I love this place. I remember stopping by at some point during Covid when restaurants were dropping like flies and grocery stores were closed when I finally got off-shift at the hospital. With what we knew about Covid at the time, they adhered to all state regulations and were so careful to ensure safety. It felt amazing to eat something that was fresh/not out of a can before I collapsed at home after another exhausting shift. The food here is constantly excellent- in person or via delivery. It's always clean inside and the staff is super nice. The burgers are HUGE, sides are fried perfectly (not greasy, not under/over-fried, and seasoned well), and made from high-quality ingredients- so it's one of my favorite burger joints when I don't feel like cooking. I do wish they had a "protein style" option like In N Out for keto times, but I do think that getting the bbq/onion ring burger and a vanilla shake is worth the carbs. read more

Happened upon this place after watching a movie at Grand Lake. I got the Cali burger with avo Swiss cheese and sprouts, medium rare. It was perfect! I like that they give you lettuce and sprouts. Some places swap the lettuce if you get sprouts. Why??? All the veggies were firm and just ripe enough. Some places give you avocado that's about to turn bad. Not this place. Solid burger joint on Lakeshore! Needed some grub before my TJ's errand and decided to try a spot I haven't frequented on this street. My internal cuisine wheel spun to a classic juicy cheeseburger and garlic fries and that's exactly what I got. Guy behind the counter was jovial and funny - cracking jokes here and there. Inside had some seating but the TV sitch was a bit off- you can hear the audio of a tennis match but no visual display. Napkins, condiments, utensils and a place to put your trash are available on counters toward the back. Easy peasy! Food was freshly prepared and ready in about 15 min. Fresh lettuce, tomato, red onion, a big pickle and their secret sauce came on the side of the piping hot medium well beef patty topped with melted cheddar on a nicely toasted bun. A huge pile of hot crispy fresh garlic fries accompanied the burger and I dug in. Delicious! I finished the hefty burger and 3/4 of the fries and was pretty full. $15 well spent. I was tempted to finish everything but I had to leave some carb real estate for a Colonial glazed donut across the street. Two others got the bc lassis with avocado and fries, they loved theirs as well. Parking is easy mid day with meters or paid parking on Lakeshore. Because y'all know how I gets down when it comes to the burgers. I throws it DOWN! I LOVES me a big ol' juicy burger! Finally got my chance to check this spot out a couple months back when I hanging out at Lake Merritt. Walked in and Nimer greeted me with a warm welcome. I told him it was my first time there and he explained the menu. After looking it over, I decided to go with the California Sensation Burger. If you know me, you know that I'm generally pretty basic when it comes to burgers. Every now and then I'll get a bit fancy. But on this day, I just wanted a little bit of Zing with the basics. Prices here are actually pretty reasonable considering the other gourmet burger spots in the area. I also opted for sweet potato fries and a strawberry milkshake. Nimer was super fun to chat with. We chopped it up for a bit while I waited for my food. Didn't take too long before it was ready, and Nimer hand delivered it to me when it was done. Took it to the lake to enjoy, and from the initial looks of everything, I thought it was gonna be a winner. I was wrong... The burger patty was dry :(. And not only that; it was hella bland too. A double whammy. I was heartbroken. No seasoning hit this patty when it was cooked. It definitely looked the part but it wasn't. Veggies were fresh as hell, especially that avo. The burger was stacked too, but... such a disappointment. On the contrary, the sweet potato fries and strawberry milkshake were definitely hittin'. The fries were by far the star of the show. Maybe it was an off day for them as far as the burger is concerned. I'd like to hope so because everything else was great. Gonna give them another chance soon to redeem themselves because the service was wonderful. But for now, I'm gonna leave this at 3 stars for the dry and tasteless burger patty. read more
