The beers are really really good. We had the Chocolate Moustache and Cherry Sour 9/10. The food was a disaster. Fries are middle school cafeteria esque with nasty cold oil aftertaste and no seasoning. The pork banh Mi is dominated by some odd bottom of the barrel dregs oil. We also didn't even order that we ordered the pulled pork sandwich. The meatball sandwich has potential but the bread used is not a great option it's too soggy. 1/10. We would give them a second chance due to the booze, they were also super busy due to the World Cup. read more

I'm surprised Southie has any good reviews. Park St Station is amazing- friendly and efficient staff and always very clean. Their food partner Southie is so disappointing. The first time I went with my toddler and I was in a wheelchair after ankle surgery. We ordered food, the cashier said I would get a text, and we picked a table. 49 minutes later I wheeled up and asked if our grilled cheese, popcorn chicken, and tater tots would be ready soon. The cashier was on his phone and said "did you even check your messages? That order's been ready for a while now." I look inside and it's been shoved to the side. A nice lady handed me the tray and the grilled cheese is cold. I told the cashier and he just shrugged. Then I'm in the wheelchair with the tray on my lap, but I can't wheel and carry a tray. I asked the cashier for help. Since I'm interrupting him from his cell phone again, he makes a big deal of sighing then asking the lady inside to help me. The chicken was mostly breading. Fries didn't seem salted. I gave the cold grilled cheese to my dogs when I got home. Every time we have gone since then, there are a ton of kids running around. But there isn't a kids menu. I don't want to buy a 5-year-old crummy chicken or an overpriced burger. Now we leave and grab sushi then come back. The vast majority of my friends are disappointed in Southie as well. Wasn't told earlier. Didn't see menu. Wasn't offered one. Just ordered what I thought was on menu. Offerings: sandwiches, tasty niblets, sides. Turns out what I ordered wasn't on menu, prices changed. Ordered. Text received 10 minutes later saying order was ready. Bites: Ceviche (15) not on menu ceviche tostada was. -puffy baked chips was intersecting. Good for dipping ceviche juices. -many small pieces of unidentified whitefish tasting ok. Better than some, not the uber best. -green onions, red onions, tomato bits, lime juice?, other spices, salt. Air fried popcorn chicken (9) price higher than opening day. -bigger portion than the usual, came with ranch (meh) or garlic aioli (better). Some medium sized pieces, most looked like table scraps. This places feels like a pop up business with okay food. We got the French fries and the popcorn chicken. Both were crispy, but the items felt like they were the last bits at the end of a bag. The popcorn chicken pieces were tiny and didn't feel like there was really much meat in there. This business is off to the side, next to Park Station, a brewery. It seems to share the same outdoor area. There's no sitting inside and they were taking orders at the outside table. When the order is ready, you have to go pick it up. Southie is open in Alameda! Located on the same premises as the new Park Station, where Big O Tires used to be, on the corner of Park and San Jose. I've been saying forever that places that serve alcohol really need to serve food as well. Well, Park Station and Southie have come together to provide good brews and good food in one location. Hallelujah! We tried Southie during the soft opening of Park Station, and were not disappointed. Their grilled cheese is delicious. I loved their slaw too, with a touch of jalapeño that gives it a nice kick. The menu is not huge, but the selections are perfectly designed to pair well with a cold one or two. Prices are totally reasonable too. We will be trying out the rest of the menu soon. Darn. We really wanted to love this place because the venue is so awesome -- but yikes. Grilled cheese sandwich was just "good." Meatball sandwich, meh at best. Seared tuna sandwich was edible, but I gave up 1/3 of the way through because it wasn't worth the calories vs flavor. We don't eat out often so when we do, we want it to be worth the calories, expense and effort. Sorry Southie. Grand opening day! What a fun spot! In the space of a former tire shop, this outdoor and indoor biergarten of sorts is a great addition to the Park St. landscape, and is like a more upscale version of Birdhaus in Union City. Southie serves up a variety of decently priced sandwiches, sides, tostadas, etc., but it seems like their menu may rotate. The alcoholic area is called "Park Station," but since I am not a drinker, I did not try that. Some of my associates did though, and said it's not bad. The food items I sampled were Rock Cod Ceviche Tostada Salad, Seared Ahi Tuna Salad, and Truffle Fries. No complaints about any of these! There is a massive amount of seating, both indoor and out, and even though adult beverages are served, the little ones (both human and furry) are most definitely welcome. Outdoor dining is on high tables with stools for those warm nights, but there is also a plethora of indoor seating, which is attached to the drinks area. I'll definitely be back for more! read more

