Ok, Hyphy Burger, I understand the hype. My wife and I finally had the chance to stop by Hyphy Burger after seeing it advertised all over social media non-stop for the past few months, and I can happily report that it did not disappoint. I got their Hyphy burger ($7.99) -- without cheese, and opted to add pastrami ($3.99), an option that was advertised as a new offering on their menu. It's not the cheapest burger, with mine coming in a little over $12 with the pastrami addition, but it's easily one of the best smash burgers that I've had anywhere in the Bay Area. All their burgers are doubles, but with how thin the patties are smashed, you're probably getting less than a 1/4 lb. of meat in each burger. The patties are legit paper thin and because of that, they are also wonderfully crispy. Hungry diners may even want to consider ordering a second burger. The burger patties are very generously salted and the addition of pastrami in mine brought the sodium to the next level. I would probably skip the pastrami next time to bring down the cost of my burger, and to enjoy a more balanced burger. You'll definitely want some water to wash down the burger. Fries - like the burger patties, continue the pattern of being very salty. I'm a salt field and love salt as much as the next person, but even I felt the need to call this out. The sauce they supply with their burgers is honestly pretty similar to the spread you can find at In-N-Out. Overall, I would definitely stop by again to satisfy my smash burger craving. Wow. The food was smacking and worth the wait. The Hyphy Burger was full of flavor and tasty especially with the "You Feel Me" sauce. The Oreo milkshake was made to order and was done right. If you're in the mood for little something sweet. Get the mini donuts. I couldn't decide so got Oreo, Fruity Pebbles and Strawberry Shortcake. All were hella good. Smashed burgers were good, love the combo in the Burnout burger BUT one thing was the patties were small. Fries were a little too seasoned but with the "you feel me sauce" it balances out. Solid burger! I bought a Burnout Combo and upgraded to a shake, because let's be real...no one is passing on a shake line up like that. The total was just over $22. I think it's really smart that they keep their menu simple as far as the burgers go. Just 2 options. They have a hyphy burger and a spicier version. They have numerous options on how to customize your burger, which I really appreciate. I got a hyphy combo and the spicier version. Both were good. I would definitely consider this a place to order from in the future. They have a special hyphy sauce that I'm a big fan of as well. The fries are very good and they have a huge list of shake options that are really whimsical. Several are based on breakfast cereals. I had a Frosted Flakes inspired shake. It was great. So unique. Not sure about the vibe in the restaurant since I had it delivered, but I will check it out when next I visit the store. Food seemed to come quickly so I suspect service is at least acceptable. I've been wanting to try them since they opened. I love the branding. It really is SO OAKLAND. I tried both burgers, a shake and donuts. Let's get into the burgers. The patty's on the burgers are seasoned, have nice crisp edges but still a little juice. The buns are potato buns which are light and soft. However if you let it sit for too long the sauces may make it soggy. I opted to add tomato and lettuce to each burger and they were the perfect addition for some freshness. The classics Hyphy Burger is overall a good burger but the Burnout Burger is super delicious! The pepperoncinis really takes the flavor to the next level. The fries are fried in beef tallow with some type of all purpose seasoning. I don't think I want fries any other way. The shake was sooooo good! I haven't eaten captain crunch in so along so that flavor was nostalgic. The donuts are very tasty and not to sweet the crushed Oreos gave a nice crunch. Their customer service is actually really great they are quick to resolve any order issues and give customers a good experience. There is a little wait (as expected) since the food comes up hot and fresh. The restaurant could be cleaned more often like wiping down tables and picking up trash. I was really looking forward to loving this place, but I didn't. I liked it just because it was cute. They only serve three things, burgers, fries, and milkshakes. On the day that I went the burger was horrible. It was thin, too crispy for a Smashburger, it was thin and it tasted like it was cooked in old grease. Now the bread which brioche bun was lackluster. The Hyphy sauce that goes with the fries was very good. We did enjoy that. The milkshakes were chef's kiss tasted like cereal, milk so amazing. The seating is very small so if you're XXL and above, you might want to get your order to go. The parking lot was very curious there was signs for a drive-through and a park, but it was very confusing. It was unclear which entrance customer should use. It was cute for an experience. Honestly I didn't wanna have to do this but there isn't really anyone I would call management at this place. Hair was in my burger, they had some ppl in the front wearing hair nets but some girl running the fries and doing whatever else in the back wasn't wearing one and that's the hair I received in my food. You can't call this place conveniently they don't have a number or it's