    Chicken pho
    Alex M.

A cold, overcast day calls for pho, and I've been looking forward to trying J's Pho Cafe, which had recently opened in the neighborhood. We arrived around lunchtime when the restaurant was bustling; fortunately, there was one available table right next to the door. It was a bit chilly sitting next to the open door, but we were grateful that we were able to be seated right away. We browsed the menu, which offered a variety of pho, rice plates, banh mi, and other Vietnamese dishes. I ordered the chicken pho because I was in the mood for something comforting but not too heavy. After placing our order, our food was brought out relatively quickly - along with a neat, wrapped bundle of utensils including chopsticks, a fork, a metal spoon, and a soup spoon. My pho was served with a plate of fresh toppings, including bean sprouts, cilantro, jalapeño, and lime. Upon adding in my toppings and a healthy drizzle of Sriracha, I dug into my noodles. While I sometimes find pho broth to be bland, this broth had a rich chicken flavor that was only enhanced by the lime and Sriracha. The chicken pieces were thinly sliced and tender, and there was a decent serving of vermicelli noodles. The other members of my party ordered the wonton soup and spicy beef soup specials, and they had no constructive feedback on their dishes. After we finished eating, it took a few attempts to catch a server's attention to get the bill. Meanwhile, a healthy line continued to form out the door. We left very satisfied after our lunch and are looking forward to our next visit.

We returned on a weekday and are happy to update our review to five stars. The service was noticeably faster, our children were thoughtfully provided water in lidded cups, and the staff was both kind and attentive. The food was delicious, and we look forward to returning. We spent over $100 for a family of four, and were pleasantly surprised to receive a 10% discount. While prices are on the higher side, the overall experience and quality make it worthwhile - we will definitely be back.

Pho broth that they told me was bun bo hue

Newer place so I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. Called for to go order. Placed me on hold for 15 mins and forgot. We decided to just stop in to eat. Ordered pho and the bun Bo hue, they brought out the bowl in the photo and I said this is not bun Bo hue the server argues with me about how it is I said this smells like and is pho broth it only has the correct noodles and pork cake... Continued to say it is bun bo hue to me anyway. I stared at the person in disbelief and took the bowl and a guy runs out of the kitchen telling me that's not bun Bo hue only then did they correct it. It's embarrassing as a Vietnamese person to experience that type of engagement at a Vietnamese restaurant because how did you not know the difference? Was excited but not anymore. Still difficult to get someone on the phone today lol. Hopefully they can work through the kinks.

Large portions of the special. It could feed a family of 4 decently...or a very large person singularly.

Pretty good place to get Vietnamese food. Their menu isn't the huge extensive type but small and done better (quality over quantity). Their service was actually pretty good, kind of different than what you would get at a normal Vietnamese place. The restaurant is clean with cleanings after every service. They had some of the large screen TV's from the previous fried chicken place so it is put to good use. Overall it was a good experience! We just need it to get the other condiments such as the pickled jalapeños, little trays for sauce and their own chili sauce. IYKYK

Clean, modern vibe * Pho is good (lighter, less heavy broth) * Fresh appetizers (spring rolls, egg rolls) * Friendly service * Slightly pricier than typical spots A solid, modern Vietnamese spot--worth trying, especially if you like a cleaner, lighter pho experienced

My husband and I went on opening day (we didn't realize that until we were there) and we are SO glad this place has opened. The food was delicious and given the area the pricing seemed fair. We loved all the items we got (Beef Pho, Beef Rice Plate, and Pork spring rolls). The food was authentic, tasty, and a good sized portion. Our experience with our servers was totally fine! We didn't have an experience of waiting 30+ minutes as others mentioned. At the same time, this is a brand new family owned business, so I think it's important to recognize they are learning and there are always growing pains with that! Practice makes perfect and I'm excited to have such delicious food in this center.

Food was amazing!! My daughter got the steak and meatballs pho. I got the grilled chicken Banh mi. Both were delicious! The bone broth in the pho was so flavorful! Idk why people are complaining about this place. Everyone was super friendly. Took a minute for the check but that's probably because it wasn't busy. I'm grateful for not being rushed. For grand opening they're giving 10% off and a free soft drink. Support this delicious spot so it stays.

