Amazing. My friends and I were in the area for a car meet and popped into Firebrand to check out their pastries and use the bathroom. First off, it's spacious. Between the inside seats and the outdoor bench seating, there's plenty of space for a lot of people and when the weather is nice, it's even better. The pastries display was absolutely amazing. Not just their bread offerings, but also their croissants and bombolinis, my gosh it's hard not to throw caution into the wind and order a little of everything. I opted for the matcha croissant, blackberry cream cheese danish, passionfruit bombolini, and vanilla bombolini, and all were amazing and not too sweet. The topper was the ube latte that I got along with everything. Overall, a great pit stop if you're in the area or if you just want to come here because of this place. I love this area of Alameda, populated with so many fun breweries and family-friendly spaces. This was our first time at this spot and we noticed a sign (see below) for the best English muffins in the Bay Area so we had to grab one toasted with butter. Would love to try it as a brekky sandwich, but we didn't want to ruin our appetites for festival food lunch..the brekky menu looked amazing including biscuits & gravy, churro French toast sticks, lemon zest French toast, brekky pizza, and the pork & jam (crispy pulled pork, house made blackberry jam, fried egg, honey-buttermilk biscuit with country fried taters...sounds delish!!) They also have a beautiful selection of baked goods, pretzels, packaged breads to-go, lunch AND dinner options including soups, salads, pizzas, kiddo menu, sandwiches, sliders, and more. The ambience is simple, clean, and a decent sized place. House music. One unisex restroom. Artisanal baked goods, sandwiches, salads, soups, pizza, etc. I got the Ube Matcha Latte (3/5). Unfortunately Firebrand's execution doesn't match their pricing. Now if you're in a pinch this place serves its purpose, but for the past few times I've been here everything but their service is below standards. Our reuben sandwich was extremely skimpy. We had two slices of meat and when it came out to the table, it was already falling apart. Think "shrink-flation" and this is the poster child for it. Same can be said about the salad unfortunately. You could finish it in four bites and with greens going bad so quickly, you would think they would give you more of it for the price. Flavors were extremely sweet and the candied walnuts tasted stale. Of course to top it off was their chai latte. It felt like a chai la croix because it tasted like the chai was just breathed on the water instead of being mixed in it. Overall really disappointing place. Stopped in today for another pastry: their apricot cronut. Also decided to try their espresso macchiato, which unfortunately I did not enjoy at all. Either they underextracted it (brewed incorrectly) or used light-roasted beans, because it tasted highly sour/acidic. Not classic Italian style at all. Not getting this again and it makes me hesitate to want to try their other coffees. Their smoothies and tea lattes are much better here, e.g. greens smoothie or the matcha latte is my go-to drink here. Their pastries overall are on point - especially their various croissants, it's what they seem to do well with. And I've tried almost all of their pastry goods - as I get a different one each visit. Came in after finishing the Alameda Beer Run 10k this morning. Line was moving and not long. Great selections of pastries. Got the Choc Chip Cookie for later (which was good and had hints of sea salt). My cousin and I got the Pork and Jam Breakfast sandwich on a biscuit. My other cousin got the Chicken Club. Both looked great and tasted really good. Breakfast potatoes were crispy and came with a dipping sauce that complemented the potatoes. Stopped by for a pastry and a latte. The matcha croissant did not disappoint! I enjoyed the green tea crunch on the outside and was pleasantly surprised by the matcha filling. It was just the right sweetness. I also ordered a vanilla oat milk latte, which was tasty. We LOVE this place! We only wish there was one closer to us in South Bay! Whenever we are up in the area to sail, we stop in. The open, spacious indoor and outdoor seating is perfect for loud kids, and enjoying fresh baked goods and lunch. The line looked long on a Sunday, but it moved at a swift pace with all of the staff playing their different roles effectively. The kids and my husband loved their burgers. He said it was cooked just right and had bacon on his. The fries were so fresh and tasty; we couldn't stop stealing from our daughter. ;) I had the quinoa bowl and it was so fresh and reminded me of a summer bowl I make, but even better with the addition of cut tomatoes and goat cheese. It was the perfect, healthy salad, (without all of the hard work making). ;) We decided to indulge in the cake pop this trip. It was huge and covered in sprinkles. Horrible customer service! I went in yesterday around 5:40pm. Lady at register said everything was discounted 25% off as they were closing. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and came back to order what was a few leftover pastries from the counter. A different lady rang me up and I was charged for everything at full price. After I realize that I brought to her attention and she said is she will charge me buy one item and the 2nd item was 25% off. I bought 4 items and expected 25% off my total purchase as that was what was communicated by previous lady. Asked the same lady who said everything was 25% and she looked scared and intimated by the lady at the register and said she was confused and didn't communicate to me appropriately. Hadn't been to the new location in Alameda and was open to give them a try. The new space is quite expansive and is located on the old air force base. There is ample seating available inside and outside/covered picnic style benches. The menu options cover breakfast/lunch options, baked goods and breads. We decided to try the Reuben sandwich and the cobb salad. I tend to like my reuben toasted with sauerkraut and plenty of thousand island dressing. I wasn't thrilled with the sandwich overall as it missed the mark for me. The cobb salad was pretty good and I would definitely try it again. I love the lofty ceiling and cool, airy interior. It's a great place to do work out of and they have free Wifi, as well as cool drinks (ube latte? Yes please! And they also have other variations of ube drinks and more, as well as soups, pastries, and