We had an excellent experience at STIX Eatery Thai Restaurant. The food was incredibly flavorful and authentic--easily the best Thai restaurant in the Pleasant Hill and Concord area. We've tried many Thai restaurants locally, and this one truly stands out. The portions are generous, which is rare since many Thai restaurants tend to serve smaller portions. I ordered Prawn Sarong (shrimp w/ bacon) and Pad Woosen (glass noodles w/ chicken, mushroom++). There's also a great variety of dishes on the menu, so there's something for everyone. The restaurant itself is very clean, and the customer service is fantastic. Ko, the owner, was especially kind and a pleasure to talk with, which made the experience even better. Please support this wonderful local business. It's rare these days to find a restaurant that delivers both excellent food and great value, and this place absolutely does. On the road traveling and I needed some simple protein and veggies to stay in plan. I usually get Hawaiian BBq but came across this place and saw their Thai BBq combo. It was beef, chicken and pork. My dasher had multiple stops so by the time it got to me it wasn't as warm as I would like. Also there were no utensils. The beef and chicken were very good. The pork was not, which is a pity because pork is usually my favorite. It was tough and not enjoyable. Would try something else from this establishment. read more

Came here twice and both times were closed. First time was during the soft opening and was closed for last minute renovations. This was understandable. Decided to come back a second time. Came back July 3 at 545. The door says they're open at 4pm and the sign on the door says they'll be closed on July 4. There was no indication they would be closed July 3. Poorly run in my opinion. Will stop trying to go here. Decided to go to rocking crawfish right next to it. When we left, there was someone inside at the door talking with either friends or family outside. So there was someone inside the entire time. Not sure what was going on there. No reason to be closed because my time was wasted. Update: Friend of the owners reached out to me on yelp and called me pathetic. A server was kind enough to reach out and apologize and explain the situation. For that I like how proactive and understanding they are. The friends behavior on the other hand is completely uncalled far. Decided to finally try this Thai and Lao fusion place! Food was authentic and reminded of home cooking. The khao poon was very flavorful and had thick noodle and my favorite dish. Papaya salad was light and refreshing, like a Thai style. The angle wings were crispy with a sweet sauce/glaze on it. It was my first time trying Nam Khao and it was crispy, crunchy with unique flavor. The flavors balanced together with the crunchy rice, salty and sour from the fermented pork and refreshing from the veggies. Food was cooked fast and service was great. Amazing food! We only ordered a couple of things but will definitely be going back for more. The fresh shrimp rolls were super delicious with Thai basil and peanut sauce! The pad Thai was also very tasty with fried tofu. I would only order for takeout because the restaurant is very small and it was very warm inside. Maybe in the winter would be best. This was my second visit to Stix Eatery and it definitely won't be my last. My friend and I ordered the papaya salad, combo chicken and beef barbecue, and we were both very impressed. The meat was tender, juicy and perfectly cooked, with great flavor in every bite. The papaya salad was nice, fresh and dressed nicely with their vinaigrette dressing. We forgot to take photos of our food. We were too excited to get started eating. What really stood out was the value for money. The portions were generous and more than satisfying, especially considering the affordable prices. It's one of those hole-in- the-wall gems that delivers delicious food without breaking the bank. I wanted to try a new Thai place so my friend and I came here. We ordered: Wings - these were very flavorful Bbq mix plate - the pork was my favorite, but the beef was also cooked really well. Honorable mention to just how big the portion was! Garlic noodles - we added salmon and the chunk of salmon was gigantic. My friend liked the sauce, where-as it wasn't quite my favorite. Oh what a hidden gem! This place has probably some of the best Thai Laotian food I've had. We're not from around here and I'll be honest and say it's a very unassuming place until you walk inside. Do yourself a favor and come get some good eats after work or even after church! This place is so good. Parking: free in the lot. Everyone loves free parking and there's a lot for it. Baby friendly: absolutely. We brought our stroller in. Thankfully it wasn't busy though. Ambiance: quaint relaxed Seating: seat yourself. I wouldn't say it's a huge space but it could fit at least over 20 people. We even got our stroller in here. Food: you're gonna come back here for sure. Laos platter,: I love the variety. Stix Eatery used to be a table-service restaurant at Willow Pass Rd, but the pandemic caused it to tranform into a quick-serve outlet at Monument Blvd. It's a smaller space now but in spite of the move, one thing remained big - the taste of their food. Crispy Drunken Noodles (Chicken) - This is also known as Pad Kee Mao in most Thai restaurant menus. Stir-fried in a savory sweet and spicy sauce, they made this classic dish stand out with the crispy wide noodles. The added texture made this an absolute winner. They put their spin on it but kept the authenticity intact. Crispy Drunken Noodles (Chicken) - It's that special that it needed another rundown. They really had me at crispy. This alone is worthy of the 5-star rating. If you live within a 35-mile radius, take the drive and you will not be disappointed. Thai BBQ Combo - Grilled pork, chicken, and tri-tip served on top of steamed broccoli with a side of sweet and spicy sauce. The marinade was excellent as this came out very tasty. Can't go wrong with garlic, cilantro, and lemongrass. The tri-tip was very tender. Cucumber Salad - Of course I got outvoted again for another meat dish, but this turned out to be a fine choice. It had sliced cucumbers and red onions topped with julienned carrots and crushed peanuts then some sweet vinaigrette dressing to complete the mix. It was very refreshing... and I got my veggies in! Red Curry (Beef) - This had plenty of vegetables also - bamboo shoots, eggplant, carrots, peas, and red bell pepper. Very aromatic and had balanced flavor - just enough heat and the coconut milk was not overpowering. Crispy Pata - Another popular Southeast Asian favorite, this deep-fried treat originated from my homeland! Crispy on the outside but tender on the inside. It was good but was not as well-seasoned as the ones I've had elsewhere. We've only scratched the surface here since we have not yet given the Laotian side some love. How to turn a first time customer to a never returning customer. The food is simply bad. No redeeming qualities in any of the dishes at all. Check out the photo of "crab" rangoons. This is my new favorite restaurant! The food is so delicious! You must try the boat noodle soup, so good and the banh mi sandwiches are so flavorful. I had the BBQ combo and it came on a bed of steamed vegetables and dipping sauce that was incredible! all the meat was juicy and cooked to perfection, so much meat I even had enough for another meal. The service is excellent and had help when choosing what to eat since I'm not too familiar with this cuisine. The Ambiance is nice and clean. I can't wait to go back again since there are so many dishes I want to try and the price is very affordable specially in todays market, where can you get a delicious meal at a good price that's not going to break your wallet. This place has the best tofu dishes I've had anywhere. If you love deep fried crispy tofu this is the place for you. The Bahn Mi here is quite unique. The bread is more of Loaf instead of a long baguette. It's got a light crust on the outside while being airy and fluffy on the inside. It also had lots of the pate spread. Would definitely come back! So weird that I've been coming here for a few years now (both the old and current location) and I'm barely writing a review lol. But I can say from all the times I've gotten food here, it's always really good. My favorites are the cucumber salad, yellow curry, Lao sausages, boat noodles and of course, khao poon. Service is also great! Ko and her staff are very friendly, attentive and diligent. I love when an owner of a business engages with their customers and makes them feel welcome. Stix Eatery used to be on Willow Pass in the 99 Ranch stripmall but has since moved here during the covid downturn to get away from the high rent. At this location, Stix maintained its coral blue/ green interior and most importantly, the same CHEF ‍ and the same great tasting food. Upon entering, you will be facing the cash register and the owner will ask you if you're dining in or take out. You will order & pay first at the cash register and then proceed to sit down at a table of your choice. We were surprised to see that there's only 1 other table dining in (although it is a late lunch for us today). We ordered the Pad See Ew and a Pork+Lemongrass Bahn Mi - both are excellent and tasted authentic and fresh. Dishes arrived quickly and the server brought us some very tasty and spicy hot sauce upon request. We also leaned that they do Laos dishes and their mango salad, while prepared Thai-style by default, is available for Lao-style preparation upon request (where the papaya salad is mashed up a bit, and more spicy). We will definitely be back to try this next time! While there are so many Thai-good choices in the 1 mile radius of Stix, Stix definitely stands out for me as their food is really very delicious! I was truly impressed by this restaurant. The food from this place tasted authentic and delicious, and yet at the same time it felt very unique and almost felt like it had a slight contemporary twist to it. For example, the vegetables that they used for their Kaprow stir-fry were a little different (like zucchini) than the Kaprow stir-fry that I have tried from other Thai restaurants. But the flavor was amazing. I especially enjoyed all of the three items that we ordered today. - Lao Sausage: this dish came with slices of sausage made with with ground pork seasoned with lemongrass, galangal, kafir leaves, shallots, cilantro and garlic. The dominant and delicious flavor from the sausage was mainly from