Chicken Skewers and Lamb meatballs

We decided to cater La Mediterranee for an event at UC Berkeley, and we all loved it! The spreads were beautifully displayed, and all of our students enjoyed them. The pomegranate chicken drumsticks were a particular favorite. They were so tender they just fell off the bone. We are so excited to cater with La Med for future events!

Falafel Salad

Came here cause I was craving a salad. I got the falafel salad which was a huge portion and included tons of veggies and some delicious dressing. I got chili sauce on the side and mixed it into the tahini dressing for a kick. I also had a small spinach and feta pastry that was delicious. Next time I'd want to try one of their rice plates

Lamb Shawarma over rice

It was delicious, but this was my second time goin and I think the first time was better. I didn't really like how the meat was cut this time - it kinda felt like they just used lamb that would've been put in a wrap which resulted in a less juicy/slightly drier meat than what I had before (same dish). The portion size is perfect though, with the rice, meat, and salad and is so easy to scarf down

Happy Hour Food Menu. Food was delicious. Options for plant based dieters. Service was attentive. Potato salad was my fav.

You don't have to sell me on La Mediterranee. I've been a longtime fan of both their San Francisco locations on Fillmore and Noe. I had delivery from this place during the COVID days but never physically been to the Elmwood location until Jamie W and I casually strolled the 'hood on a lazy Saturday afternoon when we didn't feel like going home to cook. We decided to grab a late lunch here, conveniently a bigger space than the other locations. I always order the same dish, the $17.95 Middle Eastern Plate, because it's basically the restaurant's greatest hits on one plate. Along with their housemade hummus and fresh pita, the dish featured a choice of three mini-entrees. I went for the Chicken Cilicia Fillo, Spinach & Feta Fillo, and Lamb Lule (Photo 9). Jamie had the same chicken and lamb and the Levant Sandwich (Photo 8). This was definitely the way to go for lunch because it's not only $3-4 cheaper than the dinner price but it was pretty tasty in bar bite portions. Jamie went for the Vegan Lentil Soup on the side, while I went for the green salad. I have to say for all the edible riches, the service was unfortunately rather spotty. Still worth a visit. FOOD - 4 stars...that Middle Eastern Plate is still stellar AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...a bit more spacious than the SF locations SERVICE - 2.5 stars...timing and responsiveness felt off TOTAL - 4 stars...still worthwhile for the fillo and hummus RELATED - Exploring Berkeley? Half of the memo to share

We went for the next player to share between 2. I believe we had 8 different dishes to share , all so delicious and tasty. We arrived on a Sunday night at 6.30pm and it was super busy but got a tiny table on the heated patio. As we were sharing dishes the small table was kind of fun as we had to move dishes Tetris style. Staff were discrete yet very helpful. I feel that. we did have a true sample of what the countries around the Mediterranean Sea have to offer.

When was the last time I came here... I think almost 10yrs ago... and yes, I came to have a good dinner. First, food never change from what I expected, the same tastes and servings... I enjoyed the small plates and shareable. Check my pics for reference...every bite brings me back to the old days I used to come here. Second, the ambiance is still carries the old family feel, the old homey feeling of getting dinner. Now, I'm alittle sad, how the service changed, the new servers are not as welcoming or pleasant anymore.. I didn't get that feeling of family welcome... I remember how old times, servers here used to talk to you and make you feel home and make you feel the dinner they served you is the same food you get at home. But, it's the food that matters most, maybe next time I'll just get a take out.

The guy In the middle needs to be trained. Used the words bitch so many times & thinks his job is strutting up & down doing nothing.

My five-star rating is for Tallulah (sp?), an outstanding server who truly saved my visit. I've been to this restaurant once before, a few years ago, and had such a frustrating experience with the service that I didn't return until today. Unfortunately, much of what bothered me then is still happening now. When I came in to order dinner for four, I wanted to explore my options and was handed a catering menu by a very young server. After spending time reviewing it and asking questions, I later learned--thanks to Tallulah--that catering orders can't be placed without the catering manager present. In other words, the menu I had been given wasn't even an option. Tallulah was the only one who took the time to explain the situation clearly, help me find a solution, and make sure my needs were met. She was efficient, professional, and genuinely hardworking--while others lingered at the counter, disengaged. The supervisor on duty, unfortunately, didn't step in to guide the inexperienced server or use the moment as a teaching opportunity. It honestly feels like the management here prioritizes hiring very young, inexperienced staff without giving them proper training or accountability. The result is a chaotic, unprofessional atmosphere. The only bright spot was Tallulah, who carried herself with the competence and care this restaurant desperately needs more of. I tipped her 20% because she earned every bit of it. She deserves recognition, but the ownership seriously needs to address the management and training issues that make this place feel like a circus.

