I have been here twice and it's been pretty run of the mill. I would say the chicken they use for the sandwiches...and probably the strips....and probably the salad, is actually really good. It was hot and thick and juicy when it came out. The fries were decent, but likely just some standard frozen fries. The ranch was also really good, but $.50 each small sized cup. My biggest gripe was the service and the state of the restaurant. In the booth we sat in there was an electrical outlet is hanging out of the wall and the booths are in need of cleaning. We had to use the bathroom, and the soap was out. The staff member brought a new one, but didn't know how to install it so it just sat on top of paper towels. Not a huge deal but bruh, figure it out. The guy was nice enough, but just sat and watched his phone when no one was at counter. There was also another guy, maybe from the kitchen (?) hanging out behind the counter sometimes as well. All while tables needed wiping, the bus tub was FULL with dishes, or either of them could have tried to get the soap installed. If there was no one at counter or food to cook it was stand around and stare at our phones. It's just sad Just a subpar experience for as much as food costs these days. Train the staff to stay busy and know how to bus tables and clean. And if you ever order the BLT chicken sandwich make sure to ask for no BBQ sauce. Yuk. read more

I have been coming here over the years and never had any issues. However tonight the following happened: The friendly staff took our order : two sandwiches and an order of fries. About 10 minutes later the server brought what looked like our food to the only other table at the restaurant. The pair sitting there brought it back to the server as it wasn't what they ordered. Our server apologetically just handed us the food that another pair had inspected and returned (they said they didn't touch it). No napkins, fries, or ketchup for the fries. I went to the counter and asked for napkins and fries and politely asked about our fries. They apologized and said it would come right out. My sandwich bread turned out to be fairly burned, and it tasted burned. Towards the end of finishing our sandwiches (about 20 minutes after I ordered and 10 minutes after I asked about the fries), I asked if my fries could be to-go. The friendly server was again apologetic and said they would check on it. A minute later they came out with a box of fries and apologized they they had been forgotten about in the kitchen. This place has been around for awhile and comes highly recommended by locals. A friend and I went here on a Monday afternoon. The staff was cordial and friendly, and the chicken-themed decor, charming. Now it IS a chicken joint, the go-to chicken spot for my full carnivore friend. He loves them for their chicken, their inexpensive menu and their large portions. I'm mostly pescatarian, though I do sometimes cheat with bacon. (I always feel SO guilty afterwards too!) I ordered the honey mustard salad with bacon and no chicken. My friend ordered the chicken Mac n cheese and tater tots. The bill came up to $30, and the portions were good on on the salad, GREAT on the tater tots and decent on the chicken mac. I can't speak personally on the chicken but my friend says it's amazing. I tasted some of his Mac n cheese with no chicken, and it was really good and flavorful, nice and cheesy. I tasted his tater tots. They were plentiful, well-seasoned and fried to golden perfection, with a nice crunch. I ate all of my salad. My friend couldn't finish his chicken Mac or his tater tots and was happy to be able to take them to go for another meal. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place. read more

First time trying Lola's... the place was practically empty, so I'm guessing they do a lot of delivery, since there are recent, positive reviews. The staff were very nice (looks like a family run business), the whole place looked clean (including the restroom), and service was very prompt. The food was HUGE. My salad was enough for 2-3 people- likewise with the burger and fries. Three tenders were ordered but four arrived, so they must be paying attention to the size of each piece, which we appreciated. Every time I walk into Lola's, I say I'm going to try something different but 3 years later, I've only had the Asian Citrus salad. It's just so delicious. Chicken, goat cheese, poppy seed dressing and mandarins? Sold! Every. Single. Time. It's a hefty salad and very reasonably priced. The salad comes with their signature chicken so if you choose any other salad, I'd recommend it's one with the signature chicken. That's the star of the show. read more

