    California Scramble

Came in for breakfast before attending a meeting nearby. The green and white color theme has a family friendly vibe. Fairly empty, was able to get seated quickly. We had a large group but the ordering was seamless, our waitress was excellent. California Scramble, ABC Omelette, Jim's Special, waffle and pancake combos, French toast and my favorite corned beef hash and eggs were all very good. Jim's is family owned since the 1960s, serving breakfast, lunch and never ending coffee. Parking lot in back, nonalcoholic and alcoholic beverages available and good kids menu options.

Special number one is the best! The waffle recipe is like none other, and getting it.All fashioned style is classic. Comes with an egg and two sausage patties or links or bacon. Service was friendly and attentive and everyone does not mind to stop and help you with whatever you need. I love that old nostalgic diner feel. One of the best places in Alameda!

The food is AMAZING but the chicken nuggets are a bit bland. The service was great too but a bit slow (probaly because the place was crowded). [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a casual diner and family friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall grade Overall A Service A- FOOD A+++++++++++++++

Wow what didn't I love from this place!! The parking is super spacious, no need to drive around for parking even though it was booked and busy inside. The staff is so very sweet. Our waitress was the sweetest person I think I've ever met? She made amazing recommendations, made us feel welcome, just 10/10 there. We got our food super quickly! I ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito and was pleasantly surprised at the beast placed before me! They are not skimpy at all with their portion size. The burrito was filled to the brim with egg, chorizo, big pieces of onion, and green pepper (which is not my favorite and I could've done without but that's just personal preference!) the hashbrows were cooked perfectly- not a soggy piece in sight! The portions are huge for this plate though, so after focusing on the hash browns I had no room left so I would suggest sharing this plate. The pancakes were HUGE! They were a weeeee bit dry, but douse them in butter and syrup they went down just fine! The price for everything was not bad at all. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was classic diner, and they even had a cute little fish tank on the side with the cutest big fish![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ahh wish it wasn't so far from me but I would definitely make the drive out to eat here again!

I love this place & the people who work here. They always make me feel like I'm at a family members place. The food is amazing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is amazing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I HIGHLY recommend this place to any and EVERYONE. My husband and I come here weekly. Here's a few pictures of our meals.

Everything from the moment we walked in to when we left was such a lovely experience. We were sat by the lovely hostess and given menus. The menu was quite large with a lot of different options. I chose the 3rd special with French toast and links plus a side of buttermilk pancakes. The portion sizes are huge so sharing is definitely a must. The French toast was amazing. The toast was crispy and had a delicious buttery taste. The waitress was super sweet and funny and she made my time there excellent. I did, indeed, feel like family. It's right off the entrance to Alameda so definitely worth a stop for brunch!

Many a times, I had seen the line out the door on weekends at Jim's. The other day, we were hungry for breakfast and didn't want to visit our usual haunts, so we drove to Jim's. They have a parking lot to the left of the restaurant, another bonus! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It wasn't super busy when we walked in, maybe four or five other tables in use.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were told to pick a table and menus were presented as soon as we sat down and drink orders were taken. We both ordered coffee. The menu is an extensive breakfast and lunch menu. We were there for breakfast, so we didn't pay much attention to lunch items. My standard order for breakfast restaurants is Chicken Fried Steak, Eggs over easy, Hash Browns, Biscuit and Gravy. For some unknown reason, when the server took my order, the last thing I said to her was, "lotsa gravy all over everything". And if you look at my picture, the only place where there wasn't any gravy was on my biscuit. And it was all delicious! She got Corned Beef Hash with Eggs and Hash Browns with Wheat Toast. She also enjoyed her breakfast and was quite happy that her toast came buttered on both sides. These were great large breakfasts with lots of good food. We both ended up taking some home for breakfast the next day. Even the coffee was pretty good, something that's not always true at diners. Service was excellent and we'll definitely be back for other flavors.

