The manager, or someone with authority swooped in giving a look of disapproval at the employee when he saw our interaction and asked what I wanted. I tried to explain, but the original employee interrupted and said beef lamb platter? I just said yes to end it. I was in a time crunch and wasted 15 minutes of it because of the lack I didn't have an appetite after all that because I wasted energy to the point of exhaustion (I was in 89 degree heat for hours and when I was seeking sustenance it was even more frustrating/exhausting). The portions were great and everything tasted well-seasoned and made with care. What I really love is the variety on the menu too--they've got options like a halal bacon cheeseburger and a spicy chicken sandwich, so there's something for everyone. Always appreciate finding a place where everything is halal without compromising on taste. Montclair has a new falafel spot and it has been buzzing since they opened last week. The location has a very simple menu that is anchored by falafel and chicken that can be prepared in a number of different ways (wrap, gyro, platter). They also have a number of side options to pair with your entree if you're feeling hungry. Everything here is reasonably priced, even for Montclair, so that was welcomed to see (one entree and a side will keep you under $20) With any new opening, there's definitely going to be some hiccups. This place is still figuring out some other kinks in terms of taking orders and filling them correctly. However, the manager on staff was really kind and patient about it and more than willing to serve the customers to make sure the orders were filled correctly. With time I believe they'll figure this out. The falafel is really good. I ordered the falafel wrap and the badmash fries. The pita was cold, and filled with an abundance of lettuce. The falafel was served warm, and probably the best part about this. I didn't care too much for the wrap. I wish it would've been toasted or warmed to match the consistency of the falafel. It also was lacking a little bit of flavor so you might want to add hot sauce to it to give it a little bit more punch. The side of fries was pretty abundant and had good flavor. Next time I would probably just order a side of falafel and maybe the fries to add them in and create a combination plate and that would be a significant amount of food right there. Overall, I would give it a shot because you're not going to get hit over the head with pricing as some of the other competing restaurants in the area might do. I ordered the gyro wrap. There was a generous amount of meat, which was moist and delicious. The pita was excellent. The tzatziki was a little thin and the tahini was barely noticeable. But overall, the wrap was tasty and filling. The food prep only took a few minutes. Years ago, there was a Greek restaurant in Montclair which lasted a few years. Their falafel is quite good..! It's a bit fluffier than it should be but still quite enjoyable ..I ordered both the falafel sandwich and plate.. My only problem is that the falafel plate comes with indian jeera rice not the yellow rice that Mediterranean yellow rice. Although the rice is good but it put a dent in my experience b/c the flavor profile got mixed up...If I wanted to have indian jeera rice, I could go to an Indian place..I hope they correct it...But I'll still be back for the food & service :) read more

Truly awful! I don't understand how this place has 4.4 stars. Greek salad - undressed watery lettuce and black olives? No. Hummus was inedible - runny, like a sauce, and it tasted foul, with an underlying chemically taste, like perm solution. Falafel wrap had three huge falafels, which made it impossible to eat without deconstructing (the actual falafels were fine). The meat in the gyro wrap didn't even taste as good as the Trader Joe's gyro meat. The cold shoestring fries were terrible. Clearly, won't be returning. read more

First of all, I was driving slowly in Montclair Village on a cold, windy night and I was STARVING. Then something caught my eye, the words "Falafel Corner" and a red neon sign that said "OPEN". I almost crashed the car. Upon entering the eatery, I took a glance at the menu and quickly zeroed in on the chicken/gyro combo platter. I specifically requested "For here, please." After a few minutes the lovely hostess, Jashan, presented me with a beautiful plate of hot food. Chicken, gyro, rice, hummus, salad, tzatziki, tahini, and the softest pita ever. I could not put it all in my mouth fast enough. Everything was delicious and fresh. The chicken was incredibly tender, the gyro flavorful, the rice wondrous, and the hummus came with a drizzle of olive oil. The hummus was smooth and lemony, just the way I like it. The tzatziki and tahini added extra umami to every bite. I ate it all except a few bites of rice and chicken which I took home. Did you think I'd leave any of that good food behind? Rating: 5 Stars (BTW if you, like me, wonder why many Mediterranean and Middle Eastern eateries often include hamburgers on their menus, it's because the meats are all Halal. We are regular customers of halal guys in SF and shwarmaji in Oakland. Super pleased this spot opened in Montclair. Beyond kind manager Kunal. He made sure we had a great experience. The food was beyond delicious and presented so beautifully even though at its core this is a grab and go spot. Huge portions, both of us got the combo plate. Everything is thoughtfully done. Pita is like a puffy cloud delicious. The tahini drizzle on the gyro and chicken is super yum. Strong hummus and tzatziki. Flavorful rice. Even the lettuce in the Greek salad is treated with delicious flavors. Get the chocolate baklava. OMG this is next level. It has the many many layers of a European croissant with influences of dulce de leche cinnamon. Ridiculous. Kunal gave us a second one on the house which we were so happy to get! Excellent food and some of the best falafel I've had in the Bay Area. Had a falafel wrap and it was huge and flavorful with amazing creamy sauce to top it off. The falafels were not balls but thick round disk and they were lightly brown and not too dark. The insides were soft and the herbs were strong enough. They were also extremely hot and burnt the top of my mouth but that's what made it so good. The falafels were huge and made the wraps a challenge to eat without making a mess. But that kept it fun and I usually try to stuff as much food as possible into any wrap just to see how much it can take. This was borderline overfilling and was great. Also gave me a side of hot sauce but it was kind of acidic which I didn't care for too much. read more

The interior is a little sparse and not too comfy with high tables and barstool height seating, but it is clean with self service water to the side. The staff are very friendly and ready to assist or answer questions. The Gyro wrap was a big hit with us, perfectly spiced meat and toppings and the wrap itself was spot on. We also ordered the Falafel wrap which was less successful just because the Falafel does not really fit in the wrap - it would need to be smaller. But that said the Falafel is really good and they make them to order so they come out perfectly crispy and hot. My suggestion would be to order a non-Falafel wrap and get the Falafel on the side (like you would fries). We also got a little taste of the Baklava and they can definitely brag about that dessert - so good! read more

This is a solid option for takeout in Montclair Village (they have a few tables but it is the old Rustica Montclair location so it is a small storefront). I had the chicken wrap and the chicken was seasoned well, came with a delicious creamy tzatziki sauce but I really loved the shredded iceberg lettuce that came on it. My wife had the falafel wrap, which came with three massive falafel patties so you had to strategically plan how you eat it so as not to lose one. The side hot sauce was no joke but delicious. We enjoyed the badmash fries as well that included nice skinny fries and a creamy spicy sauce. Service was friendly and the food was ready very fast. We'll definitely be regulars here. read more