because they can't afford to pay for one. It's not tallow cooked so you're eating seed oils. This place is a vibe! So I came in on a Saturday before a concert with a friend, and we ordered the Hyphy meal. We were first somewhat shocked by the limited menu items, but we both said, "just means that they must make the food well"! I've been seeing this place hyped up a lot on the internet lately, and was very excited to finally try for myself. You'll notice the restaurant right away as you're approaching as it gives off the liveliest and most colourful vibes in the whole neighborhood! By the sound of it, that's honestly a great deal for Bay Area. Single patty burgers usually already cost over $10 at most places. But when I got the actual burger, I realized how thin and VERY smashed these patties actually were. And unfortunately, the patties were way too salty for my liking. Saltiness aside, I did enjoy the flavors coming from the cheese and sauce, so there's still potential here. But since the patties were also way thinner than expected, I wasn't too full after having my burger even though I'm a smol girl. I recently checked out Hyphy Burger with my local burger crew and we were not disappointed! Unfortunately I wasn't able to capture enough photos, but you'll have to go for yourself to check them out. We ended grabbing 3 different smash burgers, some fries, and a shake. I went with the Burnout Burger which comes with pepper jack cheese, jalapeños, and pepperocinis. The burger was super tasty and had the right amount of spice from the toppings. I'll say that the burgers here are modestly sized and you may want to order an extra patty if you're feeling super hungry. That said, I was still full by the end of my visit. The fries were simple, crispy, and fresh. My friends really enjoyed their Oreo shake which they finished in no time. There's a decent amount of fun milkshake options here including fruity pebbles and Captain Crunch. The service system at Hyphy is pretty efficient with cashiers taking orders as well as self order stations. While the line may look imposing, the food comes out in a relatively timely manner. The vibe of the storefront is very casual with a colorful interior that is creative/diner style. I've been waiting for this place to open for months and they did not disappoint! Upon arriving I didn't have much expectation due to me not seeing pictures of this new business food. But when I got there I got to see my options. You can either get a hyphy burger or a burnout burger. I also like how it's one size fries and one size drinks just to keep everything simple. Being that it's a new business the service was pretty decent. Not bad at all and pretty sure it's room for improvement. Made a trip to hyphy burger last weekend. Aesthetically the restaurant is cool love the bus outside. They had good music playing had a jam session going while I waited on my food. There were some flies flying around in the restaurant which is a bit of a turnoff but went ahead and ordered the hyphy meal. Waited less than 10 mins for food and while there is seating inside I chose to take my food to go. The burger is small. I get it's a smash burger but still feels small. I didn't feel like the burger was flavorful it wasn't bad but wasn't anything particularly special. Same with the fries I would have liked mine cooked a little more. Overall it was okay. Loved the concept, sealed the hyphy theme with the Hyphy bus parked outside. The food was good. I got the burnout combo, my coworkers got the hyphy combo and a lettuce wrap burger. I love the freshness of the burger ingredients, tastes like the burgers are made from fresh ground beef not frozen. The fries could use some reinventing, something about the fries gave mediocre vibes but the burgers were off the chain. This one has sliced fresh jalapenos, some pickled banana peppers, grilled onions and cheese. Pretty solid smash burger where the patties are well browned, cheese super melty and the condiments on this particular one gave spice and tang which totally worked for me. The burger didn't have that fast food processed taste, so it seems they use honest ingredients. I just didn't like their super soft bun as it totally disintegrated before I could finish it, so my last few bites were a total mess. The fries were skinny and somewhat crisp. They were seasoned with a more spicy salt which I like and served with a side of hyphy sauce which is like a spiced aioli. I didn't try a shake as almost all were blended with crushed candy or cereal, and I just can't do those super sweet thick drinks. I bet they're a huge hit for stoners tho. A hyphy meal is $10.99 - burger with two patties, a drink and fries - last I checked I paid $20 for a big Mac meal five years ago in the city of SF and the quality - you can't even compare. I definitely sense this is passion driven - and although I'm not from bayareafoodz - I was drawn in having driven by the past months countless times - its impossible not to notice this beacon of light. The menu is tiny. Burgers, fries and shakes - that is it. And I like it - usually restaurants with endless items have freshness and quality issues - I think it may get expanded in the future - but I hope not too much. So many details are done right here. One example is the bag when it was handed to me. It was clean - fries were in their place unlike 5 guys with the greasy bag they hand you with fries all over the place.
