Can I give Seven Stars?! Once in a rare while, one's experience is way above and beyond one's expectations! Thanks to Justin (Director of Operations) and Andy (Asst. General Manager), we were the fortunate ones yesterday! Rest of the story: we booked the entire restaurant for a lunch event on Sunday. With about 70 guests, the event went exceptionally smoothly and everyone had a great time! Not even one unhappy guest! The food, as usual, was exceptional. Justin personally tended the bar - with his staff - and kept everyone happy with their exotic cocktails. The fresh coconuts were so delicious and popular that I later heard them tell each other: "coconuts are 86!" He even made a very selective guest happy with a special sipping tequila! What made the most impact was their attitude. They dealt exceptionally well with demanding customers and cheerfully served the rest! Andy helped plan the event with cocktails, appetizers, mains and desserts. They suggested creating a Spotify playlist for the event and that worked great. From the beginning till the end, their flexibility, attitude and willingness to make every possible effort to make it a great event was obvious! Seven stars! read more

Been here twice. The first time, I got a take-out of the minted jalapeno chicken - highly recommend this one. More recently, I went back with a family-friend for dinner, to introduce her to Burmese food. We got the tea-leaf salad and the dry curry with lamb. Both dishes were quite tasty, the only downside being that the food was very oily (literally coated in oil). Any of these portions for dinner are quite shareable. The service is very friendly, with a pleasant ambiance. I'd eat here very regularly if they can cut-down on the oil (no reason to use that much oil). Great Food! Staff is ok, they could be a little more talkative or friendly. Bathrooms suck, you can't tell if it's dirty or if they're older than dirt. Either way you feel like something is gonna grab onto your dangers and pull you in. I would like to give this place 5 stars. But the fact that they are too cheap to keep their bathrooms clean and their servers look at you like you're an undesirable maybe because you don't look like them? So MOST of what we ordered was fantastic. Get the TEA LEAF SALAD. It's great. Get the Basil & Dried Chile (beef) - burst of flavor. Get the Burmese Shrimp - delish. Pass on the Garlic Noodles & pass on the Calamari appetizer. The service was lightning fast. Almost too fast but I don't know that it's a bad thing. After spending the morning at Ruth Bancroft Garden having a Burmese meal sounds like a good plan. We ordered grilled salmon with lemon grass, tea leaf salad, garlic noodle, and Indian basmati rice. I think only the tea leaf is worth repeating. I didn't really taste any lemon grass in the salmon. Garlic noodle is like a wet pasta soaked in tomato sauce. It did say that it will be different than the Vietnamese garlic noodle, which is fine but I am not fond too much of the flavor. Tge salmon and the noodle taste almost the same. Service was pretty good. Love the outdoor seating. But I don't think I will come here again for Burmese experience. read more

We came here about an hour before closing and it wasn't too busy. The service was really good and we had a great time. They didn't rush us at all. Food was good - a little hit or miss - but mostly good. The pineapple fried rice, and pad Thai were mediocre, but the eggplant was very good. Desserts were delicious. read more

Burma 2 in Walnut Creek was a great dining experience, especially for plant-based eaters. I should note that my entire meal was vegan since I was sharing with my partner, so this review doesn't reflect the non-vegan options. We started with the tea leaf salad, which was incredible. It came pre-mixed and was perfectly crunchy, fresh, and full of flavor. I honestly couldn't get enough of it. Next, we ordered the basil tofu with coconut rice. The basil tofu was bold and flavorful, and paired beautifully with the coconut rice. It was my first time trying coconut rice, and I absolutely loved it. The little crunchy toppings on top really made it pop. We asked for medium heat on the basil tofu, which didn't feel too spicy to me, so we requested extra sauce, which gave it the kick I was looking for. That said, I love spicy food, so medium heat may be just right, or even a bit much, for others. We also tried the Burma noodle. The server let us know ahead of time that it's typically served lukewarm, which we appreciated. It was good, but not as flavorful as the other dishes. Since we both gravitate toward bold flavors, this one felt a bit lacking in comparison. We agreed it would actually make a great leftover dish. We also ordered a drink, one of the spicy cocktails, though I sadly forgot the name. It was something unique that we hadn't seen before. My partner loved it, and after a sip, I could see why. It was refreshing, flavorful, and paired really well with the food. Everything smelled amazing from the moment it hit the table, and overall, this is definitely a place we'd return to. The vegan options were plentiful and genuinely satisfying, and I never felt like I was missing out by not ordering a non-vegan dish, which says a lot since I'm not vegan, but my partner is. Went for a later weeknight dinner at Burma 2, and we were warmly welcomed and seated right away. Service started right and was really terrific throughout the meal. The gentleman running the front of the house and our server were both professional and attentive, including ensuring that our water glasses were full and that checking in about our meal. We also took at advantage of their free Sinha beer promo (you get reimbursed $6 online after the meal). We really enjoyed the Burmese curry with lamb over coconut rice, with the curry being mild and thinner but with excellent Burmese flavors and tender chunks of lamb. The sautéed eggplant was also very good, with fresh eggplant complemented by spices and herbs. The palate was also flaky and great to dip into the curry. While we've taken out from Burma 2 several times, it was great to eat in and take advantage of the wonderful service and to eat the dishes fresh out of the kitchen! read more

