This time I was there to try the fish and it was AMAZING. The fish was fresh, cooked just right, and had a nice balance of flavors without being overwhelming. The texture was tender and flaky, which is exactly what you want, and it didn't feel greasy or heavy. What stood out most was how well-seasoned it was--the spices complemented the natural taste of the fish rather than masking it. The portion size was satisfying, and the presentation made the dish feel thoughtfully prepared. Had tried the fahsa again and as usual it was great. Service is always on point.

Food was very good, especially the foul. I'm no expert but seems very authentic. Service was chaotic and not great (food took a while, miscommunications), but not actively bad. Quality of the food definitely compensated so still a good spot.

Take heed with the low rated comments here it's mostly true unfortunately: - bland food except for the lamb broth - which tasted like salt water with lamb bouillon flavor, poured down the drain - the lamb in the entree was horrendously tasteless and worst of all dry - $34 and mostly rice, all went in the compost - bread, chewy cardboard. Very dry - definitely old/stale, composted - 2 stars for the lamb liver hummus - didn't taste like liver at all and the hummus was a nice smooth and creamy consistency Very expensive meal $78 via DD for what was actually enjoyed and consumed. Do not recommend.

Sheba is a local Oakland restaurant serving the food of Yemen in a casual setting. We were started with complimentary bowls of lamb soup, fresh-baked flatbread, hummus, garlic paste, and spicy zhoug, all of which were flavorful and delicious. From the menu, the Hummus with Foul was a creamy chickpea and tahini puree topped with a creamy mixture of mashed fava beans cooked with onion, tomato, olive oil, and egg; and the Fassolia with Eggs was a mass of crushed white beans mixed with eggs, onions, and tomatoes, topped with a heart-shaped drizzle of tahini. Both of these bean-based dishes went nicely with the flatbread on the side for dipping, but the standout dish was the Sheba Special for two, a sampler platter that came with three types of meat: beef galabah, chicken galabah, and lamb haneeth, all served over rice, stewed potatoes, and onion/parsley salad. The beef and chicken were made of cubes of meat sautéed with onions, tomatoes, garlic, parsley, green pepper, and seasoning; but my favorite item (and the restaurant's most popular dish) was the lamb haneeth, bone-in pieces of super tender slow-roasted lamb. Overall, the food here was simply delicious, and the homey atmosphere made for a nice setting to enjoy an authentic Yemeni meal!

Sheba opened where Anh Hong once was. Decor upgraded. Infrastructure same. Table service or order at counter. Arabic music in background. Offerings(Yemen, halal): sandwiches, child's meal, cultural platters, drinks & smoothies, desserts, sheba platters.. Sips: Yemeni tea (comped, self service) -pre sweetened Yemeni tea with lotsa sugar, strong bold taste. Prefer minimal sugar. Lamb broth -cup of soup heavily lamb flavor with fragrant Yemen spices. Deliz. Bites: Yemen bread (2.99) -round like roti, had consistency, flavor of Indian naan. Best used to wrap a portion of stew, eat like a wrap. Green dip with green chili dip. Sheba mixed platter (20.99) -a stew like casserole with Yemen spices, ground beef, liver, eggs, onions, curry mix, bell pepper, tomato sauce, tender beef. Served with green chili sauce dip. Spoon portions onto torn yemen bread, eat like a wrap. Chili sauce is HOT! -lst time eating this. yum! May order platter with single ingredient. Flavor same. -ready in 15ish minutes. Definite repeat. January is Muslim American Heritage Month in Michigan.

Sheba special for 4 ( lamb pieces )

When coming make sure you look at the menu ahead of time. There are so many delicious options to choose from. You have to order a few plates to experience the delicious Yemen flavor and style. I tried the Sheba special for 4 for 89.99. Came with two lamb flavored soups, 4 pieces of lamb we'll done, half chicken, chopped beef and chicken mixed with bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, two small potatoes on the sides with celery and carrots served over long grained rice. I think the most delicious part of the meal was the pieces of lamb. The lamb was so delicious and tender! To finish off we ordered Adani tea with milk. Total price spent $105.19. It was a wonderful experience however you can do without the chicken and the extra rice. For the price you would expect this with some additional sides like cucumber yogurt, hummus and or some yemeni bread to add more of the experience for 4 people.