What a treat! I met a friend at Jim's today and Dimitri was so sweet to share briefly how Jim's is his family legacy because I mentioned how he's been working there a long time. Such a sentimental story and connection to his roots. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Loved the decorations.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We decided to sit at a table today. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Super clean and tidy even with a napkin dispenser there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I rarely make time to stop by Jim's anymore but I've been a loyal customer for over 20 years. Teresa was our waitress today. Patient and attentive to detail especially since my friend is on a strict no fat diet. His salad looked delicious despite his special requests. But Oooow I have to rave about my Reuben sandwich, so moist and not too greasy which was a win in my book. Also, because I was feeling adventurous I tried the ube tower waffle which will be available until Friday, 12/12/25. That hit the spot with the ube syrup and fresh strawberries and bananas along with walnuts. Overall, an amazing experience. Thanks so much Jim's for your commitment to our community :-) happy holidays!

Got a burger after a workout and it was cooked well and everything was fresh. Perfect diner burger if that makes any sense. The fries were fresh and I got a side of ranch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was early afternoon and they weren't busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was friendly and the banter was fun. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lots of booths and tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Kinda an alternative to Ole's without the wait and cried.

We've been here a couple of times and always had a good experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is spacious, and there's a large parking lot, which is super convenient.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food portions are generous and everything we've tried has tasted great. The service is friendly and attentive--they kept our coffee refilled without having to ask.

SBC Omelette sub jack cheese for cheddar
    Kealani B.

Very fast and friendly service! They have an extensive menu but my partner and I decided on the sbc omelette (sub jack cheese for cheddar) and the biscuits & gravy. We also ordered the special #4 and upgraded the french toast to their house made cinnamon bread. The portions are big but definitely need some salt & pepper as we realized there was no seasoning. The meal was good all around and a bit pricey for standard diner food but would come again for a quick homestyle breakfast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside is very large and has an old school diner feel which contrasts the unassuming exterior.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highlight was definitely the hash browns which were very crispy and hot.

Food here is good. Service was wonderful. Savannah is a professional at what she does welcoming pleasant and open for any suggestion suggestions?. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambience's kitchen, chatter, and somewhat music in the background for TV.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This is my go to spot when I have too many picky eaters in the group! They have a little bit of everything- traditional American breakfast, hella good chilaquiles, sandwiches, and the best waffles! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a cute spot for everyone plus the staff if so friendly and attentive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The waffles is in the name of the business and it was literally my least favorite thing and I love waffles. For me I prefer Beligian waffle style, thicker and more substance in my opinion. The rest of the meal was average diner food. Ok, not bad but not great. The service was extremely nice and pleasant. I am a self proclaimed food connoisseur in my own right haha, and I am on a life long mission to find and eat amazing rememberable cuisine. So I might be picker than your average bear. The setup is mostly an outdoor restaurant vibe with a kitchen operating behind an industrial tent, which was nice enough, though nothing absolutely blew me away. The staff and service here are incredibly friendly, polite, and welcoming! I also thoroughly enjoyed the champagne. For food, the hamburger was really good and hit the spot, even if it was a little on the pricier side at just over $19. However, do not order the beignets. I've had beignets all across different continents and restaurants worldwide, and these were at the absolute bottom of the list. They tasted like basic, quick-fried puff pastry with powdered sugar thrown on top. Overall, it's a friendly spot with a solid burger. I wouldn't necessarily suggest it to a friend or rush back on my own, but if someone else really wanted to go, I'd be willing to tag along for another burger and a glass of champagne.

Nothing crazy about the dish but it was prepared well - the combo of poached egg, Canadian bacon, and avocado hit the spot. We got donuts on the way out as well - donut holes, raised glazed, twist, maple bacon, and filled donuts (they fill it to order). The donuts were fluffy, soft, and not overly sweet/oily. 1465 Webster St Alameda, CA 94501…read more I had a fair experience here on a Sunday morning for breakfast. I had a day planned that included cleaning the garage, so I figured a big breakfast would be good. I walked in just before 9am, and the place was empty. Before Cape 7, it was "Shell Shock." Cape 7 never changed the Shell Shock decor, so it has a nautical theme. A pirate stands guard by the restrooms. So I sat at a booth by the window.