Was walking down Park St. in Alameda looking for a new place to try when we stumbled on this little gem. Was so surprised to find such great prices with this kind of quality and obvious care. Absolutely delicious juicy and flavorful chicken, large variety of meal options and homemade sauce options. Chicken sandwich is a generous portion and absolutely delicious, and the tender meal came out crispy with great fries. Also don't miss out on their homemade desserts! Wow. Just wow. Buckle up because this is a doozy. Lola's has been a staple in Alameda for years. Once upon a time this was one of the best places to eat in the Bay. The quality was outstanding. Big, juicy, tender chicken strips, sauces to die for and lots of them, and the best fries around. Note the repeated use of past tense. That is because the current store is NOT the Lola's of many years ago. The last four times I have gotten food from this once great establishment have been varying degrees of disappointment. The most consistent issue is the DRY, BURNT state of the tenders. The chicken restaurant has dry, burnt and recently, flavorless chicken. The oil tastes old, they are consistently overcooked, and the size of the tenders have been getting smaller and smaller. Fries are ALWAYS cold or old, which is a shame because their fries were the best. Period. And now we come to yesterday. My partner and I wanted a treat, both craving just ONE more Lola's meal like they used to be. This time we ordered from DoorDash. The store was running a 2 for 1 deal on tenders. We ordered the 8 piece tender meal with the 2 for 1. 16 tenders for about 15 bucks? Sounds amazing! The food arrived suspiciously fast, as in from order to my door about 20 minutes. For once, the food was hot... but that's where the compliments end. THERE WERE 16 TENDERS THAT WERE LITERALLY ALL 1/3 to 1/2 their normal sizes. Some of the tenders were glorified chicken nuggets. AND THEY WERE BURNT. WHAT IN THE ACTUAL HECK IS GOING ON? Was this a scam to get rid of overstock? I expected what was sold to me, 16 chicken tenders. We paid extra for sauces because they didn't give enough for the 8 piece. ALL OF THEM WERE HALF FILLED. LOOK AT THE PICTURES. What is going on? Is this a training issue? A staffing issue? Do the owners not care? Do they not have any pride or love for the food they are serving the community? I would be ashamed to put this into a box, charge someone for it, and go about my day. Lola's. You had it all. You apparently still have a following. Do better. This is completely unacceptable and genuinely sad. Update: i called at 12:35 03/19/26 to complain about the horrible tasting mac and cheese and what i found on the chicken. instead of apologizing he said that the mac and cheese is his #1 selling item and sells about 600 orders of it a day. he said their nothing wrong with and is NOT moldy, and just wanted to fight with me. i told him he should try the mac and cheese before selling it to more people. he told me to call a 1800 number if i want to request for a refund from the 3rd part i ordered it from. i ordered from Lolas website no 3rd party. i put a complaint in but and the number listed to call is LOLAS number. there is no 1800 number available. i explained this to him over and over and he just wanted to keep getting louder. i said ok ill find a 1800 number to call. at 12:54 i called back, requested the manager again. i told him the website told me to call this number back, do you have a 1800 number to call to request a refund. he said no. and that he cant talk to me right now about this due to a lunch rush and hung up. 3:39 called AGAIN and now he was not there. the girl employee answered i asked if she new a 1800 number i could call when placing an order directly from the website she said " i am just and employee here i don't know" LIKE WHAT?! y0our an employee there, you should know! they also tipped them selves an extra $9 that I DID NOT AUTHORIZE making this horrible lunch for me, husband, and daughter $60.36!!!!! i am shook, disgusted, disappointed, and extremely upset how this manager handled this situation. he didnt even want to offer to make it right the first time around. Do NOT EAT HERE. please PLEASE save ur money. The Mac and cheese tasted moldy. I still have the taste in my mouth. The tenders were burned. Service is always great, Andrea is always friendly, first time I notice a change was when I picked up my food and the new owner started yelling at the staff member because she was wasting a big bag on my food... the bag was too big for my order for 5 people. Food then started to get reheated and my tenders were dry, the southwestern burger still good. I returned again because I really wanted to give Lola's a chance and my tenders felt like they been reheated at least twice. I attached pictures see for yourself, honestly the change of ownership has made it easier to let go of Lola's a place where I used to eat at least 2 times a week, I am just sorry for the people who works there. We came here Sunday, and were the only people in the building. The prices were good. Twenty dollars for two people? Unheard of these days. The fries were good, hot and crispy. But the chicken was terrible. You cannot have a chicken restaurant and have bad chicken. The breading was soggy, and the chicken was dry and rubbery. I was really hoping it was just one piece, but it was all of them. The hot sauce was good, but nothing special, tasted like Franks mixed with butter. The only reason I am giving this place two stars is because the gentleman working the front counter at 11:30 am on Sunday December 28th rocked. Sunday, early evening, dining in alone. Quiet, since there's only a couple other people there. I ordered the California chicken club, garlic fries and a bottle of Coke. The young man at the counter was nice enough. The order was over $25, which is kind of a lot for 1 person. The chicken club, I ordered it without the goat cheese. I dunno what was on the bread, but it was so soggy when it got to me. Like it was sauced the day before, or the tomato was put on the bread the day before. Honestly, I didn't eat it as a sandwich after the first few bites, I just ate the tenders. If I ever have to eat here again, I'll probably just order tenders. The garlic fries, the flavor was actually really good. The texture was nice and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. The big downside. They were cold when they got to me. I guess I shouldn't say cold. But they were room temp. Not warm. Definitely not hot. How is that? It's not like I was waiting a long time. lola's chicken & cabo chicken sandwich came here in a sunday after the lunch rush. place wasn't busy at all. there were only two people working from what i saw but the service was quick and friendly. the place is a bit outdated and old but the food was great! both sandwiches were cooked nicely. not dry or hard as some people have claimed. i loved the slaw on the lola's sandwich. the curly fries were crunchy and as expected. the chicken tenders were HUGE. one was too much for my toddler. that's definitely a save some for later kinda food. i would come again just to try the other chicken fixings they offer. the place isn't pretty or hip but the food is awesome. read more

