Clean, service is friendly. Portions are huge. Pho is offered with a filet mignon cut that is so tender. The pho is flavorful and not heavy. My friend had the chicken salad, which comes with nostalgic shrimp chips, and the chicken (thigh meat) is perfectly grilled and still tender.
I had a late lunch around 3pm. When I arrived, there were two servers. By the end of the meal, there was only one server and it got busy. The server was bustling around the restaurant. She needed some help. I ordered their grilled mussels and Shaking Beef over rice. The grilled mussels were very good. It had a nice, smokey flavor. The shaking beef was tender and flavorful. I enjoyed my meal. The food is authentic Vietnamese. I will back again.
Bad experience all around. I asked for ice water and got a glass with no ice that tasted like it came straight from the sink. That pretty much set the tone. The food just wasn't good, and it didn't feel authentic. The meats in the dishes seemed off and not what you'd expect. Maybe it works for non-Asian customers, but for me it was a miss. Bun bo hue was not good and the pho ga tasted off. What really sealed it was the service. When I didn't leave an 18% tip, the server gave a rude smirk that felt completely unprofessional. Overall, not a place I'd return to. Do not recommend.
This place was mediocre, unfortunately it did not meet our expectations. My bowl of pho soup was skimped on in terms of noodles and particularly meat--there were only a few small pieces. They were also not very tender. Not to mention some of the meats have MSG as mentioned. I have had better pho elsewhere in the Bay.
This restaurant is among the many other restaurants in the plaza. There is plenty of parking spaces. The inside looks small but spacious at the same time. The tables near the walls do feel a bit tight compared to the middle tables. Service was quick and attentive. Food was good for what I ordered. I got the Com Ga Roti but here they call it Five Spice Chicken over Rice. The plate itself is $19.49 It is 2 quarter legs, fried to golden brown, with tomato rice (extra charge of $1.50) and side of veggies. It is a very filling meal and good for post workouts. My family also got Bun Bo Bue ($19.49) and Vermicelli with Grilled Pork ($16.75). The Vermicelli with Grilled Pork was okay. Lots of pork to go with the noodles and veggies. Was surprised it came in a plate instead of a bowl so that it was easier to mix. The Bun Bo Hue did not meet expectation for my parents unfortunately.
Since I moved to the area I'm still looking for my Pho spot and I think I found it. The 5 spice chicken was delicious. And the beef steak with garlic noodles was also delicious. The person that took our order didn't write it down so he forgot our egg roll. But our experience was still good.
5/5 stars for having one of the biggest XXL extra large bowls of pho I had ever seen and ate. The restaurant had lots of matching black color plates, bowls, and dipping sauces cups. U will be full from their bowl of noodles.
Busy on a Friday night. Arrived around 6pm to meet up with a friend that wasn't feeling well. pho always makes me feel better when I'm down so I found Pho Viet on Yelp and away we went!:) Only 2 super nice servers. Place is small and quaint. Dimmed yellow light, perfect for my post-migraines. ~15 tables total about 70% full. By the time we were leaving around 7:30pm all tables were needing to be bused and they had 3 groups waiting to be seated. We were never checked on if everything was ok for refills on water, tea, napkins, order more--nothing. My friend and I thought the pho was decent enough. Not the best of the best but we were in the area, it was freezing, so it was a convenient choice. 5/5 #12 Seafood Pho (no mussels) Full disclosure, my friend is not Yelp Elite and goes to IHOP and chain restaurants of the sort. This is not a place. I would typically choose. It was merely out of convenience and for him to feel better he said that everything was good. He really enjoys his shrimp and fish balls so that's why he ordered this. That's all I got about this dish sorry. 4/5 #1 Filet Mignon Pho Unsure what I was expecting for filet mignon but it wasn't what you'd expect. I enjoyed the fact that there was no ligaments are fat. It was pure beef a little bit bigger than thin sliced. I'd say OK quality. I've had definitely fresher broth. I couldn't say what was in the broth that made me feel like it wasn't super fresh, but that's just my opinion. The fresh basil leaves that were served with the bean sprouts, jalapeños, lemon, and cilantro. Looks like it was a bit older, not super clean and fresh, but that's OK. 3/5 Bathroom Wasn't particularly well decorated nor modern aesthetic at all. But it was cleanish and did the job of providing a place to wash my hands basically. All in all, again, was a convenience choice and I know better options in other areas. Wouldn't be back. I will saw though, if the servers weren't so busy, they were always nice and smile on their face so I did like that and it earned them an extra star from what I was originally going to rate them.
Really had high hopes for this place based on the reviews and pics! The good: food taste and portion sizes were ok. You can tell the quality of the ingredients is better than your usual pho spot. The broth was clean and flavorful and the rice noodles had a nice texture. The bad: Found a hair in the pho- told the server and she didn't really do anything about it. No offer to exchange the bowl for another, refund, etc. Had to keep flagging her down for service- water refills, napkins, extra bowl, etc. Bathroom was absolutely filthy and I had to let the staff know to clean it up. There was no AC and it was a hot day in Walnut Creek so we were sweating eating our lunch. Also prices are on the higher side. Maybe it was a bad day and they're still working out some kinks. The food can be good but that only carries you so far. With all of the other yummy spots in the area I don't think I'd be back.
A great spot for amazing Vietnamese food. The rice plates are outstanding--we're huge fans of the cubed beef. It was cooked perfectly and incredibly tender. I upgraded to the tomato fried rice and really enjoyed the flavor. The pho is incredible and packed with rich, savory broth. We'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu. The service is excellent and the place is always packed.