Nice place to visit 10/10 It is one of the best Yemeni food in pay area I totally recommend

One of the Worst Yemeni Restaurants in Oakland, California.. I've given this restaurant three chances, and each experience was disappointing. The cleanliness in the kitchen is nonexistent, with visibly rotten vegetables being used. The bread is stale and reheated, and salads are clearly not fresh--likely reused from the previous day. The service is just as poor. Staff show zero hospitality--no smiles, no warmth, and no effort to make guests feel welcome. Orders take over 30 minutes even when the restaurant is empty. The food is either burnt or clearly not fresh, and if you complain, they refuse refunds. Instead, they force you to wait another 30 minutes for a replacement of the same subpar dish. Avoid this place at all costs. There are far better Yemeni restaurants in Oakland that actually care about quality and customer satisfaction.

Probably one of the best Yemen, any food in the Bay Area. I've tried multiple spots here in the Bay Area and whole California and this one is top-tier good food fresh seasoned perfectly and customer service on point.

A hair of something questionable and the salad tasted like vegetable oil no spices or salt tasted bland and the rest of the food plain

The dish is really bad no taste and it has hair I will not recommend it, and I will not go there again and the salad has vegetable oil in it

This is a meat-forward menu in a serious way, and if you are vegetarian, this is probably not the place where you will feel especially catered to. For everyone else, the food is consistently excellent. The flavors are deep, well-spiced, and clearly cooked with care. Nothing feels rushed or careless. Everything we tried was good, but the lamb shank is on another level. Fall-apart tender, richly seasoned, and deeply satisfying in that slow-cooked way that makes you stop talking mid-bite. This is what the chef's kiss gesture exists for. Kamdesh is confident in its lane and does not try to be everything to everyone. If you love meat and bold, comforting flavors, you will be very happy here. If you do not, you should plan accordingly. Five stars for execution, especially that lamb shank.

They're opening a halal kitchen next door, and we got to try everything on the menu. They have burgers, shawarma, and wings, and everything is made in-house and fully halal. We tried all of it, and the flavors were truly outstanding. I really enjoyed everything we had. The wings were super flavorful and lowkey reminded me of San Tung in SF. The burger was a standout. Juicy, well-seasoned, and just really hit. I'd genuinely come back just for the burger alone. The shawarma was also really good, fresh, and full of flavor. Overall, everything we tried was solid, and you can tell a lot of care goes into the food. This is shaping up to be a great halal food spot in Oakland, and I'll definitely be back.

When I came in, I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do, and the server said I could sit anywhere, though when I was ready to order, they made me come to the register. I would've ordered to go to the register first to place my order and then sit down. I ordered the Lamb Kabob, which came with a side salad, hummus, tzatziki, and rice. The rice was kind of mushy and a little spicy. It didn't really taste fresh. There was also way too much of it. They could go down to 75% of that volume. The side salad, which consisted of tomatoes and cucumbers, was fine. The tzatziki was pretty good and creamy. The lamb was dry and tough to chew, so I used the tzatziki, which helped slightly. The real surprise was the hummus. It was SO good! It was creamy and flavorful. I would eat more hummus if store-bought hummus tasted like this. I couldn't finish all of the food, so I took home leftovers in my own Tupperware. I wasn't looking forward to eating them again, but the leftovers were better than I expected. All in all, while I'm glad this place uses a lot of reusable foodware (see Eco Notes below), the food wasn't tasty enough to keep me coming back (aside from the amazing hummus). I hope that I happened to get their worst dish or they had an off day.
