - and simultaneously refrained from being the as*hole patron who asks the bartender to turn down the volume - and instead agreed to scream at my friend for the two hours we hung out here. Other than that, I'm happy to have found a great place for a late-night drink... despite the fact that I should clearly be home knitting, since loud noises make me grouchy. Just give me a few more years before I retire my shot glass!!! read more

LL went way out of her way to say that her friend felt this place was unremarkable (in a bad way). I had been insisting that it sounds like a cool joint but "no way Jose", her eyebrow would not rise. Eventually, that all turned around when we arrived here on Art Murmur night. LL seemed instantly infatuated with the celeb look-a-likes. We even played a game of Google image mix & match. At times I wonder if she ever realized what the real allure of the bar was; alcohol. I ordered a Stella on draft and a Whiskey sour with grenadine (just in case the sour was too strong, which it was not). The dark haired bartender had me under the impression that he was making a witches brew. All types and kinds of miscellaneous ingredients were poured. My initial reaction was WTF but as I began to sip my drink I slowly became vexed into thinking this place was worth a damn. The liquor selection is entertaining to say the least. Whiskey is alive at this place and I was caught off guard by the french vodka, Pinnacle, sitting in their well. Initially it smacked my tongue whilst sipping a Cape Cod and I had to ask what vodka they used. I'm so accustomed to choking on Smirnoff and Skyy, a new vodka is exactly what the doctor ordered. Now, I am a regular. I've met Victor, a cool guy, in addition to the other dudes that LL expects to see whenever we pop up. I expect to be back here on a regular basis and I fully intend to raid their well and see what off kilter, left of the industry stuff they use. They even squeeze their orange juice in addition to serving these cool little tart cherries. All these smart, eccentric selections buzz my curiosity... I think I need a drink. read more