My boyfriend and I found this place through the many raving reviews on Yelp. It's located in a plaza with lots of parking. We were greeted and seated quickly. It's spacious inside and seems like a favorite of many locals. Service was very kind and gave us menus and water immediately. My boyfriend ordered #33 Grilled Beef & Garlic Noodles & I ordered the Special Pho. The garlic noodles lacked in flavor and we were particularly looking for the garlic taste. Beef was tender. The Special Pho was okay. It wasn't very memorable in taste. It was a great place to try though unsure if we'd come back! Overall 7/10.
I went here for lunch today and I must say that I am impressed! Having started eating pho down in the South Bay (San Jose area) which has a plentiful variety of high quality restaurants serving pho; I have been looking to find a place in the East Bay that meets the same standards I became accustomed to. This place had everything I could wish for in a Vietnamese restaurant. The crispy egg rolls were served hot, crispy, and loaded with flavor. I ordered the seafood noodle soup and the flavor and fresh ingredients were perfectly prepared. The service was quick AND we got our iced teas and water refilled quickly (nice touch)! The restaurant is tucked inside a grocery shopping center, hardly noticeable from outside. If you like high quality, tasty pho, I suggest you give this place a try. I will be going again!
I'd been under the weather and wanted Pho. Yelp suggested Viet. It was slow making for quick seating & service. Chill atmosphere w/a relaxed vibe. Lemonade 5outta5 Bright, freshly made & absolutely delicious! Tamarind Wings 3.5outta5 Good cook on the chicken but the flavor was off, to me. She enjoyed them. Seafood Noodle Soup 5outta5 Delicious. Excellent broth. It really hit the spot. I wish I could've finished but I was full about halfway through. Chicken Noodle 5outta5 She loved it. Service 3.5outta5 Although nice, the attentiveness needs to be improved. I had to go & ask for a 2nd drink & again for napkins. All in all, good experience. Yelp didn't let me down. #GoTaste&See
I was eating out with my partner and my parents. We wanted Vietnamese food, so we went to this place to try. I have not been here before but it looks cozy. There is a lot of parking since it is in the Safeway shopping center in Downton PH. We were sat right away and looking at the menu, a lot of the dishes felt more modern than traditional (when I compare it to other Vietnamese restaurants I go to). Decided to go with my comfort dish, which is Grilled Pork Rice Plate. Grilled Pork Rice Plate: I opted for brown rice for a healthier approach. The pork was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. It was also not dry and had a good amount of flavor to it. It sat on a bed of lettuce, which gave it a nice presentation. Overall, a simple dish which I thoroughly enjoyed and had leftovers after. I had a great time eating lunch with my parents and my partner. I look forward to coming here again. read more
Recently moved to the area and wanted to check out some of the pho spots. I always order veggie no matter where I go, so this review is mainly comparing it to competitors. Flavor: The soup base is really good, probably one of the best tasting I've had. Lots of flavor and not bland like some of the others. Veggies: Definitely lacked variety. Other places load up on the veggies....this place only gave broccoli, zucchini, celery and jalapeños. Very disappointing. Egg Rolls: Fried to perfection, flavorful and a good amount of filling Bf ordered the mussels...I didn't eat any but he said they were really good! I might come back, hopefully they'll add more veggies upon request... read more
Took the fam to Pho Viet a couple times, and we all enjoyed it. The quality of the meats in the pho was noticeably higher quality than a lot of pho we've had, which justifies some of its higher price points. Thai tea was solid. For appetizers, we tried their crispy rolls. The husband couldn't eat these because they had some shrimp in them, but more for the kids and me. Came with a side of fish sauce, and overall was pretty tasty. My son isn't too big on pho, so he tried a pork chop plate and the garlic noodles. He said both were good. He ate it all, so actions match his words there. My daughter mentioned the chicken pho she had contained a lot of chicken and she likes it that way. She also noticed the better quality of meat and bigger portions. Their special pho is an XL size and comes with the shortrib on the bone. I need to come back here very hungry to devour that or at least split that and other stuff with a friend. I've had their other beef pho, and they were good. Def good quality beef. There was a time where I wanted a certain combo without the meatballs and requested they added more of their tendon and tripe instead, but it seems they just took out the meatballs since there were just a couple pieces of tendon in there. The noodles really cooked within the broth. It was interesting since the broth didn't feel too hot as I was able to eat / drink it right away, but the noodles ended up much softer than I'd like. A steaming bowl of pho is a great meal to start the weekend. Look no further than Pho Viet for such a hearty bowl. Tucked into the corner of the shopping mall, Pho Viet looked modest from the outside. But the place seemed to expand as I stepped through the door. The restaurant was packed with families, couples on dates, and people going out to grab dinner. The place had a casual, familiar feel to it. "Sit wherever you like," the waiter said. I was given a glass of ice water. I felt adventurous; I ordered a bowl of pho with filet mignon, brisket, beef tendon, tripe, and beef balls. Soon my bowl of pho arrived, steam rising off the top like a refreshing hot spring. I also was served a heaping plate of basil, sprouts, cilantro, and other herbs for taste. I tossed the herbs into the bowl, tucked them under the noodles, and waited for the broth to finish cooking the meats. The generous amount of rice noodles impressed me. I slurped up the tender noodles with delicious bites of flank and brisket. The beef tendon was chewy like jelly, and the tripe spongy, with delicate flavor. I enjoyed biting into the springy, bouncy beef balls too. The beef broth was well-seasoned with onion, scallion, star anise, and other herbs. This was a very filling meal from Pho Viet, and I enjoyed it. When I'm looking for pho again, Pho Viet will be on my list. read more