Edit, June 7 2026 On this day, I went to Southie to give them a third chance. I had liked my previous experiences because of the vibe. While grabbing a menu, I stepped in poop. While attempting to order my food, I encountered poop. My food eating experience was sullied by poop. This was not a case of poop being in the back corner of the back patio that was missed. This was right next to the cashier, right in the middle of the main walkway, immediately next to an employee. It was there, in this well trod, food service oriented thoroughfare that the poop was encountered. I noped out of there pretty quick, mostly because I don't like to mix my food with poop. On this poop day, I brought my 90 pound dog. I am not unfamiliar with poop. In fact, I think it is rather permissible that a dog friendly establishment has poop on the ground. Part of the appeal is the fact that I can bring my dog, and if he has to, then he can poop, and I will clean it up. But this was right there, in the middle of the walkway, next to where you order the food, and where the food comes out. This was poop as an obstacle to food, and I think that's a pretty bad place for poop to be. Original Review to follow The food here at Southie is inoffensive and good enough, but overpriced. If you are an elder millennial with two kids and a golden retriever and are currently on blood thinners then this is the spot for you! The burger is better than the nearby Jack in the Box, but less exciting than anything at Scolari's and less classically greasy than anything at Alameda Grill. The Southie burger is just a burger, nothing special about it. The fries are similarly nondescript, lightly fried and gently salted. They are, again, just kind of generically good. It is curious, then, that the burgers and the fries are priced the way they are! The burger is $16 and the fries, which are not included, are an additional $7! $23 total for burger and fry that are simply 'okay,' is simply not okay! The popcorn chicken is pretty terrible, which is incredibly telling because Alameda's plethora of Boba places means we have a plethora of popcorn chicken as well. It is mostly breading with very little meat. I genuinely regret ordering the popcorn chicken. Overall Southie is incredibly Typical and incredibly generic. The food is of a type, and the style of the restaurant is adhering to genre convention. read more

This is a popular new addition to Alameda Park Street. They share a yard with Park Station. The only disadvantage: it is very hard to find parking nearby. However, don't let that stop you from trying the location. I shared a Banh mi with a friend. I think I enjoyed it more than she did. It was spicy. Everyone at our table enjoyed the fries; they were perfect, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The sandwich was generous; we both had enough to eat. There were three of us digging into the fries. I am sure we could have finished another order. I often find myself in Alameda, and when I do, I will stop here. read more

We have eaten at Southie only once before. My husband loved his burger, but my pork sandwich was beyond salty. Flash forward 6 months. It's my husband's turn to pick a restaurant and he chooses Southie Alameda again. I am sitting writing this review while waiting almost 40 minutes for what amounts to pub/fast food. 2 burgers, 2 fries and 1 grilled cheese sandwich shouldn't take more than 30 minutes at a fast casual eatery. Finally they opened. We have been following the work being done where I used to get tires for a hot minute. Along with Park Station this place is awesome. We have now been there 3 times and all great. So far it's been the grilled cheese and Southie Slaw. So the grilled cheese and slaw is better than I have ever done so I'm just going to give up on those. The fries were also great but I think I still may be able to outdo them there. Next time in we'll try some other items. Latest system of ordering and getting a plastic number tent is way better than waiting around by the door for them to call your name. We spontaneously decided to check out the new Park Station last night and it was awesome! After we had a couple of beers, we needed food. Southie did not disappoint! They were so popular that they had already ran out of a few items on the menu, but we ordered a couple of grilled cheese sandwiches and some popcorn chicken. All of it was delicious! But the garlic aioli was a notch above! When I ordered our food I happened to order from the manager and he told me to come back in a few minutes. I bumped into someone on the way back and started chatting and the manager happened to spot me and carried our food tray out to me! Despite how packed it was for being the new place in town, everyone looked like they were having a blast! They have a big patio area with a stage outside and a big into dining too. They even have an outdoor tv mounted onto the wall! We will definitely be back for beer and to try something else on Southie's menu dipped in that amazing aioli! read more

Finally got to try the grilled cheese. We've been to Park Station a number of times, but I was never hungry. Yesterday was the big day! Very tasty. Just the loveliest hot, savory, crunchy, buttery mouthful of grilled cheese one could imagine, and on a rainy, cold night it was heaven. We recently held an event at Park Station in Alameda and Southie handled the catering for us. Jose and his team were so fantastic and easy to work with. He provided me guidance on how much food I would need, and while the event was rolling, they paid attention to the pacing of how much food to bring out at a time.