It's a bit hard to find parking in the area. There's street parking around but this area is good about giving tickets if you're not on top of feeding the meter. The service was top notch and everyone was not only nice but super quick to get us water and orders in as soon as we were ready. Their walnut shrimp is basically honey walnut prawns. The broccoli and chicken was a healthy option for us with vegetables and protein. It was a tiny bit on the bland side for my taste. The favorite was the garlic noodles that comes with a sweet sauce on the side that you can add to taste. It was garlicky enough and the noodles were perfectly textured. I feel bad leaving a 3 star review because the food and the ambience was really good here. First of all, there's no system to record who came first and how to put your name down etc. secondly I think we caught them on a bad night in terms of staffing. We got the mango curry and rice, garlic noodles, tea leaf salad and samosa soup. The main curry came first but it didn't come with the rice. It sat there and got cold for 10 mins before the rice came. The appetizers came only in the end. The hostess was short and she just seemed busy. I understand. The waitress was nice enough but was absent during most of our meal. She seemed to be waiting many tables. However she told my 7 yo she'll get ice cream after dinner 3 different times, which was sort of uncalled for. Then my kid decided she wanted it (because which kid says no to ice cream!) And we were forced to buy it. Why keep mentioning it to a kid if you can't afford to just give it. That's a really shallow form of selling things and I don't know if the waitress intended it but we were pretty pissed that she forced us to eat and pay for ice cream. read more

Delicious Burmese cuisine, friendly attentive service, pleasant upscale ambiance. We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit here today ! We came here just for a light lunch. They have a menu with lunch combos, but we elected to order from their dinner/standard menu. We chose: Eggplant & Garlic: For veggies, we selected the "Eggplant & Garlic" dish that combines big slices of eggplant stir fried in a hot wok with garlic, ginger, basil, so sauce and sambal chili. Can't go wrong with that, and sure enough, it was tasty to the last spoonful of the sauce reduction.. The flavors were bang-on great. I might consider adding the shrimp next time, as the sauce reminded me strongly of a dish I had like this in Singapore. SOLID 5/5! For the Eggplant dish as with the curries, I recommend ordering them with a bowl of rice - they have brown rice, jasmine (white) rice, and basmati rice - take your pick. We played it safe with just the jasmine (white) rice - two bowls split between the three of us. Pumpkin Curry: Our other entree was the Pumpkin Curry with an optional meat of your choice (chicken, beef, lamb or shrimp) - or with tofu/veggies if you want to go vegetarian. We chose the chicken, which was presented in thin slices of white meat that was super tender and moist. - Perfectly prepared. Asides from the chicken, the pumpkin curry also includes kobacha squash, coconut milk, broccoli, tender slices of carrot and bay leaf. This too was Excellent (5/5).. We don't get out to this part of the world much, but I definitely look forward to coming back here if I am anywhere nearby, or maybe I'll just make a special trip!. Yup. 3.5 Stars I wasn't a fan of Burma Superstar, but I wanted to give Burmese cuisine another try--and I'm glad I did. Burma 2 made the experience more enjoyable than I remembered. We came on a Saturday night and were pleasantly surprised there was no wait, even though the place was busy with a few large parties. The atmosphere felt lively but not chaotic, which was a plus. Service was great as they kept checking up on us. The tea leaf salad was light, refreshing, and much better than the version I had at Burma Superstar. It had a great balance of flavors and textures. The Burma Noodle dish was unique and satisfying--definitely my preferred noodle dish of the night. I also tried the garlic noodles with duck, but that was underwhelming. When you hear "garlic noodles," you expect bold, rich garlic flavor. This was pretty bland by comparison, and the duck didn't really elevate it. The Burmese fried chicken came as small fried bites with a basic sweet-and-sour sauce poured over. The mango and fresh veggies were a nice touch, but overall, it didn't wow me. If you like crispy chicken, I'd recommend asking for the sauce on the side. Also tried the Minted Jalapeño Chicken, which was light and flavorful--easy to eat and well-cooked--but surprisingly lacked any noticeable jalapeño heat or flavor. If you're expecting a spicy kick, this probably won't deliver. All in all, Burma 2 was a step up from my previous experience with the cuisine, but some dishes still fell short of expectations. Arrived on a Sunday afternoon a little after 1:30pm, and it wasn't busy. It was a little difficult to find parking but we ended up doing metered street parking near the restaurant. Waited about 10 minutes after ordering for the food to arrive! - Burmese Garlic Noodles - enjoyed this! Also thought the portion size was perfect for me, though a bit more chicken would have been nice - Burmese Pad Thai - my friend usually orders pad thai and enjoyed this - Chicken and Shrimp Biryani - my friend's boyfriend ordered this, and he thought it was quite tasty but felt the portion size was a bit small. It does seem like they give you a good amount of protein though I think the dishes are made to be shared family style, because they provided serving utensils to us with each dish, but half of our brains were clearly not functioning, so we ate them with the serving utensils...and didn't bother to unwrap the napkins that contained the actual eating utensils until after we realized our mistake HAHA Overall pretty good and reasonably priced place for Burmese food in Walnut Creek! The environment is quite nice, and it's a great place to eat and catch up with friends. I don't live close by, so not sure if I see myself coming back, but if I'm ever in the area, I'd be down to try other things on their menu! read more

