Lowkey disappointed of this place. We got mimosas and they gave us half a carafe of juice which I thought was weird. It looked like someone just drank it and they put it on our table. Service was extremely slow we just awkwardly sat for an hour before even getting drinks even. My food didn't come even after all my friends food came in so I just ended up cancelling my order. We also upgraded the pizza crust and we didn't get the upgrade. She did not table touch at all. The portions were small for how much it was. It was extremely disappointing. We tried to make reservations online, but the restaurant was fully booked. Luckily, I called and found open seating at the bar. We wanted to try this new location because it was a favorite of ours in Virginia, specifically for their fabulous Farmers Market Chef's Board and its amazing vegetables. Unfortunately, that option is no longer on the menu. They only offer a meat version now, which was not for us. The new location is nice, featuring large shared tables in front of a few small flat screens over the bar. Service was good. The Chef's Board was a standout; it had a great mix of sweet, savory, and crunchy elements. We devoured it and will definitely be ordering it again next time!!! For mains, the Italian Cobb was delicious, but the panzanella completely stole the show. I honestly wish I had ordered that instead!! It was not only more flavorful, but also felt like a better value compared to similar options at Buckhorn, making North Italia a strong choice for anyone deciding between the two. Rounding up a bit here. Tried North Italia for lunch on a Friday, and was seated right away. We were given our menus, and had a good amount of time to go through. Our server stopped by to take drink orders, and other than water, I got a cappuccino. We tried the following - Margherita pizza - we wanted to try a pizza to share, and the server recommended the margherita pizza. Good stuff usually, but I wasn't too fond of this one. The pizza was really soft, and the cheese seemed stuck such that it took more effort to pick up the slices. Flavors were alright, but the sogginess wasn't pleasant. Arancini - 6 lil balls to an order with a side of sauce. Both the balls and sauce had good flavor, but the balls were a bit too salty for my liking. Italian Meatballs - my fave thing I tried this time. The meatballs itself were bland and they get pretty solid if not eaten right away. The ricotta and sauce was everything here. So good with the protein balls. Cappuccino - loved the size and cup. Came with a lil spoon and a couple sugars. Flavor was alright, a bit lighter than I usually take, but it was good. 3.5 stars Finally checked out North Italia Walnut Creek's newest spot and I had no idea it's owned by The Cheesecake Factory, but it totally makes sense since it's right next door. Made a reservation just in case, and I still can't believe it took over the old Tilly's space. The layout is gorgeous super spacious with a beautiful outdoor seating area right in front. Staff was friendly, and honestly, such a fun way to keep my birthday celebrations going. My friend couldn't make my birthday dinner, so she wanted to take me out, and I had missed another friend's birthday... so I told her I'd take her out instead. It all worked out since we're all in the same friend group anyway. Food-wise, a few standouts for me: Classic alla vodka Kale salad Burrata House-made donuts The squid ink tonnarelli, though, wasn't my favorite it tasted undercooked and a bit too firm. Had such a great experience here. The service was impeccable, the mushroom pizza was incredible, and everything we ordered was delicious. We also tried the steak salad and lemon blueberry donuts, both were amazing. The restaurant was spotless and had such a great atmosphere. We were so excited to try this newly opened restaurant. The parking garage is attached and has free 3 hour parking, located next to Cheesecake Factory. We went on week night it was busy but not overly crowded . I love the large open bar that opens to the outside. Next time I wouldn't mind sitting at the bar. I ordered the kale salad. I wish it had a crunch so I ordered the white truffle garlic bread. So yummy with the crunch and extra dollop of cheese. The short ribs are melt in your mouth so good. North Italia opened 2.5 weeks ago, keep that in mind before visiting. The staff is very "green" and confused. There were 5 people behind the front desk doing nothing* as a line crowded around in chaos. Customers were asking each other about wait times and places in line. Wait times are long, despite empty tables inside and outside. After settling on bar seating, we noticed that the staff behind the bar was also plentiful. They socialized with each other, rather than greeting us. We had to interrupt their personal conversation for service. My husband's meal was incorrect, asking to pay the bill was a challenge. We inquired about using apple pay, and a young lady behind the bar asked my husband to unlock his cell phone so she could walk away with it and tap pay all the way down at the end of their very long bar. This was completely unprofessional and alarming. She could have asked my husband to follow her down closer to the pay station. I don't know what's going on here, but it was a stressful and challenging experience. Wouldn't recommend. Perhaps give them ample time to train the staff prior to visiting. read more

