Gyro Rice Bowl with Lettuce and Tomato
    Phillip V.

Fallafel Corner on La Salle in Oakland is a great little hole-in-the-wall spot worth checking out. Parking is paid street parking, but it's manageable. I got the gyro rice bowl, and it was delicious -- perfectly sized, zesty, hearty, and a great value. The flavors were spot on, and it really hit the spot. Pro tip from Khalil, the manager who helped me out: add lettuce and tomatoes to the bowl for extra freshness and balance. A solid find for tasty Mediterranean food done right. Will absolutely return.

We love stopping at Falafel Corner for dinner. Food always comes out fresh and delicious. Portions are huge and we usually end up with leftovers. Everyone there is always very friendly. The restaurant is well lit and kept very tidy. Music's at the perfect volume also so we can carry a conversation just fine. Parking can be rough in Montclair but so far we've never had a problem.

Literally on the corner in Montclair and a vibe. The music and the staff were amazing! Looking for something that taste amazing and a first!? Get any burger and ask for gyro meat instead of beef. On God!! The best food decision you will make this month! My wife got the gyro quesadilla... it was gone before I could take a PICTURE LOL!

Falafel Corner in Montclair is such a solid spot. I got the gyro platter and it was --fresh, flavorful, and super satisfying. Service is great! The portions were great and everything tasted well-seasoned and made with care. What I really love is the variety on the menu too--they've got options like a halal bacon cheeseburger and a spicy chicken sandwich, so there's something for everyone. Always appreciate finding a place where everything is halal without compromising on taste. It's located in a really cute Montclair neighborhood with street metered parking and surrounded by charming mom-and-pop shops, which makes the whole experience even better. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area!

Food tastes like frozen food and the wrap is a mess and needs a fork. Two bits of tomatoes and drenched. Just a tasteless mess

Most recently, we dropped in before going to a show at the Ivy Room (another favorite). We got there early so we we could enjoy a leisurely meal. We were e seated in the bar, which worked well as we had great service and I personally like the higher bar tables. We tried the mezzo plate, kofta, a fantastic halumi salad, and the phyllo chicken pie. Everything we had was delicious! Cocktails and wine options were also outstanding. We finished with halva topped scoop of ice cream and delightful coffee! Great spot? Great food! Great service! We love this place!

The fresh-squeezed mint lemonade was really good, especially for $5. The Arabian Nights cocktail was just okay, so I'd skip the alcohol next time. Of the four entrees we tried, the Maklouba (lamb) was the favorite overall. I personally loved the chicken kabob. The chicken couscous was also very good. The Samakeh (fish) was our least favorite--pretty bland and not very memorable. One thing I noticed was that the carb-to-protein portion felt a bit heavy. We had at least 1/3 of the rice/couscous left over, while all the protein was gone. Overall, a solid meal. I'd definitely come back for the Maklouba and chicken kabob!

We were then seated, the first girl asked if we wanted anything to drink which we did but we never got our drinks til another waitress came and asked us 20mins later. We told her we were ready to order and we had to wait another 10mins for another waiter to order. We got the chive/shallot yogurt, lollipop lamb chops, Koobideh and Joojeh Kabob. The kabeb dishes came with grilled tomato, grilled pepper, rice with tadig on top. They also make this pink butter to put on the rice. Food is good and everything was seasoned well and not over cooked. I want to give this place a try again but they need to work on their customer service. They catered more to other tables and we didn't even get offered the dessert menu like the other tables around us. Also, we had to ask for the check and no one even came to check if we were ready to pay we had to go up there.

The restaurant was pretty warm from the oven and no ac was on, there is a fan near the door. We ordered many appetizers, the best was the potato bolani, and eggplant borani. But working with them directly helps them earn more than when it's through one of the delivery sites). I've always liked Kamdesh, sometimes during a busy lunch rush I've had to wait a little bit, but I felt like getting them a shot. I worked out a menu for a buffet lunch with different items and they delivered to my office in downtown. We had folks with dietary restrictions, and the person I talked to was able to walk me through some options. There were able to work within my price range per person and I could choose different items like kebabs, borani, etc. and they included cooked veggies, saffron rice and salad. It probably ended up being too much food but that's a good problem to have. Everyone enjoyed the meal, and we had leftovers in the fridge for a couple days.
