We've been to Peak Thai several times for dinner, and every single time the food has been so good. We usually order a mix of dishes to share, including the spring rolls, roti bread, yellow curry, fried rice, fried chicken, and pad see ew and honestly, everything is consistently flavorful and satisfying. I know they're already popular for brunch (which we still haven't had the chance to try), but I really wish more people knew how good their dinner is too. It definitely deserves more attention as a dinner spot because the food never disappoints. read more

If this is the "peak," I'd hate to see what their bottom is. Had a reservation, but still had to wait 40 minutes. Service is slow and unhelpful. My eel dish had lukewarm small eel that tasted like it was from a packet, bland slow, lukewarm eggs, and lukewarm rice. Totally not worth it. My friend had the deconstructed Tom YUM, I guess it was okay, though she boxed most of it to go. The mango sticky rice was awful. Way too sweet, doused in syrup with bitter mangos for $13. Overall with tax and tip $100 for 2 people, was not worth it and I do not understand the hype. I heard kids and parents around us talking about how great the pancakes are, but we didn't feel like pancakes, so that's that. read more

Stopped by Peak for a last-minute brunch and it was a pretty good experience. I was curious to try out Peak for a little while but didn't get around it. The restaurant is warm and inviting with some simple decorations and touches of color. We arrived shortly after opening time and were the first ones dining in, but a steady stream of customers started coming in gradually. The brunch menu has a good amount of sweet and savory items, although the prices for certain items were a bit steep. They have multiple types of coffee and tea drinks available. I opted to order an iced lavender latte, which was quite tasty and did not have an overpowering flavor of lavender and the sweetness was just right. I also ordered the creme brûlée toast, which was a smaller portion, with one piece of brioche toast and had a nice texture and a delicious vanilla custard topping with fresh fruit. We also had a side of fruit, which seemed a bit lackluster for the $9 price. They included a small plate of sliced apple and oranges, some blueberries and cherries and 1-2 strawberries sliced thinly. Food was pretty good, but I am curious about how the savory egg dishes taste. Service was friendly and attentive, as we had to flag down a staff member for a few different items more than once. They responded promptly and were kind. However, with 2 iced drinks, 2 small-ish entrees, and a side of fruit, the total with tax was just under $60 before tip. I think Peak could be a solid brunch spot with some minimal improvements. Overall, I'd recommend trying out Peak if you're in the area. read more