Arrived during happy hour on Friday to check out their happy hour menu and have few drinks with a new vibe. We sat at the bar on the outside area side so we could enjoy the warm day. The seating is comfortable but it's wicker so the armrests dig into your skin (ugh) and is very uncomfortable. The bar was busy and people were just tripping over themselves back there (it was a mess). We never got water and 20 min passed before we were acknowledged (we actually never were acknowledged we waved someone down). To be fair, we only drank drinks and did not try food so will update this review once I return. The happy hour is not so happy when the drinks are still $12-15 .... How is that Happy Hour? So are your regular priced drinks like $24? That's INSANE- happy hour is traditionally priced 1/2 of the original price. It is literally an old fashioned and espresso martini ... nothing special about either one, tasty and refreshing but not spectacular that they have to be full price range. I will definitely take my happy hour elsewhere where I can get more value. Mostly older people (50+) coupled up and families. read more

Conveniently located across from the movie theater we were lucky to snag a table at the bar on a Wednesday night. I checked for reservations at the last minute and it was completely booked. Extra bonus was happy hour until six a nice selection of small plate plates and pizza we tried the zucca chips which were just like potato chips but made from zucchini a little bit salty but tasty. We also had the garlic knots with chicken and prosciutto. These were huge, a mini meal on its own we also tried the Cacio E Pepe pizza which was a full size white pizza with a very creamy sauce. It was very pleasant sitting outside and the bar is huge. They have a house Red and white wine at HH prices as well, the white was a pino Grigio and perfectly fine for a light white on a warm evening . I've been to a few different North locations and was super excited for them to be in the east Bay area! I came here the first week and it was... a little chaotic. It took several minutes to be greeted by the bartender, but it was a good experience overall. Second time- much better. They've got a beautiful inside/outside bar with big open windows. You can see all the way into the kitchen and the bartender pointed out the kitchen making pasta by hand. The better news? They've got a friendly staff and seem to be settling into a steadier pace. The food has been consistent. First visit I had a half salad and the chicken pesto pasta which was delicious. This visit tried the hot honey pizza and it was AMAZING (pictured). One thing to note, it's definitely a lively atmosphere so noise levels are above average, but there are other places nearby if you want an intimate night out. Let's start with Jeannine, our absolutely amazing server. Friendly and real and so very accommodating. She greeted us at the table with an abundance of positive energy and suggestions. Went above and beyond on everything and the presentation was flawless. The food was so good and everyone was thrilled with the presentation and taste, from the eggplant, Caesar salad, garlic bread, vegetable salad, and vegetable pesto pasta, flavors were amazing. The Butter cake was over the top! The atmosphere is comfortable and spacious and very inviting and we were not feeling rushed. Everyone was so accommodating and friendly. We ordered some white truffle garlic bread that was probably the best item we ordered and it came out much later than our first appetizer. North Italia certainly aren't like the others girls! their fried calamari wasn't over battered and fried. you still get to taste and enjoy the calamari, with the addition of their sauces and picked vegetables!! it was a great appetizer i definitely suggest giving a try. ofc i had to try their fresh daily made pasta, it was good and well portioned. still left satisfied and unbuttoned but didn't need assistance rolling out the building. even the cocktails were mixed and tasted great well. my next trip there: alcoholic or non-alcoholic cocktail + calamari appetizer = a great day to be alive. not so great time: we ordered a lot of food wanting to try as much of the menu. expecting each dish to be placed one at a time, like usual. or at least all the appetizers first, but no. We received our zucchini chips first then left to stare at them for a HOT minute wondering. Then everything simultaneously just came at once, even including our drinks. leaving us extremely overwhelmed with options. for what the restaurant is that area of customer experience was lacking. still, I would definitely suggest this place. Overall we were seated rather quickly, but is it just me or do we need 5-7 people at the front just looking at the seating...idk I've never worked in the food industry so maybe it's needed, I feel it's excessive. Wait staff: while he meant well, I feel there was sooo much lost in communication. I had to repeat everything 2-3 times and even with that he would just do as he pleased. Again I'm sure he meant well and was sweet and kind. But the listening skills were non existent. Food: crispy eggplant-I say it's a good dish but wayyy too much cheese on top. Super rich and so heavy for an app. It was tasty but a lot to eat. Ordered the hot honey pizza and it was okkkay. The waiter described this as sweet...which is not the case at all. It does have sweetness but it also has a kick of spice. We ordered the focaccia but it never came out and the waiter convinced us we had enough bread products lol. Awkkk. Kids got a pasta and pizza which comes with milk. Our kids have dairy allergies to milk (they can have other dairy in things like pizza-don't ask me, I cannot even explain it fully!) so we didn't get milk and tried to explain or ask if the kids can get a diff drink (juice or something) waiter said sure, but didn't explain it was an up charge. I also do believe restaurants should consider those with allergies in instances like this, but again my kids may be unique idk. Dessert-here is where things went sooo wrong. We waited 30 min. Staff passed by us 3-5 times with nothing to say. Mind you we did get sorbet for the kids..so in my mind what is happening with the sorbet?! I got up 3 times and asked to cancel dessert and get the check. My son was losing his mind. We arrived at 415 for our meal and left around 645pm. For us, with two small kids, that is a very