lemongrass, and it definitely stole the show. I would definitely order this again in the future. $12 as of Oct 2022. - Pork Belly Kaprow: they took perfectly crispy pork belly and sautéed it in a spicy garlic sauce with basil, zucchini, string beans, onion and red bell peppers. This dish was a perfect complement for steamed white rice, or sticky rice. Even though this dish was more on a fatty side, mostly because they use pork belly rather than regular pork meat, flavor wise and for its whole-ness I would give this dish 10 out of 10, and I would order this again for sure. $18 as of Oct 2022. A bit expensive, but the portion was pretty generous. - Sweet Rice with Mango: the sweet sticky rice was absolutely delicious and bursting with good flavors from the use of coconut milk and likely sweetened condensed milk, and texture was correct too. But the mango was forgettable. $10 as of Oct 2022. Glad I tried it but I'm not sure if I would order this again. read more

This place is so easy to miss in the sea of restaurants lining Monument, but do not sleep on the food here! Our group of 4 stopped by on a Saturday for lunch. Even though it was noon, which I consider prime time for lunch, the whole restaurant was empty. In the 1.5 hrs we were there, we saw a couple take out orders and then one couple ended up dining in. It made me so sad to see that they weren't as busy as they could be considering the food is FANTASTIC! The waitress was nice and prompt! All of our food came out piping hot and she kindly offered a small selection of different chili sauces for us to add to our food, since we all like a little spice. Most of the entrees come with rice, and if you're ordering multiple dishes family style, they just give you one big bowl of rice to share. Food: Fried Calamari - 7/10 We started our meal with this app to share. The calamari was cooked perfectly, very tender. The breading on it is a bit too heavy for me. I'm used to a lighter, crispier batter at Thai restaurants compared to the thick batters they use at American restos. They serve this with a small cup of sweet chili sauce, but I think they could have offered a little more sauce. We ran out about 75% of the way through. Tofu and Eggplant - 10/10 The egg plant and tofu in this were cooked so well! Similar flavor/cooking style as the pork belly dish so you don't really need to order both. We just really wanted an eggplant dish, for some added veggies. The eggplant is really soft, not very toothsome so if you want something with more texture, you can probably skip this. However, I like most veggies soft so my sister and I both thought this was a great dish to have. Drunken Noodles - 9/10 This is the most unique drunken noodles we've ever had. The noodles are fried until the outside is crunchy!!! They do this in clumps so you won't get individual noodle strands. It reminds me of the consistency of fried sesame balls where it's crunch on the outside and you get that chewiness on the inside. If you're expecting that noodle pull/slurp, this is not the dish for you! 2 of us loved the execution of the dish but the other two weren't big fans. The flavor is good though, but could have used more basil. We chose chicken and they included hellaaaa chicken. I felt like there was more chicken than anything else. Panang Curry - 8/10 You don't eat Thai food and not get curry. That's all I'm saying. As with all the other dishes, the portion size is good in comparison to the price. We opted for beef since we already had pork and chicken. The beef was sliced really thin, and the veggies were cooked well too, not too soft or hard. I just prefer my curries to have a little more body. It was a tad bit thin for me but the flavor was still good. Keep in mind this curry is naturally a little spicy so there is a little heat that sneaks up on you as you eat it. Kapraw Pork Belly - 15/10 If you're only going to order one dish, make it this one. The pork belly is SOOOOO good. Each piece is still crisp, but so tender. Comes with a lot of veggies as well (green beans, onions, bell pepper, zucchini), so if you're dining alone, you get a little bit of everything, plus rice! The basil flavor isn't too overpowering either, just fragrant enough. I would probably reorder this in medium spice next time for a little kick, otherwise the dish alone isn't spicy in case you're sensitive to this. Drinks: Thai Tea - 10/10 It's solid. Sweet enough but still had the thai tea flavor. Very creamy and perfect amount of ice. Rich enough to share between 2 people. Lychee Green Tea - 8/10 Didn't try it but my sister said it had a really strong green tea flavor. It wasn't overly sweet and you could taste the lychee essence. Came with two big lychees at the bottom. I don't live in Concord, but it's usually my go to destination when I want something to eat. If I'm ever craving Thai, this spot will be high up on the list for sure! Such a great place for family style meals, as all plates are shareable. We shared all of this between 4 and still had enough left over for one of us to bring home for lunch the next day. FYI- They sell banh mis (vietnamese sandwich). They have a promo, Buy 5, get 1 free. Each are priced at $8.50 and you have about 4 or 5 different protein options. Not a bad deal if you're trying to feed the family on a budget.