The food tastes good. However, you don't always get every component that is part of the food as it's listed in the menu when you order through an app. For instance, you will not always get all components related to the order. If you request a specific sauce you're not going to get the sauce that you asked for. They will give you whatever they want. If the salad comes with tortilla strips, you'll get the salad, but not the tortilla strips, and sometimes if the salad includes avocado, you won't even get that in your salad. So there is a service quality issue for some reason. Lola's cannot get it right when you order through a 3rd party. I would like to love Lola's because I do enjoy when I go to the restaurant. But that's not always an option. So when I crave Lola's, and I order it, I still expect the same quality. Unfortunately, I almost ALWAYS get disappointed. I think unless I have time to make it to the restaurant, Lola's will not be getting my business much longer. Sometimes ordering through a 3rd party due to the convenience wins versus taking a trip to a restaurant. I think Lola's needs to revisit the issues they have with their quality control because they deserve a lot better review since their food is good. However, service quality matters. read more

Very disappointing experience overall. Even many of the positive reviews here still seem to mention something negative, which should say a lot. Seeing that the restaurant received a *Conditional Pass* on its health inspection is already concerning enough and does not inspire confidence in the cleanliness and food safety standards. Which will tell us whether it was something like: improper food temperatures poor handwashing / hygiene dirty equipment / fryers food storage issues vermin evidence sanitation failures (Per Alameda County Guidelines) What really pushed this into a terrible experience was the way I was treated when I tried to voice concerns about my order. Instead of addressing the issue professionally, the owner called me names and hung up on me. That is absolutely not how customers should be treated. Between the service, the lack of professionalism, and the concerns about cleanliness and consistency, I would not recommend this place unless you like getting sick from your food. read more

