Delicious comfort Thai food! Everything we ordered was super tasty and had such a comforting Thai taste. Servers were so nice and accommodating even though we came an hour before closing. They constantly came over to check on us and poured us water. The interior was nice and we sat near the wall where we had nice, soft pillows behind us!! Papaya salad: so refreshing and spicy! A hidden gym in a not so hidden place. I was shocked at how much I'd like this place. A quick yelp search and boop! May Thai popped up. The ambiance is cozy with an impressive lucky cat collection. The service was top notch and I appreciated how my water was always filled to the top. I definitely was extra hydrated throughout the dinner. I highly recommend ordering the Khao Soi and the Beef Pad See Ew. Both dishes were delightful and kept me wanting seconds... I mean, thirds. I haven't had a pad see ew where the beef required painstaking chewing in a longgg time so this dish was extra delicious and was done so well. The noodles were flavored perfectly and the beef def had some Maillard reaction going on due to the wok hei of the dish (a true sign of chef master skills). As for the Khao Soi, the coconut curry aromas were ever so fragrant and the chicken leg/thigh size was giant! These dishes just kept delivering. May Thai is great! I've been a regular since my first visit. The staff is super friendly and accommodating, and the food is super tasty. Some of my favorite dishes are the Thai street food style pad krapow, the issan papaya salad, crispy rice salad, pad se ew, and tom yum fried rice. A pleasant surprise is that most of the dishes on the menu are, or can be made gluten free. Because so many of the dishes are already gf, there's no sacrifice in terms of flavor. The dining area is casual, and the location is super convenient if you're on or near Park Street. I recommend May Thai for lunch or for dinner, and for large groups or smaller parties. Had dinner tonight with my two kids four years old and two years old. It was about 8 PM. It was like 1/3 full. My kids were making so much noise but nobody complained. We got the pad Thai with chicken and tofu ,tom Yum soup with shrimp and the crab Rangoon's. Yummy restaurant yummy food they even give you plastic plates and plastic forks and spoons for your kids without even asking because obviously kids that age can break glass, which I really liked. Had dinner here Saturday night with my Bro & SIL. Cute little restaurant with low-key nice decor. Clean and bright. Parking is street only, so keep your eyes open for a good one as you may have to drive around a bit- especially on a weekend. They have a vegan menu! This really helps with ordering. Any time you eat at a restaurant on Park st, parking is going to be a bit time consuming. My mom and I decided to get some Thai food. It wasn't super crowded when we got here for lunch, maybe 3 or 4 other tables. We were seated and given water and menus really quickly. We decided on the green curry with brown rice and pad kee mao. Loved the presentation of the heart shaped brown rice. The plates and bowls were nice too. The green curry was perfectly flavorful, everything was cooked well, taste and texture-wise. Exceptional food and service! I ordered 4 dishes for a party of fifty people. The manager made a special effort to get the appropriate size food trays for our party. She came in early to cook the dishes so that we could pick them up at the designated time and she timed the cooking so that the food would be has hot and fresh as possible. She said she took pride in her food and that it was important to her that the food was delicious. It certainly was! I truly believe May Thai has the tastiest Thai food in Alameda. The manager then loaded the heavy food trays into an insulated bag and metal tray and then loaded them into our car personally! When I told her I would return the bag and metal pan tomorrow she said no rush. She even called me at party time and offered me warming tools and rice if I did not have them plus she gave us bonus spring rolls. The bathroom was clean. Sweet pumpkin curry puffs: Flakey, butter pastry. The middle is savory but I felt it would've been better if it were more flavorful. Corn taro cream cheese wanton: The cream cheese was really yummy. I found the sweet and sour sauce very tangy and acidic. Khao soi curry noodle soup (asked for it to not be spicy): It was salty but not too salty, and quite creamy. I still found it a little bit spicy as I could feel I was getting some acid reflux, I'm unfortunately someone who is very sensitive to spiciness in food. I like that there was a mixture of both hard and soft noodles. The noodles were packaged separately to avoid getting soggy. read more

Not much to say about my experience here. We didn't really go the path less taken... I mean we ordered their pineapple fried rice and chicken pad thai. The flavors aligned with what we expected. They did give enough for us to have leftovers so that's a plus. We also ordered their Spicy Wings of Heaven and roti. The wings were more on the sweet side than spicy, but they were nice and crispy. The roti, on the other hand, was not what we expected and it came out very oily. Do not recommend that one. This place is a great option for dinner from dates to family meals. We were a party of 9 on a Sunday lunch to celebrate a birthday. First off, service was phenomenal! They organized a table in the front with a nice birthday banner. They allowed us to bring an outside cake and eat it after the meal. Some of the highlights from lunch included the spicy basil with vegetable, pad Kee mao with tofu, pinneaple fried rice with tofu for vegetarians. For meat/seafood eaters, the coconut lemongrass soup and massaman curries were a big hit. Flavors were phenomenal! Dishes were not overly greasy. I was shocked to see this was one of the emptier restaurants. Folks, this is the place to go! Everything was very clean. Plates were changed out when necessary. Bathroom was well stocked and clean. While we sang happy birthday, one of the waitresses came over and helped us film with our camera. The same waiter also carrying held a baby of another couple dining in the restaurant. Customer service wasn't great. Took a while to get the food even though we got an appetizer it took a while for that too. We got the fried shrimp appetizer and it was $12 for 5 pieces of small shrimp and a whole bunch of lettuce, no flavor whatsoever. was disappointed. Then i get chicken satay at every thai food place i go to and this one wasn't terrible but the portion sizes was not giving for their prices. For our main dishes we ordered several things: The beef panang curry (the perfect amount of heat & the beef was so tender it was easy to pull apart) a side of Jasmine rice (fluffy & cooked perfectly), the chicken satay (moist & flavorful) & the chefs special that had long noodles in a peanut coconut type of sauce (comes in a large soup bowl) and fried chicken cutlets on top (also lightly breaded & moist), a shrimp pineapple fried rice (had cashews & it was super flavorful & enough to take home). All the main portions were large so we shared everything between 3 of us and had some to take home. Everything was cooked well with lots of different flavors in each dish. Papaya Salad Issan: 3/5 average papaya salad, pretty fresh, but it was a bit "fishy" Tofu Pad Thai: 3/5 I liked the noodles the most, but I cannot justify giving it a higher rating. The lime that I got was so dry that my pad thai had no lime juice. Every time I took a bite, I kept wishing it had more of a kick. Tom Yum Seafood Soup: 3/5 I ordered the "thick" version, but I don't think it was actual thick. Overall, they are ok thai place with competitive pricing in that neighborhood. Service was attentive because we were the only patrons in there for about 1/2 hour. After perusing the menu and inquiring what was the butterfly lemon iced tea, the host/waiter gave me a description of the tea. The butterfly pea flower is bright blue and is a native flower of the South Asia region. He said the tea is blue. Well, curiosity got the best of me. Blue tea? Hmmm, I will have one. My sister opted for the lychee tea. Her tea was okay. She had better elsewhere. Eats: Eggplant with jasmine rice for me. Yellow curry chicken with brown rice for my sister. We both chose mild for the level of spiciness. Even though what we had was delicious and a tad underwhelming, we know the next time to kick it up a notch to medium spiciness on those two menu items. The butterfly lemon iced tea was not blue, but purple. It was not overly sweet, refreshing and quite good. Future visit?
