Was able to try Hypy Burger, and even though I didn't get a chance to try the burgers, everything else I had was delicious in my opinion! I tried the Oreo and Fruity Pebbles shakes, and both were really good. Service was also great! Shoutout to Nathalie for taking care of us. We ordered through DoorDash and I honestly thought Hyphy Burgers was going to be overhyped lol. I ordered the Burnout combo with added lettuce and tomatoes (extra charge) and upgraded to loaded fries and a cookies and cream shake. Because I ordered through delivery, I didn't expect to enjoy it as much compared to if I were to eat it fresh. However, the burger was so flavorful even when it wasn't hot/warm. The burger was juicy and full of flavor. The loaded fries had a generous amount of toppings and there was a little sweet and sour flavor going on, which I liked. I been meaning to try Hyphy Burger especially seeing all the hype on Instagram! I was super excited trying it as I went to the last Black Joy Parade but I was not able to as I was trying out the Black Owned vendors during the event. But today after attending an event nearby that was mainly alcohol, I made the 20 minute walk from 19th BART Station and had the opportunity to! It was a journey l during the day and did pass an overpass and some abandoned vehicles but making it was the goal! I saw the loud and colorful exterior and it welcomed me like watching Good Burger back in the day. I was rished with nostalgia and was thoroughly satisfied and impressed by the delicous sauce similar to thousand island dressing and the well seasoned fries! The burger was superb and made my trip for the hyohy burger well worth! I highly recommend. I don't know any friends that have tried this spot yet but highly recommend them to try! read more

Located in West Oakland is this little gem! My husband and I always pass by and finally stopped in. We just wanted to share a meal so we got the burnout meal and the digital check out had an option to cut the burger in half which made life easier! Was really excited to finally try Hyphy Burger as it's promos have been all over my social media over the past year and word of mouth seemed to validate it as being a legit competitor in the burger wars in the Bay Area. First things first: the vibe here is obviously the big draw, invoking such a strong sense of Oakland that is unmistakable, from the colorful building basically screaming for your attention as you drive by to the decked out school bus constantly driving around downtown blaring Bay Area hits. The interior, even during down hours is always bopping with an energy from staff that you don't often see which is infectious for anyone lucky enough to walk in. One downside was that they did take their sweet time despite only one other group was inside waiting for their food - something to think about if you were in a rush although it could have been just a one off considering we ordered burgers, fries, and mini donuts. We were so hungry that I didn't even get to take a photo of our food after we got home and basically devoured it all on the spot. The burger was solid - nicely charred with a pretty good sauce that paired well with the crispy fries. Would I say it is the top smash burger joint I've been to in the Bay? Probably not but one of the better ones for sure. Surprisingly the thing that stood out the most for me was the mini donettes that my partner picked out. I'm guessing this was what kept our order up a little longer than we hoped because they were hot as if straight from the fryer and dusted generously with the different toppings and glazes which you can choose an assortment of for your box. They had a great balance of crunch, fluffiness, and sweetness that rivals many donut shops. Overall a great addition to the Oakland food scene that everyone should give a chance to. read more

Been here twice now, I have to address how impeccable the service has been. I work in a high end restaurants n never do I expect the same level of consideration at a burger joint in the west. So when they figured out that the system glitched out and my order disappeared after we'd been waiting for 45 minutes I was pretty prepared to call it a night, i was exhausted & the place was packed to the brim. The manager came out to personally look for our order and was extremely kind despite the packed house. He ended up taking care of our meal after finding the mistake and had it out pretty quick. the food hits the spot! but the service has been outstanding on both my visits. Will be back ! read more

Stopped by Hyphy Burger for lunch. I was a little disappointed with the food. I had high expectations based on the social media videos I have seen. Burger came out and the bun was cold. A cold bun just makes the burger not feel fresh. The burger was also smaller than I expected. The fries were okay. It reminded me of in n out fries. Dipped with the sauce, it was really good. Once you run out of the sauce, it isn't as good. I didn't like that it was 50 cents for each topping too. I thought a burger included that but I guess not. It's $9 for just a cheese burger. $10 total with tomato and lettuce. Branding wise - I love it. Would be cool if they made merch and sold it at the store. Inside, the restaurant is loud with music. This place stays busy! There are always people coming in and out, which is great to see. Props to them for building such a popular spot. The exterior and interior decor scream "HYPHY" and really represent the Bay Area culture. I honestly loved the vibe and appreciated the concept behind the restaurant. The milkshake was really good and ended up being my favorite thing we ordered. My biggest complaint was the ordering system. I wish there were descriptions of the menu items. I had to ask multiple people what came in the protein bowl, which was a little frustrating and could easily be fixed. As for the food, nothing really screamed "wow" to me. The burger was decent but not particularly memorable. The protein bowl was okay, but it was served in a paper bowl that started to disintegrate because of the sauce and wet lettuce, which wasn't the best experience. Overall, I'd give this place a 2/5 for the food, but extra points for its meaning, culture, and decor. The concept and Bay Area pride are what stand out most here. read more

Stopped by Hyphy Burger in Oakland on a Sunday and had a great experience. We ordered a double cheeseburger and a jalapeño burger (both with fries) plus a Fruity Pebbles shake. The burgers were really flavorful, and even though one bun had a tiny burnt spot, it didn't take away from how good it was. The orange sauce they use is especially tasty. Fries were ok -- kind of like McDonald's style cut. Not amazing, but solid. The shake was delicious with a great consistency. Prices were very reasonable, so it definitely felt worth it. The place itself is clean with a cool hyphy vibe, fun artwork, and lots of decor and stickers that give it a very Instagram/photo-friendly feel. There's even a bus outside with their logo and stickers, which makes it stand out. We went with three kids and it felt family-friendly. The real question is what are you comparing this spot too? In-N-Out, McDonald's, BK? Then this place is definitely better. If you are comparing it to Lana's or Lovely's it's definitely a downgrade. Quick service. Ok smash burger. Solid fries. I will 100 percent be sticking with Lana's and Lovely's as my back up. But if you are in a hurry or want a lunch burger Hyphy Burger has got you. Keep hearing the hype from this place and finally got around to checking it out. Glad I did. Excellent smash patty burgers with the perfect amount of maillard. The buns hold up to the toppings. Maybe the only thing I would change is to have a dill pickle than a bread and butter pickle, but we are splitting hairs. The fries are seasoned with salt and pepper, which was a nice turn. There was a lot of people sitting around inside just hanging out, but it's was cool. I got the combo with cheese and headed back to work. The fries taste like they were cooked in chicken grease or some other fried item, but there was nothing else fried on the menu. The burger patty was super thin and maybe it was a smash burger (There was no smash burger on the menu and I've had smash burgers before). There was no real flavor and salt/pepper could have helped. The burger with buns was super thin and overall poorly made...add the fries and it was worse. I got sick the eve after eating this...I'm not saying it was from here, but it's all I ate that day before getting sick. The retro feel and Bay Area vibe makes it easy to love. Quick and friendly service. I overheard the cashier very kindly explain the difference between the hyphy and burn out burger. I didn't know what to expect but the burger and fries were amazing. It's around $10 per burger if you add a patty it will cost you.
