After that I called the manager to complain about him and the female manager defended him saying that I was lying and they even kicked me out of that place. This was an excellent experience. The atmosphere had a vibe to it and there are both indoor and outdoor seating options. The menu has an abundance of options and the cocktails are perfectly crafted for the adventure drinker. The customer experience was enhanced by excellent customer service with our waiter who asked a lot of great questions to guide us through the menu. Additionally, he timed the food to come out at a great pace and the kudos to the kitchen staff as the food had great food presentation when plated. I've heard so many great things about Limon so it was about time I tried it out! We went to the Walnut Creek location and it was poppin on a Sunday! Luckily though, we didn't have an issue making a same day reservation. Once we were sat, it did take a bit for our server to get to us, but Wilfredo did great balancing how busy it was. So, we didn't really have an issue with it. He is so great we loved our interactions with him! For food, we ordered the Ceviche Limon, which had a combination of bright and citrusy (a lil spicy) sauce with fresh raw red snapper, squid, and shrimp with fried, crispy calamari tentacles. The combination of textures and flavors was delicious. We did opt in for the taro chips, which was the perfect vessel for the ceviche. We also ordered the Piqueo sampler, which had their chicharron de pollo, beef empanadas, platano frito, and yuca fries. Everything was delicious, though I was not super wowed by the empanadas and the yuca fries were a bit stale. The star of the show was the Fiesta de Carnes, which was their all meat platter with ribeye steak, grilled chicken, and pork belly with roasted potatoes chimichurri and aji amarillo. Ribeye was cooked perfectly, and the grilled chicken was quite literally the juiciest chicken I've had in a while. However, the pork belly was not crisp enough for both me and the amount of fat that the pork belly had. Had it been crispier this dish would have been 10/10. The aji amarillo was so good, not as spicy as other versions I've had before. I think it is worth the $2 they charge for extra. It was simplistic in decor but still fitting for the Peruvian cuisine the place executes well. Will be coming back to try pollo a la brasa or the arroz con mariscos. read more

I celebrated a friend's surprise 40th birthday here the other weekend. They allowed us to come in before the birthday girl arrived to help set up. We also were able to order from the menu rather than have a required prix fixe menu, so that was nice. I had the empanadas: the chicken and veggie ones were great. The cheese one was fine. The beef one, however, was not very good. The margaritas were nice! I had one classic, and one spicy cucumber one. The spicy cucumber one gave me heartburn, but it was worth it. Service and Staff: - Came here on a Saturday evening during dinner time, so we expected a wait. The hostess took our information down and said it would be about a 30 minute wait. We were warmly greeted by Wilfredo at the front podium, who escorted us to our table. Romeo was our server/bartender and did an excellent job answering all of our questions about the menu. With so many great options to choose from, it wasn't easy to decide! We started with the Limón Grand Cadillac and an Espresso Martini, along with the Jalea and Chicken Empanadas. Both cocktails and appetizer was absolutely delicious. For our entrées, we ordered the Saltado Mar Y Tierra and the Crispy Pork Belly Chaufa. Both dishes were incredible and full of flavor. I highly recommend trying either one during your visit. Throughout our meal, both Wilfredo and Romeo checked on us regularly, making sure everything was perfect. They were friendly, professional, and took the time to share information about Limón and its offerings. Very much enjoyed my dinner here recently. I believe the menu is not "fixed," per se, it seems as though they rotate in new dishes from time to time. My choice was the Crispy Pork Belly Chaufa. She's a good one, even if you are like me and you usually hesitate to order pork belly. Theirs is soft and fatty and falls apart very nicely, while still delivering a supple crunch. I definitely recommend, AND I recommend asking for their sriracha aioli on the side. It adds a lovely creaminess to the dish. Their seafood-forward entrées are also quite flavorful. The espresso martini is just right. The tres leches cake is a perfect option for dessert, definitely shareable (or not). read more

A rare warm day in the bay of late, my brother and I ventured to find some good eats outdoors. Walnut Creek has many of such places so we ventured that way. For brunch, my brother decided on Limón for us. He was familiar with their food and I was interested in trying some place new. We arrived inside about 5 minutes prior to opening. The hostess was friendly and accommodated us to outdoor seating, alerting us our server would be out upon opening. The wait was brief. With menus of food and drink, we ordered immediately. Both the drink and food menus were quite extensive providing a variety of drinks options, mostly alcoholic, and an array of food highlighting mostly seafood and meat. The service was friendly and attentive, the drinks arrived immediately with our food following shortly after. My mango lemonade was not too sweet, fruit forward and refreshing for a warm day. My brother loved his mango prickly pear slushie so much he ordered a second. The pear flavor was light with more emphasis on mango, the icy ratio allowed the drink to be enjoyed without ice chunks or losing any flavor. The seafood was prepared beautifully, allowing each individual item to shine in its collective and the rice was well flavored without being overpowering in flavor. The dish was extremely harmonious. We both took half our meal to go as the portions are generous. I would definitely return to try a ceviche and half shell oysters. I really love all the limon locations! This was my first time in Walnut Creek. We were seated outside very quickly despite not having reservation's. We got seated outside close to a heater and were very comfortable, dispite it being cold outside! Had a girls' night here recently and it was my first time trying Limon--I can confidently say I'll be back. Every dish we ordered was incredibly delicious and full of flavor, and the drinks were well made too. The ambience is really cool, though it can get pretty loud inside. We sat upstairs, which was a bit quieter and more enjoyable. I would've given this place 5 stars, but the service that night fell short. It took over 15 minutes for a server to come to our table, and another 5 minutes just to bring menus. There was also an awkward issue when we were being seated. The hostess brought us to a table, but then the owner came over and asked us to get up because it was supposedly reserved. He said someone would seat us elsewhere, which felt unnecessary since all the tables were the same and there were no reserved signs posted. Went to Limón for a casual dinner last night, where we ordeted the Seco de costillas (which never lets me down!) and a whole chicken with a side salad and french fries. My plate was the seco de costillas, first off - the meal is huge. I ate half last night & the other half for lunch today. The meat was tender, flavorful, and juicy. The rice was delicious lightly topped with fresh veggies. I always enjoy this dish but I almost think the Limón restaurants make it differently because I recall this dish having black beans at their San Mateo location. Service was good, it did take a while to get our orders placed but they were good about checking in on us after receiving our food & replenishing our water. Now, the ambiance is nice for an outing with friends, or possibly even a date. But it gets really loud in there because of the volume of the music, so you're likely yelling if you're engaging in conversation lol. I would love to try their platter next time which comes with steak, pork belly, and chicken! read more