We drive out to try somewhere new in Pleasant Hill. We got there shortly after the opened so we were seated quickly. The restaurant is very clean and decorated nicely. The Pho is delicious! The broth tasted so good and we also had the spring rolls which we ate before I could take a photo. read more
When you ask an Asian foodie their top Vietnamese food, it usually Pho but the ones that know, usually says Bún bò Huế. That's the soup that goes gangster on your taste buds, makes your eyes go real big and a lets out a ohhh sound from your mouth. Stopped by for a quick meal and this place checks all the boxes you would want when visiting any restaurant. Service was quick and food came out in no time. The menu is pretty big and have all the typical Vietnamese food you would expect. The plates themselves were also pretty packed and cooked well. Overall, quality, quantity and service were all checked in my book! read more

I've been craving Pho lately, so I got my choice of lunch with hubby since tomorrow is my birthday and he has to do what I want :) The gentleman that greeted us was all smiles and super friendly! Lots of other guests there eating lunch too, good sign! I got the combo Pho, we shared the shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce, and hubs got the beef with garlic noodles. All of it was delicious!!!! Everything was super fresh. Heads up though, If you have a ton of pho left like I did and need a to-go container, the container is narrow lol. Wide bowl of soup, narrow container..... I knew it would spill or I would wear a bunch of it. Yeah, I spilled it on the table trying to get it in but I really tried. If I was at home, I would have done it over the sink, if that gives you perspective. But overall really yummy, we'll be back! read more
Pho Viet is a cozy Vietnamese restaurant located in the Contra Costa plaza next to Safeway, Habana Express and Milk Tea Lab. We came in as a party of 5 and the owner was lovely. He made it a point to seat us right away and put several tables together to accommodate us, as the restaurant space is small. We ordered the Wonton Soup, the Special Rice Plate with chicken, grilled pork chop, grilled shrimp and veggies, the Pho with Filet Mignon and Meatballs, and the Wok Tossed Beef Steak Cubes. Everything was so delicious and fresh and the perfect meal on a cold night. We had such a positive dining experience at Pho Viet, hoping to come back this weekend. Thank you! ETA: Came in last night and got 2 of the same dishes from my past review and tried the Tamarind Chicken Wings-- if you like wings these are a must try! They're flour coated, fried and glazed in a tangy sweet tamarind sauce, SO GOOD! read more