Parking: Came here after a workout session with my brother and found out it's a hole in the wall restaurant so parking is on the street and of course you gotta pay the meter. Ambiance: it was nice and cozy, the decor was actually really lovely with. Nice cafe vibe. Service: service was actually really good. The servers were attentive and flexible. Food: tasty and came out fast, had the drunken noodles which were good and whatever ramen dish they had on the same page as drunken noodles. Very flavorless squid so watch out for that. And the sodas I assume is made with club soda and syrup cause that's what their lychee soda tastes like. It's alameda so I knew the menu items were going to be pricey. That's fine. Came here for brunch on a rainy weekend and there was no line at 11am. We made a reservation but definitely didn't need to. The food was tasty but felt like a cozy home cooked meal. I enjoyed the flavor of the Tom Yum reduction and my husband liked the fried rice in the Uncle Sam fried rice. The restaurant is spacious with lots of natural light and fresh florals which make the space very cozy. Parking is on the street only. Came here for a late brunch on Saturday and luckily there was no wait. Parking was a little tricky though, I ended up parking in a nearby neighborhood and walking over. For the table, we ordered the Tom Yum reduction, pandan brioche toast, and pandan pancakes. The Tom Yum dish wasn't bad, it had some nice citrusy, tangy flavors inspired by the classic Thai soup, but it didn't stand out much. The pandan brioche toast unfortunately missed the mark for us. The toast itself was extremely dry, which made it hard to enjoy even with the pandan sauce. The pandan pancakes were decent with a light sweetness and soft texture, but overall nothing particularly memorable. Service was standard and the food came out at a reasonable pace, and the place itself has a nice atmosphere. That said, the food didn't quite live up to the hype for us. I was excited to come here after seeing the Yelp reviews, and expected a wait to be seated but we actually got seated promptly on a Sunday afternoon. There were 2 of us and we each ordered one item. My girl friend got the pork belly on toast and I got the duck eggs benedict. Unfortunately I think they forgot to put my order in somehow because my friend's food came and I sat for over 45 minutes for mine. She was more than halfway done and I was still having trouble even getting a waitress' attention. I finally flagged someone down and she returned shortly with my order. It did come hot so I think they did not put the order in and it was placed after I called them over. They gave me a $6 discount on a $25 dish which while appreciated, does not really amount to the loss of time and just overall enjoyment and experience of our party. That was a bit odd to me; either it's covered because I was not able to eat with my party or it's not, unsure what $6 was supposed to mean. Food was great, the duck was super tender. We both got drinks; she got a matcha latte and I got a lychee iced tea. Drinks were alright, nothing to write home about. Price wise it was on the higher end but as is with most brunch places so it was as expected. I do hope their service improves as does their attentiveness. I absolutely loved the food here. I love brunch, I love Thai food--and Thai brunch is kind of a no-brainer. Everything we tried was really good, and while the dishes themselves are clearly Thai brunch-style (so not traditional in form), the flavors were very authentic. That balance was actually what made it so enjoyable. The standout dish for me was the tom yum seafood omurice. I still think about it sometimes--it was that good. Savory, tangy, loaded with seafood, and the sauce was just perfectly done. We also ordered the soup potato fries, which were crispy, fresh, and super satisfying--honestly a great side. And of course, we had to get the boat noodle soup, since it's my husband's favorite and not something every Thai restaurant offers. Their version was very flavorful and easily one of the better ones we've had. In general, places that serve boat noodles tend to be more authentic, and this one definitely delivered. Came here on a weekend lunch and plenty of seating in the restaurant. I also want to thank the staff member for being friendly. We were able to get the khao soy-- make sure to check with staff about availability. So, so good. Having the fried chicken to dip in the broth is a perfect combination. The pickles help cut through the rich flavors. The pad see ew is a classic dish that satisfied our rice noodle craving and the benedict was delicious, perfectly yolky and plenty of tater tots to snack on. When I saw the menu for this place, I was so excited. Everything sounded delicious. So good, in fact, that I thought there would be a line. Fortunately, there were quite a few tables available, so we were sat immediately. My table of two ordered the following: Smoked Duck Benedict - The duck was dry. The egg was fine, and the tater tots were okay, though could've been slightly crispier. Chocolate Ferrero Rocher Pancake - I should've read the details. I thought it was going to be Ferrero Rocher batter, but it was simply pancakes that were slightly better than IHOP with hazelnut chocolate cream on top. I would've preferred that the pancakes were layered with the cream (like a cake), so the cream could add more sweetness throughout the bite. Overall, this place has great promise, but the execution was average. I do like that they have reusable foodware (see Eco Notes below). The restaurant was small and set up with a bunch of small tables. But I'm sure they can accommodate large parties by putting some of the tables together. Second time at Peak. This time my partner and I decided to pop in for brunch before running Saturday errands. We shared the avocado smash with added salmon, and my partner of course got his usual side of bacon. They do a very good avocado smash here. Generous serving of both avocado and salmon. The side of greens comes with some sort of basil dressing which I really liked. I would enjoy that dressing on pretty much anything. On my previous visit here, my friend and I shared a smoked salmon Benedict, which was also very good, and the side of tater tots it came with were some of the best tots I've had. So A+ for the food. Good flavors, fresh ingredients, and generous portions. Service was good. They could use some additional staffing with the popularity this place has gained. On this Saturday, it was a full house. Sound absorbers would also be a good investment. Located in one of Alameda's many older buildings, sound bounces all over like crazy, and with a larger crowd the noise can get intense. Metered parking on Webster is often sparse, but look for parking on the side streets. I'm glad to see how far Webster St./Alameda's West Side has come over the years, and enjoy supporting the businesses on this side of town. We will be back at Peak. Woke up late and figured we should do brunch before tackling our Saturday stuff to get done. So the west side we go since a lot of our errands are on thar side of town. My first time here and 2nd for my partner. Three place was packed with only one open table Anaheim another one reserved. Given as packed as they were it took a minute to get our order in but once in and delivered staff continually checked in. I totally went off the radar and ordered the avocado smash toast with addes smoked salmon and a side of bacon. My partner shared with me minus the bacon. Looks like it seats about 40 at tables and more at the counter. Intersting in there was not a tradional eggs and bacon with toast and hash browns or differnt kinds of meat and potatoes on the menu. You could build it from side orders I guess but I opted not to. Bottomless Momo's for those inclined and a brut for us purists. A lot of Thai dishes on the menu also. We will try some of those at a later date. When crowded the noise level is a little intense. As people left the sound level was better. Acoustic tiles or some artsy sound absorbers would be great. Artwork on the walls was nice. I especially liked the white flowers with the raised accents from the thick white paint or putty. read more