I left my initial remarkable review, I was very impressed, I just hope that this new visit isn't overwriting my first one. This is an excellent place. It serves food uniquely Peruvian and wow it is amazing. I bet they have been eating food in Peru for a long time, because they have really amazing food. Taste, texture, presentation, it's all part of the food. You can eat ceviche, but add some Peruvian corn made different ways, peanuts and other things that it makes a dish go from spectacular to beyond. Lagarta beer is so great with the food. I highly recommend. The mixto Clasico ceviche is astounding. Pretty to look at and a delight to eat. The tart sauce is so delicious and with the Peruvian corn and other ingredients is an amazing combination. The canchito à la Diablo was such an amazing treat. The crispy pork belly is in a wonderful sauce of whatever degree of spicy that you want. Mine was mild and delicious. I am tempted to try medium next time as well as with the ceviche. This is a classy place. Definitely a super first or more date site. Definitely a great place to explore the wonders of Peruvian cuisine! Btw, let me comment about the service: it is totally friendly and hospitable. It is a big place, fully accessible, with out front, downstairs and upstairs tables, so don't be surprised if lots of people like to eat delicious food in a friendly atmosphere, and thus time things if needed. I was here at 11:45 am and obviously had very quick service. The time before, we had a party of 20 and had reservations for the top floor. They were very professional. They know that a table of 20 would take some planning, so we were all given time for drinks, appetisers, and for stragglers to arrive. Once they had us calculated the ordering and service was impeccable, or close. We were able to make multiple rounds of orders, figuring out what everyone liked best, a few more orders, don't forget to try their signature sour cocktails and plentiful bar menu. My first time at the Walnut Creek location, but I've been going to Limon in San Francisco since college almost two decades ago -- and I'm happy to report Limon is still as delicious as ever. The table setup here is nicely spaced, so we actually had elbow room instead of feeling stacked on top of neighboring tables. Service was excellent. Fatima was kind, professional, and welcoming, which made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. The leche de tigre in the pescado clásico was a standout -- bright, sour, and intensely flavorful, with spice that slowly crept up on me until I was sweating (in the best way). A must-order if you enjoy bold citrus and heat. The plantains were perfectly crispy and caramelized on the outside with a soft, sweet center -- a great balance to the savory dishes. The chicken was tender, juicy, and well seasoned. The pieces are normal-sized and thoughtfully portioned, so a hungry person could easily finish a half chicken and leave satisfied. It was a no for me. which sucks because it use to be the go to short rib with yuca and Brussels! Great for after work, girls night, bday dinners, etc. My recent visit changed my mind. Unbeknown to me the menu changes every 3-4 years and in my opinion they didn't do a good job this round. Entrees, drinks, and apps different. I can't believe it took me so long to try out this restaurant. I already can't wait to go back! My daughter and I enjoyed absolutely everything we ordered. The vegan ceviche made with cauliflower has been on my mind ever since! I am not a raw fish kind of girl so this was such a fun option for us. Every dish was incredible. We started with the chicken empanadas and fried platanos. I think we were getting full already but so many other dishes were calling us! We had two different types of chicken, the Saltado de Pollo, a wok stir-fried chicken with a soy sauce and Polli-Papas which is crispy chicken with a mustardy sauce, both served on french fries. I can't believe it's taken me so long to leave a review, but I have now visited Limón a handful of times, and they have never missed! This place is such a vibe inside and out, the food is absolutely fantastic and the service is top tier. If you plan to visit, please be sure to bring your appetite because you absolutely need to order something for each course. The cocktail menu is thoughtful and all that I have tried have been enjoyable, so it really depends on what you're in the mood for. For apps, I highly recommend the trio ganador (you can't go wrong with classic or mixto), the empanada sampler, and the Yuca fries. Moving on to entree, the crispy pork belly chaufa, lomo saltado, and saltado de pollo are my top picks - there is so much flavor in every bite and all so incredibly filling. I live in the neighborhood, so I've been coming here a few times a year ever since it opened. The food is ok, the drinks are pretty decent. My last visit, I went in on a Wednesday night around 8:20 so it was dying down. I ordered from the front desk about $100 worth of ceviche and sides to go. The bar was clearing out so I told them I'd wait for my food at the bar. The bar is about 10 feet away, and I sat there, ordered a drink and waited and waited. 45 minutes later, I finally went back to the front desk and asked about my food. They pulled it out right away and handed it to me. I told him, "I ordered 45 minutes ago, and I've been sitting at the almost empty bar 10 feet away waiting for this".
