Not sure where I heard about this place, but I've had it bookmarked for a while. Since I was in the area, we decided to stop by to check it out. I didn't realize that it was inside the marketplace at the far end near the door. I ordered the Tahina bowl with chicken and my order was ready within 10 minutes. I love Mediterranean food and enjoyed all the different ingredients in the bowl, especially the saffron rice and tahina sauce. It would've been nice if they gave a few pieces of bread/pita chips to dip in the hummus. They do charge extra for protein so it came out to $17 for just one bowl. It's definitely on the pricier side but what isn't pricey nowadays. I would love to come back to try their wraps and pitas next time I'm in the area. I decided to check out Tahina and order ahead for takeout when I was in Alameda; the store is located inside of a marketplace. I ordered the tahina bowl, pomegranate lemonade, and halwa, which were ready a little earlier than the scheduled pickup time based on the email notification I received. Unfortunately since I was going home via bus and walking, on the way, the lid of the bowl got slightly loose, so some of the tahini sauce (that's what it tasted like to me, even though it's called "tahina" in the description) leaked out of the bowl and broke a hole in the bottom of the bag, so just be careful about transporting it carefully. Pomegranate lemonade: I unfortunately found the lemon part of it is overpowering so it was harder for me to pick out the flavor of the pomegranate. Aside from the color being different, it mostly just tasted like lemonade. Tahina bowl: The vegan lamb does taste kind of like lamb, but maybe not worth a whole extra $8. I liked the saffron rice and tahini sauce though, so overall the food was savory and pretty tasty. Halwa: It had heavy sesame flavor, but I liked it especially since there was a lot of rose petals. Chicken plate protein was similar to shredded chicken. You only get 1/4 to 1/2 cup of protein so it was disappointing. Lamb and beef Kabob plate,the kabobs were so thin and you only get two pieces. *This is for the Greek frozen yogurt* While I love it and get it almost every time I come here, the topping amount can be inconsistent. The last time I came here, one of the three frozen yogurts we ordered was completely melted. The staff fixed it, but it was weird that it was sent out to customers given how soupy it was. My new current favorite Mediterranean food source. It's basically a takeout counter in the Alameda Marketplace. If you still want to eat there- there are a couple of tables outside by the parking lot. We've ordered from here twice so far and to be honest the falafel is the winner for their protein choice. I'm hoping they were one-offs but each of the meats we ordered in the "plate" choices- chicken, beef, and lamb , were a bit dry. They come in the thinly shaved pieces so maybe that has something to do with it. Luckily the rest of the ingredients in their dishes are amazing in freshness, consistency and portions. I feel like I'm eating pretty healthy when I eat these meals. I may try the meat(s) again to confirm if we were just unlucky, but then again maybe not considering.... ...The falafel- Yum! Flavorful, tender. Not dry in the slightest. We had it in the bowl and the pita. And the pita bread is another standout. It's the thicker kind and is super fresh with a slight chew I never knew I wanted in a pita. Probably the best I've had. This place is not super busy on a Saturday afternoon! My boyfriend and I were able to lap around the building and we were able to get her food pretty quickly after that. There is seating outside, but since it's getting colder, keep in mind that you might want to bring a jacket. The dolma was absolutely phenomenal, it's probably the best I've ever had in a very long time. They were juicy, but not in a soggy way. My Tio was so colorful and flavorful, I couldn't get enough of the rice, and I honestly wish there was more in it. They are very generous with the hummus and amount of lettuce. The falafel was also amazing, I truly wish they gave you at least 4 to 5 pieces instead of three.