Garlic noodles. I'll say it again: Garlic Noodles! With shrimp, beef or chicken. My new go to lunch spot. It's usually too warm for pho yet, but the selection is impressive and the place is cute and clean. Definitely a must read more
Came here on a Sunday night because it's cold and I'm craving soup! I ordered the large pho with all the meats, and my friend ordered the garlic noodles with beef (and added a shrimp skewer). My pho was perfectly solid and good, but my friend's noodles and beef were even better! The service was also lovely and welcoming. Can't wait to come back! read more

I'd seen a lot of great reviews about this place, so I decided to give it a try. I noticed they had Bún Bò Huế on the menu and went for it--the broth was rich and flavorful, and the portion was generous. There's only one size available, but at $17, the price felt fair. I probably wouldn't come here just for regular pho, especially with the single portion size and higher price point. But if you're in the mood for something a little different or want to try more unique dishes, I'd definitely recommend checking it out. read more

Came back recently to get BBH and try their pho. I was a little disappointed bc meat pieces in BBH seemed smaller than before and also their pho was slightly on the sweeter side for me. Regardless, I'll still keep coming! read more

I'm a lil pho snob so although i had high hopes due to the ratings it was a bit disappointing. We got #9s there is only 1 size available so it was pretty big but broth wasn't as flavorful as other places. It was good just had better, the egg rolls were a bit mushy and wouldn't recommend barley tasted any meat imo. However service was great although the pho took a while.. the music and ambience was a vibe so i recommend dining in if you try this place. Definitely would take someone here if they weren't really familiar with pho, this spot is perfect for that! read more

Food: Their garlic noodles got a great appetizing look overall. I loved the finishing touches and the garnishes they sprinkled over the noodles. And I would have to say that the flavor was quite good. The garlic definitely came through. However, it was too bad that they did not use Asian-style egg noodles, but instead they opted for linguine noodles. I've seen restaurants using linguine pasta as their base noodles to make garlic noodles and that's acceptable, but if they chose to do that, I would expect the noodles to be cooked perfectly (they would need to still retain some bounciness and texture). However, the noodles on my plate felt like way overcooked linguine, so I was not a big fan. With that said, my fried chicken was deep-fried and cooked to perfection with deliciously crispy skin, although I did not get a lot of the 5 spice flavor that was promised based on the dish's name. We also tried their grilled beef garlic noodles, and the beef was very well seasoned and tender. I loved the delicate balance between sweet and savory in the seasoning. I also appreciated some greens on my plate to go with my carbs and protein. However, what looked like simple plain shredded lettuce on my plate turned out to be a fully-dressed side salad with a slight tangy flavor profile, which I personally thought did not go really well with the garlic noodles. I think some plain boiled broccoli cuts would've done a better job, imho. So overall there were a few misses in my opinion with this dish. And with those misses it was hard to overlook the price point of almost $17. I would expect to pay no more than $15 for the quality of the food that was served to me. Service: Staff were nice and friendly, and service was relatively quick. Ambiance: The restaurant on the inside looked clean and tidy. It looked newly renovated and nice. Parking: This restaurant is located in the same open plaza as Safeway, so parking was easy and was not an issue. read more

I go to this place often and always order the shrimp vermicelli noodles. The shrimps skewers are covered in an addicting honey sauce that will leave you wanting more! Ambiance is also very warm and inviting. Great place to chill with friend and family! The beef pho is also really tasty but general critique every visit is that proportions are inconsistent. Also if you're vegetarian or vegan, I wouldn't recommend the veggie pho because of the bland broth and lack of ingredients. read more

We are not related to pho viet in san ramon. This is the firt time we open. We just pick the name mean vietnamese’s pho but some how we have same name with the phoviet in san ramon. We have lot of customers have the same questions like your.
Do you have a different phone number that works for take out orders? We tried to call and order take out but the call doesn't go through after multiple attempts. We used the phone number on google and yelp. No website either. Please advise.