Such a great selection of food here from the tea leaf salad to the black pepper beef which are both packed with flavor. Typically I avoid spicer foods but this restaurant makes it easier to try them. I've also tried the chicken curry with walnut shrimp and those were pretty good too. Coconut rice is always a must for a side! Honestly now that I am naming all of these food options, I honestly don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. I will happily come back here and try something else :) read more

Burma 2 is a well known and visited eating establishment. It has the vibe where locals meet up over a nice meal or drink. Brianna was our server. She was fast and efficient. Everything we ordered (see the photos) was excellent. The stand out dish was the Coconut Chicken Curry Palata. The bread was so so good! I wish they gave more of it. The only thing I didn't care for surprisingly was the Tea Leaf Salad. There was some spice in it that did not set well with my stomach, but I know that it is a favorite for many people. If you come here, know this: -Parking is right outside. We celebrated Valentine's Day at Burma 2, and their special menu made the night feel even more memorable. From the first course of samosas and tea leaf or mango salad to the flavorful Burmese curry and perfectly seasoned dishes, every plate was beautifully prepared and full of authentic flavor. The Valentine's set menu was thoughtfully curated, generous in portions, and worth every penny. Surprisingly delicious Burmese food! I was craving pad thai but wanted to try something different. I'm so glad we found this place on yelp! The service was super friendly. They allowed us to sit at a big round table with a bench which gave us plenty of room to sit on either side of our toddler. They were also super accommodating with the spice options and made sure that everything was served without spiciness for my son. We ordered a coconut-based noodle soup dish which my son absolutely devoured. He also loved the chicken and shrimp biryani (mostly the chicken). He ate his belly full and promptly fell asleep on the bench. Thankfully they didn't rush us out and let us take our time to get him into his stroller and out the door. It was good with some drizzle of the sweet chili sauce Pan Fried Salmon - over cooked and not a lot of flavors. It came with the side spicy dipping sauce. We saw this on Check, Please! and had to give it a try since it was so close. The food was amazing! The lettuce wrap with shrimp had all this amzing textures and flavors with each bite. The lemongrass chicken definitely had a kick, but in a good way. The sesame beef was sweet and crunchy. The home style fried rice was a pleasant surprise with the beand and tumeric, so yummy!! Unfortunately they didn't have any dessert available that night. But everything was delicious. Not cheap, we were well over $80 for 2 of us, but worth it! Refreshing, bright, and layered with textures -- lots of crunch, lots of flavor. It really stood out as something unique to Burmese cuisine. * Burma Noodle - Another standout. Flavorful, refreshing, and full of different ingredients that tied the dish together. A touch of citrus made it especially vibrant. * Minted Jalapeño Chicken - Reminded me of Thai basil chicken stir fry, but it lacked depth in flavor. The jalapeño added texture but surprisingly little heat. * Garlic Noodles with Duck - The most underwhelming. Hardly any garlic flavor, and the duck felt like it was just placed on top rather than incorporated into the dish. * Burmese Fried Chicken - Crispy and tasty, but essentially sweet-and-sour popcorn chicken. Good, but it didn't feel distinctly Burmese. Overall, the tea leaf salad and Burma noodle made the meal worth it.