I've been wanting to come check out Peak for so long, finally had the chance for a weekday Thai brunch! I love that places are doing weekday brunches because it's hard to hit the weekend brunch with kiddos, so major kuddos for that. With spacious and cute digs, can't wait to already come back to try more from the menu. My party and I split a lunch special with rice (veggie yellow curry), beef pad see ew, and a chicken satay salad. While a bit underwhelmed with the salad (the satay were chicken tendies), the curry and noodles were absolutely delicious. Packed with flavor and abundant with all the protein, two great dishes. I honestly think that Thai brunch is the ONLY way to go. It is superior to any other brunch cuisine, and my meal at Peak was only another data point to my theory. I stopped by for a late brunch with a friend on a weekend. Staff were very warm and welcoming from the time we entered. After a hard choice between all the amazing sounding items on the menu, I decided to order the Tom Yum Reduction and a Thai iced coffee. I absolutely love rice, and believe that it has a place during every meal, so I loved how warm and comforting the Tom Yum Reduction was. The rice was the perfect vesicle for the tom yum sauce mixed with the soft egg. It was hearty, balanced and had me craving for it bite after bite. SO my lovely friend and I decided to the following foods: HOUSE PANDAN BLACK TEA - $5 I'm a sucker for all things Pandan so when I saw this I had to give it a try. The Pandan was subtle but I enjoyed it! I wish I can add pandan to all my teas everyday. THAI TOM YUM REDUCTION - $21 A twist on the classic Thai dish with Maitake mushroom, prawns, red onion and fresh tomato sautéed in a rich tangy Tom Yum sauce, paired with tornado eggs. Served over fragrant Thai jasmine rice. We usually get a Logo Moco but this sounded unique and had to try! Overall good, but perhaps I expected something more. It's like having rice, scrambled eggs, and you decided to scoop some of that Tom Yum soup into your bowl. I've decided I prefer my Tom Yum exclusively as a soup. Don't get me wrong I ate it and thoroughly enjoyed it. CRISPY CLUCK BENEDICT - $22 Crispy fried chicken atop toasted sourdough, crowned with perfectly poached eggs and drizzled with velvety hollandaise sauce. A bold fusion of classic comfort and vibrant Thai flavors. Served with a side of rainbow potatoes or tater tots, and I got the latter and they were good. The chicken was more of a katsu style which was decent and overall this dish was good. PANDAN THAI TOAST - $15 Sweet pandan cream and coconut milk come together to create a wonderfully fragrant custard served on a sweet toasted brioche and coconut ice cream. Sprinkle with coconut flakes. Made with real pandan leaf with no added color. Did I mention how much I love Pandan? I was on the fence with this one because of how feel we were, and I didn't like the price. But dammit, not only was our server/shop owner so damn charming, but yes I get weak in the knees with Pandan. It was so good of course. I'm really rooting for this restaurant and hope they stick around for long. There's plenty of seating and the place is well decorated. If I could do 2-1/2 stars I would. I decided to try this place due to the reviews and was disappointed with the results. The place is clean and staff is cordial but the food is subpar. I ordered the lunch special panang curry with tofu and a side of roti. The lunch specials are the same price as the regular menu but on the regular menu rice is not included. The tofu was not grilled and the dish included a few slices of red bell pepper and a few green beans. The taste of the curry was nice but the disheartening part was that it was lukewarm. The roti came with 4 small squares. My friend got the chicken yellow curry and paid extra for sticky rice. When I asked how it was, I got a response of its "ok". With several better Thai places on the island I was surprised this rated that high. Maybe their breakfast/brunch is better?? read more

I think this review is mainly for the one item I really enjoyed, and it's the Thai Tom yum reduction. It was really good and a subtle tom yum flavor for me that I really enjoyed. My father in law even liked it, and he seems quite picky. The sauce is thickened kind of like a gravy and it's over rice with eggs. I was able to enjoy it twice because it was a lot for me (took half home to eat). My husband got the smoked duck Benedict which I personally didn't like. Duck tasted too much like bacon to me, and I like the velvet taste of Duck. He also didn't like it. There was really no wait on a Sunday morning and we got lucky with very close street parking. I had lunch at Peak restaurant on a Thursday around 1 PM and it was surprisingly quiet and relaxing spot to enjoy a meal. The inside of the restaurant is really cute and it is spacious with tons of seating available. They offer both a brunch menu and a regular menu and the selection on both ends is very impressive. There's also a great list of cocktails and desserts to round out your meal. I ordered the pad see ew with beef and added a fried egg on top (extra $3) and it was reallllly good. The thick noodles soaked up the sauce beautifully and the flavors were perfectly balanced. My coworker got the chicken satay tacos and she enjoyed them as well. I also tried the Soju bloody Mary & I highly recommend! The soju was very smooth and made it quite too easy to drink lol The prices are on the higher end, but that's expected as it is in Alameda, but I think the quality of the food, cocktails, and service made it totally worth it. Staff was friendly and attentive the whole time.