Salmon kebab with lentil soup

Came here for lunch special. While the salmon kebab was good, I wish the portion size was a bit larger. Highly recommend the Pomegranate chicken the chicken slides right off the bone, filled with delicious flavor. The sweet mint tea is also well priced at $3 for happy hour. Happy hr daily from 3-5pm.

Middle Eastern Plate with Lamb Lue, a Levant Sandwich, and a Chicken Cilicia Fillo

Came here for lunch with a large group of friends and got seated immediately. We all ordered Middle Eastern plates with similar selections. I got the plate with lamb lule, a levant sandwich, and chicken cilicia fillo. The food came out quickly and tasted solid, but considering the portion size and price, it didn't feel worth it. There are definitely better options for better value than coming here.

Nice outdoor patio with a musician on the sidewalk Saturday evening. The hummus is really good. The tzatziki is not thick and more like a sauce. My kids enjoyed their chicken kebab plate and the chicken lemon Greek soup. My salmon kebab plate was good but the salmon was extremely salty. My husband liked his Mediterranean plate. The white wine from Armenia was mediocre. Service was a little spotty as we had to search out the waiter to get the check at the end. This place has been around for forever and I'm glad it's still in business. Decent prices for the amount of food you get (they give a lot of rice with the plates).

Mediterranean Meza

i like how they have the option of doing a tasting menu. you really get a bang for your buck as you get a plentiful of spreads and foods to try. i honestly don't think it was that good. i like how fluffy the pita bread is, and the dips were also tasty with the veggies garnished on top. however, the spinach & feta fillo and chicken cillicia fillo were one dimensional with little flavor. the falafel is also the driest i've ever tasted. the dolma grape leaf and chicken pomegranate were a bit too sour for me as well. also, the service is incredibly slow. we came on a friday evening, and while it wasn't busy, we felt like we were being ignored by the servers as they basically didn't come to our table unless we raised our hands for a really long time.

Do they still have the brunch meza?

Unfortunately, we no longer serve the brunch Meza.

Do you serve chicken bastilla?

Thank you for reaching out. We have our version of chicken bastilla as our chicken cilicia. It is the cinnamon chicken with currants wrapped in fillo dough, but comes in small rolls.

Do they take reservations?

Yes, but on Friday and Saturday night for parties of 6 or more only.

We started with the complimentary lentil soup, which was flavorful and comforting. I ordered the hummus and falafel. The hummus was light and delicious, and the falafel was the best I've ever had! It was fried to order and so crispy and hot that I've been thinking about it ever since. My family ordered the Greek salad, chicken pomegranate plate, and the berry mint lemonade, and we enjoyed all of it. We even found ourselves talking about my Lebanese grandmother, who passed away three years ago, and it was nice to feel brought together by the food. As a Disney nerd, I also love that WALL-E is named after Wally's! There's even a poster paying tribute to the film. My one drawback with this spot is the ambiance. While the staff was extremely friendly, there is very minimal seating, and it's attached to a bar. It's definitely loud and not the most family-friendly, so I would recommend ordering delivery or takeout. We actually ended up DoorDashing it for dinner the next day because it was that good! We will definitely be back!

There's a corner liquor store next door so if you want to try your luck and buy a scratcher while dining or picking up food to go, here's a perfect location to kill two birds with one stone. First time visiting this joint and I was impressed! The protein (chicken) was not overcooked and had the right amount of flavor. They wrap their delicious chicken shawarma's tighter than a burrito! Next to the cashier on the left is a little window of Turkish delight (sweets). I ordered the red-velvet + orange + lemon flavored treats. Looked appealing, but after I took a bit of the red velvet, everything stuck to my teeth and had to do extra work with the dental scalpel. It's like layers of hardened fruit roll up with molasses of the flavor. The cahier did warn me that this was sweet with a small side eye that I shoulda caught right away bc I did go in for quite the surprise. Ambience and customer service was on point. They offered for us to sit in the outdoor dining, but we ended up taking our order to go. Stop by this joint when you're in town, you won't be disappointed!

We tried their stuff falafel plate that comes with rice, hummus, salad and one pita. We never had a stuffed falafel before so this was pretty good. Lots of flavor from the onions inside and super crunchy. Reminded me of fried chicken. The rice was very fluffy but a little bland. The hummus was good and not too salty. What I like about this place is that none of the food is too salty which tends to be the case in a lot of places with Mediterranean food like Troy and Zaytoon where I frequent. It is very unusual that the food is low sodium. The salad was the worst part because it was limp and tasted cheap. I really enjoyed their pita here because it was chewy and crunchy at the same time. Maybe the pita was whole wheat because it was darker than most. We did toast it before we ate it. You can add a dollar and get extra rice or hummus and we added both extra rice and hummus. The portion size is relatively generous although you only get three falafels. I added some olives to make the rice less bland. That's the nice thing about taking food home to eat because you can doctor it. Overall, we enjoyed the food. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back but will definitely visit when in the area. This is a busy area and can be difficult to find parking.
