A couple of friends and I came for a late dinner on a Friday night as my friend's wanted k-drama food. Lol. We got the jjajangmyun, the sweet & sour pork, and the bulgogi kimbop. The jjajangmyun was ok, not spectacular. The sweet and sour pork was very good - perfectly light and crunchy, and the dipping sauce was spot on. The kimbop tasted good but was giant. Never had such wide kimbop, so much so that the larger end pieces were almost impossible to eat in one bite. I didn't it, but it wasn't pretty. One day I really wanted to try sweet and sour pork and this restaurant showed up in my search, so it was worth a try. This is located in a little shopping plaza, not too far away from the mall and target. Since it's in a plaza, there is plenty of parking. The restaurant itself is has a nice modern feel to it. There are several tables, as well as a communal table in the center with several seats. The menu is pretty extensive with korean dishes, of which I definitely want to try more in the future, but I was here for the sweet and sour pork. It didn't take too long for my food to arrive, but I was one of the first ones to arrive after work on a weekday. I believe it was priced at around $15, but there was a lot of food. It's most likely meant to be shared, but I would say there was maybe 2 or more porkchops worth of fried pork given. They do give the sauce on the side, so pour or dip as you prefer. They also give radish and onions for side dishes. I'm not too sure if there was rice to order, but I just got the pork, but rice would have been a good addition. For a first time trying, it was good, but it ended up giving me the meat sweats. I should have probably brought half of it home. Soda was by the can, so no free refills to note. The staff was very nice and accommodating. I personally like raw onion, so I asked if I can get some chopped onions to eat with my food, and they gladly did so, and gave almost a whole onion. The food and service was good. Eating that much sweet and sour pork may have back fired on me, but now I can say that I tried it. I definitely want to return and try more of the menu. This place has amazing potential, but I don't find the food to be authentic Korean or even quality mainstream Korean snacks. We went simple and ordered one of each kimbap - tofu, chicken, beef, and shrimp. We also ordered waffle fries. The tofu kimbap was definitely the best but unfortunately the rice was not seasoned in any of the kimbap. It left a lot to be desired and could be a great roll, just simply wasn't. The chicken was advertised as spicy chicken but there was nothing spicy about it. It also tasted incredibly fatty and of low quality meat. The beef w Wes's as advertised as bulgogi which was also not the case. Was low grade shredded beef that was minimally seasoned. When combined with the dipping sauce, it tasted like a hamburger which was really unfortunate. Lastly the fried shrimp was mostly fried and not a lot of shrimp. Again, with the lack of seasoning in the rice really made the roll unpalatable. I wish they would have had variation in their kimbap dipping sauces as the mayo ketchup combo simply ain't it. The waffle fries were fine, but there's no item description on the menu indicating the presence of shredded cheese which was a disappointment when they came out. Unfortunately, the price point also killed the experience. Paying $92 after tip was incredibly brutal because I would have preferred a kimbap from H Mart or even Trader Joe's read more

We came to Banju because it was one of the few places open late. There's a parking lot so no worries about looking for parking. I LOVE corn cheese and this is possibly one of the best corn cheese I've had. The corn was sweet and the cheese was cheesy. It made a very impressive cheese pull that passed the test. We also had their Spicy Seafood Noodle, Seafood Pancake and the chicken wings with the Soy Garlic flavor and Honey Parmesan. Spicy Seafood Noodle had a really strong seafood flavor. It was nothing spicy. Honestly my least favorite of the meal because it tasted sort of like drinking clam juice with a hint of kimchi spice. The seafood pancake was really good with actually a lot of substance mixed in. Most places has maybe an octopus chopped in and called it a day, but every bite I felt like there was good flavor and texture. Chicken wings were ok. We got the soy garlic flavor because that's classic, and the Honey Parmesan because who doesn't like sweet and savory? The soy garlic unfortunately wasn't good. It was too saucy with none of the crunch from the chicken, honestly like they dipped the fried chicken in the sauce pan and forgot about it for a while. The Honey Parmesan however, was amazing! There was crunch, it was the right amount of sweet, a good amount of Parmesan that didn't overpower any of the sweetness. I highly recommend this flavor. It's worth the extra $2. Overall this place was average. The corn cheese and honey parm wings was the best that I've had. But the rest of the meal was mediocre at best. After I learned that this restaurant changed ownership, I was nervous of the changes but they've just raised their prices, added a few new food items, and did slight changes to interior (no TV's anymore). Pollo pollo is now Banju and I have to get used to that lol My boyfriend and I's favorite food items hadn't changed much in flavor. We always get the kimchi fried rice, which we thought still tasted delicious and this time it seemed less oily. The fried chicken is also still delicious but it's more saucy than the previous times we went and the pricing is a bit more. However, they've added salad to the chicken tray, which I thought was a nice touch and the dressing was a little sweet. The waiter and waitress were nice and checked on us a couple of times. Honestly a great find! It's a tucked gem of Concord, which honestly is a great place to drop by for some good budget food with loved ones! The inside is pretty small so best for small gatherings. I'll be honest, if my parents didn't tell me about this place, I would have kept overlooking it. But I'm so glad I know about this place now because it is a great find. This place is open from 11:30am - 3pm and 5pm - 10pm (11pm on Fridays and Saturdays). Be mindful of that time gap when they're closed because I made that mistake once which was completely my fault. My family and I came right when they opened up for the second half of the day. The interior is nice and cozy with soft ambient lighting, which I am a huge fan of. There is a variety of seating options, with table and booth seating on the either side of the building and a bar-like seating with high chairs in the middle of the building. We got a variety of dishes because we wanted to try a little bit of everything. Overall, everything tasted great! Teriyaki Chicken Bowl - A nice classic dish with a good ratio of chicken and rice, served with vegetables and pineapple on the side. I love this twist to teriyaki chicken because it balances sweet and savory well, plus the texture of the rice is nice. Spicy Noodle Soup - A hearty soup served with noodles, an assortment of seafood, and an assortment of vegetables. The noodles are cooked al dente, and they seem freshly made based on the texture. It's a very good soup, however my spice tolerance isn't great so I struggled to eat it and had to dilute the leftover soup when I got home. However, if your spice tolerance is good, by all means go for this dish! Shrimp Fried Rice Bowl - This dish was HEAVENLY--my favorite one out of the selection of dishes we ordered. It comes out in a pan, served with an egg and two hash browns on top. The fried rice has a slightly sweet taste that pairs well with the umami of the shrimp. I am absolutely OBSESSED with the crispiness of the hash browns that I could go on about it. A dish I'd definitely recommend getting. Kimchi Fried Rice (not pictured because we got it to go) - A great mix of savory, tangy, and spicy. The rice is cooked just right, and seaweed is sprinkled on top as garnish. It also comes with a side of pickled yellow radish and pickled onions and jalapeños which complements the fried rice well. Not only were the dishes great, but service was great as well.