sandwiches. They are, of course, known for their breads. Everything is made to order so even though there was almost no one there, it took some time for my order to come out. I went to order the chicken pesto focaccia and the Oldet Gentlemen at the counter was so rude. He corrected me and called it a pizza with an attitude. This is my first time here so I was maybe a bit slower to order and know the menu names and sizes but there was only one pesto chicken thing on the menu and it's in the shape of focaccia bread. I stopped ordering anything else because the gentlemen was so rude. I will now hesitate to visit this place and will never buy anything. if he is the cashier again. I usually order a lot of different things when I'm trying new places and I like to be loyal and frequent places and always leave a tip but I will def think twice before visiting next time. The location has ample seating, open space, clean, and plenty of options for a customer. I ordered a savory danish and drank water- I did not want anything too heavy as I had something active to do. We made a pit stop here on our way to visit some friends nearby based upon their recommendation. When the GPS routed us into the former naval base at Alameda Point, we thought it was routing us incorrectly. Turns out Firebrand is indeed at Alameda Point, occupying a former warehouse. They have a private parking lot out front, but spots are limited so you'll most likely find yourself parking on the streets during busy times. We arrived right around the afternoon during the weekend and found the line out the door. With every table inside and outside occupied. This apparently is due to bad timing on our part according to our local friends. As we noticed there are sport teams nearby for kids. And parents flock here afterwards for some lunch to feed all of the hungry mouths. Although we did not partake of any of the brunch/lunch menu, we did purchase a large assortment of delicious baked goods. Everything we purchased was delicious. With really flakey outer shells, and buttery soft bread on the inside. We look forward to coming here again in the near future. But will definitely time it better to avoid the lunchtime rush. Got the roast beef and Brie poached pear sandwiches with sourdough bread. Roast beef was plain and tough. Brie pear was just so so, kind of soggy. The fries were good! Unfortunately only the fries were good. Ordered the buko pandan latte and Ube latte. Couldn't taste the pandan at all, instead, the hazelnut flavor from the coffee was too overpowering. We also got an almond croissant, no almond taste to it. Service was great. The gentleman who took the order at nice and friendly; however, he didn't use a tong or something to pick the pastries for us, instead he just used his hands which he had gloves on, but he's been handling his chair and register machine with that same glove on before he handled my food. It was not sanitary. And I noticed a fly was on another piece of pastry in the display case which had no door. Overall, it's not a place where I go for good food and drinks . It's not horrible either. But I wouldn't go back knowing flies and bugs can get on the pastries so you don't know how the kitchen inside is like. Food safety is important to me. read more

It was literally ember. Unbelievable. Bought a small guyere pretzel bun, cost around $5, a little pricey since it was so small, but whatever. Very little cheese, tasted forgettable. Without a doubt the best eclair I've had in my life -- WOW! I might just have to move there! Hubs and I were in the area for the brewery scene (also excellent), but this bakery is definitely what I'd feel the urgency to come back for. They've got a wide selection of bread loaves and other sweet treats, along with a cafe menu for in house ordering. There's a nice indoor seating area as well as a large outdoor space overlooking the former Naval base. The quick service order system is efficient and friendly. Tried Firebrand in Alameda for the first time on a Sunday afternoon, and it was definitely bustling -- but in a lively, neighborhood kind of way. It's set in what looks like a repurposed aviation warehouse, which gives it a cool industrial vibe with high ceilings and lots of natural light. There's plenty of seating both inside and out. You order at the counter and get a number for your table, which kept things moving smoothly. I was with my sister and brother-in-law and we shared the California Salad and Wagyu Roast Beef sandwich. The salad was super fresh and colorful -- packed with avocado, spiraled beets, shredded carrots, watermelon radish, cherry tomatoes, and crunchy tortilla strips on a mix of greens, all tied together with a tangy balsamic dressing. 8/10. The sandwich was hearty and delicious -- tender wagyu beef, melty provolone, and just the right kick from the horseradish sauce. 8.5/10. I also got a London Fog, which is my new favorite cafe drink order. They also had a variety of breads that looked amazing, plus breakfast items, soup, pizza, and even a kids menu -- so something for everyone. They do have an option to 'rent' a reusable to-go cup, not sure how that works, but I will bring my Yeti next time. I heard good reviews about Firebrand but was either too tired or too full to try it. Well, this time we were tired, but needed something to eat before the trek home. I spotted this on Yelp, we drove by and when I saw the word "cafe" that hooked us in. I'm so glad we went with our instincts. We split a sandwich and the bread is amazing. I also got a cookie. I wished I had a reason to get bread because I would have picked it up for the week. If you do spend time at the breweries and need a quick bite, or need to pick up bread for the week, this is a good stop. Since our visit was in the afternoon, there weren't too many baked goods that all the Yelpers raved about, but from the bread alone, I'm sure it's worth it. read more

I like that there's extra parking in the back in case those along the front are taken up. I interfaced with staff at the register, and found them helpful and friendly even after the lunch rush. I ordered a jalapeño cheddar monkey bread and an ube latte. The pastry was a nice balance of savory, some tang from the jalapeño, and a little sweetness/flakiness as well. The ube latte was strong, carrying me through some work at the cafe for about 4 hours. If you're looking for a place away from the busier streets of Alameda and Oakland, I highly recommend coming here for a treat and a more isolated place to work. read more