Pho Chicken $16.95 plus 3% credit charge with out the sign... Chicken was dry and the soup was okay The sever was nice tho

    Bo Ne

Too pricey for my pocket book. Worth a try if you want to check out new places. We got Bo Ne with beef ($25.99) which not many Vietnamese restaurant serve in this area. I was excited to try the Shaking Beef ($20.99) and was disappointed that it looks and tastes like a chinese stir fry beef. Shaking Beef supposed to be crispy outside and also comes with a lime and salt and pepper dipping sauce. We didn't get that. The tomato rice that came with it was good. Cooked chewy and not mushy. I am not sure if I will go back because there are lots of other places here that serves banh mi and pho and appetizers with a more appealing price.

Combo fried rice, came out wrong , corrected later

We got combo pho & combo fried rice. Expensive compared to other pho places in WC, portion sizes are those of medium sized bowls everywhere else or even small just an FYI. Their fried rice was also on the small side for $20 Their customer service lacked, a little unorganized and got our orders wrong. They did correct it and then were a bit better towards the end. Ambiance was ok, tvs should be playing sports or something not fish the entire time. Did get 10% off but you need to ask for the soft drink specials they don't offer it right away.

Came here with party of 8 on Monday night. No wait and service was excellent. They currently have 10% discount and free soda. They also gave us complimentary egg rolls, which we really appreciated. Got the banh xeo and it was good, but crepe could be a little crispier. The shaken beef was tender. Good portion and took it home and it was still good when reheated. Will go back to try the pho next time.

Everything was delicious, especially the red curry! I also want to shout-out the take-out person who made our order, they did a great job and got all of our adjustments right. (We wanted some things omitted/on the side) I was nervous there would be a mistake but it was perfect so shout out to whoever that is. And I could see on the receipt they checked everything off so I appreciate that. The one thing I do not like about this place is that you have to pay for the rice separately when you buy curry. I knew this before ordering so I just made some at home, but I find that very odd. Who is going to eat curry just as is? It's like serving a bowl of alfredo and charging extra for the fettucine. It seems to me like a random way to get more money out of guests; I don't know why else it would be that way. Rice costs barely anything; they should consider including it and maybe adding a dollar or something to the entree. Nonetheless, we would order from this spot again; we really enjoyed the food, the portions were really good sized too.

Fortunately, the food inside lives up to the '80's music. This place is a little Eastern-European treasure chest. The meat selection alone is worth the trip: excellent veal sausages, proper kabanosy (both American-made and the legit European imports), and enough smoked and cured options to make you reconsider every bland sandwich you've ever eaten. Then there's the sweets. Not just a few shelves: an impressively deep lineup of Eastern European treats, both loose and packaged. The kind where you walk in thinking you'll grab one thing and leave with three mysterious chocolates and something wrapped in gold foil. It's also my most reliable solution for a sudden Żywiec beer craving. And if that's not the mood, there's always a jar of pickled mushrooms waiting patiently. In short: a small, charming deli that punches way above its size... and yes, I still sing the Kate Bush song every single time I go.

This time, though, I wanted to try something different, so I went with the chicken and mushroom filling. It was also very tasty. One thing I really like is that they focus more on the filling, and the bread is not too thick. It always has that slightly greasy goodness in the best way. So yummy. As much as I enjoyed the food, my interaction with the woman working there this time was not great. When I arrived, she was unpacking a box. She saw me but did not greet me or ask if I was ready to order. I stood there awkwardly for a few minutes before she finally asked. It would have been nice to be acknowledged right away. I ordered two different fillings, and when she was packing them, I asked if she could please label them so I would know which one was which. She responded by saying, "I wasn't going to make you guess." I did not find that very friendly. In fact, I thought it was borderline rude. I still really enjoyed the food, but that interaction took away from the overall experience a little bit. I wish the customer service had been a bit warmer.