Two tenders are the equivalent to alone chicken breast. Honorable mention goes to the onion rings! Those are always so crispy and delicious. I stopped by here to grab a snack after browsing the stalls at the Alameda art and wine festival. My party of 3 dropped in around 2 pm and the restaurant was pretty empty, though surprisingly it was almost full by the time we left around 2:45. Seems to be a popular spot! They're most known for their chicken tenders, which can be either grilled or fried, but they also offer salads, soups, sandwiches, and burgers. The chicken tenders come with either 1 or 2 dipping sauces of your choice, depending on how many pieces you get. I shared 3 grilled chicken tenders ($7.75) with the basil pesto sauce as well as an order of tater tots ($3.10). The chicken tenders were juicy enough (breast meat isn't my favorite though, so they still tasted a bit dry) and the tater tots were perfectly fried and crispy. Something happened where the quality of the food has gone down tremendously the last couple of years. Both the signature and the classic chicken strips were undercooked and very pink in the middle as were the chicken pieces on top of my salad. I could only serve my kids two strips that seemed like then were cooked to a safe temperature. Undercooked chicken really is an issue, especially when you're ordering something last minute for your kids. read more

They are even better than what I remembered. The staff here are super nice and theres always this kind lady at the counter to help, classic old school hospitality. Sadly, this place has gone downhill. New owners are not keeping up with the previous standard. Salad was full of decayed lettuce. Breading was falling off the chicken. The person in charge, who I assume was the owner, got my order wrong, although one of the employees fixed it. The clincher for me was the owner yelling at his employee (who was pretty clearly his daughter) and having a very vocal argument about her work and school schedule. Not a good look. Also not very pleasant when you're trying to eat. Not even sure t's even worth giving them a little time to get it under control, but we shall see. read more

Did this place change owners or something? I haven't been by in a few years, but we saw them on Doordash today and boss ordered it for the office. Signature chicken tenders for two of us, classic tenders for the others. The classic tenders were burned to almost black and I'm told were dry AF. The signature tenders used to be seeded and crunchy and SO great, but now have a greasy, sort of bland tasting corn mealy type coating with just a little bit of sesame seed and that is it. Definitely lacking flavor and missing the formerly crunchy texture. Tots were COLD ...some of that may be because of the delivery time, but honestly, they tasted like they were cooked up this morning and then left out all day. All in all, after eating three tater tots and 2 of the 3 tenders, I have a yucky oil taste in my mouth and the whole meal is already repeating. Blech. If it's new owners, I wonder why they'd change something that was so well-liked? Didn't they buy the restaurant because it was popular and GOOD? Why change a good thing? Did they think we wouldn't notice? If it's the same owners, they should remember their roots and go back to that. The product they're putting out today is not up to par. Wow. I'm sold. This chicken is so good I told everyone about Lola's. Went in, and there was a good amount of people despite almost closing time. Very was calm and plenty of staff behind the register. Once I stepped to the door staff members greeted me and directly welcomed me in. I got the wrap with chicken and coleslaw and some fries with chicken to share. The decor is intriguing with photos of chickens in odd and fun attire. My favourite one is the one with the beret. Lovely art as I was waiting. It adds to the experience. Totally worth the wait as the food was made. Ranch was a little thin for my liking but flavour was there creamy and zesty. Bbq sauce smoky. Fries were not oily but felt like they needed like some seasoning like parsley or some petty garnish. Now the chicken in general was magical. It's all the flavours and juices that make up the chicken fabulous. Very soft and juicy; the outside crunch is phenomenal with their seasoning like sesame seeds and breading. Not oily or greasy at all. The coleslaw in the wrap was so fresh and creamy. I would like a side of that next time. The chicken and coleslaw were married so well that it's meant to be. They have environmental friendly packaging for take out. AC Transit buses 20,21, 51B, O, and 78 are accessible with ease. Nearest BART station is Fruitvale.
