    Ultimate Scramble breakfast (Takeout)
    Steve D.

Hey! If you order the Ultimate Breakfast Scramble you better be really hungry. The one I got could feed 2 people. Including hashbrowns and toast, for about $10. Fresh and delicious, at a reasonable price. Located near Fruitvale BART station. And the pancakes have a smiley face!

If you're looking for a hearty breakfast with a good variety of menu options, I recommend ordering from Emil's. They have breakfast sandwiches, wraps, omelettes, pancakes, french toast, and the list goes on. I liked that you could choose a vegetarian option (i.e. avocado or spinach) for both the sandwich and wrap, which was exactly what I was looking for. The eggs were cooked nicely, the avocado was fresh, the hash browns were crispy, and the spinach, mushrooms, onion, and tomatoes in the omelette were really good. They didn't over salt anything, so you could season as needed. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was their cheese for some reason. The french toast batter had a hint of cinnamon, which was good, but I usually prefer my toast strictly savory...no powdered sugar, syrup or anything! (I know I'm probably one of the few lol.) Emil's followed the special instructions included with my order, so that was a plus! If I was in the area and craving breakfast, I would come back. As their name suggests, they also have burgers and other sandwiches.

Emil's have one of the freshest burger I've ever tasted I've been here a couple of times so far so good I've tried the tuna melt, bacon cheese burger, Oreo milk shake, cheese burger, French fries, curly cheese fries and everything was good too the food might take a while to come out because they only have one person making the food.

Mushroom burger and chili cheese fries.

This place has been in my bookmarks for a few months, and today I went there. It is an easy ride on the 1T down East 14th Street to Fruitvale Ave., from there it is a five minute walk to the restaurant. It was not busy at all, as there was one gentleman in there and I was able to order my food immediately. I decided on a mushroom burger with chili cheese fries along with a chocolate shake. After 19 minutes my food was ready, and it was back to the bus and on my way home. The burger was cooked to perfection and the chili fries were outstanding, and the chocolate shake was smooth. On my next trip there. I would like to try the steak cheese fries or chicken cheese fries.

    Seriously HUGE burgers!!!

Seriously a good cheap burger. I was leary of the area, clientele and clean but not sterilized appearance of the place but we had bailed off from gridlock on 880 and decided to try something new. Meat is not your highest quality and must have a high fat content, because ours were cooked well done and were still moist and not dry. I had a mushroom Swiss burger al a cart & the hubbs had 1/2 lb bacon cheeseburger meal that was seriously HUGE. Top off with fresh lettuce, hand sliced red onion and a sesame seed bun and you're in for good eats without the price tag. Fries were the thick nearly steak style french fry which we shared and still couldn't polish off. Tab + tip $19 out the door. If you're at the Fruitvale BART station make a pit stop.

I don't know what happened. Small portions and an increase in price. I spent $30 for breakfast and all I did was add avocado with no drink.

I love that you can choose the doneness of the patty. I went with medium, and it came out perfectly cooked. The bun was soft, buttery, and rich without feeling too greasy, and every ingredient seemed intentional and added something distinct to the burger. It is a very large burger, though, so be prepared for it to get a little messy. There is a restroom where you can wash your hands, but it requires a key, so bringing hand sanitizer or wet wipes may be helpful. Overall, the burgers are definitely on the pricier side, but I thought the quality justified it. I'd happily come back again.

What I don't understand is why I'm charged an additional $2.50 for the lettuce wrap when I'm not even getting the bun. If you're taking something away, what's the justification for adding an extra charge? I could understand a modest upcharge, but $2.50 for a few leaves of lettuce is hard to justify. I can buy an entire head of lettuce for about that price. What bothered me even more was that no one mentioned the charge when I placed my order. It wasn't until I picked up my food and saw the receipt that I realized I had been charged extra. Customers deserve to know about additional charges before they order, not after the fact. When I politely asked why there was a $2.50 charge, the employee simply looked at me and said, "I don't know." There was no explanation, no offer to ask someone else, and no attempt to address a perfectly reasonable question. That level of customer service was just as disappointing as the surprise charge. The burger was excellent, but this experience left a bad taste in my mouth. At this point, I don't plan on coming back. Or maybe I'll just bring my own lettuce next time. Better yet, just give me the burger without the bun, and I'll wrap the damn thing myself when I get home.

Since moving to the neighborhood earlier this year, I have walked past TrueBurger quite a few times on my way to/from the 19th Street BART Station, and I was excited to give it a try. I was initially thinking I would get a burger, but my friend had to postpone getting together until the mid-afternoon, so I ate lunch at home and opted for a milkshake when we met a couple hours later. I had seen a special coconut shake on the menu on the TrueBurger website; I'm a big fan of most things coconut, and especially ice cream. I was eager to taste the shake...and my excitement quickly turned to disappointment when I realized it was just a vanilla shake with shredded coconut. Why is TrueBurger trying to pass this off as a coconut shake? It's far less novel, but it's perfectly acceptable to only offer vanilla and chocolate shakes. The mix-ins actually put them one step ahead of much of the competition, but misleading customers is never okay. To add insult to injury, I have tried reaching out to TrueBurger via email, and management is incredibly unresponsive. They could have easily fixed this by offering me a refund or asking me to come back in for a shake on the house. Do better, TrueBurger.

I had a whole conversation with the server about my nails (little things like this make the experience more personal). My friends and I got cheese fries, regular fries, a veggie burger, a regular cheeseburger, and a hotdog. Safe to say, everything was devoured and we even went back for seconds. I think my favorite option is getting a vanilla soft serve cone for later. You basically pre-order it, then pick it up whenever you're done with your food so you don't have to rush to finish your meal. I had so much fun here and the environment was super friendly. I appreciate that they did not put too much BBQ sauce because that always drenches the buns and makes the eating process very messy. The fries were also great - fresh potatoes? Corn fritters were underwhelming for its price point, would've been fine not getting it. While the food was pretty solid, the extremely long wait and the packed seats are what makes my rating go down. Lovely's is a very popular spot, even for a weekday dinner. The vibes are immaculate. It offers both indoor and outdoor seats, very spacious. However, because of the amount of people, the wait in line was a bit more than 30 minutes. Then adds another wait to get the food. On top of all the waiting, seating options become limited and you will most likely be stuck with the outdoor tables, which can be unfortunate on a very cold evening. If you're hungry, don't come here. But if you don't mind the wait, this is definitely a great spot with great company.

And it's been satisfying and well worth it all three times. I recommend both dining in and delivery. You cannot go wrong with their double burger. The smashed patties are perfectly cooked and seasoned. The supporting elements are quality and executed spot-on each time: the cheese, grilled onions, and mayo. It's a perfect fast casual burger. I also recently tried the Chopped Beef burger and dang it was amazing. The hearty meat and cheese the and buttery bread texture hit hard. This will be another go-to and I recommend it. For sides I've gotten tator tots, regular fries, and season fries. All fantastic and they're generous with the portions. HOWEVER -- you've gotta get the seasoned fries. Addictive and finger-licking amazing. When dining in staff is always friendly. Area's not too busy and you'll always find parking easily down a side street. And price wise it honestly feels like a steal for me given the care and quality and pure satisfaction. Works for me though -- I'm going to keep ordering from this place.