long drawn out dinner. They did comp us the dessert but honestly I would have been fine with the check and leaving. I also had to go back to the manager and request the sorbet be comped as that's what was promised too. We believe she had comped it and the waiter went back and added it in. He did also say he wouldn't charge us for ginger ale but he did, despite us asking for it to be cancelled...My feedback is that there is an overall lack of communication. Staff could have said, hey we are out of the dessert, making new ones will take 20-30 min, did you want to try something else. I would have said no I'm good and left to avoid meltdowns. But alas there was zero communication. The restaurant is cute and their decor is adorable, as others have said it is sooo loud! I did go in day 2 so things can def improve. Food was decent and may consider coming back. But just be warned the times for things may take forever! read more

Ambiance on a sunny day is amazing. Tried to eat there on Friday night but they were slammed. I'm a solo person so I sit at the bar. Left and went back Saturday for lunch. Still busy but was able to get a seat. They were understaffed and it was a bit stressful watching them work so hard. Ordered the arugula and avocado salad $17. They tried to bring me two; no thank you. I had to send it back because it had a total of three small pieces of avocado and for that price it should have had at a minimum a half of avocado . Manager credit my tab. Main course was chicken parmigiana and it was average. The views really helped the overall experience. They definitely need to work on the flow. Genuinely don't understand the good reviews at this place. Must all be getting paid for them.... I was super excited to try North Italia but unfortunately it did not exceed my expectations. First off, the first thing our server says to us when she sees us "I would ask if you've been here before but we just opened" weird thing to say as there are many other locations & it's been open for 2 weeks but ok.... She then goes onto explaining the menu like we are 5 year olds... not only this, but she then is forcing one of us to get an alcoholic drink for her birthday. Trying to peer pressure her into getting tequila.... We have someone sober at our table, this was extremely extremely disrespectful. This was our first 10 minutes so as you can see.... Didn't start great. Now onto the drinks. We kept having to ask our waiter for water for the table & she would bring 1-2 at a time, there was 6 of us. It wasn't very busy so I'm not sure what was happening. The mimosa didn't even taste like there was champagne in it & was served in a cocktail glass. So bad we had to send it back. For the food, it took about an hour, once again, it wasn't very busy since our reservation was at 10:45am.... When it came it was madness. 3 different waiters came throwing food on our table & our main server was yelling at them saying that's for the wrong person (I guess they have it like a number system) etc "that's for number 2 number 3" & it was honestly so chaotic. The food itself was honestly flavorless. As a big spicy rigatoni fan, this was at the bottom. I would not recommend that dish at all. The caprese sandwich wasn't bad I'll say that, but everything else was mid at most. Service was so awful, embarrassing even. I'll give them a little grace since they are within the first month but maybe train your employees better. I'll attach a few photos. I don't think I'll return anytime soon. read more

I've never had a Carajillo with a whiskey cube in it the size of the iceberg that took out the Titanic. 10% Carajillo, 20% foam, 100% iceberg. Our salty meatballs were tasty, but I think it was because I was starving. The truffle garlic bread was different; pretty good but eat those fast because when they get cold, you'll crack a tooth. We ordered a Caesar salad. An hour later it came, right before I cancelled it. Apparently they needed to travel back in time, go to Rome and ask Caesar himself to make it. We ordered the Bolognese. We saw no Bolognese. Hour goes by, drinks gone, thirst sets in. Now we're famished AND thirsty. Never offered to make me another drink. Can't blame the bartender because he was solo with a gang of hungry hippos staring him down for the same reason I was, where the f'k was our food!? Overall, no bueno. The manager himself apologized and offered to pack the Caesar salad to go, on the house. I don't think he realizes that Caesar salads don't hold well in the heat or in the car. I politely declined. At the end we got charged for what we ate. I don't mind paying for what we ate but I kind of wondered if they would discount us for waiting 1+ hour for food we never got. They didn't. I was lucky and got to try this place for their weekend VIP opening as part of being their email subscribers. I got my food as takeout to test their takeout services. When I called in the morning to place my order Taylor was very kind and helpful with my requests. When I came in to pick up the food I was greeted by everyone with a smile and everyone was ready to help! My food was ready on time! Now onto the food. For appetizer I got the calamari and it was delicious! It came with only rings which is perfect for me because those are the only part of calamari I like to eat lol. It came with a side of homemade marinara and a creamy special sauce that paired so well. It also came with some spicy pickled veggies which is always a plus. now onto the entrées... the ricotta cavatelli pasta had big pieces of shrimp and crab and the noodles were fresh with a soft pillowy chew. The sauce was creamy but light and complimented the seafood perfectly! The pizza had a nice thin and crunchy crust but wasn't very spicy for being a spicy meatball pizza. Last, but certainly not least, for dessert i got the tiramisu! This was sooo delicious! Soft, airy, creamy, coffee-y, with crunchy chocolate pearls on top!
